Reviews for Hotel La Québécoise

Review 1:no ventilation whatsoever in bathroom/wc; noise from adjacent highway; finding property was difficult because listed phone number & directions were incorrect; staff & owner-manager were inhospitable/not very friendly; in spite of booking.com amending our reservation from 2 to 1 night with promise of no penalty - the owner/manager charged us 50% - owner/manager complained about booking.com fees; the location is fine as a stop-over place just to put your head down, not for anything else.

Review 2:nice size family room

Review 3:I would have preferred a location where I didn't need to use the car to visit restaurants. However, it was a very reasonable price and only a couple of kilometres to town centre.

Review 4:Although situated right by the route nationale I was not disturbed by traffic noise so it's obviously well insulated. Very large room and en-suite, both well maintained. Very friendly and helpful owners who also gave advice about what to see when I moved on to Quimper. Excellent breakfast.

Review 5:We aren't overly fussy so I would have to say nothing at all, it's lovely.

Review 6:Fantastic family run business, in a restored and converted 17th century farm house. If you like all of the mod cons maybe look elsewhere, if you want to stay somewhere that makes you feel as welcome as we did it's great.

Review 7:No restaurant, but an indifferent hotel nearby for dinner; a very plain breakfast. About 2km from Dinant, in the middle of nowhere. Expensive for what it was.

Review 8:Very convenient for getting to the St Malo Ferry

Review 9:The staff were very friendly and helpful, our room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was €7 per adult and only €3.50 for our children, great value and lovely.

Review 10:The room was a bit small but adequate for a base.

Review 11:The lady owner was very friendly & helpful when I requested advice about parking and eating in Dinan. She also supplied a kettle when we requested it for tea making. The hotel is close to a main route from Cherbourg to Brittany and only a short drive into central Dinan.

Review 12:We would have liked extra pillows but as we arrived late we couldn't complain

Review 13:We arrived very late at night but they left a note in reception informing of us about our room. Very helpful

Review 14:There was a bar list but there isnt really a bar. Maybe take down the price list if the bar isnt going to open.

Review 15:WiFi is free and very good, very good price, good location, clean and decent shower.

Review 16:Good rural staging post en route to Western and Southern Brittany or the Channel Ports. Easy access from N176 and the picturesque town of Dinan. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast (7 Euros extra).

Review 17:Very welcoming and friendly. Covered, secure storage offered for the motorbike. Pleasant courtyard with benches. Could have used as a good touring base for the local area.

Review 18:Some random guest came into my room at about 6:30, don't know why by I had left my door unlocked. My fault - what I didn't like was the brummie accent as he apologised which was completely beyond the control of the owners

Review 19:Renovated barn, studio layout, very comfortable bed, quiet..................... I was supposed to be travelling by bike to a solicitor down the road to sign for a house I have bought in Brittany. The bike was recovered to the UK. I booked this in desperation as a substitute, and amongst all my other trials and tribulations, this place stood out like a star.

Review 20:Too far to cycle back to centre of Dinar after a long days cycling but ok if you arrive by car

Review 21:It's a fine place with a helpful host. A good place to stay if you have a car. I'd just cycled to Dinan from Le Mont St Michael and by the time I found the place got showered etc . Too far from centre

Review 22:It is tricky to find if you use a satnav. I recommend following the instructions given on the website.

Review 23:It is convenient for Dinan and close to the main road. The location is relaxed and there is ample parking.

Review 24:There was nothing at all that we didn't like.

Review 25:Although hotel was located out of Dinan it was only a short drive and easy to find. We especially liked the relaxed atmosphere, the comfort and value for money.

Review 26:The localization is perfect if you're by car (although one can also go with bus to the old tonw), but you have to study the way very well, because not all GPSs recognize the adress. It's not difficult to get there, but one may be attentive.

Review 27:The hotel is in an old farm and it's very nice and quiet. By car we are just two minutes from Dinans old town and in such a comfortable and peaceful place. The room is very simple, but big enough and clean - just as the bathroom. The breakfast is really ok for its price, and for kids entertainment there are some possibilities like table soccer and baketball.

Review 28:Not having a proper shower Wi Fi very poor

Review 29:Ground floor room with door to outside terrace, good sized comfortable room. Close to Dinan but felt out in the country

Review 30:No restaurants within easy walking distance. Road a little noisy.

Review 31:We had a family room, had a mezzanine floor for the children's beds which was nice. Nice English speaking staff and great croissants in the morning.

Review 32:The friendly helpful staff couldn't do enough to help. It's location near to Dinan and the Motorway is perfect. I found it a friendly, well run hotel; very comfortable.

Review 33:Noisy road. Directions to find it were not very accurate and once we were lost it was very difficult to find.

Review 34:Excellent family room. Children loved the mezanine. Space to lock the bikes up overnight. Loved the breakfast. Friendly hostess who was good with the children.

Review 35:Rooms were basic, which was fine although the room looked like it hadn't been dusted recently. Didn't bother us particularly.

Review 36:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value for money, as you can have enough to mean you don't need to eat much at lunchtime. Location was ideal for popping into Dinan and it was also so close to the motorway.

Review 37:Beautiful place and warmful family

Review 38:staff miserable and spoke little to us

Review 39:The Hotel made a good base, breakfast good

Review 40:Uncomfortable beds.

Review 41:Charming place. Rooms that open direct onto the courtyard. Plenty of parking.

Review 42:Bed mattresses were too firm.

Review 43:Short walk to a beach.

Review 44:Breakfast limited, room smelt stale, and dusty

Review 45:The proprieters spoke English and were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful.

Review 46:close to main road but wasn't as noisy as expected

Review 47:lovely friendly atmosphere and very comfortable pleasant rooms

Review 48:Very comfortable, staff very helpful

Review 49:Very well located,- close to the Old City , but not in it. Very helpful and pleasant hosts

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:very clean, stylish, good location, dog friendly

Review 78:Comfortable hotel with easy access to Dinan and the coast.

Review 79:VERY GOOD VALUE FOR THE MONEY

Review 80:Quite and nice place. great people. Excellent price.

Review 85:FELT VERY SAFE AND VERY WELCOME.

Review 86:Wifi was spotty but happy to have it.

Review 87:The dog!

Review 88:Good value hotel which suited our requirements. We had a family room on 2 levels which the kids thought was great !

Review 89:Bathroom

Review 90:Pretty old buildings transferred into a hotel/motel. Room ok equipped with modern Ikea décor.

Review 91:Very friendly, helpful staff. Ideal for "en route".

Review 92:Blind at window didn't close

Review 93:Large spacious room Comfy beds

Review 94:everything else was fine.

Review 95:to have tea & coffee making facilites in the room.

Review 96:Easy to get to and close to Dinan

Review 97:all was excellent.

Review 98:It was a good 4km outside town. You have no area to have a drink in the evening. We requested a drink the man of the house gave us a drink and then said goodnight this was only 10pm,

Review 99:it was family orientated good value for money. Clean comfortable rooms, good breakfast But its a pity they don't learn to boil a kettle for tea.

Review 100:We got lost at the beginning because the address said something like Taden and, following the postcode provided, we ended up in that village. It turned out that the hotel was not there at all. Luckily a Taden inhabitant helped us find the hotel. That said, it was a good hotel which we shall most probably use again. It was good value for money.

Review 101:The hotel room was spacious and clean. It had a simple, but pleasant bathroom and we appreciated being able to watch French television in the room. There was a busy road not far away which we thought might keep us awake, but in fact it did not bother us at all. We stopped here before going on to Roscoff and the hotel was extremely conveniently located from that point of view. It was right next to the Roscoff route.

Review 102:We like it all - no negatives

Review 103:The atmosphere, traditionally French, location good for Dinan and motorway. The owner was very friendly and welcoming and accommodating to our needs for an early start.

Review 104:The husband did not make me feel welcome at all. Very professional, but you feel he is not very friendly... Reminded me a lot of the story of beauty and the beast (laughs)

Review 105:The room, the breakfast, the locatin for those who have a car and want a perfect base, the proximity to St. Malo, Mont St. Michel, Cancale... The charming beauty of Dinan, and last, but not least, the lady from Quebec who owns the place and really makes you feel at home, even when the hotel is full and they are so busy, working a lot for the good management of the place.

Review 106:No tea/coffee making in room plus restaurant/bar closed. Not even snacks available. I had read that the resaurant was closed at w/e but had expected bar facility

Review 107:Staff were approachable

Review 108:Very bad reception from a very grumpy manager who can't be bothered by the guests. Amenities were not renewed. Cobwebs in both bedroom and bathroom. Not enough light in bathroom. We will never go back to this hotel.

Review 109:Room size.

Review 110:No opening window for fresh air a night. We had a little difficulty finding it

Review 111:The hostess was very friendly and welcoming. Room was spacious and clean with a good en-suite shower. Location close to a highway but not noisy since double glazed. Breakfast was adequate.

Review 112:The room was somewhat dated, but priced at the same type of rate as a mobern Ibis or Campanile.

Review 113:On-site car parking (this was one of the reasons we chose this hotel) as the old established hotels in Dinan have little parking of their own. Convenient for an overnight stop at Dinan, and a short drive into town.

Review 114:The 'hotel' is a little confused. They want to be like a hotel and charge for extras like tea/coffee, breakfast and only consume alchohol bought on the premises. But on the other hand run the place like a B&B. For example. Rooms basic like a travel lodge. More attention needs to be paid to room cleanliness. Basics were done, sheets and bathroom clean. (Cobwebs and dust remained all week along on pictures /skirting/dado/etc). No drink facilities in rooms as a norm, but the lady owner offered us one, for our comfort. Hairdryer is kept at reception and borrowed. Sheets were thrown down the stairs, we had to climb over them. Reception/bar not manned, as they were a 2 man band and away from the desk doing the rooms etc. But owners live on site and always around somewhere to contact. Their children sit in reception playing on computer. It would have been a really nice touch not to have charged us for the 2 cups of tea on arrival, as it was the only place in France that did this. We arrived very weary travellers after a long journey...it just would have been a nice start to the stay with them and gained more in good will than the cost of the tea bag. It feels a little undefined, and slightly unprofessional. It feels like the owners have lost their enthusiasm for it and it has become a chore rather than a vocation that they enjoy.

Review 115:Easy access to main routes to the Bretagne coast and North to Normandy. Comfortable Bed. Nice courtyard area, . Quiet at night and dark as all outside lights turned off at by 11pm. The lady owner is very helpful and knowledgable about the area. Good selection of tourist info in the reception. Great, quiet beaches nearby and lovely walks. Easy access to Dinan walking (crosses busy road for 200mtrs) Lovely port area and river. Great old town and really friendly feel about the place. Great place to explore from

Review 116:The proximity to a highway, due to the noise of the traffic.

Review 117:The people that work there (owners), very friendly. The hotel, an old building, but very well conserved.

Review 118:no kettle in room but maybe that's just a British thing.. Needed a cuppa!

Review 119:Perfect for our overnight stay on the way to St Malo, we had a safe place to park the car which was full of camping gear and bikes on roof. Would definately recommend and stay there again..

Review 120:It would be a longish uninteresting walk, crossing busy roads, to get to Dinan for evening meal. (they will taxi you there for 8 euros) We never 'got' the story of the Quebec connection.

Review 121:Relaxed place to stay outside town near major roads. Stone built farm and courtyard lovely if weather fine, a wet night might be a different story. Good base for touring and you can buy a drink at reception.
