Reviews for Golden Lion Hotel

Review 1:Heating in room wasn't working at time, NO problem to me, substitute heater plugged in, although it did leave the air a little dry on the throat ! Suggest resolve heating problem, as chill bathroom caused lots of steam when showering, unable to see due to condensation on mirror.

Review 2:Staff very friendly and helpful, for example when immediately resolving the lack of hot water ( had been left isolated after recent room re-decoration ). Worked perfectly after !

Review 3:NO COMPLAINTS AT ALL...!

Review 4:FANTASTIC, HONESTLY COULD FAULT A THING. BREAKFAST WAS GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY, NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE. STAFF POLITE AND AYTENTIVE. GREAT LOCATION. WOULDNT HAVE CHANGED ONE THING. THANKYOU ALL. WE'LL BE BACK...:0) NICKY & SIMON

Review 5:Having lived worked and travelled from the Artic to Africa, I was thrilled by the natural politeness and efficiency of your staff. They obviously enjoy their work and are justly proud of their Inn.The food, service and accommodation was superb. Well done, and Thanks Again. Best Regards, Geoff Gale.

Review 6:The coffee is not great. Too hot, too big and too weak. Could do with some barista training.

Review 7:It's situated in a quiet and charming little village. The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. We had dinner in the bar and enjoyed what we had.

Review 8:It was very much a pub with rooms alongside, so no staff in situ after about 7pm, and breakfast was out and into the pub and only up to 9am. Heavy dark furnishings. Wouldn't return. But it was serviceable and as we were out for dinner never ate in the pub.

Review 9:Small point but having to go outside in the winter to go to dinner and breakfast when the buildings are actually attached .

Review 10:Room very comfortable and clean Staff very helpful and above all polite to all the guests Food was first rate and real ale was lovely .

Review 11:The hotel walls were thin so could hear the chap in the next room snoring! Probably not the place for a romantic night away!

Review 12:A nice country pub with hotel facilities. Great breakfast and friendly staff. Superb value away from the hotel chains.

Review 13:Tired looking pub needing a lot of modernisation. Poor value compared to a B&B. Uncomfortable bed which I nearly rolled out of at one point.

Review 14:Quiet and attractive village location.

Review 15:Small single room on the hottest day on record for July, small window no air, silly little desk fan and a shower that had two settings Hot and Very Hot

Review 16:Unfortunately there was a booked function that had loud music playing until midnight, the function room was positioned directly below our room. It was a little difficult finding the hotel as there had been a road closure due to a bridge repair, of course not the hotels fault.

Review 17:The Golden Lion had that old English pub feel, without the hassle of a crowded dark venue smelling of spilt beer. We loved the country feel. We found the lounge /dining area had many interesting notations around the walls with reviews from grateful guests. Our accommodation was comfortable & roomy with a large bathroom. Good breakfast choices.

Review 18:The music playing in dining room at breakfast.

Review 19:The location, hotel situated in a most delightful and peaceful village. Within easy access of major motorways and Rugby.

Review 20:Room comfortable & facilities excellent for price. Breakfast excellent but more choice required. Quiet location with relatively easy access to motorway and main road network and nearby towns.

Review 21:Shower curtain in the bath, we have an aversion to them!

Review 22:Slept in an old four poster bed. Nice quite area no traffic to speak of and friendly staff and patrons if you are prepared to have a chat.

Review 23:The bed was a bit on the soft side for me.

Review 24:Talking Spanish to a landlady in the middle of the countryside! Stayed only one night, but good value for money with really friendly staff. Very quiet location.

Review 25:Excellent Pub & hotel, we stayed there for two nights for a nearby boat show at Crick, had two evening meals but not breakfasts as we needed to be away early each day. Will definitely return next year .

Review 26:The staff went out of their way to make me feel welcome. It was like a home away from home. The food was delicious and the breakfast provided lots of choice. The location was quaint and very quiet and the room was modern and clean. I would definitely stay again.

Review 27:A lovely place to relax after work... A fantastic pub downstairs with great food...and the staff at both the hotel and the pub were lovely. I would definitely recommend

Review 28:I didn't like that when I checked out at 9.. There was no one there and had to go round walking the grounds to find someone. This made me almost late for my interview ...

Review 29:I liked the spa bath and the 4 poster bed.. And the staff that checked me in to the hotel and showed me his room was very good and professional

Review 30:Very hard bed. Only one pillow each. Bar meals on the expensive side. Breakfast could have more choice, slightly more special for the price.

Review 31:Well furnished and appointed room. Great welcome, efficient check-in. Good bathroom, nice toiletries.Plenty of car parking. Quiet at night.

Review 32:no complaints

Review 33:stayed 1 night to attend a wedding. very comfortable And quiet room with pleasant surroundings. Had a simple meal on arrival to tide us over that was very good. Breakfast also good. friendly and welcoming staff.

Review 34:Lack of any information in the bedroom - had to phone reception to find out what time breakfast was served. Access to pub, for breakfast, from bedrooms is via outside (and it was raining)

Review 35:Cleanliness of room; comfy bed; good breakfast - and pub lunch; helpful staff; once we had checked in, we were able to access hotel late at night via key card, which was convenient.

Review 36:Bar area was minimal and as we arrived prior to our reservation time and just wanted a drink beforehand we had to sit at a table so felt obliged to order and eat early.

Review 37:Great location...looked promising on website...Breakfast was good..eat with boss and her chef...pleasant conversation.

Review 38:The food was excellent, but it was a little overpriced. When all said and done, its a pub with some accomodation attached. I'm not knocking what it is, but food needs to be priced a little more in line with surroundings.

Review 39:Friendly Staff, handy location, sensible hotel price.

Review 40:I have slept away on many occasions with my business, this four poster bed mattress was poor needs throwing away. Bedroom nice size loved the bath. Meals and breakfast was not worth the money poor value

Review 41:Beautiful place , staff friendly, the deal i got £77 was worth the night.

Review 42:Nothing really all good from check in till check out. Could have done with a DVD player in the room but digital channels were great entertainment.

Review 43:Spa bath was awesome and bed was comfortable. Furniture in room was Victorian style which set the room off.

Review 44:Avoid the room with the four poster bed, it squeaks like crazy every time you move.

Review 45:The meals and ambience in the pub are excellent. Decent sized room and bathroom.

Review 46:had to go outside to go from rooms to pub

Review 47:Lovely old pub with beams and log fire - happy to stay open for guests so no hassle. Friendly chatty staff. Rooms in new block alongside - had four poster , a bit firm but lovely soft duvet

Review 48:The pillows are thin but there are more in the cupboard should you need them.

Review 49:We adored this place: The hotel rooms are comfortable and very clean but the best bit about staying here is the beautiful, old pub with low ceilings, roaring fires, great ales and excellent food - a truly traditional pub. All staff, and other customers for that matter, were friendly and welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The breakfast was very good too. If you're looking for a romantic, candlelit meal or a function room, small meeting room or celebratory group meal booking then definitely book here as the varied facilities suit all occasions perfectly. Without doubt we'll be back again soon.

Review 50:Eat in restaurant, when paying for El carte you don't expect frozen chips and tinned mushy peas with thin dry fish that cost £14.

Review 51:Rooms and facitilities were good with bottle water, tea coffee etc

Review 52:We were booked into for an overnight stay , we found the reception hard to fine and unmanned, we went to the bar to receive attention.

Review 53:We went to the hotel for a surprise 50th birthday, the staff were very helpful in every way the food was excellent we would definitely return .

Review 54:They recommended a taxi company called J's Taxi. The owner/driver took advantage of us. We ended up paying £40 too much for a short taxi ride. Beware of the taxi driver that wants to turn off the meter!

Review 55:Atmosphere was outstanding. Good food.

Review 56:The only very minor point was that there were several bulbs that had blown and hadn't been replaced; otherwise fantastic all round!

Review 57:All the staff were very friendly which added to the warm pub feel to the hotel. The rooms were clean, quiet and comforatable for a great, single night's stay.
