Reviews for Falcon Hotel

Review 1:We stayed for 3 days and on arrival were shown to our superior room with a shower head that had a maximum height of less than 5 feet tall - so unusable as far as we were concerned. Asked to be moved to a room on the floor below where the ceiling shape wouldn't compromise the shower height. We were shown the turqoise room with ornate cream furniture. The bathroom was small (like the first room) but the shower height was fine so we moved. Unpacking we realised the ornate furniture was not practical as the draws were too small and all we could fit in were small items such as cosmetics, socks and pants. All other clothes, T-shirts, trousers, tops, and jumpers for 2 people for 3 days had to be hung in the wardrobe - which had only 6 scratty mismatched hangers in it. Asked at reception for more explaining there was no drawer space for any clothes and only 4 more were provided - still wasn't enough but she didn't have more so we left it at that. Went for a shower and the shower head fell off on to me and wouldn't stay in the fitting in the right position so unusable. We had to have baths which was difficult as the only way to reach the taps to fill the bath was to climb into the bath when it was empty and fill while you stood in it (beware of getting feet burned). This was due to shower screening which was in a fixed position between the tap end of the bath and the toilet and came nearly to the end of the bath. The hook on the back of the bathroom door was missing - only the drill holes were visible so nowhere to hang robe or clothes. To summarise The room and bathroom was really too small and the furniture was not practical. Hotel owners should try the accommodation themselves and they would quickly see it is not comfortable for 2 guests and certainly not for a 3 day stay.

Review 2:The staff were friendly and the room was clean.

Review 3:The bed was quite hard, but I ALWAYS find hotel beds too hard. I asked for lots of extra pillows, which I line up and sleep on top of-and they were readily supplied.

Review 4:Very friendly, helpful staff. Descent sized room. Lovely restaurant, and EXCELLENT breakfast.

Review 5:Unsmiling breakfast waitress disappeared for 20 mins. No offer of more coffee or more toast. 2nd morning breakfast mushrooms were clearly left over from day before.

Review 6:Seemed to be a little short-staffed - front of house running the bar and had to wait for someone to arrive to check out.

Review 7:Nice breakfast and comfortable bed.

Review 8:THE TEMPERATURE IN THE ROOM WAS STIFLINGLY HOT. THERE WAS NO THERMOSTAT TO ADJUST AND THE RECEPTION STAFF ADVISED THAT MAINTENANCE HAD LEFT FOR THE NIGHT. I WAS ADVISED TO OPEN THE WINDOW TO ALLOW COLD AIR INTO THE ROOM TO BALANCE THE HEAT.....

Review 9:CHEAP AND CLEAN

Review 10:The room was dated and unclean. The sheets & blankets were stained and dirty. The bathroom floor had hairs collected in the corner behind the door.

Review 11:SHOWER DID NOT WORK KETTLE BROKEN HAIRS IN THE BED THE HOTEL WAS NOT BUSY YET WE WERE ALLOCATED TO THE OLDER PART OF THE BUILDING WHICH HAD YET TO BE REFURBISHED

Review 12:LOCATION AND THE BREAKFAST STAFF WERE NICE AND VERY POLITE

Review 13:However very noisy, I could hear the people beneath me chatting away until early hours which made it hard to get to sleep. Would of been nice if there was a restaurant at the hotel or a lounge bar so that I could eat at the hotel, being a solo traveller it wasn't very nice to have to go out for an evening meal.

Review 14:The rooms were lovely! Cosy, clean and nicely decorated. Staff were very pleasant.

Review 15:The breakfast didn't come with beans (a small detail, but it meant it was dry) and the waitress was not around to ask for any sauces. Our room had countless decaf coffee and sugar, but no 'real' coffee - this should be checked when redressing the room.

Review 16:The hotel itself was really lovely and we did enjoy our stay.

Review 17:Staff didnt know what they were doing opening my room early hours of the morning disturbing my sleep, not providing me beeakfast because they apparently ran out even though i paid for it!

Review 18:Location

Review 19:no evening dining. No choice of breakfast, ie it was either continental or cooked.

Review 20:bed was very comfy like sleeping in a marshmallow. Liked the decor

Review 21:Lovely Hotel, Friendly and helpful staff. Very clean. Central for where I needed to be. Good value for money. Excellent breakfast. Would defiantly stay again

Review 22:Easy to find, clean and classy, with a friendly personal service. Beautiful rooms. Loved the décor, feels like a quality hotel. Thankfully Not like some of those modern boxes advertised as hotel rooms.

Review 23:The single bed I had was very well worn and badly compressed on one side, or it was a less old very poor quality bed, either way the upshot was an uncomfortable night's sleep trying to prevent myself rolling out of bed!

Review 24:Freshly and tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, breakfast was superb.

Review 25:We loved this hotel for its comfort cleanliness and the staff are wonderful. We will definitely use again and recommend to others. Breakfast was superb too.

Review 26:Staff very friendly, room comfortable and clean, breakfast the best I've had all year! (and I've had many guest house breakfasts this year...). I can't fault this place for price/value. Many thanks!

Review 27:Wifi in the room is very poor when the hotel is busy. The hotel are looking into the problem but I was an issue during my stay. The reception are has great Wifi.

Review 28:Great location with very helpful and happy staff

Review 29:One carpet stain in the sun room off reception. (under armchair) It may have been a new undiscovered accident.

Review 30:Breakfast room. Fresh, looķng newly decorated. Lovely paper and paint colour co-ordinated with crisp white linen tablecloths. Hot breakfast very good. Hot shower. Parking. WIFI.

Review 31:Our room was very dated ! Some of the rooms have been done and parts of the hotel were nice ! Lack of restaurant was a shame !

Review 32:For price paid it was very good value the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was tasty and served well !

Review 33:Not a bad experience but just to mention there were a lot of stairs to my room with two heavy cases. There may have been a lift but I didn't find it!

Review 34:Very comfy bed, nice breakfast, free wifi.

Review 35:Bathroom design very poor, unless you are related to an orangutang youhave no way of turning the bath taps on without climbing in the bath

Review 36:Clean and okay not sure we got a superior room booking.com as stated

Review 37:can be a little noisy from traffic, if you have the window open.

Review 38:Having stayed once before, The Falcon was our first choice for a stay, Clean, light and bright bedrooms with everything you need in the Bathroom, Tea Coffee and Hot Chocolate in the room for our refreshment, Dining Room and lounge welcoming, clean bright and fresh decor Staff helpful, and happy to help.

Review 39:Bed wee bit hard for me personally, room 8 might be above the kitchen

Review 40:Breakfast was lovely, room gorgeous and spotless. Staff all extremely courteous and hard working

Review 41:Bathroom a bit on the small side, bath long, had to climb into it to turn taps on as shower screen in the way. Not that easy to get out of either.

Review 42:Nice clean comfortable room, breakfast nice, would have preferred pot of coffee so could have had more than 1 drink. The bed was so comfortable.

Review 43:Very clean hotel, spacious rooms, modern bathroom, plenty of tea and coffee facilities, the staff where very friendly and helpful, great breakfast. i would definitely stay again

Review 44:Not a bad experience as such but the breakfast was just okay, nothing special.

Review 45:Staff were lovely and helped when needed. We had a standard room and a superior room but this was small than the standard. This was not what we expected as the better more expensive room was for my sisters wedding night. We managed but just unexpected and maybe i should have asked questions before booking.

Review 46:From start to finish the staff were polite and helpful. The location was perfect for our needs. Although located by the airport planes did not interfere with our stay.

Review 47:receptionist, basically needs to go on a customer course, was ignored whilst moving drinks glasses, stood waiting to be checked in, was then told can only do one thing at a time, duh, customer trying to book in. had no time for her at all, bathroom very cramped good job not a larger person..

Review 48:breakfast first class

Review 49:Rooms and bathrooms rather on the small side. No food available in hotel other than breakfast. Would have preferred a buffet breakfast.

Review 50:Cheery and helpful receptionist. Rooms (superior) tastefully decorated, comfortable beds, good quality bed linen, large bath towels, tasty, well cooked breakfast, comfortable bar/ lounge area, lovely, calm restaurant, free wifi, free on site parking, views of airport and air museum from hotel. Overall a good experience and made a sad family visit more bearable.

Review 51:In one of the rooms due for redecoration. didn't like having to supply email address telephone no etc for wi fi

Review 52:staff great. lounge area very comfy. lovely orchards. good breakfast shame no decaf coffee

Review 53:Couldn't connect to the WiFi in my room. Room decor felt a little dated.

Review 54:Friendly helpful staff, nice lounge/bar area, good cooked breakfast, great value for money.

Review 55:Having to pay for WiFi - so we didn't use it. However I understand they are in the process of negotiating a contract for free WiFi.

Review 56:The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 57:Paid WiFi (c.£10 for one day is very expensive).

Review 58:Other than the WiFi, exceptional value for money! Lovely little hotel overall and exceptionally close to the airport if you are flying.

Review 59:Bathroom was cramped. The large glass shower screen between the bath and loo made access into the narrow bath/shower difficult

Review 60:Superior Double Rooms are clean and airy. A choice of excellent breakfasts, Continental or Full English, are included. The location is good and the staff are very friendly and helpful with many parking spaces, with the bonus of an nice Restaurant near by.

Review 61:Breakfast was a bit poor , not a lot of choice and a very unfriendly waitress

Review 62:The hotel receptionist / bar tender was lovely very welcoming and helpful . We stayed at the hotel the night before a wedding and it was absolutely spotless and well looked after . Nice modern furniture and all immaculate , all in all a very nice hotel .

Review 63:They are called the Falcon bar and restaurant yet they don't have a restaurant - only breakfast. The cost of the wifi is expensive. On the basis of that I probably wouldn't chose to stay here again.

Review 64:The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was good.

Review 65:I do object to having to pay Wi Fi costs though i did not need wifi on this trip Hotel Restaraunt does not open evenings which is something of a problem as the Swan pub is under refurb and this leaves only 2no Curry Houses to choose from in walking distance

Review 66:Have used ths hotel previously and it's location is perfect for my business needs Free Parking always a Bonus Breakfast always good and always cheerfully served

Review 67:Not their fault - but the room was very warm overnight even with the windows wide open and it wasn't the hottest day that we'd had that week. Wish they did evening meals.

Review 68:Location for where we wanted to be. Great breakfast. Price of a glass of wine is extremely good for a hotel.

Review 69:Nothing negative, but couldn't understand why no beans on breakfast menu!

Review 70:Friendly staff, Cleanliness, decent breakfast. Single room size quite good, room facilities v good.

Review 71:Room decor a little over the top for such a small room. Would have likes toast served on separate plate or maybe side plates could be laid on table (akward to spread butter and jam without plate)

Review 72:Breakfast room was lovely so was the food and service.

Review 73:Traffic noise despite being round corner from main road

Review 74:Our early arrival was no problem. Staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast fine - well served. Room facilities excellent

Review 75:Drinks at the bar were expensive, but then we do live in Derbyshire rather than the South of England.

Review 76:Stayed her for Ascot, a taxi to the train station and a short train journey took us straight there.

Review 77:Bathtub extremely slippery when wet (shower was over bathtub) and toilet dripped for about an hour after flushing - kept me awake first night. No food served other than breakfast. Would have been good to have free wi-fi.

Review 78:Excellent, friendly staff. Beautiful room. Good breakfast - served in good time. Clean, comfortable. Great bar. Nice TV in room.

Review 79:if there is one its the price of the wifi way to much

Review 80:The staff all gave you a warm welcome .It was sunny when i stayed and having a beer on the terrace was great so relaxing .. Breakfast is plentiful and presented well

Review 81:It was pretty shabby and needs more attention. There was no lightbulb in one bedside lamp. It really needed redecorating and wasn't worth the amount they charged.

Review 82:Paid wi fi! Most places offer it free these days - we didn't use it.

Review 83:After an initial problem with a kettle it was sorted out immediately and with no problems

Review 84:I was walking from Winchester to Canterbury and really appreciated the comfort of the rooms - especially the bath and plentiful hot water! The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 85:we came for a christening and we didnt know the area it would have been nice to have some information on hand to advise where we could have a meal.

Review 86:room very clean and every one made you welcome

Review 87:There was no choice in how the breakfast eggs were prepared, they were scrambled only, except that they were not like any scrambled eggs that I have seen. There was only white toast on offer, no choice of brown. We had a deal of almost 50% off on a special rate. If we'd paid the full price we would have been very disappointed.

Review 88:The hotel was clean. It was in the right location for our purposes.

Review 89:Single room poor quality small and noisy smelly not clean sink notworking other rooms are poor tasteless decor hotel in poor area and alsooverpriced

Review 90:Great lady on night duty who helped me after a poor start

Review 91:We were very disappointed in breakfast. The waitress was rushed off her feet and my breakfast was cold. No one came back to ask if we were happy with everything.

Review 92:No dinners and vegetarian option for breakfast was basically minus sausage & bacon. A veggie sausage offered would have been nice!

Review 93:Room was cosy, bed was very comfortable, quite a bargain for £45. Thought there would be somewhere in the hotel itself to get dinner but made do with a local take away. If you pay £45 anywhere you can't expect Ritz standard, wall paper was slightly tired but seeing was only there for a night it didn't matter in the slightest. I'd stay again.

Review 94:Single bed was small, bed linen and decor dated, wifi was paid only

Review 95:Friendly and understanding staff, late check-in, good value for the money, not too far from the train station

Review 96:Really shocked they didn't have free WiFi - especially as they seem to be geared towards business travelers

Review 97:The breakfast was great and the room was perfect. Staff were incredibly helpful and polite

Review 98:Dissapointed that there were no restaurant facilities after travelling from south wales & not much else in the area unless you want indian next door reception sent us up the road to a hungry horse but they had sold out of food!!!!so we were hungry going to bed

Review 99:Clean & comfortable & nice breakfast

Review 100:Wanted 11 pounds or so, for access to wi fi, even for ONE night! - ridiculous !. There was no blind in the bathroom ( no privacy from house next door). Drinking water from the bathroom tap was either hot or warm. Worst of all, the people in the room near me, contantly clashed their room door during my stay. I did't care for the 'half size bath'.

Review 101:good parking, and very central. Attractive dining area. Good supply of tea and coffee in room.

Review 102:The high cost of WiFi. Most places I visit its free (at least in the foyer). Fixed glass screen on bath making it impossible to turn on taps without getting into the bath. Space between toilet & bath screen was very limited.

Review 103:Breakfast was excellent

Review 104:there was a sweet overpowering smell coming from the canopy of the bed. It was as if someone had gone crazy with fabric spray. We had to sleep with the window open, although cold. the smell didn't decrease and woke us continually through the night. The second room for our adult son was very small.

Review 105:good breakfast although some low background music may have given the restaurant a little atmosphere.

Review 106:Poor breakfast. The waiter didn't speak english very well and desapeared that we couldn't ask for another cup of coffee. The old fashion hotel needs improving.

Review 107:Bit noisy, would benefit from double glazing. Shower a bit awkward for tall people. Central brighter light. Room 30.

Review 108:Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast for two veggies, plenty of parking. The room and all of the hotel was exceptionally clean with nice decor.

Review 109:Room was dingy, single glazed windows and facing the main road next to an airport. Not the best room in the house :-( No restaurant in the hotel but there were two curry houses within spitting distance, anything else was a 15 minute walk

Review 110:Breakfast was good, parking was plenty

Review 111:The rooms are showing their age a little but all the essentials are there. The single glazing means you can hear the traffic outside.

Review 112:It is located very conveniently for Farnborough airport. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Review 113:Some noise from the main road I was cold in the night Bed was too hard for my liking

Review 114:Very friendly and helpful staff Easy to find (Postcode took SATNAV to the door) Extra tap in the bathroom for filling kettle - obvious but never seen before! Parking right outside the hotel

Review 115:Curtains Scrambled egg

Review 116:We stayed here to go to the Darts at Lakeside and what a pleasant surprise. The hotel was bright, tasteful and the beds were so comfortable. All the staff we met were helpful and fun. Our only negatives were the scrambled eggs need work and a blind at the bedroom windows would be good as the curtains only just meet.... But frankly that's hardly worth mentioning when we had such a great stay. See you next year!

Review 117:Room smallest double bed I have ever seen windows was shaking in the wind all night cracked floors tiles shower we could not use at all you could not put hot and cold on at the same time it was too hot or cold breakfast well waitress never asked once if everything was ok had to ask for sauce to with breakfast had to ask for coffee not good especially when there was other people in the restaurant had to wait so disappointed save all year for this 5 day break

Review 118:Not much

Review 119:Lovely four poster bed, unfortunately let down by the mattress. My husband and I rolled together all night when all we really wanted was a good nights sleep.

Review 120:Staff were excellent, Breakfast very good, facilities good. free wifi a bonus. Great value. We will definitely be back again next year.

Review 121:The room got very cold and in the middle of the night I couldn't get the radiator to work and the provided sheets/blankets were not quite up to it. Breakfast options were a bit limited which was a shame.

Review 122:Liked the refurbished room, and comfy bed. Fab location for the Aerospace Centre and local food options. Very Quick Check out

Review 123:I dislike having to pay for WiFi

Review 124:Staff is always nice (I have stayed here 12 times) and the breakfast is great. Museum across road, a pub and two Indian restaurants gives a good selection of meals within walking.

Review 125:The hotel has gone through a recent refurbishment which has been very tastefully done. The staff were very pleasant and the accommodation was excellent. Overall excellent value for money and will certainly be staying there again.

Review 126:very unfriendly older lady when checking out both time Paying for wifi which cuts off every 30min must needed wifi as hotel location has bad reception

Review 127:easy check in Two very friendly young lady when I checked in both times

Review 128:Considering it was December, the room was rather cold ( no heating on) and the bed covering blankets etc were rather sparse.

Review 129:Excellent breakfast and friendly staff, and the bed linen was crisp and fresh.

Review 130:On arrival room very hot, couldn't turn down rad,too tired to ask for help, but cooled down when I got back at 02.30!

Review 131:Smart,clean& very comfortable.Very good price.

Review 132:Hot water on sink not working (bath OK-Room No7) Butter only on central table noyt individual tables (yes that's trivial).

Review 133:Quiet on my night there TV reasonable channel selection Heating fine Bath fine

Review 134:The noisy neighbour who was making a dreadful racket ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT!! The property immediately opposite Room 29 (shop/premises/house under renovation?) on Aircraft Esplanade, where 2 hooded men were hand and electric sawing, routing and nailing together some internal doors. This lasted from 11pm to 5 am!! I have the pics and video clip evidence if you would like to see it for any future police complaint? I won't bother returning to the Falcon ... unless you make it worth my while AND you can guarantee me a quiet night's sleep next time? I shall need hotels in Farnborough for the next 8 -10 weeks!

Review 135:Breakfast was tasty and your staff were helpful ...

Review 136:Bed was rock solid. Pillows were a choice of lumpy or flat. Shower was awful... Scalding hot only. Outdated decor in the bedroom.

Review 137:Staff were friendly and helpful. Cooked breakfast was really nice and hot and served in lovely room. Good parking Clean facilities
