Reviews for Arvor

Review 1:Limited evening menu but good steak and chips.

Review 2:The room and bathroom were in good order, clean and well maintained. There was easy free parking and we had a friendly welcome from the owner who spoke fairly good English. Breakfast was good, eggs, ham, croissant, bread, cereal, etc. We'd be happy to revisit and recommend. No frills, just good clean, functional room and service.

Review 3:Breakfast was pretty ordinary. Staff not particularly friendly. Would have loved to have been able to make myself a cup of tea - hotel would provide at extra cost . Had booked a comfort room - pretty awful- dingy and smelly - on request was able to upgrade to a superior room.

Review 4:Good location in the old part of the town.

Review 5:Shower was small and hairdryer didn't work.

Review 6:Excellent location in historic Dinan. Staff were very kind and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. Appreciated parking on site and the convenience of an elevator. We would stay here again.

Review 7:Loved the location, medieval streets, buildings. Loved the Breton shopping opportunities & the restaurants. Hotel Arvor reception great, gave us parking space & booked restaurants for us & phoned onto next hotel for our parking details. Breakfasts were great too, French as well as Breton specialities. This is our second visit to Arvor, last came 2013. Will hopefully come here again.

Review 8:The shower head fell off and some of the fixtures need some repair. But when shower head was report the staff repaired in a timely fashion

Review 9:The location was unbeatable and the staff outstanding

Review 10:The location was very centrally located and we appreciated the restaurant recommendations and sample menus that were available. We also enjoyed the variety offered at breakfast.

Review 11:Although it was good to have secure parking, the car park is not easy to negotiate when full.

Review 12:The location is superb, ideal base for exploring Dinan and the secure parking is another advantage. The room was comfortable and we were pleased to have a walk in shower.

Review 13:Needed a mini bar to store purchases from market. Also needed heater as it was unusually col and wet and the heatin is not switched on until October.

Review 14:Staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 15:There was no bad experience

Review 16:We have been to the Arvor several times before and were welcomed and recognized. When you think of all the visitors they must have it felt special.

Review 17:See previous answer. We were very satisfied with the accommodation and service. There was a little issue over parking for our car but it was resolved easily. The road works on the approach to Dinan from the viaduct caused complications getting into and out of the town.

Review 18:Very good location in the old town, with the only drawback being navigation of the numerous pedestrianised streets in our car when we arrived. A satnav is an essential. The hotel needs to give more detailed directions when booking is made. Facilities were all very good. Nearby restaurants also good, but a little pricey.

Review 19:NOTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review 20:EVERYTHING!!! From the hotel staff, location, cleanliness, the bed (very comfortable), and the breakfasts. Having its own car park in such a popular city was a bonus, though the parking spaces are VERY tight!!!

Review 21:We had a family suite, which was well appointed. The lady who greeted us was lovely and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant, although I think we were charged more than indicated when we book (12 euros each, rather than 9 euros )

Review 22:Why the hotel chooses to carry out maintenance of rooms in the middle of the night I cannot imagine? We were not warned that work would be carried out at 1am and this awoke my wife and I and kept us awake for an hour or more. The receptionist regretted our inconvenience and gave us a coffee; no offer of free breakfast or indeed any suggestion of a refund, regrettably I had paid upon arrival. Our advice is check very carefully to see if work is planned adjacent your room.

Review 23:This is a very pleasant hotel. It is well situated, comfortable and has a good feel to it. Spacious enough with good rooms, we thought we had chosen well.

Review 24:Had a room on the top floor which meant we did not have the beautiful view across the square.

Review 25:Excellent central location. Nice simple but stylish interior design. Very helpful staff who spoke very good English.

Review 26:Breakfast didn't have many options so it was a challenge feeding kids on a dairy-free gluten-free diet.

Review 27:Location was wonderful. The large suite was perfect for my family. Very roomy and comfortable. Great value for the money spent. Decor was beautifully old fashioned which fit perfectly with the city of Dinan. Look forward to going there again.

Review 28:Parking is a little difficult as space is at a premium. A warm option for breakfast would be nice.

Review 29:Fantastic hotel, great location with friendly staff. Enjoyed a wonderful stay and would visit again.

Review 30:A great location, near the historic centre, but not noisy Very helpful and friendly staff large room (we had a triple) with newly renovated and large shower room

Review 31:We had no hot water one day but this was swiftly and efficiently rectified by staff.

Review 32:Right in the heart of Dinan. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed here many years ago and would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Review 33:Nothing - perfect

Review 34:Immaculate , beautiful up to date decor ,fantastic location , beautiful French town .very friendly helpful staff 10/10 .just perfect will stay again ,have already recommended it to friends

Review 35:Excellent Hotel, no complaints only point to mention that whilst the quality of the breakfast items was good we felt it was perhaps too expensive at 24 euros for two.

Review 36:Attention to detail. Rooms were beautifully decorated, very clean. Modern bathroom, power shower again extremely clean. Very friendly staff. Reserved parking and strong WIFI coverage. Great location for exploring, no noise at night-time. We are already planning our next trip to the Arvor in October!

Review 37:Breakfast poor value for money as if you walked out of hotel across road you could get same breakfast for nearly half the cost.

Review 38:Central position friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed and nice French style.

Review 39:Bedroom and bathroom a bit small and not enough room for everyone to have breakfast at the same time.

Review 40:Lounge and Staff plus in the centre of the old part of Dinan. Comfortable bed

Review 41:No negatives!

Review 42:What a gem! From the moment we arrived we were looked after beautifully at this lovely old building right in the town centre. Tasteful decor, attractive public spaces, off-street parking, well equipped rooms with very comfortable beds and the best breakfast we had at any hotel in France.

Review 43:The window on the ground floor is next to the street, we can walk to the street from the window and vice versa. If we close the window, there is no air, it is very stuffy even in June. The local tax (additional 40 Euro) was charged in addition to the booking price.

Review 44:The hotel is conveniently located in the center of the town. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 45:Breakfast just ok.

Review 46:Michelle at the front desk was wonderful. We met a couple from Spain who stayed here seven years ago and wanted to come back. Very comfortable room , loved the historic town. Would definitely come back.

Review 47:Nothing to dislike apart from tight limited parking.

Review 48:The convenience of the hotel to all facilities in the town. Excellent recommendations from hotel staff re places to eat, the best being Le Fleur de Sel and la Lycorne.

Review 49:We had Room 30 which is on the 3rd floor in the very large attic area. It was average. There wasn't much artificial lighting, and natural light was limited, making the room quite dingy. The bathroom was OK (bath and shower), but there was no shower curtain or screen, which was less than ideal. The WiFi did work in almost all areas, but only just....it was painfully slow. The signal needs a significantly boost for an acceptable service.

Review 50:Excellent location in the centre of the old part of Dinan. Secure (pre-booked) parking for my motorbike. Staff very helpful and friendly, able to speak good English. Good, continental breakfast. Overall, the stay was acceptable, largely because of the Hotel's location, but not outstanding.

Review 51:Hotel perfectly placed in centre of Dinan. Bars and very good restaurants Wthin easy walking distance. Directional to the hotel were easy to find. It was great to have private parking with our own name on the space.

Review 52:It's in a good position. The room was roomy and comfortable and everything very clean. We were given good advice on places to eat and places to see.

Review 53:Hotels in the countryside need to realize that this is the 21st century and tourists expect air-conditioning and fridges in their rooms. We had to leave the windows open as it got too hot even in April , and then there was a lot of street noise. There was a safe in the wardrobe but it didn't work. I mentioned this twice to different people at the desk but it wasn't fixed during the 4 nights we were there.

Review 54:Large room, good view of Dinan, well-furnished with table and chairs.

Review 55:Just a bit more quantity in the breakfast.

Review 56:The location of the hotel is just perfect: in the city centre, with a private parking space (very acceptable price) - all what you need to visit the beautiful Dinan. The rooms are clean and really nice!

Review 57:Nothing to dislike. If the staff on other hotels where this welcoming and helpful there would be no bad reviews

Review 58:Could not be more central to the historic town of Dinan, car parking on site, warm welcome ,escorted to the room which was first class,

Review 59:We received a warm welcome and our parking place was ready for us. The bedroom was very comfortable and the breakfast was nicely presented. We were very happy with our over night stay.

Review 60:The hotel was ideally located close to the historic centre of Dinan. Everything we needed from restaurants to shops to attractions was within very easy reach. The on-site car parking was a definite plus, as was the quiet location.

Review 61:The staff were lovely; the location was excellent - right in the centre; and the hotel was very clean, pleasant and absolutely fantastic value for money

Review 62:Having to leave so soon.

Review 63:Arrived to a warm welcome & found secure parking place with my mane on it. A pleasure to stay here & these people really understand customer service. Very Happy.

Review 64:Hotel Arvor is extremely well situated in the lovely old town of Dinan. Very good restaurants nearby, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Have stayed there on several when the previous owners were there. It has been refurbished and modernised and is very comfortable

Review 65:Shame about the mosquitos!

Review 66:The staff were very friendly, location and quality of the hotel and decor was obviously well considered. The breakfast room was nicely set out and very in-keeping with the surroundings. Private parking on-site was reserved for us with a clearly marked space

Review 67:The bed and the bathroom in the suite left much to be desired - terrible mattress and under invested amenities

Review 68:Location, service, in-house massage service, charming ambiance and very comfortable

Review 69:Would be nice to have a restaurant in the hotel but that said it is only a few minutes walk to some very nice restaurants.

Review 70:The position of the hotel. Friendly, helpful staff. Off road, secure parking. Hotel décor and fittings. Very good breakfast.

Review 71:Breakfast not so good. No assistance in finding food, this was dotted through out two rooms.

Review 72:Helpful reception, good bathroom and bed. Quiet so goodnight sleep. Right in the centre of the old town.

Review 73:Rather noisy as cobbled street outside accentuates traffic sounds, but only what to be expected when staying in such a beautiful old town!.

Review 74:Central location .Very near to restaurants. Bedroom comfortable and pretty, bathroom and shower good. Staff pleasant and breakfast very good.

Review 75:At the apartment late night pedestrians kept us up in the apartment. Also, no phone or wifi at the apartment.

Review 76:The hotel room was standard but had more square footage than normal which was nice. The staff and breakfast were good and service was excellent. The apartment view was excellent of the city clock. The kitchen was also nice and spacious at the apartment.

Review 77:Room a bit sterile, some flair would help.

Review 78:Nicely appointed property in keeping with the character of the town. Room clean and comfortable, buffet breakfast average but good.

Review 79:Location inside ancient walled city. Such a cute place and very clean. We loved the cute country style with a modern bath. We enjoyed their breakfast in the charming setting. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 80:No air conditioning & terribly hot on 3rd floor (mind you it was a September warm spell). Summer must be unbearable. Room cramped & just passable.

Review 81:Location good for walking about the beautiful old city.

Review 82:Room 16 overlooks the street, so it is a little noisy. Particularly when the bin men come before 7am. Parking a bit tight, but then the hotel is in the middle if town

Review 83:Location perfect for what we wanted. Realistically everything was okay. It was a perfectly acceptable bed for the night.

Review 84:If you are a light sleeper, you will be bothered by the street noises early in the morning and the church bells that ring on the quarter hour from 7am until 10 pm.

Review 85:This was such a great location in a beautiful little town. They have parking (though very tight), but you don't need a car unless you travel out in the country. The staff was superb-really helped with dinner reservations and getting tickets to other sites.

Review 86:Great room looking out into the historic buildings of Dinan. Great staff and wonderful hostess that will see to your every need. Parking with reservation on property. Comfortable bar & sitting room. Within walking distance to shops, restaurants and the port. Staff speaks English.

Review 87:The staff were great and very helpful. The lounge area was nice and we enjoyed having afternoon drinks there before going out to dinner. I thought the room was good. I really liked the breakfasts there. Great value for money. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Review 88:The family suite was very dated and the many antique photographic portraits were creepy. Also, the shower room had old loose tiles and needed updating.

Review 89:The dining room and lounge area were nice

Review 90:The rooms gave only one complimentary bottle of water per person on arrival. After that there were none and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. A cup of tea therefore had to be requested and cost £3.00. Travellers love a cuppa after a long day and this could have been afforded, I feel, as part of the price. Useful to have a hotel carpark, but space very tight and needed quite a bit of juggling to get people in and out.

Review 91:The staff were extremely helpful, efficient and friendly. The decor was in trendy "shabby chic-antique" style which blended beautifully with its medieval location. Breakfast was plentiful and varied. The hotel has its own parking. Excellent value for money in such an historic, tourist town.

Review 92:Family room was spacious, comfortable beds to accommodate everyone. Terrific bathrooms up/down stairs; nice sitting area. Appreciated on site parking.

Review 93:Lack of tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Other than that the stay was excellent

Review 94:The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. They were very attentive and made us feel at home.

Review 95:In room only one small bottle of water for two people for two nights.Poor attention at breakfast. Coffee cold etc. Lack of coffee making facilities in room. It needs just that little bit more for this to be perfect. At these prices.

Review 96:Location, Car park,

Review 97:Nothing

Review 98:This is the second time we have stayed at the Arvor and was as great as the previous visit. The room was lovely, bed comfortable and staff couldn't be more helpful.

Review 99:Wifi didn't work which was quite disappointing. The decor of the bathroom wasn't really in keeping with the room.

Review 100:Room decor very romantic, shabby chic French. Location is superb, Dinan is beautiful. Bath in room 16 was very deep and filled very quickly.

Review 101:There is nothing to dislike about this hotel !

Review 102:We liked everything about this hotel, from the reserved car parking space with our name on it to the warm and informative reception welcome. Beautiful decor and lashings of hot water in the well appointed room, lovely bright an cheerful staff, altogether a very nice hotel that we look forward to staying in again!.

Review 103:We didn't like the fact that there were no outlets in the bathroom. It made it extremely difficult to get 3 people ready in the morning. The lack of air conditioning made the room stifling, especially with only one tiny window.

Review 104:All of the people at the reception desk were amazing!

Review 105:Okay - we arrived on a bank holiday weekend, so on the Saturday partying noises in the street went on very, very late. Not a problem subsequently. And you do have to breath in when you are parking as the spaces are tight...

Review 106:Pretty rooms, sun streaming in, friendly welcome, perfectly situated for drinking in the atmosphere of the old city: the building feels historic without being stuffy, too; good to have parking in Dinan - though see qualifications….

Review 107:Would have liked tea and coffee making facilities.

Review 108:Location. Spacious suite. Wonderful breakfast

Review 109:No car parking space available. No information provided about pre booking this

Review 110:The room was lovely - great view of the old town Fantastic location

Review 114:location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable

Review 115:Lots of character, friendly staff and perfect location.

Review 116:Friendly welcome and warm comfortable hotel in an excellent position within the town.

Review 117:Everything. Staff couldn't have been nicer and room was lovely

Review 118:Fantastic Room, Friendly Staff. Even had gluten free bread available.

Review 119:Pay parking on site very tight and difficult. Breakfast offering poor considering the cost.

Review 120:Was reasonably central. Good restaurants nearby

Review 121:Elevator arrangement inconvenient

Review 122:Location, friendly staff, available parking.

Review 123:Location

Review 124:Central position

Review 125:lovely room fantatsic central location very helpful reception staff
