Reviews for Village Hotel Farnborough
Review 1:The bed wasn't the best as it was 2 beds joined together, didn't sleep very well
Review 2:Great breakfast, other hotels let them selfs down by using cheap products-not this hotel can definitely recommend this hotel and its eating facility's
Review 3:The bathroom was freezing, the shower was a rain shower and no shower cap was provided. The room was very cold as the AC was on which was odd for January, But with out it the room was too hot, Not enough Channels on the Tv, The restaurant was very expensive, for the evening meal.
Review 4:The room was nice, the hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfy, brilliant sized TV. The breakfast was excellent value for money, the food was lovely and a good choice on offer with both continental and full English on offer, various pastries and breads as well as a good choice of fruit juice.
Review 5:I had a room with an adjoining door and the noise (mobile phone calls) from my immediate neighbour was annoying
Review 6:Great location for my business trip and lovely staff, with good food.
Review 7:Let down by bed, both of us suffered back ache the next day. It was like the bed was trying to tip you out! Otherwise score would have been top marks
Review 8:Excellent hotel and decor is great
Review 9:We knew we didn't have breakfast included in our package, and was very disappointed when we was told if we wanted to use the facilities eg swimming pool gym jacuzzi sauna, there would be an extra charge for this, we wasn't expecting this because when we stopped last year all the facilities was included in the price.
Review 10:Only a couple of niggles really: Signage of the hotel not great, shower in our room leaked a lot of water onto bathroom floor from under the shower door and dripped randomly in middle of night waking us up and room was really quite dusty when we arrived but this may be due to it not being used for a few days possibly as we did notice when the lights were on that a lot of dust particles were flying about
Review 11:All staff from the receptionist, bar staff to the cleaner very pleasant and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was 1st class and the fact that it was included in the room rate made it outstanding value.
Review 12:There was nothing I didn't like about the stay.
Review 13:The friendliness of staff on arrival and on checking out. The beds were really comfy I had a great nights sleep. The variety of food you had a breakfast was the best I have seen.
Review 14:This is essentially a party venue with hotel rooms for party goers to stay in. It can be noisy during the evening (although live music finished at a reasonable hour) and our sleep was disturbed by people returning noisily to their rooms in the early hours of the morning.
Review 15:Staff were friendly and extremely helpful and the facilities are excellent.
Review 16:We booked a twin room, not available when we arrived, given a double bed not accepted by us Had to have a room for a disabled person to get twin beds. found filthy glasses in the bathroom obviously used by a previous occupant. Made a complaint about this and glasses exchanged. Pillows not comfortable. Not a good experience. We have stayed there before and enjoyed it so not amused this time!!!
Review 17:Lovely staff good restaurant, for us an excellent location.
Review 18:The only thing I would criticise is the shower as it wasn't fully working and water spurted off in different directions due to a clogged shower head.
Review 19:The appearance of the hotel was very nice. Large spacious room with comfy bed and all facilities you would need.
Review 20:NOT ENOUGH BAR AND RECEPTION STAFF BY FAR. I felt bad watching what staff they did have struggle on their own. Dark rooms.
Review 21:Comfortable relaxed environment! Friendly, polite staff.
Review 22:Don't book room 119. Sold as a family room yet right above main entrance. Noisy, people constantly outside under the windows smoking even though not a designated smoking area. Stuffy room, rubbish air conditioning and couldn't open windows or room would be filled with smoke from under the windows. Noise until 2am. Staff said it was inevitable as Christmas parties yet in the morning there were all the smokers again! Room had poor lighting and was very dark.
Review 23:Very comfy beds. Leisure facilities excellent.
Review 24:No real dislikes. The in-room TV had a limited channel choice, okay if a sports fan. The on-site coffee franchise closed fairly early in the evening and the on-site pub does not provide hot drinks. It meant going to the Restaurant to just to get a hot drink.
Review 25:It was a one night stay in a comfortable room. Included full breakfast was good. Did not have any other meals there. Staff friendly and helpful. A busy hotel but experienced no delays
Review 26:Room was quite cosy with 2 adults and 2 kids, but then we were paying for the smaller option.
Review 27:Easy, just what we needed. Great place hotel for families, lovely breakfast and accommodating staff in the bar/grill. Was the staff Xmas party but they were all still very helpful. Room set-up with two little beds for kids was just right. Thank you.
Review 28:The room a hapless result of form over function. Ineffective lighting. Unwittingly selected "family room" so two extra mattresses , one blocking wardrobe, other access to the main bed. Leaking bathroom. Restaurant closed to guests for "event" that was not notified by Booking.com. Bar rammed with partygoers so forced to resort to, luke warm, room service meal. Wrong drink delivered! Charmless female on reception who appeared to believe that the Hotel is at the Centre of the Universe and I should know how busy and lacking in amenities it would be at this time of the year. Bass noise from the "event" heard until early hours. Left early, not prepared to wait and sample the breakfast that I booked.
Review 29:Nothing.
Review 30:The on-site nightclub made for a very noisy lobby in the evenings.
Review 31:Loved the Full-service gym with lap pool, on-site restaurants and Starbucks. The room was very nice
Review 32:the iron we had in our room was dirghty and stained my boyfrineds shirt,
Review 33:Had a lovely staty, very morden spacus and frindely staff lovely hotel, the spa was really good we really enjoyed our stay.
Review 34:Jacuzzi wasn't working when we stayed was looking forward to that. Breakfast could have finished a little later on the weekend for those who had a late night or parties there.
Review 35:Staff were really nice. Building was nice and facilities. Breakfast was good and staff very accommodating.
Review 36:Room was cold - no instructions on how to operate heating/air conditioning. Windows were very draughty. Extractor not working in the bathroom (reported) so floor became very wet with condensation. Impressive shower head but needed de-scaling
Review 37:Rooms have been refurbished since my last stay. Nice comfortable bed in a good sized room. Friendly staff. Good choice for breakfast. Good value for price paid
Review 38:Room too small for a family. Room is quite dark not enough lighting and not clean. Reception not informative.
Review 39:good facilities and good breakfast with the good selections.
Review 40:The lunch on Sunday was not quite up to standard / Vegetables poor.
Review 41:The use of the pool. But some parents did abuse the use of the pool by throwing their children in the water, its dangerous and should be stopped, Both on sat & Sun morning
Review 42:One negative thing and it is only one, did not matter how many lights you put on the room is still very very dark
Review 43:Fantastic experience, staff were excellent on my birthdays weekend, got a card and nibbles in my room.
Review 44:Some lights in the room did not work. Room was smaller than some holiday inn/travelodge rooms. No bathtub in the ensuite bathroom. No biscuits with the tea facilities in the room. No options for decaff tea in the room (caffeine makes me go mental)
Review 45:Staff were all friendly. Velocity Spa and Pool were good but busy with people from the gym and families with young children. Room was clean. Breakfast was really good.
Review 46:Only 2 pillows in bed, shower water pressure could have been better, room was rather dingy
Review 47:Pub was nice, open late, staff were very friendly, the bed was extremely comfortable
Review 48:that your offers of sleep and dine Friday's are never available I have tried to book a deal every time you send me an email but never anything available which is disappointing
Review 49:Loved the hotel
Review 50:Lighting too low in bedroom
Review 51:Nice bright bathroom with everything provided, comfy bed, tea/coffee making facilities, Iron and ironing board, hairdryer, TV. Very good breakfast.
Review 52:45 minute check in because staff member on reception told me that she was within the first 2 hours of employment and was not trained, that resulted in the electronic room key not working 2 trips up and down to the 4th floor and the process took about an hour to sort out, very noisy the hotel seemed to be secondary to the gym and public bar, car parking full most of the time with people visiting the bar and gym, a heavy glass panel collapsed which took 12 hours to fix, TV did not work, 35 minute check out because the bill was wrong trying to charge over £200 more than they should. The bill from the restaurant had been altered by the hotel to include Gratuities which were not agreed to. I will never use this hotel again.
Review 53:The food in the restaurant was good and the service was OK.
Review 54:Nothing
Review 55:My TV had a problem, a lovely lady came within a minute of my calling reception. Check in was a pleasurable experience, even though the lady was training she was fabulous, swift very friendly. Room was luxurious and clean
Review 56:A very unhappy stay, due to: - dirty marks on one of the hand towels and what appeared to be skid marks on a pillowcase. - terrible aged/stained surface on the toilet seat & cracked lid. - the thinnest pillows I've seen outside of a baby's crib and NO spares. (SERIOUSLY uncomfortable). - the back and a battery missing from the TV remote, so we couldn't watch it at all, not even to block morning toilet noises.
Review 57:The room is very stylishly presented, but impractical when you have a louvered window from the bathroom into the bedroom, meaning one person can't go to the toilet in the middle of the night without waking the other. Great shower (2 heads) but no instructions for something quite complicated - in the shower and basin. There are excellent food and exercise facilities if you have time for them (although I think you have to pay to use the gym?) The weekend self-serve cooked breakfast was good, but confusing - staff weren't much help.
Review 58:My room was directly over the bar which I don't think would usually be a problem but on this occasion there was a live band playing and it was very loud in the room until they stopped at 11pm. The reception claimed they were full and I couldn't be moved and seemed quite unsympathetic! Another minor point... Reception/interference on the TV was very poor.
Review 59:Lovely room decor, very clean and modern. Big comfortable bed. Very good gym and spa facilities (at extra cost) and a good restraint and bar in the building.
Review 60:The TV's need more channels and better reception, it's quite snowy.
Review 61:The hotel is very comfortable and feels very fancy, despite the budget price. Our children and dogs are always so welcomed, this was our second visit and we'll be back soon. The staff is superb; Laura the manager is incredibly savvy and smart and efficient. Hannah at the front desk always has a smile, even at the end of a very long shift! I was most impressed on this most recent occasion with the Chop House Manager Rohit Bhasin who kept the restaurant staff attentive and running efficiently, even with a very full restaurant every customer was still happy. It was impressive to observe. What a great team this hotel has. The management must be very proud.
Review 62:Not enough sound insulation in the walls, children in a room by them selfs next door to us screaming and slamming doors through the night.
Review 63:Rooms and facilities very modern and very comfy. Everything under one roof which was great.
Review 64:Tricky to find entrance. Bar service was atrocious. Not a clue. I spoke to duty manager, but he basically shrugged his shoulders. My wife even came looking for me thinking I'd been kidnapped.
Review 65:Noise till 12 pm with a wedding event but did get compensated with discount on room.
Review 66:Lovely staff and facilities. Breakfast was nice too lots of variety.
Review 67:Repeatedly had to request a second towel and extra pillow as the room only seemed to be supplied for single occupancy.
Review 68:Great location, great breakfast.
Review 69:The staff were superb. The bar had. Good choice of drinks and food showed all major sporting events. You have use of the swimming pool and gym if you so wish would go back there in a heartbeat.
Review 70:There aren't enough TV channels on the whole and my kids were unhappy there were no child tv channel options at all. More channels, or an HDMI inlet would have made all the difference.
Review 71:The management are incredibly helpful and cheerful. At the front desk, 'Laura' as one of the best front-desk girls I have ever experienced in a hotel. She is smart, accommodating, very knowledgeable and thoughtful. She alone made our stay incredible, and we've already booked to come back in a few weeks time. This hotel feels like a boutique hotel--but on a sensible budget. The pool is beautiful and relaxing. I was also very impressed with the bar and with breakfast; the food was very fresh and the chef even accommodated hollandaise sauce for me! The staff on the whole couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. They were also very friendly with our two children and two dogs. We simply loved the experience.
Review 72:Dinner was expensive, so had to drive out to a local restaurant.
Review 73:Thank you Laura receptionist for your warm welcome and the extra mile you went with my kids ;-) Great for money and excellent for the family, spa facilities were such a bonus. My kids loved the room, breakfast and pool. Perfect for stressed out mums.
Review 74:I felt that there could have been 2 extra pillows in the room .
Review 75:The location was ideal for our visit although there was a party going on we didn't hear anything. The morning we left the staff was very pleasant, the breakfast was very good and plenty .
Review 76:Only 2 tea bags. Only ONE pillow. Room needed a little more dusting, and floor in bathroom needed extra cleaning. BOTH bedside lights NOT working.
Review 77:Comfortable bed. Polite staff on Reception, and at breakfast. Good breakfast.
Review 78:i didnt like the bed i didnt like the price and only had one pilliow so was really uncomfortable and the bed was really bad i woke up with pain in my neck and shoulder
Review 79:i liked the look of the hotel i like it was clean
Review 80:Only downside to my stay was the toilet seat was a off colour and looked like it needs changing (room 210)
Review 81:Staff and helpful and very nice. Would stay there again.
Review 82:drink prices, receptionist on checking in - she wasn't very welcoming or very engaging at all, just wanted to tell us times of dinner and breakfast and that was it
Review 83:Room was comfy, i slept well. We came for Mr & Mrs Perkins wedding, wedding breakfast meal was very nice as well as the buffet food
Review 84:A little dark in the rooms, sticky tables in the bar on both nights, dust on the bedside tables, poor picture on the TV
Review 85:staff very friendly & helpful
Review 86:Double bed - a king a king or queen would have nice in an upgraded room. Light bulb over sink was out Bed 'slid' on floor when you leaned on it
Review 87:Breakfast was good
Review 88:just found the bed was a little firm so not the best nights sleep but that's a personal preference. great breakfast and couldn't fault the staff in any way. quite a nice place to stay - only thing is that we had a standard room and the tv channels are bit limited as no free view. I understand if we had taken an upper deck room, the rooms are much nicer with better tv channels. For an extra £20 per night, might have been worth doing that.
Review 89:liked the hotel overall - wakin shower was nice and room decor good
Review 90:Great place to stay after a day at Legoland, further than some other hotels in the area but in the right direction to avoid heavy end of the day traffic. The hotel was very 'grown up' but our kids were very welcome. We loved the pool which has set time for kids so we didn't feel bad about noise or goofing around...
Review 91:My pillow was very thin, I know this is a personal choice thing but did have neck ache the following morning. Next time I would ask for an additional pillow.
Review 92:Modern hotel with good amenities. Very quiet room, well appointed. Breakfast was very good too
Review 93:The toilet in the bathroom was very clean however was badly yellow stained around the seat. Not nice to look at!
Review 94:Room very stylish and comfortable. Pool and hot tub nice. Great to have a Starbucks on site.
Review 95:More pillows please, even a Travelodge give you 4 billows on a double bed. Room service would not answer the phone.
Review 96:Clean, excellently appointed, good meals.
Review 97:The breakfast was atrocious. And we had a window that went to the front of the building. The window has to stay closed because the noise from the pub was loud.
Review 98:The pool was nice.
Review 99:On two occasions we could not get in the room because the key would not work. On two different days we had to request towels because they only gave us one towel.
Review 100:Service was good several issues arose during our stay but were taken care of when we told them about the problems.
Review 101:Pull out beds for children weren't very comfy, the view from the room was a multi storey car park
Review 102:Lots of facilities on site, good food and bar options
Review 103:We had a great stay no complaints
Review 104:Great location and room rate. Had to request towels for second guest in room minor issue. Rooms are well equipped just very dark
Review 105:Light bulbs needed replacing room 329 and in shower area.Door key needed re-setting every day!could have had better pillows.
Review 106:Everyone in the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. Facilities good.Fantastic value through Booking.com
Review 107:Only two pillows and the mattress was firm, fine for some, but too firm for me.
Review 108:Stylish decor, friendly staff, the pool and efficient steam room in the morning.
Review 109:Noise outside to well past 2am, these were hotel guests drunk and no effort by staff to quieten the drunks outside in favour of the rest of the hotel guests trying to get some sleep. 2am is way past understandable
Review 110:Staff worked hard to ensure happiness of guests. Rooms were nice and clean, beds were uncomfortable I was in a disabled room bed was not good.
Review 111:I booked a family room, but it was just a Double room with 2 extra beds in, which made it very cramped for myself and my 3 children. one of the children's beds was placed in front of the wardrobe which meant I couldn't access it without keep pulling the bed out of the way. Also, there was a kettle provided but nowhere to make the tea apart from a high shelf (and no biscuits ;-(. And no spare pillows provided, however, when I called reception to ask for one it appeared at the door within minutes. Family changing room at the pool felt a little tired.
Review 112:Apart from these minor gripes, we really enjoyed our stay and felt safe and comfortable. Staff and facilities were brilliant.
Review 113:Nothing!!
Review 114:The useful location, although hotel was quite busy with families and dogs they didn't encrouch on the peacefulness and relaxed atmosphere we experienced whilst staying at the Village. Would definitely book again
Review 115:The only problem with the stay was the cleanliness of the room. There was dust on higher levels and on the blinds. The toilet seat was stained and could do with replacing. There was a light bulb out over near the door also.
Review 116:Loved the hotel, lied the staff & loved the food! Will Definatly be retuning.
Review 117:Dirty carpet in lift - simply required a regular vacuum!! View from rooms of multi-storey car park. VERY noisy air conditioning system, which woke us up at 3am, & no information provided in room about being able to turn it off, although apparently one could have. Bathroom could have been cleaner (eg back of door was dirty) and one of our rooms had a crack in the toilet seat lid. Taps and shower difficult to operate and a monsoon shower does not work well over a bath!
Review 118:Comfortable bed, but could have done with more, or fuller, pillows. English Breakfast.
Review 119:Room was dusty. Not sufficient storage space. Inadequate lighting in the room. No power outlet near hot beverage setup.
Review 120:As a relatively new hotel, everything looked new and there was no wear and tear. The staff were friendly. There was an iron and ironing board.
Review 121:There's a Starbucks on site but this closes early making it difficult to get a nice coffee in the evening. Beds are quite hard and we had to ask for extra pillows as only one per person supplied.
Review 122:Friendly staff were really helpful. Rooms clean and breakfast excellent value with hot dishes replaced regularly.
Review 123:The room had not been cleaned properly in sometime. There was an old sock which had a deep layer of dust in the corner and a small girls pjs under the bed which again had clearly been there a long time. We booked this hotel for kids to use swimming pool but times available for kids meant they could not get access given our itinerary. This was raised specifically at time of booking but restricted times not raised by booking staff and upon check-in was clear receptionist did not know of restriction resulting in presentation at pool and massive disappointment of refusal.
Review 124:Breakfast was excellent. The room style was very good and shower great. One member of staff who seemed to be a domestic was excellent in trying to overcome a problem.
Review 125:Very dark everywhere, so dark we could not read the digits on air con. Guests are told at check in that breakfast was from 0730-1030. On Monday in was only until 0930 and several guests were embarassed when they came in after 0930. Long queue for toast machine.
Review 126:Location, gym, starbucks, contemporary design.
Review 127:We were put in a room that was recently painted, so recently the gloss paint had not dried. The smell was far too strong for anyone to stay, Let alone sleep. I Was disappointed this room was even let out. I Went down to reception to see if we could possibly change rooms, After a long wait we finally were given another room. ( and 2 complimentary small drinks from costa). This should never happen in a hotel, even the lady working there was shocked it was let out due to the smell.
Review 128:Clean, modern and the breakfast was good.
Review 129:Very friendly staff in all areas nothing was too much for them Two young grandchildren very tired . Food ordered in the bar and staff delivered it to our room How good is that!! Thank you
Review 130:standard room was dark and dingy as half the light fittings were out of order. TV service is old and difficult to use. Stray long hairs (clearly not from my baldy head) in bathroom. The Pillows were very poor. After one night the room key became dysfunctional and after half a dozen trips to reception they stated we would have to move.
Review 131:Enjoyed the leisure facilities, great breakfast, extensive free parking, and good bar food. We were upgraded to upper class, the room was large, bright, clean, with Sky TV and was presented to a high standard. It seems like you get what you pay for!!!
Review 132:A disgustingly smelly bin and a few bulbs not working, only 1 pillow on the bed.
Review 133:The staff and facilities were very good. After bringing a problem to the attention of staff, we were upgraded instantly and looked after well.
Review 134:only hotel we have stayed in that does not provide water or tissues. When queried next day we were told if we upgrade for 30 pounds more we can have them.
Review 135:facilities especially as we were a party of 7 for dinner etc.
Review 136:Children were all over excited, but had a brilliant time in the pool then having a meal and doing their hair ready for their competition the next day,a good stay was had by all. Thanks
Review 137:Hotel too hot, air conditioning too noisy and overall quality of hotel and staff has gone down in the last few years. Arrived in room to find another guest in the bathroom already in it.
Review 138:Comfortable beds and location
Review 139:Room was slightly on the small side.
Review 140:Good location near to Farnborough. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The price we paid provided excellent value for money.
Review 141:Nothing major just felt a little rushed to finish breakfast. As we had a late night at the tribute night we were down at 10. And moved on by staff from dinning room to clean up
Review 142:Fun night good sleep and good breakfast.
Review 143:Even after requested breakfast to be ready to take away early in the morning twice before bed. It still wasn't ready when we came down. But it was very nice when we did get it :)
Review 144:Lovely hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer.
