Reviews for Heatherbank B&B

Review 1:The hospitality, comfortable beds in a clean room with great home made cooked breakfast what a good B&B is about!Left property behind, the lovely owner contacted me and kindly forwarded my property to my home address! Thank you for that Heatherbank b&b! Wonderful place! Will stay again!

Review 2:This is the first time that I have stayed at a B&B when the proprietor has brought his pet parrots into the breakfast room. One parrot flew onto the back of one of the dining chairs and soiled the carpet. The owner's wife then had to clean the mess from the carpet. This distracted her from giving the necessary attention to cooking my breakfast which, when it arrived, was overcooked and tasteless.

Review 3:I was not made aware that bathroom is shared and was disappointed when found out. It was unusual to be asked to take the shoes off and leave them at the entrance. Breakfast was average, there is 1 small table , where guests sit together.

Review 4:Good location , comfortable bed, nice and quiet room.

Review 5:Room a little dated, and some water damage and marks, bathroom a little small.

Review 6:The owner was extremely friendly and very accommodating, great breakfast and nice and quite. Also good wifi and plenty of parking.

Review 7:Address difficult to find in the dark(v small sign), bathroom a bit far from room, didn't really like having to remove my shoes!

Review 8:Friendly staff, v good breakfast., good value, interesting house and ornaments!

Review 9:Shared bathroom but fortunately no other guests that night.

Review 10:Character house, great room , good bathroom, friendly owners, great breakfast even with parrot for company!.definitely a place to go back to.

Review 11:Asked to take shoes off at front door, emergency escape lighting " a torch hung on wall with sign above". Hostess not very talkative at all. Very dated.

Review 12:finding the address for the first time - road was a bit too 'busy' to take chances

Review 13:very comfortable and spacious accommodation. Excellent breakfast.

Review 14:Venue was geographically perfect for our visit and we had a very warm welcome despite a late arrival (2200hrs) along with an excellent breakfast the following day!

Review 15:Slightly odd place. No mention of cats & my adult son is allergic to them. Also do not visit if dislike insects or caged birds.. Bathroom down long corridor so need a dressing gown. Parking very chaotic

Review 16:Lady pleasant . Breakfast good

Review 17:The owners were up til gone midnight talking and playing guitar right next to our room.We got very little sleep-which spoilt our weekend.

Review 18:Lovely home,lovely room

Review 19:Home from home. Very interesting Victorian house with fabulous grounds and excellent location only 10mins walk to the high street. Very lovely chatty hostess...we felt very welcomed and most comfortable.

Review 20:We were made very welcome regardless of the fact that we arrived earlier than the B&B opened. Mary, John and Henry could not have been more hospitable.

Review 21:The mattresses on the single beds were very soft and not good if you had a bad back. Woken up by budgerigars in the adjoining room!

Review 22:We had the conservatory room which was very spacious and well furnished. There was a good choice of food fo breakfast and it was well presented.

Review 23:Very personal and thoughtful touches - such as flowers and a card in recognition that we were spending the first night of our honeymoon there (they also sent an email prior to the wedding wishing us all the best on the day). Friendly and very comfortable.

Review 24:Nothing.

Review 25:The history of the house, type of construction ( being a retired builder). The garden with the extraordinary additions to planting and layout, I mean musical instruments !!! just great, my kind of the world as it should be.

Review 26:Some guests would freak out at a parrot flying around the breakfast room, although it didn't bother me

Review 27:Spacious building. No fuss. Friendly hosts. Good overall

Review 28:I didn't realise I'd be sharing a bathroom which made it difficult the next morning as I had to hunt for another bathroom just to use the loo. There was no sink in the bedroom which you sometimes get when there's no toilet so it couldn't fill up the kettle or wash my face before venturing out of the room in the morning. The hotel is also poorly signed and I drove past it twice before I found it. Please add a bigger sign on the road to help your customers. It can be quite frustrating at night time especially.

Review 29:I felt very welcomed into the hotel especially as I requested a late check in. The decoration was lovely and the room very comfortable.

Review 30:Nothing really. Some might be turned off by being asked to remove shoes at entrance, but being a B&B in a residential house, such a hygienic practice makes sense!

Review 31:Owner did not make a fuss that I had to check-in late, because of travel delays. Breakfast was very nice and overall stay pleasurable.

Review 32:Single glazing made for being kept awake by traffic noise. Had great trouble finding the place. I spent half an hour driving up and down the same small stretch of road on a rainy night, expecting to see a prominent B and B sign. I had to crawl up and down the road to the annoyance of other drivers to eventually find a carved wooden sign on a low wall. Very small sink in bathroom.

Review 33:Clean. Friendly land lady. Very spacious room. Large tv. Very local for my business trip.

Review 34:Arriving on foot the entry is very dark at night and can get flooded after heavy raid so keep left if you walk in the in the dark!

Review 35:I found the room to be very comfortable and clean, the host excellent and the breakfast superb. My only gripe was that the bed in the room i stayed, the Cherub Room, was a little soft for my liking. HOWEVER as someone with back problems I can only get comfortable on hard beds, so as much of my doing that the bed itself.

Review 36:I knew Heatherbank was no ordinary B&B when the proprietor walked into the breakfast room with a parrot on his shoulder. And when the proprietess gave me a tour of her collection of exotic and rare reptiles, I felt like it was a home away from home. Overall, a charmingly eclectic place. Will definitely be back.

Review 37:The tiny door to get through (wasn't there long enough to ask about opening the other doors), the noise from the main road, only because I'm used to darkness and silence, but that's me not a fault with the B&B itself.

Review 38:The old house, the bathroom with a bath and shower - even though it was shared - the breakfast so very well cooked, the animals, the Parrots, Del Boy and the other two (forgotten their names already) the miniature tortoise, and all the other pets. The carvings in the wood outside, so beautiful. The wonderful dolls houses. Most of all Mary and John were very entertaining to say the least - perfect people for B&B owners.

Review 39:On arrival met by a man at the door who didnt introduce himself until hehad actually shown me around where we were staying. He wasnt aware wehad booked. We had booked the apartment for 3 nights. We arrived at 4pm,which I was told was the booking in time. He said its usually later butoh...mary doesnt tell me anything. Thought to myself...this is a greatstart! Anyway, unloaded the car, got the children in (6 years and 13months) and thought great...holidays have started, lets have a great fewdays. My initial thoughts of having a great few days away soon turnedinto me being a concious wreck! As we had travelled in the car for 3 andhalf hours, our 13 months old routine of naps went out the window as hedidnt want to sleep at the usual 8pm... He was up until midnight. Noproblem I thought as we are on holiday and it will be nice to have a layin! Midnight came and our 13 month old was still awake. Not crying orwhinging, just happily walking around the apartment. Knock on the doorand it was mary the owner. Not happy as our son was keeping her awake.Explained our situation, apologised and she said " just be aware imsleeping underneath you and have to be up at 6.30am to dobreakfast" !! We paid £100 per night to stay there and actuallyended up coming home a day early as we were conscious of our son keepingher up again. On handing our keys back no offer of just paying for the 2nights we stayed she took for the 3 nights. Didnt ask us if we had anyproblems with our stay or if we werent happy with anything, moreinterested in my bank card! She didnt even ask why were we leavingearly. Never again will we stay here. Oh and having to take your shoesoff before you went in and leaving them in a tray. Get some moreappropriate flooring down. And a bit of bleach in your cups wouldnt goamiss..not keen on drinking out of other peoples tea stained mugs!

Review 40:The tree outside! Oh and the very nice gentleman who did odd jobs forthe b&b

Review 41:A little unusual to be asked to take shoes off at the door but not too much trouble.

Review 42:Bedroom was spacious and bed comfortable. Very clean. Breakfast was wonderful. Highly recommend.

Review 43:Wi fi needed boosting

Review 44:Garden setting and rural location brilliant, breakfast was very good. Many personal touches were evident. Room was spacious and comfortable with 2 easy chairs to relax in and watch the huge TV, shame there was no side table to put the cups on.

Review 45:No shared bathroom. Difficult to find entrance and car parking when driving up the busy road with queue of traffic behind you. Driveway could have a sign to assist travelers to locate it. The sign on the driveway was for flats 2a and 2b but not no 9 the guesthouse number.
