Reviews for Hotel Xanadu
Review 1:Breakfast was a bit weak. There was an initial problem when the fact that we had pre paid for breakfast didn't appear on their system and it took several attempts to sort out. When we finally had breakfast there wasn't much. We ended up getting a refund and eating out at local restaurants.
Review 2:I (stupidly) left my iPad in my room when I checked out. The hotel rang me straight away and kept my iPad locked in their safe until I returned to collect it. Great service, and very honest.
Review 3:It is indeed convenient to Ealing but a train ride to central London. It used to offer tremendous value for money - now more variable, as I imagine they have more demand for rooms so can charge more. We had a problem with the heating in our first room, but staff sorted it out the next day.
Review 4:We have stayed at Xanadu three times and come back because we like the atmosphere. Staff are always helpful and do their best to help out. Rooms are quiet and though the hotel was full we did not hear anyone else. We tried the on-site restaurant - also realy good. We will be back!
Review 5:Offered breakfast in our room on check in which we took up. On check out were then informed this was at a cost of 9.95 per person or £19.90 all together. Disappointed in there being no mention of this when the option was offered. Paid it begrudgingly as this seemed quite steep considering the going rate in most hotels is £2-3 per person. Breakfast wasn't all that either.
Review 6:Lovely personalised service as you would expect for a boutique hotel. Good location with close parking Decor/cleanliness
Review 7:Even though the decoration was very nice, it lacked a little of light when using the computer. The night staff told us that the hotel could not keep our luggage after checkout , which turned out to be a wrong information.
Review 8:The location was perfect for our purpose. It was clean and well equipped. The staff was generally helpful despite the comment above
Review 9:Prices in London are never cheap and it didn't include breakfast which, at £20 more, never seems value for money
Review 10:The location was perfect for what we wanted - Ealing broadway tube is a few minutes walk
Review 11:They tried to tell us we hadn't booked a twin (we did - it was on the printout I had). They sorted it out after a bit of a slightly heated conversation! They advised us we should have booked directly with them - not though Booking.com
Review 12:Clean, good location for the tube, bars, pubs, restaurants etc.
Review 13:Booked a twin room but given a double. Due to lack of staff it could not be looked into until 11:00pm!! And then it couldn't be rectified. Hotel refused to accept any responsibility due to it being a Booking.com reservation.
Review 14:Nice decor, facilities and comfort
Review 15:Advertised on Booking.com that it was less than 5 miles to Wembley stadium which was our sole purpose for the stay. In fact it was miles away! half an hour in a taxi at £23 per journey to which it cost us just under £70 in taxis to and from Wembley as we were told by the hotel staff that it would be easier to go to Wembley first then get a bus to the hotel, we wernt told the bus takes an hour! After Wembley there was no chance of a taxi with 84000 people coming out so we had to walk as far as the motorway then wait an hour until a taxi was willing to stop for us.
Review 16:The room didn't have a mini bar.
Review 17:The location was great. An easy trip into central London via Tube or fast train to Paddington. Easy trip to Heathrow via train. Plentiful restaurants, pubs and bars in ealing, which is a lovely urban area. Rooms are clean, comfortable and pleasant, and significantly cheaper then Central London. Give this place a go, you won't regret it.
Review 18:nothing
Review 19:good hotel handy to the tube. central to get into London and Heathrow airport. good english pub around corner called drappers arms. great for meals and beer
Review 20:The only thing I noticed when taking a hot shower was that the water went a little cold Intermitantly. This only lasted a few seconds and went back to hot water.
Review 21:The location was great and the room was very comfortable.
Review 22:Only minor but bathroom had musty smell (probably a leak somewhere)
Review 23:Warm, efficient welcome by reception staff, lovely room and hotel decor, good breakfast. 5 minutes walk from Tube.
Review 24:No fridge in the room, breakfast wasn't included in tge price.
Review 25:Excellent hotel with good facilities. Good location only half an hour outside of London.
Review 26:Very very rude receptionist answered the phone 3 times when we was in front of her and didn't apologise for keeping us waiting 25 mins Asked my friend for her card and didn't explain why or what for just handed out her hand and said card Dirty cloth left in the shower with stains on Maid told us the room wasn't ready and to get off the carpet! A bit pricey for a standard room No info on the spa or check out times or restaurant! Appealing service I have stayed in 18 pound a night travel lodges that have given me much better service
Review 27:Free wifi Comfy bed Big windows Hair dryer in room
Review 28:Air conditioning didn't work and no room upgrade or compensation offered in return. Very hot in July which affected sleeping.
Review 29:Clean bedroom. Breakfast room was quiet and had enough of a selection.
Review 30:Decor a little dark and dull. Pool, gym or spa on site would have been nice.
Review 31:Very friendly and helpful staff. Good location handy to get to from the airport.
Review 32:check-in and check-out was slow, and complicated with staff at both looking utterly lost and bewildered. friendly, but bewildered.
Review 33:room, design, cleanliness, location
Review 34:There isn't a proper hotel bar. Only one is in the restaurant which has no atmosphere and you pay service change on every drink you have, even though we were sitting at the bar!
Review 35:Location and cleanliness of the hotel and rooms.
Review 36:The receptionist on the day of our stay was a challenge. Strange "humour" and ignored us for what seemed like ages upon arrival. Checkout was not very smooth.
Review 37:Great rate.
Review 38:Didn't have a bad experience but the pulsating shower that the water changes water temperature was slightly annoying. That's about it.
Review 39:The Staff are super friendly and sincere. The beds are amazing.
Review 40:Rooms feel very bare , and are more to a level of a 3 star hotel. Staff at the restaurant and bar were not very good. Even though the hotel isn't that expensive it's def over priced concidering facilities, service and that it's in ealing .
Review 41:Staff are pretty helpful. Clean hotel.
Review 42:I'd like to have breakfast varied. Sometime room smelled but this disappeared in two days. I presume it may be vent problems or air conditioner's filter.
Review 43:Location, staff, rooms
Review 44:Single wardrobe in double room, we were booked for 4 nights ! Housekeeping failed to replace used tea/milk & replace with clean cups No late bar.
Review 45:Nice clean hotel, quiet location, with helpful staff.
Review 46:I had requested a romantic wth a bath tub a week prior to my visit, when I arrived in the rim there wasn't a tub. When enquired about this at the desk I was told no request had been made, which it cearly had as they had put me in an upper storey room as requested, and told they would not change me rooms.
Review 47:The hotel room was really nice, very clean and finished to a hug standard.
Review 48:The Chinese restaurant is the best we've ever had. So to have a great meal and drinks and then go to a clean comfortable room for the night is brilliant. All of ealing shops are right on door step. Our 2 nd stay we definitely be back. Great room price too
Review 49:Staff were so helpful and everything was so spotlessly clean. one of your staff very kindly sent me my hearing aid which I had dropped in the hotel
Review 50:Beds very narrow. I am a size 16 and nearly fell out twice during the night. service in the bar. We got our first cocktail and would have liked another but no chance. Staff seemed to melt away, even found it hard to find someone in order to pay.
Review 51:Location excellent. reception Staff very good. facilities beautiful, very clean. Breakfast excellent. Good value.
Review 52:The restaurant is seperate to the hotel. A different company it seems?
Review 53:Great staff. Modern, stylish rooms. The most superb shower and the most comfortable bed. A great spot.
Review 54:The room is small. Ealing is a bit far from city centre. The hotel was fairly expensive for the location.
Review 55:The room was very modern and nice. The bed was comfortable and the hotel was fairly quiet. The hotel restaurant was delicious. Metro is close.
Review 56:Price hike For a regular customer, I expect the best room, especially as I book in advance and not the poor state I was given H&S safety issue in bathroom: No grab rail and flimsy, unstable screen.
Review 57:Location only
Review 58:The can improve the doors to shut more quietly and noise of the floor when people walk in corridors... Having said that...it wasn't bad..i am a light sleeper but still managed to sleep well
Review 59:Very clean, nice staff and nice room(atlrast mine was clean and perfect on the 5th floor room 504...recommended for sure because it faces back side of the street, so quiet too).
Review 60:Shower temp always fluctuates Room felt tiny, with no fridge to store food or drinks Room on first floor was beside roof (concrete) and fire escape.
Review 61:Easy access by train to London Lots of restaurants and sights nearby Nice breakfast
Review 62:Wireless connectivity, Only allows http/http a protocols and blocks other protocols like SSH , that were required for my job. Which means I couldn't use hotel's wireless service
Review 63:The one and only minor issue was being some distance from London central, which for our vacation was essential. Even so, the bus/train/underground system is excellent.
Review 64:Our Double Room was excellent by any international standard. We had a very comfortable and enjoyable 2 day stay. The promotion photos for the hotel are real world photos, and are complimented by very friendly, helpful and courteous staff. The breakfast restaurant provides a world class outstanding selection whatever your requirements are, and the staff are outstanding. Being right is the heart of Ealing there is a large choice of restaurants/pubs to choose from. This is certainly a place we will be staying at on our next London visit.
Review 65:Good location, easily take central/district line to city center, and Heathrow Connect to the airport. Excellent breakfast, brand new facilities, stable WIFI. Professional staff at reception 24 hours a day, and they are really helpful. We were very much impressed with this hotel, and will definitely return next time.
Review 66:the ajoining room door was not locked, just had a notice on it saying, this door should remain closed' . that didn't make me feel safe and I pushed the luggage stand in front of he door. A simple bolt will suffice.
Review 67:the decor, the refreshments, the comfort, the cleanliness, the location, the friendliness of the staff
Review 68:We were here for 7 nights. This hotel is professionally run, nothing to complain really, simply the best in its class. Unbeatable location (10m walk to underground station, where you take Central/District line, 20m direct train to Heathrow by Connect), the neighboring is very convenient and pleasant. All room facilities are brand new, perfect breakfast, good and stable WIFI. There are always people at the reception to help. We do feel at home, and will definitely return next time.
Review 69:None.
Review 70:Excellent room with good choices of breakfast. Good restaurant in the hotel and in the vicinity. Easily accessible from central London with Central Line.
Review 71:The New Stuff At The New Chinese Restaurant Are Very Rude,
Review 72:Front Disk, and Stuff are very Friendly, specially a lady named Rebecca, she's the best and very helpful.
Review 73:Bit of a trek to the station and it takes a while to get to central London - but so worth it for this value for money comfort!
Review 74:The beds are great here - large and with excellent mattresses. Rooms are quiet and we had a nice room at the back so we looked out at trees. A very relaxing stay. The staff are always welcoming and we feel that we are expected when we stay here. Great job Hotel Xanadu!
Review 75:Too few staff on breakfast to keep buffet, toast etc stocked, and serve coffee/tea, even when the breakfast restaurant was not crowded. OK breakfast, but could be even better (esp better quality pastries and toast, and wider selection of fruits, juices and muesli).
Review 76:Nice hotel, good service, really nice room and great possibility of going to fitness club with pool - really worth the extra little walk. Really good coffee and hospitality tray in room and excellent coffee at breakfast, good toiletries etc - restocked when needed. Good bed and towels.
Review 77:As a solo traveller it was expensive but great value for 2. Would love to stay again to visit my son but due to cost may sadly have to look else where
Review 78:Brilliant breakfast well done
Review 79:Lack of a mini fridge. Lighting poor. Check out time too early - not conforming to the norm. Bed mattress too soft and too low.

Review 85:Bar staff setting up breakfast tables at 10.30pm while guests enjoying a "nightcap"
Review 86:Friendliness of staff. We arrived Wednesday 23rd July, lady on reception was very welcoming and asked if we were going to visit the city. Explained we were here to visit our newborn granddaughter and when we returned about 11pm same lady, after a long day on reception, remembered us and asked how our little baby was getting on.
Review 87:Lack of car-parking is an issue No tea pot (we are British you know) Shower temperature not as stable as elsewhere.
Review 88:The rooms are well maintained, no light bulbs out, no 'temporary repairs' TV that you can actually see from the bed Telephone - becoming less common but can be helpful Feels very secure 'Real' coffee making facilities rather than instant.
Review 89:Evening bar staff turned the lights off on us whilst we were enjoying a late night drink. Given it's a quiet area for nightlife this was pretty irritating.
Review 90:Good check in, nice clean modern rooms, great shower
Review 91:- breakfast was very low in products to choose from - no minibar in the room - no response to my email request
Review 92:- the comfort of the bad - clean room
Review 93:Noise from street was frustrating and also other guests making noise in hall at 6am. Bed was very soft but some people like that, not for us though.
