Reviews for Buckingham Apartments
Review 1:Location: quite isolated in general and far from main hotel building in particular They didn't clean and tidy the bathroom nor the rooms (only the kitchen area) in 4 days
Review 2:Spacious, 2 tvs Comfortable beds (though hard and big pillows), Nearby park for children to play.
Review 3:Only that the cleaning staff should announce they need to enter the apartment by knocking louder before entering and call out as they open the door if no one answers the knock. This would be fair better for the occupants.
Review 4:Pleasantly surprised by the layout of the apartments. Decent parking.
Review 5:Reading other reviews we were a little apprehensive. However the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, the apartment was clean and warm and, after arriving late at night, woke up to lovely views across parkland from the kitchen/sitting room windows. The apartment was cleaned every day, we received fresh towels every day, overall we would recommend it to anyone. Excellent value for money for a location with such easy access to London.
Review 6:Kitchen crockery could be improved. On very busy road, so quite noisy even with window closed. Very basic but served purpose as wanted somewhere reasonably close to Warner Bros and central London and only slept in it.
Review 7:Two spacious rooms, big clean bathroom. Helpful, friendly staff. Handy for railway station, ten minutes by car. 10 mins into London.
Review 8:No wifi or sky in the apartment, otherwise excellent
Review 9:Excellent value for money; Apartment was very clean, modern and spacious. Ideal for a family stay, especially as the main bedroom is separate from the living room & kitchen. Bathroom spacious, clean, with good pressure on shower.
Review 10:Apartment missing a lot of kitchen appliances Would have been nice to know the apartments a further along than hotel Weren't given WiFi password with kids not easy to walk 5 mins back to ask for it Dog next door house barked for 12 hours non stop during night !!!!! Pillows didn't smell great at all
Review 11:Liked location of the property
Review 12:No good internet access, not fully equipped kitchen, pillows was not like you have pillow under your head
Review 13:Clean and big enough for 6 people to stay together.
Review 14:The kitchen could do with more cooking utensils and basic supplies eg salt/pepper. Also having a washing machine a clothes horse to hang washing on would very handy.
Review 15:In easy walking distance to shopping Centre and to motorway. We also had family in cookham.
Review 16:Not much really, we asked for extra spoons, larger coffee mugs and hand towels which were delivered the next day with no problem
Review 17:The fact that there was 2 bathrooms was really good as we were 3 females and 2 children staying also separate bedrooms was a bonus.
Review 18:Kitchen was light on crockery and cutlery, some blinds did not work and other small maintenance issues but nothing substantial
Review 19:Great location, away from the hotel, backs onto a large park with a play ground, ideal for the dogs and kids. Good size apparment and quiet.
Review 20:Unhelpful staff. We arrived late at night (10pm-11pm) and we did not expect that we would have to - pick up keys from main reception, - drive to the property - realise that a cot bed wasn't provided - drive back to main reception - pick up cot bed, linen, etc - drive back to the property - set it all up Kitchen wall was dirty from previous partying.
Review 21:Self-catering flat was in a reasonable condition
Review 22:The only downside was that we didn't get given the password to use the wifi.
Review 23:The apartment was clean, tidy and there were a suitable amount of amenities available.
Review 24:No slip mat available for use in the shower.
Review 25:The receptionist was friendly & helpful, the apartment was spotlessly clean and the heating was superb.
Review 26:On our first night the 6 berth apartment we had booked was unavailable so we were given the use of 2 flats in the same block which was difficult as a family with small children. We therefore carried a single bed mattress up a flight of stairs ourselves so we could be together. This had not occurred to the hotel staff. We were told our things would be moved to the bigger apartment the following morning which meant we had to pack everything away again. The staff had no knowledge of the situation so we moved everything ourselves (after carrying the mattress back downstairs). In the bigger flat the cooking facilities were sparse. There was only 1 frying pan, no tin opener, the oven didn't work at all and the control knobs on the hob did not work so all rings were on randomly and the heat could not be controlled. The table had only 4 chairs so 6 people could not have eaten there. The bathrooms in both flats smelled of damp. There was no interest from the member of staff to whom we returned our key in whether our stay had been satisfactory so, in the interest of not being held up on our journey, we didn't raise these issues then. I am very surprised that we were not offered any discount for the inconvenience or even an apology.
Review 27:The beds were comfortable, linen and towels were provided. The heating worked well. The decor was good and the shower was nice. Appreciated the toiletries that were provided.
Review 28:What is the point in booking into a nice hotel to NOT get a good night's rest? Too much noise from those above us-(sounded like playing football and partying till at least 0300am. A few times I knocked on their door to ask them to keep it quiet- yet was unsuccessful. I complained to the staff - and all I got was sorry (fair enough) but I lost on a good night rest considering I had a meeting to to attend to in the morning. Overall a nice place to stay- but not a nice place to rest :(
Review 29:Good housekeeping
Review 30:There was a cushion missing from the sofa on arrival, and the sofa was not very clean
Review 31:This was corrected the following morning and an appology received.
Review 32:The leather sofa was torn, the crockery was mis-matched. There were no instructions on where to collect the keys on arrival. We didn't find the wi-fi information until the last day as they were hidden in a bottom draw at the back. More care needs to be taken by the management regarding the up keep.
Review 33:The apartment was modern with nice views and access to the park at the rear. We would stay here again.
Review 34:There was a problem with the hob in the apartment, however the management fitted a new one the next morning and offered us a free breakfast as compensation.
Review 35:Decently priced, good sized accommodation.
Review 36:There weren't enough chairs (three in an apartment for 4) and no hand towels
Review 37:Worth recommending
Review 38:No tin opener and shortage of cutlery the only issue
Review 39:Good location near to local pubs and shops, friendly staff
Review 40:Great apartment with fantastic view, very good value for money, clean and spacious.
Review 41:WiFi not working in single room
Review 42:Clean Tidy Comfortable Allowed us to check in early
Review 43:Loved everything!
Review 44:Did not know what to expect but absolutely outstanding place with excellent service and very comfortable facilities!!!
Review 45:All very good !!! Recommend to everyone!
Review 46:A little difficult to find, but once at the Buckingham Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 47:Great parking Very clean Secure
Review 48:Inadequate amount of towels and pillows.
Review 49:Clean, spacious, good location, nice view
Review 50:no wifi
Review 51:cleanliness, modern, views,
Review 52:Same as above!!
Review 53:I should say I didn't enjoy myself last Thursday at all. I have stayed preveoius times and its been amazing. Mid afternoon was having a nap woke up to banging in the hall way I find a main trance man has let him self in after I had double locked my door he pulled up while carpet an he said 5-10 min job after 45 mins he eventually left .. Surely you should NOT have maintenance coming when people have or are in apartment and the fact when I checked in nothing was mentioned about this. One thing is lacking and that's " do not disturb signs" for the doors. He said he knocked but I watched him approach another room next door it wasn't a loud knock. I'm very disappointed and left shortly after as I could not concentrate after that. What a waste of money!!!!
Review 54:When we went in the apartment the pillows were dirty and the facilities were not good. The single bed did not have a head board and there was only one thin pillow which was very low. The ironing board cover was disgusting .
Review 55:The check in was early than expected
Review 56:Kitchen unit doors were falling off Could not for the life of us get the heating to come on - even after we asked for help. Scart leads hanging out of tellys because there are no DVD players. Couldn't get the balcony doors to lock - this felt very unsecure and made us both feel very uneasy about our entire stay. We ended up leaving early!!
Review 57:Friendly staff
Review 58:Apartment not where you pick up key. Hard to find, no signage, we went to wrong address as it was raining and dark and were 'chipped ' by a man for going on his property, quite rightly, street address not at all apparent.
Review 59:Lovely apartment, well equipped
Review 60:The double bed was in the smaller bedroom, and the two singles were in the master ensuite! There were a further two singles squeezed into the kitchen/lounge area. It was evident nobody counted the inventory as there was a mishmash of cutlery, glasses and plates with not enough for the six occupants.
Review 61:Location, very convent for, accessing London or Oxford by rail or road.
Review 62:My 6 bed family apartment was given to someone else and I was given 2 smaller apartments, I was not informed of this until check in when it was too late to look for somewhere else.
Review 63:We booked two apartments and there was no consistency in the kitchenequipment. One had an abundance of pots but only two breakfast bowls;the other had only two very small pots and no frying pan or milk in thefridge. There appeared to be no attention to detail when preparing theapartments for new visitors.
Review 64:The location is excellent for young children. The apartments (which areseparate from the hotel rooms by about 400 metres, a fact not apparentfrom the website at the time of booking) back on to a park with a hugeamount of flat run around space and a very good playground.
Review 65:When we first arrived the apartment was short of 1chair (only 5 for 6guests), no chopping board for kitchen despite it being fullyfunctional for cooking but only having melamine worktops so no good forcutting. Then, within less than an hour all the lights went out, thecooker stopped working and there was no hot water. Also found oneleather 2 seater settee a bit inadequate and very uncomfortable for somany guests. The two single beds set up in the kitchen were also asurprise, although comfortable. A bed settee that could be shut downduring the day to provide more comfortable seating and more room wouldbe much better.
Review 66:The fact that the staff very quickly dealt with all our concerns, including calling in someone was was off duty to sort out the powerproblems and re-establish the heating, lighting and hot water. Also theapartment was cleaned daily with new towels provided. It was alsosituated next to a well maintained green space with an excellent playpark which would be great for visitors with a young family needing tolet off steam. The views from the balcony were lovely, especially thesunsets, and it was very convenient for Oxford as well as London.Overall it was excellent value for money, working out at approx £25 ppper night with full kitchen facilities and two bathrooms plus asupermarket close by.
Review 67:Too hot at night and unable to open windows due to road noise. Needs air conditioning.
Review 68:Roomy and spacious, off street car parking, clean, very pleasant and helpful staff.
Review 69:Very hot, especially upstairs - perhaps could do with air con during the summer? Or provide fans. Windows did not lock properly which was worrying with young children. The dish cloth left on the sink was dirty and had obviously been there for quite some time, I hope it hadn't been used to clean the crockery/cutlery! There were a couple of staples sticking out on the stairs (staples that hold the carpet to the stairs). Didn't like the two single beds being in the lounge area - perhaps better to put two bunk beds in either the upstairs bedroom or the ground floor bedroom, thus still providing room for six people. Having the beds in the lounge area meant there was only enough room for one sofa which does not accommodate six people which the apartment is described as! If there are two bunk beds in another bedroom, this would then give space for two sofas in the lounge area. Also, no lift! How would a disabled person manage?
Review 70:Very clean, perfect for the price. Stayed with a group of friends and we were all in one block. Friendly staff allowed us to pay individually when we got there.
Review 71:clearly the intention was to make these apartments luxury , i just felt the finishings really let it down..head boards hanging off, rusty towel rails, cupoards not on straight and the fridge door opened the wrong way. if the these little things were fixed the apartments would be perfect. Also 3 single beds in the living room space, if space was used better, one of the single beds would be better off in the larger bedroom...
Review 72:lots of space, everything you need for a group of friends staying and great value for money for a group of you. Two bathrooms which is a bonus. The staff on reception were polite and helpful - when we reported a faulty iron they brought us another straight away!
Review 73:Please send info that the key should be collected from Buckingham Hotel. We were driving round looking for Buckingham Apartment which is 400m away and not marked.
