Reviews for Dunchurch Park Hotel

Review 1:Had no record of our booking. cold room. Window cleaner woke us at 8am on a Sunday. Bouncers to Let us into the bar at night. Had to answer questions to prove we were residents. Bar staff rude to my husband and son. I could go on!!!

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:We visited on 23rd December and stayed overnight. There was limited staff and limited food available for an evening meal.

Review 4:Good location and reasonably priced

Review 5:We had 3 rooms and unfortunately someone had been smoking in one of the rooms. We did inform reception.

Review 6:We were a family group. Rooms were good with comfortable beds. Very quiet. Reception staff excellent also other staff friendly and helpful.

Review 7:Room only marginally bigger than the bed which was crammed against the wall. Desk too small to work at. Gap between bed and desk too small to comfortably accommodate the chair. Nowhere to hang my coat. Asked for a different room - request refused as apparently fully booked (despite appearance to the contrary). The metaphorical cat wouldn't have stood a chance. No fan available for stiflingly hot room (minuscule window). Departed in sad frustration.

Review 8:Didn't stay more than half an hour so cannot comment. Still had to pay of course! Public areas looked good; sadly let down by the allocated bedroom.

Review 9:I was in an annexe in something of the quality of premier inn but at dunchurch hall prices. Minimal furniture,no easy chair, no hairdryer. No hot water in shower at 7am, no heating in bathroom. Noisy, could hear everything from next door. Would not use again.

Review 10:It was in the right place

Review 11:The bed was not comfortable We had continental breakfast but some items had run out and was not replaced

Review 12:The offer of tea coffee as we were early The staff

Review 13:The room was small and in a poor state. I expected more considering what I paid. I am booked in again on the 5th November...perhaps I was just unlucky!

Review 14:Did not have my booking at reception so had to wait 10 mins whilst it was sorted out - embarrassed as you can imagine. The hotel looked fantastic on the web page ..... but..... Bed was very uncomfortable (hard), decor was poor, bath panel hanging off, cracked sink, leaking taps and shower, worn carpet, paint splashes on tiles, bathroom gloomy & very poorly lit to shave in. Should I have complained …. Yes I should of done, but I did not want the hassle of changing rooms, when all I wanted to do was leave! Food - steak was excellent but accompanying chips were terrible and full of fat, breakfast was OK. Will I be staying again? I dont think so.

Review 15:The location was perfect for my requirements. The hotel looked fantastic on the web page.

Review 16:I found the duty manager rude and unhelpful. I telephoned him twice from the phone left out at reception for this purpose. I needed a drink - any drink, after 11pm following an agreed late check in and long journey. This was refused, he was also unable to tell me the nearest place I could buy some refreshment.

Review 17:I liked the hospitality and friendliness shown by the young night porter and the young waitress at breakfast, they were the only staff I met during my stay who had an interest in customer care. The setting and building is attractive.

Review 18:On checkin staff were very disorganised. On checkout staff did not listen to my request as to currency to pay account. Ended up costing me over 10% more. Took two phone calls and a couple of emails to get accounts to sort this out.

Review 19:More of a conference facility than a hotel. Breakfast room was sprawling and in need of a refurb. We stayed in an annexe, not the main hotel. The shower was next to useless.

Review 20:Helpful staff. Clean room.

Review 21:Room was really hot at night even though radiator was off. Room much too small considering the cost, restricted hanging space and no hair dryer. Not ideal for wedding guests, which many guests are at this venue. Didn't experience breakfast as the dining room didn't appeal and staff were unable to say in advance where breakfast would be served the next morning.

Review 22:Good location in a nice village. Plenty of local pubs and restaurants. Just as well as the hotel restaurant didn't appeal to us.

Review 23:Hotel walls much too thin - quiet until fellow guests snore or move about Room (Double) much, much too small - only just room to squeeze past the bed! Buffet breakfast fine but only luke warm Bed lovely and firm but pillows collapse

Review 24:Staff were good, just close enough for the NEC and Leamington, quiet location, but close to motorways/ main road Grounds quite attractive and well maintained Nice village with a couple of good pubs

Review 25:There was very few staff on duty.. Busy bar.. Wine choice not available.. ( only half a glass) Room was cold... Struggled to turn radiator on. Complimentary tea & coffee in the room - milk was off. Room service not available due the room being too far away! Very limited menu Due to the nature of my business I travel up & down the country... Stayed in better B&B's

Review 26:Checking out!

Review 27:Someone was in my room by mistake when I arrived he got the wrong room and the key worked for the door he left when I get there I tried to report to reception but was no answer and no one was on reception in the morning and I didn't have time to hang around waiting

Review 28:Free wifi very good easy to use

Review 29:I wasn't permitted to use a wedding discount code on my booking so had to pay full price. Even though I had selected bed and breakfast I also had to pay additional costs for food in the morning be because of an 'error'.

Review 30:Awful accommodation. We were told all the rooms in the old 1960s building were refurbished. Expecting to see the nice modern room featured on their website we were met with old furniture that was worn and tired, dirty bottom sheets, not impressed at all. It had been given a basic paint job and some of the room carpets were replaced, that's all. The standard of the room and the gym are old, worn and tired not worth the money. The modern refurbished suit is the bridal suit so please don't be fooled. Friends who live in Ruby confirmed the rooms are not pleasant accommodation.

Review 31:The surrounding grounds have amazing views really impressed with the outside.

Review 32:The room was very cold, the TV signal was terrible

Review 33:The staff were friendly and helpful. Good tea and coffee facilities and toiletries in the room. Wifi easy to connect to.

Review 34:Sat night was v warm yet the heating was on - the room was way too warm. Basically it is not a normal hotel. It is an old training centre. We stayed in a block outside the main part of the hotel. The whole place feels very tired and dated.

Review 35:Friendly receptionist.

Review 36:The fire alarm was set off three times in the morning. Waking us and causing distruption. Also we paid for an executive double room. The room we stayed in did not reflect an executive double in size or facility. It's hard to imagine how a standard double could be any smaller or more basic than the room we stayed in.

Review 37:did not have a bad experience...the short stay we had was sufficient for our needs at the time, we have only stayed twice on 2 separate occasions but would consider staying there for a week! but! the b'fast was not as good as last time....to cold for 'self service!!!! and we got up early!!!!

Review 38:the location and the grounds are cared for......the staff were welcoming and helpful

Review 39:There was nothing that we didn't like. Room was sufficient for our needs and very comfortable. Grounds were beautiful and lovely to walk around.

Review 40:Staff friendly and welcoming. Room was great and grounds amazing

Review 41:a wedding party caused too much noise late at night with doors slamming our room was located under a stair way so people from the wedding party weren't very considerate at 3 in the morning -we complained and had money taken off the bill

Review 42:the location was very niced

Review 43:The only minus was the cost of the breakfast which I declined due to it being expensive for what it actually is.

Review 44:I like this Hotel, it was my second visit here. The staff were helpful and courteous as before. The overall comfort is to a very good standard.

Review 45:Very dated, stains on carpet. The bathroom needs painting as there are a lot of stains on the celing. Silicone around bath also needs doing. Attention to detail is not there.

Review 46:Set in lovely grounds. Nice room & bathroom albeit quite small.

Review 47:Staff (restaurant excellent) were somewhat aloof. Wi-Fi didn't work in room. No hairdryer

Review 48:The hotel has very poor sound insulation, so we could hear every move made by whoever was above us. It is also spread out over a number of buildings, or so it seemed, which made it a bit confusing at the time we arrived (around midnight)

Review 49:Good sized bathroom

Review 50:from the website dunchurch park looks a fabulous hotel in a fabulous location. unfortunately what they don't say is that it is an old training college with rooms you might expect in a boarding school.

Review 51:really nothing at all!

Review 52:Careful of the non steam Irons in the room as a previous occupant had obviously used it inappropriately and it destroyed my shirt.

Review 53:Neat, tidy and lovely setting. Within walking distance of the town centre so great for a one night stop over.

Review 54:It is very misleading - the pictures show a beautiful Manor House and although the booking says you will be staying in a Victorian outbuilding - when you arrive it feels like you've been given the short straw as you actually stay in what I can only compare to an old council block. The room was tiny, no air con and on a very hot day this was unbearable. For £95 would not stay here again unfortunately and I am not usually one to leave a bad review.

Review 55:The grounds are beautiful, the area is lovely and a good amount of restaurants.

Review 56:Dinner was poor and over priced. Only one chair, although second provided on request. Room too small for a double bed. TV broken and not fixed even though reported. star accommodatio

Review 57:Grounds were good

Review 58:Most of the experience. Overpriced for poor accommodation and bad attitude from front desk staff. A perfect example of how overpriced and poor UK mid range hotels can be. We need to get a grip.

Review 59:Lovely gardens at rear of main house

Review 60:Hotel was geared up for conferences and weddings and individual parties are not catered for. There was no lounge for us to sit in and chat, the bar was too noisy on one night and empty the second. Staff came and went catering for wedding parties on both days and we were essentially ignored. The pictures of the hotel mislead. The hotel is nice but the bedrooms were in a modern block that was no better than a Travel Lodge so the price was very high for basic bedrooms with no breakfast.

Review 61:Convenience of location to meet up with friends and family.

Review 62:The general atmosphere was uncomfortable because we were not part of the wedding. Staff did not make us feel welcome and we not attentive to our needs.

Review 63:The location was ideal for our trip.

Review 64:The bed was a little firm and small for us.

Review 65:Booked a last minute stay for an overnight and got a great rate. Chose the room only rate so can't comment on the quality of the breakfast. Even though we only spent a few hours at the hotel the staff were knowledgeable, courteous and engaging.

Review 66:Accomodation is really quite poor, old and shabby and quite cramped.

Review 67:Restaurant and bar area is good with wifi and tv, food very good also. Staff were great.

Review 68:We were at the top of the stairs in the coach house so could hear everything going on the following morning

Review 69:Although we didn't stay in the main building, we took a few walks around their stunning grounds.

Review 70:Lack of sleep, I think this was due to the fact that there was a funeral party and a wedding party in at the same time, there was constant banging of doors most of the night and a lot of noise coming from adjacent rooms. I also didn't like the idea that I had to leave the accommodation building to get to the bar/restaurant. On the subject of the bar/restaurant I would have preferred to have had a choice of where to eat as there was a lot of noise in the bar, firstly due to part of the funeral doing shots and making a lot of noise about it, then the wedding party invading my space when they arrived.

Review 71:The food was very good, although only one choice of dessert

Review 72:70's Rochford Court bedrooms Garden Rooms bar poorly staffed. Rubbish party food. Could have been a much better party if the event staff had a clue. Let event couple down.

Review 73:Nice location

Review 74:Photos are misleading. Rooms are in a barn conversion away from main house. Not much info about bar/food, couldn't find bar in the end. A little bit TLC here and there wouldn't go amiss.

Review 75:Set in a beautiful location and stunning peaceful grounds. Would stay again and definitely recommend.

Review 76:Staff dismissive not welcoming and the room was hard to find with stairs. High window no view, inadequate lighting and no easy chair to compensate for no Lounge facility

Review 77:Room was clean

Review 78:If I was pushed is that the reception was in a different building to my room, but this was only a minor point. Best check in first before taking your luggage from your car.

Review 79:The location close to the m69 was ideal for me. The accommodation is see in its own grounds and was perfect for a short run be bedding down.

Review 80:We booked this hotel through Booking, based on the facilities, on Booking it tells you that a Spa and Wellness centre is available. This isn't true. There is a gym and a beauty salon. Also, unless you read through, you will not be staying in the main house, you will be in a block at the side of the main house.

Review 81:The location close to the M1, and close to the town of Dunsford which is rather picturesque.

Review 82:No welcome. Room very small. Overall atmosphere. Poor gym. Noise from adjoining rooms. Little desk space. TV small and sound out of sync with picture.

Review 83:Wi-Fi. Room was warm.

Review 84:The only issue we had was that the bed was very firm, but this is a matter of personal choice.

Review 85:We loved the location. The hotel was great. Staff were kind and helpful. The room was warm and had everything we needed apart from a comfortable bed, but this is a matter of personal choice.

Review 86:Very thin walls and very loud extractor fans in rooms. You don't get to stay in the hotel that is pictured, you stay i a pre-fab building hidden out the way. Quite cheeky.

Review 87:Proximity to nearby Dun Cow Inn for excellent food. Gave me a ground floor room which I requested.

Review 88:Limited food menu and expensive breakfast. Room which was in seperate building was cold and walls were very thin so noisy at night.

Review 89:Nice location and lovely carvery at huntsman pub in Dunchurch village.

Review 90:The cost of the excellent food. I wish they had not had WiFi in the bedroom as it prevents me from sleeping. Maybe they need to consider having some WiFifree rooms. I am not alone in suffering with this problem.

Review 91:The food in the Bar The service in the Bar The service from Reception and Housekeeping

Review 92:I think the peace and quiet of this location is second to none I have stayed in a good few hotels and I would put this at the top of my list the young lady who was on reception was so pleasant and helpful at all times. I will definitely use thi hotel again in the future.

Review 93:Staff on reception did not take up my complaint "Oh" sorryroom was the coldest I have ever encountered traveling, sink wasblocked, my Ipad was bigger than the tv - too many locks to go throughto get to your room and very noisy rest, kitchen doors banging

Review 94:Location, food

Review 95:Cleaners were a little noisey on my level when i was still sleeping, but a minor point

Review 96:Very peaceful and good location, close to Rugby and good value for money. Would stay again

Review 97:The condensation on the windows was causing black mold which had not been treated. As an asthmatic this would have caused a problem had I stayed longer than 1 night.

Review 98:Bed was really comfy. Lots of lovely hot water in the lovely warm bathroom.

Review 99:Bedrooms need updating and are tiny. Walls are paper thin. Screws hanging out of bedroom wall, bath rusty, tile grout and walls dirty, extractor fan very very noisy. The bedroom was cold on arrival.

Review 100:Main house and bar were nice, the hotel is set in beautiful grounds.

Review 101:No breakfast No dinner No shower stool provided despite assurance that this request would be met. Booking was made for a disabled guest but staff quote: we don't really have any rooms for disabled guests Room was a considerable distance from main hotel Photo is totally misleading. Hotel is flat-roofed 60's style building and i never saw any sign of the building in the photo. Cold decor with no atmosphere. Unwelcoming. Reception staff could not even provide a local telephone directory when requested

Review 102:The location

Review 103:Reception staff, snotty, looked down her nose at me ( I was suited after coming from an interview!) no information given with out dragging it out of her. Key took forever to unlock/ lock the door. In a box room beside the stairs (thought my name had been changed to Potter!), paper thin walls, Double bed?! really- was tiny- we have never had such a problem. Room was cold Mould in the bathroom. A trickle from the shower! Ok so we got a good deal through booking.com- didn't expect to be treated like second class citizens because of it!

Review 104:The staff at the Christmas party were fantastic. the Marquee was very pleasant Enjoyed the Christmas party- brilliant set up, but oh dear

Review 105:1. No restaurant after 2130 despite barman and chef relaxing in front of television. 2. Abysmal directions to the rooms maze from reception. 3. Rooms overpoweringly smelled of Febreze or some other product. Room was not particularly clean. 4. Fire doors wedged open. 5. Dark, dark, dark... Not advisable to arrive after dark. 6. The photograph of a large grand house is misleading - that is not the hotel! 7. I couldn't wait to leave! Thank goodness it was just a one night booking!

Review 106:I would have prefered a hairdryer in the room although I had brought my own. You could request one but reception was in another building so a bit tricky if you had just come out of the shower!

Review 107:This was the first time that I've stayed at this hotel and I was very impressed. The location was good just off the A45, the room was pleasant and quiet and the limited facilites that I used were excellent. Well worth another stay.

Review 108:On arrival receptionist said time of arrival for room was 3 pm (it was 2.50) and would check with housekeeping if it was ready and was. In morning, told reception that bathroom radiator was dangerous as was only held by one bracket (other disengaged), one of two lights not working and hanging, door handle loose ((3 screws missing and other 3 nearly out),tile missing.Booking form showed £60 crossed out for . £80

Review 109:Not too far from crematorium in Rugby

Review 110:Staff communication was not great as although we were assured a late check out we were put under pressure to leave the room even with a poorly 2 year old as the room was required for a booking. However once we vacated the room we were subsequently told it wasn't booked.

Review 111:Mixed review but one particular male receptionist was extremely helpful and amenable.

Review 112:The noise of the person in the room below snoring - floor needs soundproofing. Had a very sleepless night Lack of bacon paid £12.50 for a breakfast with no bacon - told I'd have to wait 15 minutes. The staff should have kept an eye on the breakfast buffet to see what needed replacing before the last bit went. Bottled water in the room would have been nice - the tap water in the bathroom ran warm and I don't drink coffee/tea.

Review 113:The Venue The Grounds The Food (lunchtime buffett) The Staff

Review 114:The pictures shown give the impression that you are staying somewhere much nicer than where your rooms actually are (main house vs modern dormitory block). I took advantage of a discount, so the 1 night stay only cost £60 (which was acceptable) but I don't feel it would have been worth the full £90 rate, especially since breakfast is not included. The TV didn't work with the remote provided. The cold tap in the basin only dripped water, so was useless.

Review 115:The grounds were pleasant and the facilities were adequate.

Review 116:Nothing comes to mind.

Review 117:High quality room fittings, from the assortment of pillows to the thick sheets and bathroom fixtures., to the varied selection of teas. Clean, and very comfortable.

Review 118:Our original room was not clean and full of crane flies and spiders. There was damage to the building fabric and to the emergency exit door.

Review 119:The grounds of the hotel are superb but the hotel looked tired and in need of a good cleaning. After complaining about our original room we were offered a replacement room which was much better, but only available for 1 night.

Review 120:Wifi was poor - very intermittent. Tried 3 rooms before I found one that didn't just feel like a bed of springs Rooms are in a utilitarian like block (not the country house) - not remotely furnished to the standard of a hotel: carpets are very stained, threadbare in many places, everything is very tired - walls marked/scratched, holes behind doors etc, gym is akin to a 1930's school hall with some tired equipment in it. General poor standard of upkeep and services - no hairdryer in room so requested one. First one burnt out within 15 seconds, got another. Second one only had one setting that worked (the one that won't dry your hair this year) - summed up most things about this hotel. Beware if you stay whilst an event/party is on in the marquee - no matter how considerate the guests, there is no getting away from the fact a non-sound proofed marquee holding a party is situated less than 50m from the rooms. The above is really just the tip of the iceberg. Staff were polite but unable to deal with complaints. No member of management present during my 3 night stay. Despite lodging a sizable complaint, no-one has contacted me since my stay a month ago and I have not received any refund as promised.

Review 121:Location was fine and grounds were quite nice

Review 122:Bed was uncomfortable and not big enough for two mature adults to sleep side by side. The bedside table dug into my shoulder. No plug socket near bed for CPAP machine.

Review 123:Grounds were well maintained. Staff very helpful.

Review 124:When I arrived in my room there was no remote control for TV and the replacement they sent was the wrong one

Review 125:Good location, lovely grounds, quiet and relaxing. For a business traveller it is ideal and so much better than other 'chain' hotels.

Review 126:Poor sound insulation - kept awake by other guest's snoring and creaky floorboards from the room above! Hard beds Restaurant food overpriced and mediocre

Review 127:Clean rooms. Good wi-fi Nicely fitted bathrooms

Review 128:Looked like student accommodation. Overpowering smell of wet gloss in the room as the entire corridor had just been re-glossed. Mould in the bathroom and around the window. Bedroom had cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Menu choice very poor

Review 129:Location

Review 130:The rooms were in a anex similar to low cost housing or rather grim student accomadation. The room was full of cob webs, floors dirty , really in need of a refurb. We were given 8 keys to choose the cleanest it was apalling. I've never stayed in such grim accomadation. I stay in hotels 4 nights a week and it wasn't even cheap.

Review 131:The main hotel was beautiful ,the gardens and views were really stunning

Review 132:The double room offered was too small and cramped. I asked for a twin room and that was much better.

Review 133:It was peaceful and comfortable. A truly beautiful setting.

Review 134:The hotel advertises itself using a photo of a lovely old hall, the reality is that you are actually housed in dormitory like rooms. The rooms were barely clean and the bathrooms were poor and quite dirty.

Review 135:Our accommodation was in another building, rather shabby and bed not so comfortable 'tho very clean. The sound insulation is poor as we could hear ordinary talking and movement in the room above us as well as their bathroom extractor.

Review 136:Grounds...wonderful. Organisation of the wedding..really good. Food good with good service. Lovely main building.

Review 137:Travelling to Silverstone for the weekend my pal and I thought we would break the journey up by travelling the night before and staying somewhere within half hour of the circuit. Dunchurch proved to be excellent value for money and more than meet our needs. Would definitely recommend!

Review 138:The bedroom was far too small, not much space to move around, very clustered feeling, no air circulation in the room. Bathroom was in terrible state, insects and spider webs on windows. Appalling.

Review 139:The hotel is very nice, situated in a beautiful location, very nice and quite (when there isn't a wedding), breathtaking views.

Review 140:Beds are kind of uncomfortable. But ok for 1 night

Review 141:Stayed here for a overnight stop for a wedding at a different venue was ideal. Would recommend and would deffinetly stay again. Staff even gave us a really early check in with us traveling far and needing to fleshing up quickly for the ceremony. Really appreciated.
