Reviews for Citotel Hôtel le Challonge

Review 1:Room was older than expected - old carpet, small and low bed, dark and not very welcoming - we found out at check out that it will be renovated by end of January. Not a very good quality price and didn't match the pictures when booking.

Review 2:Excellent location, very central in a beautiful building (from the outside). Particular mention to the hotel staff, receptionist and the lady at the breakfast room were very welcoming. Good shower.

Review 3:Location was perfect for exploring downtown Dinan. Julie, at the front desk, was exceptionally nice!!! Breakfast was substantial and worth the money. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 4:First room had ceiling window and felt bit claustrophobic but staff very helpful and moved to front room with view for very reasonable upgrade ( £8 per night )

Review 5:Lovely location with fabulous view over historic square. Go for a front room for the view.

Review 6:No facilities, breakfast poor quality so go to hotel two doors down in morning which has beautiful interior/patio

Review 7:Great family room divided by door. Baby monitor reaches lovely restaurant below so it's a great option for young families

Review 8:Parking across the road for 7 euros a day (free overnight). There is a lift in the building. Walking distance to all things you'd want to visit within Dinan. Great, inexpensive restaurant right next door

Review 9:The bar/ restaurant staff were not nice or polite when we asked for an ice bucket. However the reception staff helped in every way that they could.

Review 10:The room was lovely quiet and confortable

Review 11:We arrived on market day and there was nowhere at all to park.

Review 12:I arrived with a flat tyre and the wife of the owner of the hotel spent a long time on the phone to Avis for me.

Review 13:Lacking was a lounge and the breakfast could have been a little bit better laid out.

Review 14:The staff and manager made us very welcome, we appreciated the restaurant next door which was to a nice standard.

Review 15:The situation of this quiet hotel is within 100m of the centre of the medieval town of Dinan in France It is a small hotel run by the proprietor so everything is attended to immediately from tourist information to parking tips etc. An excellent hotel situated in the heart of town and a good place to relax after a hectic sightseeing day!!

Review 16:No cooling in hotel room so room was either hot (too uncomfortable to sleep) or too noisy if you tried to keep the window open.

Review 17:Location and staff friendliness.

Review 18:Nothing. We arrived after a long drive and couldn't have been happier with the staff, facilities and location.

Review 19:Lovely, easy-going, efficient, excellent staff. Beautiful front-facing rooms with big windows and fluttering curtains, spacious rooms with comfortable beds.

Review 20:Nothing to dislike.

Review 21:Everything was superb. What an absolute gem of a place. Modern, fresh and exceptionally clean hotel with a restaurant to die for, fantastic selection of food and drink with very friendly staff.

Review 22:All good.

Review 23:Excellent welcome at reception. Room had all we needed (although tea etc facilities would have been nice). Clean and warm towels. Very comfortable bed. Room very quiet. Hotel central and good car parking.

Review 24:Nothing.

Review 25:Location, parking very close, good rooms and facilities, aimable staff who spoke English well and were helpful. There is a good restaurant attached which has a good medium priced menu and caters for children. What's not to like??

Review 26:Booked a double room, confirmed nearer the time it was a double bed. Our room had two single beds pushed together so not impressed. French TV, nothing in English, shower was terrible, soaked the floors.

Review 27:Friendly small hotel, nice warm and clean rooms, right in the heart of Dinan so just a few minutes walk to the town. Would stay again if we had a double bed and a shower that works properly!

Review 28:The car parking - lots of car parks at low cost but all very crowded and much used and my car was damaged while parked over night.

Review 29:The central location well able for walking through the old Dinan and a very comfortable, quiet, well cared for room.

Review 30:Can't fault anything!

Review 31:The staff were unfailingly polite and cheerful. The position is fantastic and all the services offered were up to expectation. The view from the breakfast room is quinticential French. Very good value for money. Would definitely book again.

Review 32:Location is great, car park across the road. Very handy. Breakfast was very good. We had a suite and it was extremely quiet. Lift a plus. The hotel restaurant is very good, fills up very quickly at lunch time. All in all, very good.

Review 33:Breakfast rates. Should be included in the price or a lower charge to encourage more people to take the option.

Review 34:Location: right in the centre opposite a large open car park. Staff were very pleasant and spoke good English.

Review 35:Parking was a bit hit and miss !

Review 36:Very central , everything within easy walking distance , lovely big room with a very comfortable bed and a great view.

Review 37:Not very soundproof and our neighbor had his TV on at all hours. This is our only complaint.

Review 38:The friendliness of the staff was incredible at all levels and at all times.

Review 39:Excellent help from the hotel receptionist in finding a local garage, translating the problem and persuading them to take my car into their fully-booked workshop. Great service. Thank you.

Review 40:It was our second visit to the hotel. Enjoyed the warm welcome. We love the centrality of the hotel and the fact that parking is available across the road.

Review 41:Pillows were a bit hard and lumpy. Had the express breakfast, were not sure what was included and the coffee was very strong.

Review 42:Central easy to find location. Lots if reasonably priced parking nearby €1.40. Comfortable room though fairly basic.

Review 43:The hotel is centrally located. Parking outside is free for 30 minutes (perfect for unloading) then one can either pay hourly or move to free parking 500 yards away. Get a ticket for the free 30 mins from the machine. All is fine in the hotel. Staff are very friendly and helpful.. Dinan is a beautiful place. Just wander around.

Review 44:Everything came up to our expectations so there was nothing to complain about.

Review 45:We liked the location, rooms were ready when we arrived. Easy parking directly opposite hotel. Very convenient to be able to have breakfast in the hotel and to have such a lovely view overlooking the ramparts. Will definitely book again and look forward to our return visit.

Review 46:The shower tray filled up with too much water, something needs to be put down the drain to make it flow away quicker. There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 47:Location was excellent with an abundance of restaurants and shops on the doorstep. The staff were very knowledgeable of the local area and spoke excellent English. The room we had was spacious and very comfortable. Parking was opposite the hotel and reasonably priced and we were able to see the car from our room.

Review 48:Excellent location in the centre of Dinan. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful with information of the area. Breakfast was very good with plenty to choose from. The towels and bedding were changed daily. We had a. Very pleasant stay.

Review 49:The shower in the room I had was very small. It worked perfectly well but a normal man would find it hard to maneouvre in and to shut and open its door. To be fair the room was priced accordingly to take this into account. The hotel reception is unmanned after 9.30pm sot guests receive a key code to gain late entry. Not ideal but OK.

Review 50:Central location, convenient parking, value for money, competent staff, who provided a guide map of Dinan and advice on where to go. 35 minutes drive on uncluttered roads to St. Malo ferry port.

Review 51:Nothing - All good.

Review 52:Location was great! Stored our bikes in the basement. Provided good suggestions for what to do. Provided room big enough for family of five.

Review 53:No drinking water provided in the room (OK, it could be bought by the bottle ... but really?). Breakfast options could have perhaps been more varied (but this is France). Room a bit dingy, but very adequate. Staff very helpful when asked - good tips on nearby places to visit etc.

Review 54:Comfortable bed, well-functioning shower in spacious bathroom, pleasant breakfast room, ideal central location for visiting Dinon. Free parking is indeed available a short walk away (below the stunning city walls). Unlike some others, we found the room was calm and quiet, even though we overlooked the fine market square and main street.

Review 55:Wifi worked best in the office area. It didn't work well in our room.

Review 56:The hosts were friendly and very helpful. Loved our room...clean, nicely decorated, classy look. Enjoyed the balcony overlooking the parking lot. It is located about a block down the street from the TI. TI was helpful more than once in our visit. Great town!

Review 57:Hospitality, friendliness and professionalism of all the staff and management were exceptional, a joy to stay again one which I repeat regular.
