Reviews for Northfields Hostel

Review 1:too expensive for what you get. room cold , unfriendly, looks more like a prison cell than a hostel. I am not picky but this would be the last choice if you have nowhere else than the street left to sleep

Review 2:The shower heads need replacing urgently - they are currently belting out scalding hot water and the temperature control is broken - very dangerous.

Review 3:The rooms are warm and much cleaner than previously.

Review 4:If I would change one thing - the showers - the heads need replacing as they are broken and there is no temperature control - they were scalding hot.

Review 5:The rooms are nice and warm and it's generally clean - though the kitchen could do with a tidy up.

Review 6:It was the most disgusting, antisocial and cold place i have ever seen and stayed at! Such a nightmare, seriously. From dirty floors, bedsheets (actually black), moldy old showers in the cellar, super old building to unfriendly workers, to very strange people who actually live in there. Trust me you do not want to make such an experience!!!

Review 7:Nothing at all

Review 8:For lazy people like me, the lift?

Review 9:Perfect location, almost across the street from the Northfields Underground Station. And just a short ride from Heathrow.

Review 10:Everything!

Review 11:Better stay in car overnight than in this place. They show diferent room then they place you in crup room. Discusting place and should be shuted down!

Review 12:The fire alarm went of quite a few times throughout the night. The glass in the door let all the light in from the hall. You could hear the trains.

Review 13:The bed was comfortable. It was close to the train station.

Review 14:the quilts weren't clean :(

Review 15:location and I traveld with 4 people the room had 4 bed and work great if you just need a place to sleep and a shower is perfect.

Review 16:Noice from the traffic out side,Noice from the tube station, drunken lodgers, uncomfortable bed and notice from the next room due to paper thin walls made our stay a very bad experience.

Review 17:Reception staf was very helpful

Review 18:Too noisy because of the closeness to railway station. Too few dishes in the kitchen. Also noisy beds.

Review 19:Ok place for this money we paid. Helpful staff.

Review 20:-no wi-fi signal -springs bed guite loud, but not in every bed -the window was leaky- it was quite cold during one night -building from the outside looks pretty ugly and it's hard to see that this is Hostel- they could use a name board on the building

Review 21:-good location& price -helpful staf- they gave us adapter which we forgot to take :D -the dormitory room was quite big -the whole building was clean -a well-equipped kitchen (mugs, spoons, pots etc)

Review 22:This place is awful, the beds were so squeaky and you are right beside the metro, so you heard the trains all night. Staff were beyond rude and didn't care that the wifi wouldn't work for us or that our beds were squeaky. Rooms were dirty, bathroom was passable, didn't check out the showers, they were in the basement. No sign on the outside of the building, broken windows, it looked like an abandoned building from the outside.

Review 23:Nothing, I would not recommend this to anyone

Review 24:the rooms were too hot. the beds were uncomfortable. the wifi was no good at all. the smoke alarm went off several times for no reason and woke me up in the night also. the walls are too thin and I could hear my neighbours and people in the kitchen.

Review 25:the location of the hostel to good transport. the staff were friendly.

Review 26:The female toilets were not on the same floor, they were ex-mens-toilets and everything, including the room, was rather dirty. After the first shock we got used to it though and when we heard what other people pay for similar accomodation, it seemed not so bad after all.

Review 27:We had a room with a window and two single beds, just as we had asked for, 24 hour reception and helpful friendly staff. The location is ok to get to Wembley by bus and there are shops nearby. All we needed was there.

Review 28:Staff was very rude, showers and bathrooms were very dirty. Rooms were not as shown in the website picture. Bedrooms had insects n floors were dirty. It was an awful experience that we left earlier!

Review 29:The beds made a horrible noise and the tube was running outside our window almost the whole night. The toilet and shower facilities could have been tidyer.

Review 30:The place is located very near the tube station, although quite far from central London. Fridge in the room was a positive surprise.

Review 31:The wifi never worked the entire stay. The staff was unconcerned aboutmy problems with the wifi. The rooms were livable, but rundown. Theshowers were newer, and the bathrooms were decent. The laundryfacilities were horrendous.

Review 32:The only redeeming quality is the location. It is located just acrossthe street from the tube station and a bus stop.

Review 33:Really bad value for price. Toilet and showers are disgusting!worst hostel I ve ever stayed in. You can get better value much closer to the city centre. I was speaking to a guest who told me they were put there paid by the council and they were several of them. No wonder the owners don't care as they get paid anyway.Avoid!!

Review 34:Nothing and will never stay there again.

Review 35:The beds were uncomfortable and noisy Trains ran past the window constantly, noise levels unacceptable. Towels cost £2 each to borrow! Showers and toilets grim ants in shower we could go one but too depressing

Review 36:It was cheap everything else was awful

Review 37:The showers looked like they hadn't had a thorough clean for a long time. It was also difficult to have privacy. The toilets could do with a thorough clean as well.

Review 38:Location was great as the hostel is across the road from Northfield Station so easy to find. Staff were generally friendly & helpful as were some of the permanent residents.

Review 39:It was very noisy cos our rooms were next to the railway line, & once the railway service stop, the rail or road maintenance started & the noise makes us sleepless. So it was a restless night for all of us.

Review 40:Tube station just opposite.... person in charge helpful....

Review 41:Toilets smelled like a public urinal and were very basic. Curtains let in loads of light and beds creaked like crazy, other guests were very noisy from 5am. Still managed to sleep ok though and took respite in the fact that it was so cheap.

Review 42:Location excellent, price very good, manager very cooperative. Parking cheap especially for London. Tube nearby on Piccaddilly line.

Review 43:Bit confusing to walk up to. No sign on building, just piece of paper in window saying 'use other door'. Really far out from everything, had to leave club really early to get last tube. Noisy location first thing in morning.

Review 44:Really close to tube. Sainsburys across the road. Check-in really quick and simple. Rooms perfectly adequate for base/sleeping. Fridge freezer in room was handy.

Review 45:shared kitchen was dirty with dirty pans and plates left around

Review 46:Big fridge in the room. Lovely clean new on-suite bathroom Helpful, friendly folk on reception

Review 47:I have stayed at this hostel for several nights over a perion of two weeks. At every stay myself and other guests were disturbed by doors being slammed late at night which was resumed at 6 oclock in the morning. Which I was woken by. This was affecting other guests so mutch that there was nearly a fight in the reception area. This is caused by the firedoors having no slowing down mechanism and being blown shut by open windows. If you want a restful nights sleap and do not want a 6 am rude awakening by doors slamming I suggest you look for another hostel. This is a shame as the hostel is quite clean and the location is nice. This needs to be addressed by the a change of attitude of manager who reacts to any compl;aint with a hostile stare.

Review 48:Fairly clean. Location.

Review 49:being so close to an underground station has the downside of it being close to the tracks.

Review 50:the location it 1-2 mins from an underground station , depending how long it takes to cross the road. it was very clean throughout with all the kitchen facilities you could expect

Review 51:Smelly hostel, the heat could not be shut off even though I asked staff. They said open the window but it faces the street and tube station so you get noise and smoke because the front door is below the window and that's where the smokers congregate. Toilet room was also disgusting and should be cleaned more often.

Review 52:Beds squeak so bad. My husband shimed the fridge so it would stop rocking back and forth. About 2 inches of water in the shower floors standing still. You have to pump the toilet to get it to flush.

Review 53:I didn't like where the shower bathroom was way down in the bottom of the basement. For women it should be on the floor where the bed rooms are. And I don't like how the lockers look like there are not safe to use. And again the areas where the locker are kept way Down under neat the basement. And thebaseme not area is not clean, you could see all the sheets and pillow case throwing down on the floor.and the basement shower room is all wet.

Review 54:it was ok for me on that night with person in the room.i like the room it was ok.

Review 55:It was dirty, some beds were broken, every bad was noisy while turning from one side to the other. The staff didn't clean the showers although I asked for. The toilets didn't have paper from time to time and were dirty like hell.

Review 56:The following are very minor issues: You have to pay for parking (which is OK), but you cant reserve parking. So you are taking a chance if you decide to drive. The beds were squeaky and you can hear the trains passing by. This did not bother me, but may be an issue for a light sleeper.

Review 57:Very close to Northfields underground station. Easy to get to when coming by car from the M4 motorway. Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 58:The trains are a bit noisy; if you are a light sleeper that could be a problem. It wasn't for me though....

Review 59:Good night's sleep The big fridge in our room

Review 60:Only got three parking spaces and if you are lucky enough to get one you have to hand over £5. You can park on the street opposite until 9am and because I was working nights I had to get up and move car to a car park which was 15 minute walk back. The noise in the room was horrendous and the windows are all way round two sides of the room and the make shift curtains only covered a third of it

Review 61:Fridge in the room. Good location for where I was working.

Review 62:Bagni sporchi, Stanze sporche, corridoi puzzolenti nauseabondi, rumore della metro quasi insopportabile durante la notte...

Review 63:Letto abbastanza comodo... Entrata della metro a due passi...

Review 64:It`s a hostel, so bedrooms were ok. Shower is just awful... Kitchen is quite good. It`s next to a busy road, with public lights on, there`s no good curtain. But it`s good, that tube station is just opposite side.

Review 65:Good location...

Review 66:On check-in : bathroom door handle falling off, sink plug blocked, shower not working, after 8 days and numerous requests they haven't been fixed. Paid 5 pounds a night for guaranteed parking, turned one evening there was no room, receptionist offered a tiny space where if you park you can't get oit of car, said I can't park in there as I also have a handicap, started shouting really loud at me

Review 67:Nothing

Review 68:I usually don't have an issue with the things people but in reviews, but this was over the top. Internet wouldn't stay connected., roommate told me she went to an internet cafe. Night staff, which I presumed was the owner because he was with his family, acted like it was my problem. Temperature could not be adjusted, so it was too hot with very cold drafts from the open windows and the 45 F air coming in. Kitchen was nonfunctional if I had really wanted to cook food which I had considered. No refrigerator in room as described. When I questioned, there were display cases in basement kitchen. I was so uncomfortable I left my food. Don't take credit cards without a 2 pound surcharge. Don't give towels unless you pay 2 pounds. Cleanliness on the low end of acceptable. Bed too soft.

Review 69:Convenient to underground, good price

Review 70:The only thing I would say is that it is not that bad... It's not the Ritz. But a budget place to stay in London.

Review 71:The train station is over the road and the WiFi is good. The hostel has new management and they are getting it up to date as the last owners did not look after it. The staff were helpful and nice. I had booked my stay before I read the reviews and did not like what I read and did not want to find it was a bad place. But when I got there and had a look for my self it was not that bad... Ok yes you can hear the trains go by at night and first thing in the morning. Yes it is a bit unclean but It is getting sorted out. Yes you do have to go down to the basement to have a shower... But it is being up dated and I did see that while I was staying there. So don't be put off by the bad reviews. It is cheap it is easy to get into central London from their in about 20 minutes. I give it 6/10 and the next time I stay there it will probably be more up to date.

Review 72:Appalling showers, poor kitchen facilities(plates, bowls etc) Too hot in room, no way of adjusting temperature.Only one male toilet, up another floor !. No room cleaning.I have stayed in hostels all over the world, and this was the worst ever. They should be reported to Environmental Health department.

Review 73:WiFi is not good, it was very slow and some of us couldn't even connect to the internet. We had to pay for an ensuite bathroom as the public ones are not clean (cost us extra £30).

Review 74:It is right next to the underground train. Very quiet place. Friendly staff. The checkout time was at 11am. But one of my friends coach is at 4pm and they let us keep the bags until then in an secure location very nice of them.

Review 75:Quite far from city centre and its cleaniness is ummm....not good as expected and the overall facilities is fair. Better not use the kitchen and the washroom is terrible.

Review 76:Fair Price.

Review 77:When I booked my bed for the night I sent a message saying that I needed a bottom bunk because I am disabled and cannot get up a ladder to a top bunk. When i got up to my room the smell was awful. A lot like unwashed bodies. All the bottom beds were taken and when I spoke to the guy downstairs he seemed to not care or understand. So I ended up spending the night in a wooden chair.

Review 78:Beside Northfields tube station. Nice little kitchen to make tea and has two good cookers if you want to cook.I booked a twin room with shower. Buy an oyster card ticket to travel around London. On direct line from Heathrow aerport.

Review 79:Weak Spring beds that makes too much noise and shakes when one lies on it. You can develop pains because the bed matrazes and springs are too weak for even a lady weighing 48 kg, talkless of an average person weighing 60 to 80kg human beings.

Review 80:Clean bed spread /Bedsheets

Review 81:-really dirty common spaces -showers were really dirty and disgusting, almost impossible to use -strange people in the hostel (homeless who work there for the accommodation??) -wifi was not working when I needed it -payment with a card with a fee

Review 82:location is the only good thing about that hostel

Review 83:Everything else: - Hygiene in bathrooms was bad - Lots of noise from the street - Kitchen wasn't clean at all - Showers were in the basement and were in kind of like improvised spaces and weren't decent. This was literally the worst facility we've ever been to. When we arrived in the room, the room was really hot (around 25 degrees!). We thought it would be better when we came back in the evening but it was just the same. It was too hot to just sit in the room, let alone to sleep in it. We asked if they could lower the heat but the guy told us he didn't know how the installation worked and told us just to open the windows. This really wasn't a solution because of the temperatures outside and the noise from the street. But we opened the windows a litte bit anyway. We tried to sleep but at night the heater went down so it was too cold in the room. The single glazing windows also began to clap because of the wind outside. We checked out the next day and stayed the other two nights in another hotel.

Review 84:- Close to tubestation

Review 85:the showers were awful heating system was on all night and because of metro under the window it was not possible to keep it open there is no locker in the room for the guests

Review 86:kithcen was nice location (especially for connection to Heathrow)

Review 87:Hot water cannot control. Shower without cold water. Toilets not comfortable.

Review 88:Location this hostel in front of tube station. Easy access to city center. Kitchen provide and easy to cook.

Review 89:wifi is slow and sometimes not available, the W.C is not very clean

Review 90:very cheap, 20 meters from the Northfields tube, quiet location, the staff is helpfull

Review 91:We had stayed there for three days and they never cleaned our room. Even I asked the reception to clean our room and the rubbish bin on the second morning and they promised to do so, they still did nothing. We had to ask for new towels and toilet paper by ourselves. It was really a bad experience and we will never choose this hostel again.

Review 92:The location and wifi are good.

Review 93:Its near to all the trains and all the plains fly above so the noise is very strong, ugly smell in all the hostel, the shower its in the lower grand flour , its like scary movie there, to expensive for ehat they offer

Review 94:Wifi

Review 95:Expexted more for that price (especially after my week earlier visit to Malta). At room (but not double room that we reserved) basic equipment was, too much heated & non closing windows, beds..hm, noisy (IYKWIM:P).Showers ugly - only 4 for a lot of rooms

Review 96:Easy to find - far from centre but next to tube station. clean linen

Review 97:Everything! The room is dirty, with an old fridge they probebly bought from car boots sale. The bed were noisy, every move you make it squeaks. The room is right by the rail way station, you can hear the train till maybe 1' clock in the morning, and from 5-6am the train runs again! The wall is very very thin, you can hear the stranger's breath from the next door. People who live there do not have manners, they slam the door hardly in the midnight, make you jump out of the bed. The shower is in the basement of the building, you have to carry everything all the way there and the condition of the shower room is really really poor. There is only one toilet for the whole floor, and you have to brush your teeth in that toilet! Basically, even you want to save money, find another place, definitely not this one!

Review 98:Nothing that I liked. It's simply the worst place man can ever lived.

Review 99:The showers are under the building, the women toilet is at the first floor, and the man toilet at the second floor. The rooms are dirty, the windows are black, the internet is not working and the staff is unfriendly...

Review 100:it's not very clean, it's noisy during the night because of the trains passing by behind the window. personally i didn't mind

Review 101:it's good value for money, though it's located far from the city center the connection is very good

Review 102:Duvet is old and smelly. All showers is inconvenient. Bed is noisy.everytime you move making noise disturbing sleep and neighbours. Pillows is smelly and old, too.

Review 103:Location

Review 104:Everything about the place,it is not like the photos - beware! They charge for towels and you have to pay cash - no receipts for this. It appears that there is one floor of reasonable accommodation the remainder is like a hovel with one toilet serving a whole corridor etc etc

Review 105:Nothing was good here except leaving.

Review 106:The toilet could be cleaner but for a few nights stay it was fine.

Review 107:The bed was clean and comfortable. Close to station and food shops and friendly pubs for a nightcap drink. Staff were helpful and the people who were staying there were friendly. The showers were good and hot. It was quiet at night for a good night sleep. For a stop over few days it was fine. No problems.

Review 108:Was cold as heaters were not working. Could only pay cash!!! Glad we up graded to a private bathroom as the bathroom was in the basement and we were on the 2nd floor, showers where yuk and had mouldy - very noise place to stay. Would not recommend!'

Review 109:Location was ok.

Review 110:1. dont believe when receptionist says the card machine is broken = LIE 2. no hot water at night 3. undefined white dirty things covered shower tab = vert dirty shower; if you really need to take shower, just dont look up 4. most terrible one...bug bites from toilet or bed..4 days past and still itcy im not spoiled one at all...im frequent traveller with tight budget, so i experienced so many "low price" hostels in the world..but it is the worst ever..just left after first night and moved to other hostel for rest of nights.

Review 111:very close from the northfields station, but no elevator or escalator at the station

Review 112:It is a bit noisy in the morning It was a bit cold at night and the bed covers were stinky, but the bedsheets were clean.

Review 113:Good location. We looked for it for a few minutes, it doesn't have a proper sign. Pretty clean Small price Luggage room Wifi

Review 114:Even If you need some where cheap do no stay here it's the worst place in London just disgusting!!

Review 115:Even If you need some where cheap do no stay here it's the worst place in London just disgusting

Review 116:This hostel is terrible. You can´t sleep anything because you have the metro and trains all the time just 5 meters from your room and the window is crap. It must be forbidden. It´s terrible!! And also the wall in the bedroom is like paper, you can hear the noise everywhere. The bed is really noise. The shower, no comment, OMG, I don´t know why this hostel is still open. In general, they need an inspection. The bad experience ever...

Review 117:I would not let my dog sleep here, 1 The pictures shown on the website don't represent the reality 2 It was very dirty throughout 3 My 14year old son said he would be cleaner washing in the Thames than in the showers as the water didn't drain away, meaning you walked through other peoples dirty water 4 You would catch salmonella if you used the kitchen 5 The whole place needs a good clean and fresh paint 6 Cheap doesn't mean you need to accept sub standard conditions

Review 118:Nothing!!!!

Review 119:Booked a single room. The ladies was one floor below and showers in basement. The water was very hot and adjustment to cooler didn't work so couldn't get under water, Shower heads covered in verdigris and needed a good clean also ceiling in shower covered in mould. Lift only for services so had to carry luggage 3 flights, OK for tough guys but not so good for ageing ladies travelling alone. If hostel was upgraded, smartend up and cleaned it would be a great asset to everyone. At least booking guests on same floor as toilet would be a start.. Cracked windows at front entrance not a good look.

Review 120:The Hostel was opposite tube which was very convenient and probably it's only redeeming feature.

Review 121:for a SINGLE ROOM with a broken bunk bed, one sheet, no blankets, no TV no tea coffee in room, no carpets, walls broken, windows rusted,Toilets filty, shared facilities nosiy and smelly, Shwoers deep in the bottom of the cellars, if you are the top floor, you have to walk naked or half dressed down through the public stairways, Lifts do not work, and blocked by dirty laundry and all this for 44 pounds per night! DON'T RISK IT For Three nights it was Torture!

Review 122:Opposite Northfields Tube

Review 123:No elevator; Frequent noise of trains passing by (esp. late in the night)

Review 124:Very helpful and welcoming staff; clean mattress sheet; fridge in the room; perfect location (right across the road opp. the tube station, easy to get to Richmond, Heathrow and Windsor, etc.)

Review 125:Cash only at reception. Pretty unclean. my duvet had blood on it, as did the walls. There was no towel, I had to pay for that. Communcal shower also dirty, had to wade through pools of water to get there.

Review 126:Service was friendly enough. Wireless got there in the end, but poor signal really.

Review 127:Unclean tiolets, showers, quilts, hallway smells of food, curtains did not cover the full windows so lots of lights came in, Although its the cheapest hostle, i think its expensive in terms of value for money

Review 128:Price and location just next to an underground station

Review 129:The price quoted online is not what we were charged, the hotel charged an extra £8 to pay by card. This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and should not be welcome on a site like Booking.com

Review 130:My room was full, so when we heard a key enter the lock, we all woke up and watched the door. A male opened it and just starred blankly at us. After stating this is a female dorm, he looked at his key and us, and then closed the door. Scary and unnerving. The showers were situated at the basement only, no signs to indicate this. Toilets for each gender on different floors. Awkward for night time toilet trips. The service at the reception was lacking, he gave no information on where any of the facilities were. On exit, I notified the reception of the intruder. He looked shocked, but didn't apologize or reassure me what he will do, now knowing this information I imparted. Its a real shame because the location of the hostel was great, opposite the tube and frequent buses. The rooms were clean and the communal kitchen looked in good condition too. The service and lack of security really let down what could of been a great stay.

Review 131:The beds were firm andnI slept well, despite the squeeks the bed made.

Review 132:filthy bedclothes, filthy floor, rubbish bin full of last occupants trash, including sanitary items! very poor standard of old bed, very poor bedclothes and pillows, holes in walls, lock on door insecure which meant taking valuables out with me every time, extremely noisy position. There were stains, which could have been vomit down the walls, no exaggeration, this room had not been cleaned for months.

Review 133:there was nothing at all good about this place, extremely poor, I would advise to steer well clear of this

Review 134:You never can see or guess that is an hostel, bad rooms, bad toilets, bad showers, everything is old and ugly. "It's cheap" but at the end u discover is expensive. I hate this hostal, I never going to return.

Review 135:The personal is good and the kitchen and is infront of metro station.

Review 136:I did not like being charged a surcharge for paying by Visa...particularly when there was no notification of such. It was the first time I had been surcharged while travelling for 2 months through Uk and USA! In such ahostel ablution areas need to be cleaned far more often. The rooms are definitely not as fresh and clean looking as the picture!

Review 137:The location and price are very good makingLondon very affordable.

Review 138:the showers were a disaster, the bedroom overlooks the rail station with trains every 3 mins and the window not good enough to block out the racket

Review 139:staff were great, location great, but shame about the noise from trains every three minutes 24 7
