Reviews for Sunningdale Hotel
Review 1:Unfortunately the pillows and bed are very uncomfortable. pillows lumpy and hard. bed a bit saggy and bit of a sore back after a few nites... only real negative, but an important part of any stay...
Review 2:Lovely gardens. good location. quiet. nice owners. good view....
Review 3:Nothing.
Review 4:This was our fourth visit to Sunningdale. It is a bit old-fashioned, but what we like about it is the peaceful location surrounded by a large garden, the homely service, interesting breakfasts, and the large pool, which is usually very quiet. The bathrooms have been upgraded since our last visit, and free wi-fi is now available in all the rooms. Excellent value for money.
Review 5:Quite noisy at nights becasue of the wind - it woke us up. We actually did not like the breakfasts - little choice, poor quality. We also had to leave 2 days earlier due to mouse or rat which shew on our balcony 2 days in a row. We raised that issue and we were told that it sometimes shows at that time of the year but this is first time it came into hotel property. The poison was spread around the hotel and the balcony immediately but as it comes again, we decided to leave. If it wasn't about the animal on the balcony we would actually be quite satisfied with the place.
Review 6:The area is very nice; small charming town; seems quiet but with a lof of restaurants. The hotel is located in walking distanace to the city center and very close to the beach. The apartment was clean and had nice sea view. We had a fridge in the room (no extra charge). Nice green area around the hotel.
Review 7:We were looking for a quiet location but within easy access to the restaurants in Agia Galini for a couple of nights away and this hotel suited us perfectly. The room was very peaceful; the pool was maintained very well and there was a very wide choice for breakfast. We would stay there again when in that area.
Review 8:The pine bed was not the most comfortable and creaked every time I turned over.
Review 9:lovely apartment in beautifully laid out surroundings. Perfectly located, a short walk from the beach and village. Air conditioned room was spotlessly cleaned daily, bathroom excellent, whole establishment was maintained and cared for to a good standard.
Review 10:Location - 7 minutes from quiet end of resort Really good free breakfast - largely home made, varied daily Quietness and cleanliness Genuine warmth of proprietress Free wifi good Excellent restaurants in close proximity; town only a short pedestrianized walk Overall amazing value for money
Review 11:A very comfortable and convenient place to stay. Quiet with its own parking area and convenient to sea and restaurants. Owner delightfully helpful with local information. Ample variety for help-yourself breakfast. We would certainly stay here again.
Review 12:We have the reservation of family room with 4 beds. When we arrived the lady said to us that she doesn't have this room. So we staid in room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed (2 adults, 2 kids), and she allowed us to use room next door with 2 beds. The beds are not comfortable and we had a lot of mosquitos in the room, so we did not spleep good.
Review 13:Location - it is close to the sea and to the taverns - good food!
Review 14:Couldn't get wi-fi in room. No cradle for shower head.
Review 15:Quiet relaxed environment. Friendly caring staff. Tasty breakfast. Good location. Easy parking. Nice swimming pool and outdoor area.
Review 16:Wonderful garden and café. Nice lady taking care of us. Location is perfect !
Review 17:Very quiet location but only 5 mins walk to beach and restaurants. Easy to find, well signed from the main road.
Review 18:pool, breakfasts, views from balcony (top floor), friendly reception on arrival, nice bathroom
Review 19:No night swimming in pool.
Review 20:it is a good housing in its category with nice breakfast and staff.
Review 21:some appartements are a little bit "outdated". No payment by credit cards possible.
Review 22:good location for a fair price
Review 23:There is nothing that we dislike, but the buildings are a bit "dated", so don't expect 5 star accommodation.
Review 24:We have stayed here twice before, so we know what to expect. What we like are the peaceful location, situated a short walk from the seafront; excellent swimming pool; lovely breakfasts; comfortable, quiet rooms. Fantastic value for money.
Review 25:Nothing - it was all good.
Review 26:A charming hotel with a lovely garden with lots of flowers and shade. The swimming pool is great and has lots of space to sit and lie and sunbathe, but shade also if you need it. Very good breakfast buffet with variations every day and a lovely terrace to sit out and enjoy it. The owners keep it to a very high standard and are most helpful and can recommend good outings around Agia Galini. It is a shört walk to the beach and to the many restaurants there. We highly recommend it for the individual traveller who likes the personal contact - also with fellow travellers. A great place to stay
Review 27:Nothing not to like. But - if you are coming by bus - get off the stop before Agia Galini and walk down the lane otherwise you will have a fifeteen minute walk along the beach and over the river bridge with your case.
Review 28:How lucky I was to finish my last few days of three weeks in Greece at the Sunnindale. The complex was about to close for the season on my departure but the owners kept up their first class service right up to the last minute. Breakfast buffet was really good - especially Greek Yogurt and two types of honey many varieties of cereal/meat/conserve/fruit. Spacious room adjacent to garden. I was so impressed with the immaculate quality of the pool - which I had almost to myself - as most venues would have either closed the facility or left it unfiltered and moribund at the fag-end of season.
Review 29:very good price-quality charming hotel in a green environment. a quiet small cosy hotel nearby the village agia galini at 200 m from the beach a very friendly hotel manager who tries to help her guests with a smile
Review 30:The room and the bathroom weren't clean enough.
Review 31:The position very near to the beach and to nice restaurants; the kindness of the staff; the cleaniness of the swimming pool.
Review 32:a relatively small bathroom, hot water after a 5-10 minutes wait
Review 33:The owner was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent (made with attention, and offering a wide range of food and beverage). A very comfortable room with well-working airco with beautiful, jasmine gardens outside. A quiet, reasonably-priced accomodation with usually well-working wi-fi both in the room and in public places, very close to the beach and a variety of taverns, and a 10-15 minute walk away from the lively streets of Agia Galini. Sunningdale has also a nice little pool for adults. We would highly recommend this hotel to everyone!
Review 34:Nothing to mention as a disadvantage !
Review 35:I think that this hotel is a perfect place to stay either you bring your family or you choose a romantic vacation , because the facilities and the fact that it is very clean make you feel you did the right choice . The location is perfect too . Very romantic and quiet . I love his hotel and this nice small picturesque village !
Review 36:The bathroom is a bit outdated and very small. On the other hand it is good value for money.
Review 37:Family runned small hotel; ideal of you want to be close to the Beach and prefer to be in a quiet place where you get warmly welcomed. Agio Galini is a nice little village at the coast, without mass tourism or appartmentblocks.
Review 38:Didn't accept credit cards. 15 minutes walk along partially lit path to centre.
Review 39:Small friendly budget hotel. Excellent location near beach in a quiet area. Lovely outside area with pool & sun beds. Good varied breakfasts,. Ample parking.
Review 40:The bathrooms could do with refurbishing.
Review 41:This place is a little gem and excellent value for money! We have stayed here before so we know what to expect. It is situated on the edge of town so it is nice and peaceful, yet it is only a few minutes walk from the seafront and local bars and restaurants. The walk along the promenade to the town centre is an enjoyable 15 minute stroll. The studios are surrounded by beautiful gardens and there is a large adults swimming pool which we had to ourselves most of the time. There is also a smaller children's pool which was out of use, so it may not appeal to people with young families. The actual rooms are fairly basic and a bit dated, but they are clean and comfortable and everything worked okay, and the air conditioning was quiet and efficient. Strangely they charge an extra 2 euros for use of a fridge. Breakfast is on a self service basis and is taken outside in a lovely enclosed area of the garden. The choice of food is very good for a traditional cold Greek breakfast, with a varied choice each day. The home made marmalade was fantastic. Agia Galini itself is a small seaside town with a sort of hippy vibe, very relaxed and with some great bars and restaurants.
Review 42:1. The bathroom was very small, old (extremely used) and dirty! We had to kill 4 cocroaches to get to shower!! Next day 2 other emerged from a hole in the floor!! We decided to leave the hotel earlier, I.E. after the first day and paid for it in cash.. Despite of the above, the owner at first tried to charge as for the whole 2 days! Unbelievable!2. We have been given 2 old and small towels, one of which was so used that it was nothing more than a cloth (not as clean a I would expect). 3. The floor was made of pieces of rock; not possible to keep clean.. 4. There was almost no electric socket available in the whole apt (we had to swith off the fridge). 5. No electric kettle; no tv etc. Light very limited (old type dark bulbs). 6. Everything was very old and used.. The hotel needs urgent cleaning (or perhaps should be closed by a sanitary inspection) and renovation. 7. The owner does not accept credit cards; using a cash maschine in the town is very hazardous as there are very frequent breaks in electricity several times a day! we have seen a broken cash mashine windows message on its display!! 8. The hotel's pool is small and painted (inside!) with an old paint. How anybody could use it? 9. As everythere in Crete, the black tea served for breakfast was inedible.. (those available in ordinary Greek shops were not sophisticated, but much better). The rest of breakfast menu was OK.
Review 43:The hotel is situated in a relatively quiet place near the sea. Therewas enough place for parking in the hotel's enclosure. However, thehotel itself was definitely not worth its price and not recommended!>two times cheaper hotel in the same town was much better.
Review 44:We spent a week here at the end of September and it was excellent value for money! The rooms are a little bit dated, but they are clean, quiet and comfortable and include air conditioning. There is a large pool which was hardly used by anybody, and we found this made a nice change from the beach. The smaller children's pool was closed, perhaps because it was near the end of season. Breakfast was very good with a varied selection of food each day, which the owner clearly took pride in preparing. It is an easy 5 minutes walk to the beach, and a further 10 minute stroll along the promenade brings you to the town centre. We enjoyed this walk each day, and it was nice to return to the tranquillity of Sunningdale each night.
Review 45:The bed was too hard for me...
Review 46:The hotel is a nice quite place located in the garden just 200 meters from the beach. The owner is an extremely nice and warm old lady. The hotel is older but clean. Tasteful breakfast. Definitely value for money!
Review 47:The hotel is conveniently situated in a quiet location but only a couple of minutes from the beach. The owner is extremely helpful, nothing is to much trouble for her. The breakfast area is very pleasant and the choice of food was changed daily. The pool area is a good size and there were always beds available. The overall standard of the hotel is very good, this is a great hotel for the price.
Review 48:The owners could not do enough for you. Breakfast was good with changes to the basic offering each day. (We stayed 4 days). The accommodation is dated but reasonably well maintained. There are two pools but only one working, which was in need of some maintenance - (flaky paint). Sunningdale is best described as quite dated, so a little tired and rough around the edges but clean and clearly loved by it owners.
Review 49:is run by unfriendly old woman had to kill a really big cockroach in the bathroom was charged additional 30% fee for 2 p.m check-out although booking conditions said check-out possible until 3 p.m. no remote control for air condition will never come back
Review 50:The whole eclectic feel of the place together with the location which was close to the beach but also very quiet. Breakfasts were very good and Evi the owner could not have done any more to make our stay very welcoming.
Review 51:Wi-fi totally inadequate. Buffet breakfast just ok.
Review 52:Quiet and a few minute walk to the beach and town center.
Review 53:Very friendly staff, lovely breakfast area, nice pool, clean rooms though a little dated but perfect for the price
Review 54:Quaint, peaceful and quiet hotel. Loved the open air breakfast space. Alia Galini has great rooftop restaurants on the harbour.
Review 55:the stuf.. not friendly at all.
Review 56:the area was perfect
Review 57:Very friendly owner, nice swimming pool
Review 58:This is the most charming place I have ever stayed at. Nothing reminds of a hotet, but of the beautiful and lovingly furnished home.
Review 59:Very friendly, open hearted , good
Review 60:The place was old and needs a complete refurbishment.
Review 61:The owner was pleasent , the place was mostly quiet , rooms were clesn
