Reviews for Tekels Park Guest House
Review 1:Mold in the room. Out dated bathroom (no bathroom in the room) thin blankets. Breakfast was an experience. The first day my warm breakfast was free. The next day it cost £4. This even though I paid for breakfast when booking. For two nights I paid £110 which was far above what you would normally pay for an accommodation like this. Suggested price £30 a night.
Review 2:The hotel manager was a nice chap. Also the housecleaning tidied up my room nicely.
Review 3:Hard to initially find, no on property bar, though having said that they don't stop you buying out and bringing back, having a bar would just be easier.
Review 4:Friendly staff, clean, tidy, brilliant location.
Review 5:Although location was ideal for my purpose, the directions to it were complicated, to the point of misleading. Fortunately, ihave lived in the area so was able to overcome these difficulties
Review 6:Location and welcome
Review 7:We were shocked at the general standard of the guest rooms and tend to expect more for our money. It felt very basic and there are no ensuite toilet facilities. Overall the guest house has the feel of a youth hostel and we felt the price should more closely reflect this.
Review 8:The location is stunning, the guest house is set in a park which has great scenery and walks. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast there, plenty of food choices to choose from including, fruit, pastries and cereal. The linen and towels provided was clean as was the room.
Review 9:The photo makes it look lovely but the photo is actually of a building next door. The hotel itself is shabby. In the 1970's it was probably great - but it looks like it's not been touched since. I didn't notice when I booked that there are no on-suite facilities save for s sink which smelled of pee. There was a shared bathroom at the end of the corridor - but it was dirty & shabby. In the morning I it was in use and we didn't get a look in. Get up early if you need the loo / shower / shave.
Review 10:Location
Review 11:I wasn't impressed with being constantly contacted for what time I would arrive when I did text you to let you know.
Review 12:Good breakfast and a friendly welcome from the lady who served breakfast.
Review 13:From a personal point of view the single bed and shared bathroom isn't great but then again for the money we paid that's fair enough
Review 14:The staff were very friendly and would do anything for you, was a decent place really and ok for the money we paid
Review 15:The bed was very hard and the headboard being metal did not help my comfort when I had to sit up a little in bed to watch the TV. No other bad points at all.
Review 16:The location was right for me. The room was small but had everything I needed. The staff were great and very accommodating. They explained as it was vegetarian and only cold food they were willing to do me eggs in the morning, they looked after me well.
Review 17:Fee taken before we'd arrived and again on arrival therefore refund was organised - thought nothing was payable until arrival. Had to fill in registration forms although details had already been submitted on-line. Shared facilities. We felt we were staying in a men's hostel.
Review 18:Quiet location.
Review 19:That you have to share bathroom and breakfast starts at 7 even thought a number of contractors use the guest house like myself leave early for work.
Review 20:I like that it felt like home after a long day at work. The guests staying and the staff are very friendly
Review 21:Left a day early due to the constant door banging, the dripping tap and the unwatchable TV. The shared bathroom and no-pressure shower was the least of my trouble.
Review 22:The staff were fantastic, very apologetic and refunded my final night. Definitely not for business travel, but for a break where you can sleep in and enjoy the grounds it'd be great I'm sure.
Review 23:Nothing

Review 27:Very friendly helpful staff in lovely setting, the guest house itself is a little out of date and could do with a freshen up but having said that I wouldn't it, it all adds to it's strange charm
Review 28:If I had to be petty, the position of the tv, too high, but not a major issue.
Review 29:Very welcoming. Clean and tidy. Very basic but everything you need. I would recomend. Plus the grounds are beautiful, went for a walk which I needed after sitting in a classroom all day.
Review 30:Advertised as including breakfast, but in actual fact this was toast or cereal, had to pay extra for a cooked breakfast. Would not book again. Room was very basic, clean but old fashioned & small. Not very good value for money.

Review 81:I arrived at 19:30 (not an outrageous time) and found the reception un-manned. I waited for 15 minutes then had to track-down a mobile number to phone for assistance. Breakfast offerings such as mold-covered grapes and un-refrigerated butter that was within 1 day of its use-by date.
Review 82:The setting of the guesthouse in Tekels Park. Quiet and calm surroundings.
Review 83:Breakfast was poor, advertised continental with boiled eggs, but eggs were not cooked.
Review 84:The area was beautiful, and the staff were very helpful. Room was clean and tidy.
Review 85:Accommodation is a little basic. Room decor and contents are minimalist- rather reminiscent of staying in hospital. Accommodation was ratherhard to find and is 1 mile to nearest restaurant/pub.

Review 89:The place was a bit difficoult to find.
Review 90:I loved approach and helpfullness of workers in the hotel. Staying in this place is real booster for energy. Other thing I liked is serenity and silence of this place. It is situated in way so one can feel really relaxed. This is not prestigious place but offers range of activities and classes such as yoga lessons.
