Reviews for The Royal Adelaide Hotel
Review 1:All good although the car park price a little high given it is for the Hotel guests.
Review 2:Despite being an old style hotel it was very comfortable and warm. Really welcoming and helpful staff. Car parking (although charged) very useful in Windsor and a view of "The Long Walk" from the bar and bedroom windows! Really enjoyed our stay and theatre trip! Thank you
Review 3:Mattress awful very uncomfortable/ key card entry horrendous. Took at least 5 attempts to get in room/ t v reception poor/ place needed some t l c .
Review 4:Good location/helpful staff.
Review 5:we wasn't told breakfast was going to be an hour late so us and another family sat in the dark for 20 mins
Review 6:location was spot on. and such a lovely area
Review 7:The superior room didn't justify its title. Decoratively the room was fine, but the bathroom particularly the toilet was cramped, and the squeaky bed and lifeless mattress are in need of immediate replacement. Its a shame that the level of thought given to the look of the room wasn't extended to these basics!
Review 8:The hotel is in a good location near to the castle and park. The staff are friendly and welcoming.
Review 9:Lack of choice of good + eating out at night in Lowestoft.
Review 10:Staff are wonderful! Bed & comfort of first floor sea facing room brilliant. Desmond's amazing evening restaurant - take your own wine & make sure you are hungry! Tremendous atmosphere!
Review 11:We were put in a small double room even though we had paid for a standard one. Toilet didn't flush properly the sink smelt every time the taps were put on. Staff were unhelpful
Review 12:We would not return to the hotel
Review 13:Very expensive for the size of the room we paid especially during a low season.
Review 14:Location was good, close to Windsor city centre. The traditional English breakfast was nice.
Review 15:The negatives:- We were in a double but the size is really for a single. It is a real shame when they slice up these room to maximize profit.-There was no fridge freezer in the room which made things difficult.- Things go unnoticed: the handle of the drawer and the toilet brush were wobbly and came off as did the toilet paper holder.- They put an awful bed cover and cushions on the bed. They are stained and really worn out. It looked like a bacteria fest.- Details like cleaning the remote control are unnoticed, ours was greasy and dusty.- They go for cheap things. The bin bags are very thin, it doesn't take much for them to rip. The kettle and the tea and coffee things look very very cheap. they was even sugar from Pret à manger !- Breakfast: very disappointing. I paid over £600 for seven nights and for that price then cannot get nice food, it is ridiculous. The juice, the tea, the cereal and the bread are of very poor quality in particular. The fruit platter is a joke.- The staff is not properly trained: I got answers like "cool' , 'yeah' and sharp 'no's' when I was asking something. You are there to feel welcomed but they don't smile at you, there is absolutely no warmth. Forget refinement and finesse. There was only one British receptionist in the evening who was very good. Energetic and polite.- Every single time I came in and went out through the front entrance there was no one at reception. Anyone could come in !- They use cheap bleach to clean the place and lots of it, it smelled like a hospital. and for some reason it smells like cigarettes as well.- The cutlery they use is a disgrace. Ours was still stained with coffee and tea which shows they do not clean them thoroughly. When the cleaning lady did my room, she rinsed the cups and spoons down with a towel. No fresh ones.
Review 16:Despite everything, there were some. The positives: - the mattress is very comfortable. So much so it was hard to get out of bed. - the location is fantastic, it is literally in front of the Long Walk. - despite the technique, the blonde house keeper I had was very energetic and quick whilst also being discreet. - the room was nicely decorated. Nothing bold which made it very soothing. - although small, the room was cosy. but def not for too people. - you can move the tv around as it is attached to the wall. I'm afraid that is it for the positives.
Review 17:It was a little further from town than where we usually stay in Windsor And our room could have been cleaner, dust on lamps, carpet not vacumed very well. ,
Review 18:The staff were helpful and efficient It was ok for a one night stay.
Review 19:The food wasn't particularly good, nor the wine, although not bad either. It just didn't comeup to the standard of the everything else. Maybe the chef was having a bad day
Review 20:Very comfortable, lovely staff, excellent location
Review 21:Room's size was a little small for 2 people, but acceptable for a short stay.
Review 22:Location was excellent and quiet. Parking provided by hotel was very convenient. Breakfast very good with many different choices.
Review 23:No lift (this was stated on the website) and lots of stairs to climb as our room was on the second floor. The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk from Windsor & Eton Riverside station up and down hill but easy to find and in a quiet location
Review 24:We were upgraded to a superior room which was a nice touch as it was my husband's birthday and our room had a view of the park. The room was very spacious and comfortable although the bathroom was rather small. All the staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was varied and the staff couldn't do enough to help, thank you.
Review 25:With two friends in the bar. There was one other person in the bar. We ordered two half pint shandys. We were served with two pint shandys. Communication was obviously a problem and the bar tender was extremely anxious - so being British - we let it go!
Review 26:Room was clean and tidy.
Review 27:Difficult to access car park on arrival as no speaker to get barrier raised and hence one blocked narrow road . Bar man unskilled. Wrong order and forgot part of it! No lift.
Review 28:Available parking . Lovely early morning view over the Long Mile walk up to Castle.
Review 29:Size of room, size of bed, layout and size of bathroom, mould on ceiling in bathroom, parking area very small even with a small car.
Review 30:Breakfast wasn't bad
Review 31:ironing facilities were poor ,iron board was ideal for a dwarf and bog standard non steam iron and no use whatsoever .
Review 32:location was ideal for short stroll into town.
Review 33:Breakfast was not to great. Fair enough we went for breakfast late (10.20am) everything was still warm. Becon was not great at all and the scrummbled egg was soaked with butter which I did not liked.
Review 34:Staff was very good. Polite and cheerfull. We did enjoy our stay although the room was next to stairs (42) and we got woken up by guests going downstairs for breakfast and checking out.Not a big deal though.
Review 35:The bed was far too hard, the bathroom was very cramped, the water from the sink had an overpowering egg smell.
Review 36:Great location, and the room was clean.
Review 37:Was disappointed that we found a hair on the fruit for breakfast . We informed staff and all she did was to remove the hair, forgetting an apology, first thing would be to discard the contents. The staff did neither!
Review 38:Checking in and location
Review 39:The hotel wasa little 'tired' and looked like it needed redecorating. Rooms were nice though. Dining room was small and evening meal was very disappointing. Some meals were incorrect and the standard of food was very average
Review 40:Hotel was in a lovely location and very handy for town centre and castle without being right in the centre
Review 41:Rooms ade a bit small, facilities are limited.
Review 42:Very hassle free check in and check out, friendly staff, great location, great food.Second time I 've stayed here, would do so again.
Review 43:Like everywhere in Windsor the planes are constant, being on the fight path you do hear them all the time!
Review 44:Nice position near the park and only a short walk to the centre. Very nice staff and a good breakfast in the morning!
Review 45:The cooked breakfast was good but it arrived before we had chance to eat our breakfast cereal. There was no apology or offer to take it away and keep it hot and our table ended up crowded with plates and dishes. We felt we were being rushed.
Review 46:The location was excellent - very close to Windsor Castle and the central shopping area
Review 47:Some of the staff could do with putting on happier faces, their miserable attitude particularly at the bar and at breakfast was not very welcoming. Others, including the receptionists and the waitress on evening duties were most charming. Appreciating that this is an old building, several areas could do with a jolly good clean. There were dirty finger marks on several of the corridor doors, and in our room, the soft furnishings at the window, and the bedspreads were ingrained with dust. The information in the welcome folder (which was dirty and broken) was out of date in several places. We ate (alone) in the restaurant one evening. The waitress was welcoming and the food quite good, but at breakfast there seemed to be an element of thriftiness eg only one little jar of jam and one pat of butter each, no granulated sugar for cereals and the oldest tattiest plastic bottles of ketchup and brown sauce. The sugar bowls in the restaurant were deep and only a minimal number of sugar cubes were placed in each before each meal. No tongs were provided so we had to resort to finger grabbing. Not very hygienic if everyone does the same. A few small touches would raise the standard of this hotel greatly, and a jolly good clean-up would brighten everything nicely.
Review 48:We liked the location of the hotel and the opportunity for private parking (if a little expensive at £15 a night)
Review 49:The extra charges for using Visa. There is no elevator, the stairs are very steep and narrow and no one offered to help with our luggage. Rooms need a full updating; the lounge has been very poorly redone and place needs a thorough painting and cleaning. Pictures on-line do not tell the tale. Very disappointed.
Review 50:Except for location there is very little to recommend this hotel
Review 51:There is no way this should have 4-star status. The outside of the hotel is very nice but once inside it is immediately evident that it is in need of a major refurb. Carpets and walls are tired, room has what could best be described as "functional" furniture. Bathroom was okay and didn't have any shower issues but the towels were thin, small and fraying. I did ask for better towels and was told that a "towel is just a towel, what else did I want?" Although to be fair receptionist did offer to try to find some better ones. Parking at £15 is a joke considering the room price and seemed like unnecessary, cynical penny pinching. I parked elsewhere out of principle. As I said this nowhere near a 4 star hotel. I will not be staying there again.
Review 52:Staff were reasonably friendly
Review 53:Hotel was very untidy with workmen replacing lights in reception, rooms were unclean, bar was overpriced, overall a very unpleasant experience, car park spaces too small,
Review 54:The tiniest car park and you must pre-book! No lift and steep stairs. It's very compact and noise from other rooms can be a nuisance.
Review 55:Friendly staff, well equipped rooms, decent breakfast. WiFi works.
Review 56:No heating, Luke warm water in the shower, broken wonky bed which made loads of noise. Not a superior room, very very small. No idea where the 4* comes in to place in regards to this hotel. Customer service was zero. Didn't receive a welcome when we arrived, didn't see one memeber of staff smile. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming.
Review 57:Location
Review 58:The rooms are very tired looking need updating and a the carpet needed changing . The walls are so thin I could every ting in the next room
Review 59:Staff were pleasant
Review 60:The room was small, but it's ok for this price range. A proper steaming iron would have been nice.
Review 61:Staff was very helpful, and you can have order hot meals for breakfast, which is nice.
Review 62:The Royal Adelaide is in a good location for visiting Windsor, but aside from that, there is nothing attractive about this hotel. We booked this hotel because it seemed a little more reasonable than some of the other options in Windsor, but trust me, it is not worth the savings! The minute we walked into the lobby, I new this hotel choice was a mistake. The lobby is tired, the carpet old and worn and the furnishings, mismatched and dated. We asked where our rooms were and were told there wasn't a lift, so we dragged out luggage up several flights of stairs and through a maze of hallways, to find our very small, extremely disappointing rooms. In general, the rooms (we had booked 3 rooms)were dark and dreary, the single rooms seriously looked like an inside cabin on a ship! The carpets needed repair, they were worn and marked. the bathrooms were not dirty, but needed updating. The rooms were bland and ugly. We walked down the street and found a beautiful hotel...it was a bit more expensive, but 100% different in quality. We checked out of the Royal Adelaide, (we were literally there 15 minutes) had to pay for one night ...but the difference in out comfort and vacation experience at the Castle Hotel was well worth the change. Save yourself the trouble and don't book at the Royal Adelaide.
Review 63:Would be great to have sensor lights on landings as they never switched off during the night and when your bed is a metre from the door it does creep through. Toilet was blocked, did ask for it to be fixed think they did come but wasn't sorted-would of been good to be inform when back from day out Parking at £15 is a bit steep especially when the hotel say there have been an high increase in car thief in the area. The car park isn't secure as just a car park.
Review 64:Staff, breakfast, rooms, view, access to the long walk and centre of Windsor, use of free wifi
Review 65:The reception area, needs a revamp. The bar closed at 11 on the dot. Breakfast finished at 10 but the staff were clearing everything away by 9.55 and were a little bit surly.
Review 66:The hotel was close to the Castle and the town.
Review 67:you had to book a parking spot which was not made clear when booking with you if I had of booked it the price was 15.00 which is terrible this is rated 4 star it should be 2 when they say a small double room the double bed was a very small 4ft bad night sleep for my husband and I things should be made clear when booking with you the hotel said booking.com is a load of rubbish
Review 68:just the location near the long walk
Review 69:Showers are unreliable. If too many people taking showers then they do not warm up. Parking for guests should cost less.
Review 70:Location, staff & value for money
Review 71:Didn't sleep well due to the air conditioning generators outside our window on the nearby roof. Hot water to the wash hand basins was intermittent at best. Never enough tea and milk in the room. Breakfast was basic, quality of ingredients could be better. Staff didn't ask for our feedback at checkout.
Review 72:We had the four poster bed bedroom which was clean and big enough for us. The bathroom was a good size with bath and shower cubicle.
Review 73:Was given a room in annexe building - lights blew when we switched them on plus only one exit out - not good in a fire - we asked to be moved and were to room 25 but net curtains had stains on them - breakfast very rushed - only served between 8 and 9 - seemed to be understaffed - tables not being wiped - half used preserve pots on our table - the whole place needs a revamp - think will stick with premier inn in the future!!!!
Review 74:The location was good
Review 75:No hot water in room. But when the staff were notified we did receive a reduction in the final bill.
Review 76:Lovely friendly helpful staff. Good location-10 min walk into centre. Great breakfast.
Review 77:The noise of the aircrafts approaching the airport is unbearable. But this affects all Windsor, not just this hotel.
Review 78:Clean, close to downtown and convenient.
Review 79:We had no hot water when we arrived. We were told it was because so many other guests were taking showers... strange. The next morning there was no hot water for showers. Disorganised in the dining room for breakfast.
Review 80:The hotel is in a good location near the town centre
Review 81:Limited dinner menu. The different rooms are quite variable in size and furnishings.
Review 82:Friendly, helpful staff. Good food (dinner and breakfast). I have stayed at this hotel many times for business.
Review 83:The receptionist was welcoming and pleasant and helped with directions and recomendations as we were new to the area. The room was both spacious and clean and the bed was gorgeous.
Review 84:Very tight street through which car park can be accessed. Hotel bar closes before midnight.
Review 85:Hotel room was nice and cosy, lovely bathroom too. The general look of hotel was good too. Breakfast menu has many options and tastes good. Location wise, it's close enough to walk to the town centre and Windsor Castle.
Review 86:Didn't really like the room - not a great deal of space because of the layout of it.Breakfast was good but would have preferred fresh fruit salad with it as opposed to pieces of fruit.
Review 87:Liked being able to walk into Windsor and to the Great Park.Good to have patking on site.We would return if in the area again.
Review 88:The room we got looked nothing like those shown on the website and was small considering it was supposed to be a deluxe room.
Review 89:The staff and restaurant food selection were generally very good apart from one grouchy lady serving in the bar.
Review 90:There was not much local knowledge about places to visit from staff i.e. when asked about local attractions like Frogmore House and other places of interest - very little known. I felt the evening meal was expensive for 2 burgers and chips.
Review 91:Close to Windsor High Street. Clean and comfortable rooms. Friendly staff. Good breakfast included.
Review 92:"Call reception for the WiFi"..? Really?! Gaffa tape on the bedroom walls. Noisy floorboards above us. Didn't ask how the stay was or acknowledge that I'd made a point that it was our anniversary. Complicated payment process.
Review 93:Location is great of course, but you're paying for that. Wouldn't rate it as a 4*
Review 94:had trouble with hot water, did get it eventually just not when we needed it. probably because the room was at the end of the plumbing line.
Review 95:excellent service from staff
Review 96:Breakfast staff
Review 97:Breakfast is very bad, the waiters are reluctant to give you food and tend to give you an initial thought that full English breakfast is not included. Therefore, many guest thought only the cold continental breakfast was offered even though their room rate include everything.
Review 98:Wifi variable No lift. Lots of stairs Walls a bit thin (noise transmission) Not much choice of wines for dinner.
Review 99:Reasonable room with usual facilities Good choice at breakfast.
Review 100:Bed could have been better quality - it was hard.
Review 101:Breakfast quality and service was good. Location was handy to the castle and the Long Walk. Good night's rest.
Review 102:Shower over the bath was slippery and difficult to get out onto a slippery floor. We knew about the steps to our second floor room but it was still quite a hall with suitcases packed for a long trip.
Review 103:Quaint, friendly staff and we enjoyed our breakfast which was served quickly. Parking was good and it was an easy walk to the castle
Review 104:The planes !! Ha ha i know its not your fault but it must drive you all crazy lol
Review 105:I loved the way the staff looked after you in the hotel and i had a drink before hand in the lounge and a lady took me to my table and was very good and helpful I will be booking again in october
Review 106:Need to sort out the air-con it makes a bubble sound during operation which can be annoying when trying to sleep.
Review 107:Lovely breakfast.. and service with a smile
Review 108:Too narrow corridors that lead to rooms, you cannot bypass anyone because there is simply not enough room. No elevator so need to bring the suitcases through narrow corridors on foot. Airplane noise from the neighboring Heathrow airport. Very poor WiFi coverage in the restaurant. Too few tables for the breakfast during weekends, need to wait to get seated. No buffet breakfast and poor choice of food compared to other 4 star hotels. A bit overpriced. Single bed room is too small if you come with big suitcase. Shower is also too narrow to fit in
Review 109:location, staff friendliness, room and bathroom equipment, overall hotel design. Good WiFi signal in the rooms. Food is ok, hotel and room cleaningness.
Review 110:The communal areas are very poor - the breakfast was awful - and it's hard to go wrong with a full english!!! - don't know what they fry in but it tastes repulsive
Review 111:the location - only a 10 minute walk into the centre. The building was nice but needs a major overhaul. The room itself was a nice surprise as you expect very little as you walk through the communal areas!!
Review 112:Lots of stairs in the hotel; no lift. Kind of a pain to get your suitcases to/from the room. The car park is very tight, but at least there's parking available if you book in advance. Lastly, although I was quite happy with my single room (quiet, clean and comfortable), the bed was uncomfortable and definitely needs to be replaced. I was so tired every night, it didn't keep me from sleeping!
Review 113:Very pleasant staff; happy to accommodate to my requests. Rooms nicely decorated within last several years. Nice breakfast - perfect toast every day! Terrific location - the Long Walk is literally across the street. It's also a very quick walk into the town centre.
Review 114:Dinner stops too early. No lift. Breakfast is late on Sunday.
Review 115:Not right in the middle of town but close enough for a short stroll to many sights worthy of seeing.
Review 116:I had a bath and pulled the plug out and poo came up through the plug in the shower tray.
Review 117:We liked where the hotel was and the evening meal and breakfast was great.
Review 118:Bought a round of beers before we went into Windsor and the beer was warm and cloudy.
Review 119:The young gentleman on reception was extremely polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others visiting Windsor.
Review 120:No lift, was difficult to manage with luggage, early timings for breakfast.
Review 121:Big spacious rooms, checkout not till 11am,big bathroom and nice toiletries.
Review 122:Very hot day. We sat outside in garden with a drink from the bar. This area is in need of attention. It could be lovely. A nice patio area with pots etc and garden furniture.
Review 123:Excellent location to town centre. Excellent value for money. Breakfast delicious! Small double room was more than adequate for our needs.
Review 124:Staff were brilliant and very helpful. Room was lovely and as per description. Air con was very good. Had an evening meal & breakfast - both very enjoyable and service was excellent.
Review 125:I arrived late with a small child and was told there was no food - I could walk ten minutes to take-aways if I wanted or I could call for takeaway. Room was standard double which you would imagine could accomodate one adult and one child but it didnt - a generous single room maybe. The shower door had to be opened across the toilet. Air con was broken - or set to only work for 10 minutes. Windows were bolted closed and the heat was unbearable. cooked breakfast wasnt edible. Rubber for ham on a curdled eggs benedict. My daughter did her best with the worst sausages I have ever tasted.
Review 126:Very little. It was in Windsor.
Review 127:Base of shower screen was filthy (look from in bath). TV an obstacle to movement.
Review 128:Breakfast - cooked kept at a good temp. and frequently topped up. Staff there busy but attentive.
Review 129:The room was very small bed uncomfortable & the decor was very poor. For price we paid we expected a clean comfortable room as we have had in the past when staying here
Review 130:The location was good for theatre visit & town
Review 131:Room was very dusty, and small, I paid extra for a 'superior' room, furniture very tired and scratched/chipped, air con very noisy all night, breakfast finished too early.
Review 132:Good location, helpful check in (Kate). Was to find, close to castle but away from irritating crowds and loud tourists.
Review 133:Walls very thin, could hear every noise in hotel. Had a bad drain smell in room after first night.
Review 134:Hotel was very clean throughout. Breakfast was good.
Review 135:The bathroom was clean, but could have smelt a bit better :( The plug for the kettle was too short to reach the power point so we had to balance it on the bin.
Review 136:Helpful, friendly staff
Review 137:The two nights we stayed it was very warm and humid, the air con was useless.
Review 138:Short walk to the centre of Windsor. Breakfast was very good. The staff are very helpful.
Review 139:Bathroom got wet from shower, happens in most place .
Review 140:The booking I made was different to what the hotel had me down as thanks to the booking site I used, the staff were friendly and sorted the misunderstanding, they gave me what I wanted they put an extra bed in to a double room as the booking site did not put down for the children, the room was still big enough for all four of us
Review 141:No problems - but £15 per night seemed a lot for the car park, albeit par for the course in hotels it seems.
Review 142:Central for walking around Windsor/Etonian and the river and with a car park.
Review 143:My first impression on arrival from a dark haired young lady was stern. No smile, very unwelcoming. We encountered 6 members of staff and 3 of them had very unfriendly attitude. Best were blonde chambermaid, tall waiter and blonde receptionist on checkout
Review 144:The room and breakfast were most positive features
Review 145:No parking space available nearest car park was 6 minute walk away . Not good if you were a person on your own and had to walk from car park . Receptionist was a bit unfriendly. Would never stay or recommend this hotel.
