Reviews for Hotel De La Tour De L'horloge
Review 1:The owner was very friendly, who helped in anyway she could. She was very kind with our limited French and spoke very good English. Location was perfect, breakfast was delicious, room comfortable and clean. More than we hoped for, even after reading all the great reviews.
Review 2:Very difficult to find. Remote parking, figure out how pay-parking works. Difficult to move luggage to location. Wi-fi poor. Bathtub only.
Review 3:The general neighborhood was great for walking. Pleasant breakfast. Nice to have small refrigerator (kitchenette) for our snacks. Very nice woman at reception desk in the morning.
Review 4:The room was too tiny for 2 people. You could literally only stand up straight in 1/2 the room. We should have upgraded.... Also, the very late night (early am) bar noise from outside was a bit much.
Review 5:The hostess was amazing - a wealth of info. The location couldn't have been better. The bathroom was nice and big - bigger, I'm afraid , than the room....
Review 6:I love this hotel! I interacted with two staff members ( I'm sorry I do not recall their names - a young man and a woman who may be the hotel manager), they were both incredibly friendly, helpful, and hospitable. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The location of this hotel is amazing, situated in a quaint alleyway right in the heart of Dinan. If I ever make it back to this town I will definitely stay here.
Review 7:On leaving , being told by Catherine that she may sell this bespokehotel and go . very sad to here this .....
Review 8:This was the third time here , and my third review of this hotel . Asbefore, everything was clean , in the ideal location , but overall wasmade a special hotel by the owner Catherine.
Review 9:Some noise from outside early in the morning, and lack of tea making in the room and chairs. Lack of parking.
Review 10:Location, location, location! And the charming proprietor, who was always helpful.
Review 11:The room was okay, but not as good as I expected. The breakfast was disappointing. I couldn't see a lift, and as the rooms were on a number of floors, I think elderly residents or people with lots of luggage will struggle.
Review 12:A lovely central location, with a friendly staff member.
Review 13:No complaints, although had to park the car some distance away.
Review 14:Central location in Dinan which is a quaint town with lots of interesting history and architecture, and good access to the river side area.
Review 15:Reminds me of an old style B and B you would see in a Victorian seaside town. The interior design does not match the medieval building
Review 16:Located in the heart of the city, cheap and cheerful.
Review 17:The location is right in the middle of the old town. The staff are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is a great place to stay: excellent value!
Review 18:We had difficulty finding the hotel. Also difficulty fining parking anywhere near. Dinan is a noisy town at night.
Review 19:The manager Katherine was excellent. She helped us find parking and suggested restaurants etc
Review 20:The innkeeper, Catherine, was exceptional in her friendliness and providing of services to us -- everything from carefully outlining driving directions to various sites to providing food and drink and even ice packs for me to use in curbing swelling caused by an insect bite received while on a picnic in Normandy -- not Dinan! Catherine and her centrally located inn, Hotel de la Tour de l'Horloge, are truly a pleasant and welcome traveling experience.
Review 21:lighting in room poor but that's because have to use low energy bulbs, bathroom pretty old, but didn't matter! During day cant drive to outside of hotel so have to carry bags from the local car park - but that was fine too!
Review 22:quirky hotel in historic building right in the heart of Dinan. our room had unusual but lovely decor, crisp linen, large bathroom with most comfortable bath I've ever used.
Review 23:Room was very small under the roof therefore one side of the bed could hardly be accessed without bumping head on ceiling I would have liked an elevator to carry my luggage.
Review 24:Location in the old town, near the lovely Place des Merciers
Review 25:Those with difficulty carrying bags upstairs might struggle.
Review 26:Wonderful hotel owner who had all sorts of advice on what to do and see. Lovely old building in the absolute centre of town, yet only 15mins walk from the train station. Dinan is a superb town.
Review 27:There was a loud party in the restaurant next door to our Hotel on the last night of our stay. They did not observe the after 10 curfew for quiet and continued until around 11:30. Our Hostess had no control over this event.
Review 28:The hostess was so friendly and informative. She helped us with our tour and she spoke English very well. Her breakfast each morning made us feel like we were visiting a friend.
Review 29:Stairs are a nightmare and the WIFI is non existent unfortunately. Very basic breakfast. Could really do with a makeover.
Review 30:The owner was great and the location is super...
Review 31:The room could do with a second chair or suitcase holder.
Review 32:The hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the old town. Comfortable bed and the breakfast is good value.
Review 33:Nothing
Review 34:Very good location in most beautiful place Katherine in charge very informative we had cycled on cycle route from dinard to dinan amazing experience so I wud highly recommend this place to visit and this accommodation dee and john
Review 35:The location was very good right in the heart of Dinan. There are a couple of large car parks 2 minutes walk away which are free overnight (so we only payed a couple of Euros from 7pm to 10am). The bed was very comfortable and the hostess was very friendly and helpful. Overall we thought this hotel was very good value for money.
Review 36:I stayed here for one night and everything was great.Very nice bedroom with en suite, breakfast for 7.50 euros was just right. The landlady Catherine was a fantastic host, very welcoming and friendly. We asked for directions to the train station but she insisted on driving us the 30 kilometers to St Malo, for which we we so grateful.Thank you again.I'd have no hesitation in recomending this hotel.
Review 37:cold room
Review 38:호스트 할아버지가 친절하지만 영어를 전혀 못해요 조식은 그저 그랬어요 호텔이낡았지만 도시자체가 오래된 도시라서 당연한 것이예요 Host was really kind, even he couldnt speak english at all but we could understand it
Review 39:The location is hard to find, we had to local for the direction. And there's no elevator, we had to carry our luggages clam up stairs. Not suggest luggages travel. However the staff was so helpful, she suggested the walking tour path and helped us to call the taxi. Very beautiful and fansy room decoration
Review 40:A lovely hotel, with a owner that speaks very good English , and this same owner could not do more when making you feel comfortable and is always on hand to help with anything. Clean and the décor was a treat.
Review 41:No private parking.
Review 42:Dinan is a beautiful Middle Ages tourist location which is enhanced by choosing this very friendly bijou hotel in the heart of the old town for a visit. The Madame owner is very friendly, accommodating and was willing to engage in improving my haltering French. She also converses in English and Spanish. A French experience to treasure. This was a return visit as we loved our stay there so much last time.
Review 43:We were on the ground floor with a door out onto the alley and at night the room became a little stuffy despite the window above the door. It would've been nice to have a fan or a ceiling fan.
Review 44:Everything was very clean. It was also nice that there were so many beds. The bathroom was very convenient. I like the small kitchen and dining table. It would have been a easy place to stay for a prolonged period of time.
Review 45:We loved this hotel! It was very clean & the location couldn'tbe better. Right in the heart of town. Katherine is absolutely - herenglish is great & she gave us lots of helpful information about thetown, brought in an extra bed for us, and helped us out when our carbattery died. The location couldn't be better, you will love it.
Review 46:The entrance was next to a run down pass through area to the clock tower and it smelled like urine! The front door looked out at old plywood. The clock tower rang very loudly and very early in the morning and we were not aware of that.
Review 47:Katherine was wonderful, very helpful and extremely thoughtful. She gladly spent extra time helping us with train issues. The family room was spacious enough for the beds but tight with a table. But all was very clean.
Review 48:Parking was nowhere near, it was pedestrain zoned and vehicles not allowed.
Review 49:It was cenral and in a nice area.
Review 50:Dark room, dated bathroom, no toiletries
Review 51:Great location
Review 52:rooms we had were really small
Review 53:Great location, very helpful lady owner, excellent breakfast, pleasant atmosphere.
Review 54:Best possible location in the heart of Dinan, but with parking not too far away.Very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 55:Location, individuality of hotel décor and friendliness of owner
Review 56:The hotel was right in the centre
Review 57:Located in the middle of Dinan -Advice given by the kind lady owned the hotel (a personal travel guide at the reception!!!!). Clean room.
Review 58:Decoration a bit tired, need to be a bit more modern. Floor a bit noisy in the room.
Review 59:Quirky hotel and very good location. Traditional building.
Review 60:The bed was not so comfortable
Review 61:Location, owner very helpful
Review 62:The excellent welcome from the staff. Good location and well equipped room.
Review 63:Location is excellent and room is comfortable. The best owner I have come across
Review 64:The clock tower which starts chiming a 7am
Review 65:Clean, lovely quirky decor and very close to town. very friendly lady running the hotel
Review 66:No elevator
Review 67:Very well located in the center of the city. Sympathic hosts.
Review 68:Very nice and helpful owner! Be aware that you are in a middle-aged building in a middle-aged town. It's a cosy, lovely and charming hotel.
Review 69:The proprietor was very pleasant, helpful and spoke good English.
Review 70:Very small room Breakfast
Review 71:Pleasant helpful owner Location Quiet
Review 72:The bell tower. Restaurant below our window
Review 73:Location, owner
Review 74:3rd floor, no elevator, but staff helped with bags
Review 75:We found it to be ideally situated in the center of the old town, literally yards away from some excellent restaurants.Very quiet, so had a good nights sleep! Lovely breakfast the next morning.
Review 76:Hard to park, especially as Dinan is a popular tourist place. Head for the market square and read the signs about paying. Room 1 is near reception and not a great view but if you are not staying long its fine.
Review 77:Dinan is absolutely lovely, the hotel was great. Breakfast was good and the staff are lovely.
Review 78:Mattress too firm for my liking. Would have liked tea or. Offer facilities but as this was 2star didn't really expect it
Review 79:Hotel manager knew her town and was happy to provide information upfront and answer any questions we had. Breakfast was very good
Review 80:The hotel was an older style of accommodation however this is what you would expect in the old town of Dinan - would definitely recommend this hotel very central location
Review 81:Hotel de la Tour de l'horloge is a special place in the charming city of Dinan. The hotel is spotlessly clean and in its own courtyard which ensures quiet in the center of the historic quartier. Both the room and bath were ample and equipped with all modern amenities. Breakfast was far from impersonal with Madame serving juice, fruit, yogurt, cheese, delicious croissants and pots of fresh coffee and hot milk. Madame speaks several languages and made excellent recommendations for lunch and dinner. Dinan is a wonderful Medieval city which needs to be walked around to appreciate. The Tour de l'horloge is centrally located and enables you feel a part of Dinan without being crushed by the tourists staying in the larger tourist hotels. I sometimes visit a city just because I enjoy returning to a special hotel. La Tour de l'horloge will be one of those special hotels.
Review 82:Our first room was outside the main hotel down a corrider. This room was very basic and dated and wasn't what we were expecting and we requested to move the following day when space allowed. Would not recommend the outside rooms. The room inside the hotel was very nice and comfortable, although the windows are not soundproof and you can hear everything going on outside. Breakfast is basic and I cannot recommend it.
Review 83:The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a historical building right in the center of town. Parking is nearby and is cheap or free depending on where you park. Dinan is a great town to explore.
Review 84:Forniture is essential and quite old, shower and toilet facilities included. It's in an historical building, and this could be the explanation, nevertheless room rates are a bit too high for what the Hotel offers. Breakfast very essential and quite expensive (7,50€/pers).
Review 85:Perfectly located, the Hotel is in the very centre of town. It is clean and the staff helpful and ready to provide tips. Bed really comfortable.
Review 86:No wi-fi No hair dryer Only one kind of soap not labelled (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel?) enough for 2 shower. Breakfast (euro 7.50) very poor.
Review 87:Location is great
Review 88:The hotel was absolutely central to everything in Dinan. The landlady was very welcoming and a mine of information not only about the town but of the surrounding area and greater Brittany. We had a very comfortable two nights stay.
Review 89:The room was like a little cold cement box. It was decorated in cold colors. No view. A loud clock chimed every 15 mins. That was room 6. Maybe the other rooms are more airy and light.
Review 90:Catherine, who welcomed us, was so warm and friendly. She listened patiently and was interested in an account of the travels we had already had. She was a wonderful help in explaining the city and how to get around and where to eat.
Review 91:decor is not my style, but i am there to sleep and look for a business .
Review 92:owner is very helpfull and most friendly, location is fantastic.i would stay there again.
Review 93:hotel is in the centre of the old ville in a pedestrian street so right in the middle of everything, there is cheap parking in the public carpark just up the road. the rooms are quirky, ours had red velvet and very quiet.
Review 94:Nothing. Unless your preference is for the style of an Etap or Ibis, then choose this hotel.
Review 95:1. Very helpful and friendly proprietor. Nothing was too much trouble. 2. Excellent central position in a beautiful medieval town. 3. They have Typhoo tea!
Review 96:We were on the third floor, 60 steps up.
Review 97:Great hostess who very willingly offered suggestions on what to do or where to go, and provided some historical background.
Review 98:Finding parking off-site, but this is to be expected in the old part of town.
Review 99:Central location in the old part of town, very helpful and friendly staff. Good sized room with TV and modern bathroom.
Review 100:Have to park somewhere before proceeding to hotel. Parking costs have to be added. In fairness, this is mentioned on the booking form.
Review 101:Excellent position in centre of old Dinan. Art nouveau room. Comfortable and quiet with no clock bell before 7 a.m. Friendly and helpful lady manager who also makes a good breakfast.
Review 102:Unfortunately didn't realise the hotel was under the clock tower and the bells start at 7 O'clock am. Also would have been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Breakfast was not that good for the price
Review 103:Owner very friendly. Rooms clean and tidy. Booked this hotel because the style was very quirky and it did not disappoint
Review 104:Lovely hotel, room and proprietor. We loved our stay here, the room was very comfortable, with a proper bed for our son. The owner speaks excellent English and is a delight, she is most anxious that her guests have everything they need.
Review 105:We initially approached the hotel from the back (via l'Impasse del'Horloge) and this led through a rather unenticing Alleyway. Wewondered if we had made a mistake until we reached the vert pleasanthotel itself.
Review 106:The central location was good, and the breakfast particularly enjoyable.
Review 107:We had a comfortable room outside the main hotel in a semi-private alley in the heart of the medieval town. Our hostess was charming and very helpful. She gave us a map and explained the history of the town and pointed out the various sites of interest. Overall a very good experience and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.
Review 108:Carpet on stairs could with an upgrade
Review 109:The owner is extremely helpful in every aspect of our stay, speaks good English very dedicated to making all of her clients very happy.can't speak highly enough of attitude .
Review 110:This hotel could not have been in a better location for our stay. Step out the front door and this beautiful town engulfs you. Room was comfortable and clean and the beds excellent. The owner Katerine was most hospitable and concerned with our needs. Clearly she wanted our stay to be memorable and trouble free .... it certainly was! Thank You Katerine! Parking is very close...barely a 2 minute walk. Thursdays the huge nearby parking lot becomes the market place...as soon as we stepped out of the front door in the morning we could smell the wonderful aromas of cooked dishes from the market....a feast for the eyes and senses...an event not to be missed. Breakfast in this hotel was one of the best breakfasts of our 3 week trip. On our next visit we will be back to stay at the Hotel De La Tour De L'horloge for longer.
Review 111:No elevator.
Review 112:Location terrific-right in the middle of the old town. And Katherine who runs the hotel went out of her way to make us comfortable and welcome.
Review 113:Room was a bit cold (unseasonable June temperatures, but couldn't get the room heater to work)
Review 114:Very friendly and knowledgeable management Fantastic location Public parking surprisingly cheap and plentiful The town
Review 115:No lift. As I had a room on top(3rd) floor ,taking case to & from room strenuous. Some people might find the rooms old fashioned despite update.
Review 116:Good room , comfy bed, good en-suite. good value continental breakfast. Manager/proprietor really helpful & efficient. Wifi good throughout hotel.
Review 117:Facilities - painting over graffiti in the alley way would go a long way to making the facility more welcoming (with small children, the alley was a bit scary); hotel was advertised as having free wireless in all rooms, but the 4 person room we were in on the ground floor does not have a wireless signal so that should be noted Clean - generally OK, but I noticed small ants near one of the baseboards - yuk! Also some areas (i.e. bathroom) could use touch-ups with paint and tiles. Comfort - in a four person room an extra mirror outside of the bathroom would be very helpful (even just a tiny one); a hair dryer would be most helpful
Review 118:Staff - the host at the reception desk and in breakfast room was very nice and helpful Location - in terms of access to old-town Dinan, it couldn't have a better location for walking to everything
Review 119:The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English and made everything very easy for us. The design of the hotel was very unique with rooms full of character.
Review 120:The wi fi does not extend to the annexe,so you have to go in to the main hotel to get access. However not a problem if,like me,you want to switch off from everything when on holiday!
Review 121:It is right in the centre of the lovely town of Dinan,so perfectly located. The lady who owns it is extremely helpful and charming. We had the family room in a separate annexe, which was ideal with our 2 children- it had a fridge ,a mini hob, crockery etc.The room was spotlessly clean. Not great luxury, and a bit old fashioned ,but comfortable and convenient, and good value for money.
Review 122:The back entrance to the hotel, which we found first, is through a grafitti-ed alleyway which gave us a totally false impression. The front entranceis on a beautiful cobbled street and is definitely the one to use!
Review 123:If you want sterile chain hotel blandness, this is not the place tostay. It is proudly quirky, and that extends to the decor and thefurnishings. However, it is exceptionally friendly, perfectly placed toenjoy old Dinan, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We thought thebreakfast was good value as Dinan can be quite expensive.
The Fine Print
