Reviews for Lakeside International Hotel

Review 1:The aircon don't work in a number or rooms, four that I know of. You are provided with a convector heater. Not paying good money for a fan heater. Not good enough. Fixtures, fittings, carpets, paintwork all tired. Place looks like it's never had anything done to it since it was built.

Review 2:Gym

Review 3:There was a problem with the heating in our room. The staff gave us the opportunity to change rooms. Staff happy to help to ensure our comfort. The heating system needs updating.

Review 4:Good location. Staff very helpful.

Review 5:we had a very enjoyable nights stay , great view of lake from our room and also from my parents room , excellent evening meal with great service very friendly staff , also much closer to Pirbright , great breakfast set us up for the day at our daughters passing out parade .

Review 6:Although there was plenty of variety at breakfast the food was quite cold and also there was no fresh fruit available

Review 7:Hotel was very convenient for a show we was seeing

Review 8:The fact that an ivoice could not be raised in advance to make payment through the company. This would have been very helpful. This is obviously just a process issue. With regards to the stay none of our employees had any complaints, even the extremely fussy ones.

Review 9:The staff were very helpful on check-in, especially as there were issues with the company card for payment.

Review 10:I asked for breakfast in my room for 7 It arrived at 720, the toast was burnt and there was no spoon for the yoghart not what I would expect from a top hotel .

Review 11:The clean rooms , and lovely staff

Review 12:Clearly skimped on the refreshments etc. Only 2 sachets of coffee. Same with bathroom. No tissues. 1 tiny soap.No flannels.

Review 13:Very quiet room. Nice view. Good breakfast. Well heated room. Instant hot water. Good size bed.

Review 14:The kitchen seemed unwilling to accommodate my food intolerances and I ended up eating off site

Review 15:The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The rooms were large, clean an comfortable. Beautiful views of the lake.

Review 16:Cramped room, bed was uncomfortable, heating system noisy - radiator hissed all night. Breakfast ok, overall the place felt a little run down and I wouldn't choose to return. Despite advertising disabled access, this hotel offers very limited accessibility. Separate flat entrance way via buzzer and there appeared to be no adapted rooms. So the room I was allocated had a very narrow door to the bathroom, only just wide enough for a wheelchair, making the loo difficult to reach, and the bath impossible.

Review 17:Could not eat in restaurant or have room service on Saturday night due to a large function.paying guests had to suffer just because of function and staff did not seem bothered

Review 18:Room was warm

Review 19:The room heating didn't work. It would have helped if the staff understood English, as a result of them not understanding what I asked for I missed a business appointment.

Review 20:The location is fabulous. The hotel charges £120 per night, through Booking.com the charge was £89.

Review 21:Going in to the unlit corridor was not so good. It would have been better if the sensor was placed differently or was more sensitive.

Review 22:After a friendly greeting we went to a comfortable room. The breakfast was very good, in a pleasant, light airy room. The staff were very attentive.

Review 23:The menu could do with an overhaul, and the breakfast tastes a bit tinned and cheap (and greasy). The place it'self is dated, what with all the swags and tails. The aircon needs a service too as it's not very efficient.

Review 24:They have a decent pool etc and bar is OK. Bedrooms are OK and they provide tea and coffee facilities in the room. Rooms, bathrooms and all round the hotel is always spotless. The staff are always really assertive.

Review 25:Bath was a little small, shower head fixed at around 5ft high. Slightly dated decor in my room.

Review 26:Very comfortable bed, excellent breakfast and good facilities. Very well suited to business travellers.

Review 27:Booked taxi to take and bring us back from hotel reception and we had to find an ternative as he never arrived fortunately not too much of delay but inconvenient as we did not know the area.

Review 28:Smell of fresh flowers.

Review 29:No bad experiences, but breakfast was not that good, a bit cold - but given the overall price, perfection is aksing a bit much.

Review 30:Very quiet location, my room overlooked the lake. What I really liked was being able to open the windows at night and have no road or plant noise, unlike hotels nearer to Farnborough. Clean, comfortable - what more do you need for the money?

Review 31:The breakfast waitress appeared very brusque and although she did what was asked of her, she looked as though she served her patrons through gritted teeth.

Review 32:The manager ( an Italian gentleman ) was very friendly and attentive. An asset to a hotel which has very little else to recommend it.

Review 33:That the shower was still over the bath. Both of us found getting in quite hard. When we booked voth twin rooms looked like they had a walk in shower.

Review 34:The rooms were really clean and the beds very comfortable. A great view on to the lake. The breakfasts were brilliant. There was nothing you wanted for and staff asking if you would like more coffee/toast.

Review 35:The room was mostly clean apart from finding what appeared to be a piece of bread and a piece of? sausage on the carpet.

Review 36:Good value for money. Excellent breakfast

Review 37:I didn't like that there was a door in my room which was locked. It made me feel uncomfortable that someone could just walk in through the other side while I was sleeping. I raised this with the manager who assured me it was safe, no one would open the door. Apparently it was an in-between door for people booking co-joining rooms.

Review 38:It was very clean and comfortable. Staff and Manager were attentive. Free parking.

Review 39:Spa shut at 4 pm on Sunday. The steam room was broken and had been for a while. The sauna was also broken. The jacuzzi surround was dirty. No lockers in changing rooms.

Review 40:very friendly and helpful staff. Clean room but decor a bit faded. Breakfast.

Review 41:Staff were miserable. breakfast lady walked around looking so miserable no smiles! 20 off us came back at around midnight from my daughters wedding, were told we couldn't sit in the bar and turn lights on! Reception guy was very rude! Not a £100 a night hotel!

Review 42:Location and view room was excellent

Review 43:The staff I came into contact with were lacking in social skills and were not very accommodating when asked if our large party could sit in the already vacant area at breakfast - we would have preferred to have been together and more importantly - didn't want to disturb the other guests. Our plates were removed from the tables immediately or before we had finished eating and the lights were switched off by 9.30 on the dot - some of us were still finishing our breakfast - how rude was that ! The only suitable plug socket usable for boiling the kettle in our room was located on the floor.

Review 44:The beds were very comfortable and the room nice and clean with a good view of the lake.

Review 45:Got there Sunday night, no restaurant. Place was like a morgue. Asked for salad dressing and got given squeezy packs of cheap mayo. food delivered to room was cold. They told me breakfast was at 7, when I turned up at 7 they told me the chef had only just turned up so it would be at 8. I explained I had to go to work and could I at least have a decent cup of coffee and was told there was facilities in my room. I had to go to work with no breakfast and no coffee. When I checked in the told me my card would be authorisation only but they took a whole weeks money out and when I checked out that night the assistant manager just shrugged his shoulders at me. I had to wait 3 days to get my refund. It is a rubbish place with rubbish staff and I will never stay there again.

Review 46:location

Review 47:family room was dated, dark and in poor condition lights not working, mould around bath shower, broken bedside lights, broken sockets, shower handle broken, wardrobe and cupboards hanging off hinges, corridor leading too our room smelled constantly of Asian spices

Review 48:the service an food ( ie breakfast ) was excellent

Review 49:Shocking bed really uncomfortable Dreadful nights sleep. Food very average at dinner and breakfast just about acceptable

Review 50:Plenty of space -big hotel faded glory.

Review 51:No real bad experience - choice of breakfast a little limited

Review 52:Nice friendly, helpful staff. Location ideal for event we attended (Shadowmania) and on return jourmey from Southampton

Review 53:When I made the reservation, I made a specific requirement for a room with balcony or cancel reservation, they gave one without, I asked if they had or why they did not call to cancel my stay as this was a pre-requisite. They said it was optional to fulfil that section not requirement. Then i asked if they had a room with balcony, they said yes, so why all the grief?

Review 54:Nice rooms, peaceful

Review 55:Why, when the hotel was less than half-full, were we all allocated rooms overlooking the noisy car park instead of the quieter lake? Apparently a lake view costs an extra £30 a night, and it's not even a particularly attractive lake!

Review 56:The staff were all very friendly, professional and helpful.

Review 57:Steam room and jacuzzi wasn't working so a bit of a shame

Review 58:Excellent time there but as it was quiet season certain things just didn't exist. Like room service. Would have been nice if breakfast was a but later at the weekend as it was a shock getting up so early

Review 59:The steam room has not worked for several years. The jacuzzi was cold. the pool shuts at 4.30 on Saturday and Sunday. When booking it seemed as though the hotel was going to be full. However, we were the only people eating in the dining room. No manager on site at the weekend to make a complaint.

Review 60:The view from the bedroom.

Review 61:Why close five o clock swimming pool?i think the very best the night swimming!!!!!the solarium broken.why???

Review 62:I like the hot tub and sauna and the fitness room.

Review 63:Limited number of staff means not all facilities are available at same time

Review 64:We had a lovely view of the lake from our room and the room as very comfortable and tidy

Review 65:Hotel was vey tired, needs updating. Shower was pathetic, completely scaled up. Sink water barley drained away and when we reported it they said that they knew about it but couldn't fix it at present! Not good value for money...... Would rate travel lodge stay in Camberley much higher.

Review 66:Bed was comfortable

Review 67:Steam room has been out of order for some months as advised by a regular local user the hotel is missing a trick as with such a lovely lake, it would have been great to have some fishing time there, one of the reasons I booked the break Could have some entertainment, in the bar at weekends.

Review 68:location is very good and well appointed, Rome was good albeit tired looking

Review 69:the menu booklet for room service is completely out of date as they do not offer this service. Staff could have smiled and been more helpful.

Review 70:Cosy hotel and lovely lake

Review 71:The arrogant hotel manager who couldn't accept complaints needs to work upon his customer service. As we checked in we were advised of restaurant and bar opening times so we planned our evening around this. At 655 as we went to dress for dinner we were told the restaurant was shut although no one told us this earlier even though they knew. We ate bar menu with restaurant prices at a small table and were relieved of our plates whether we had finished or not. I didn't like being spoke. To like a child by the staff and would never stay here again even for free. Over priced in need of a handy man and a waste of good money as they didn't advise us of the pub within 10 mins walking distance or of the local shop when we asked

Review 72:I loved the lake, the hotel and the room.

Review 73:When we arrived they had no record of our booking but after obtaining proof through the email received they magically found it. No apology was received from the staff and if we hadn't persevered then we would have paid but they would have stated we hadn't arrived when we did.

Review 74:There was some noise in the night from a generator or very noise water pipes, but we still had a very pleasant stay.

Review 75:lovely stay, very relaxed and staff were very help full.

Review 76:Very disappointed, we asked for a cot to be provided for our 1 year old when booking, unfortunately on arrival all cots were unavailable & they were unable to source another from their sister hotel, so our son had to sleep on a mattress on the floor (no sheets were provided so I stripped my bed to make one for him), the upshot was a very disturbed night sleep which totally ruined our stay.

Review 77:The food was very good

Review 78:I didn't like the fact the bar staff did not understand a word i said i have to repeat my self 6 times and the room was covered in dust but all in all we were happy

Review 79:I liked that we had the lake to sit and few and was close to our venue

Review 80:Nothing all went well

Review 81:Nice room overlooking the lake, even had an ironing board and iron in the room. Fabulous breakfast, although buffet style which is no great favourite of mine.

Review 82:This hotel reminded us of Phoenix nights meets Agatha Christies murder she wrote. This hotel has amazing 'character', it IS very dated decor but is also still in good condition and very comfortable. The hotel kindly accommodated us with our bikes too. The hotel guide book in the room is a must read!

Review 83:The Health & Leisure Facilities closed at 4.30pm. The Breakfast was basic and the toast was left out which was cold and the tea & coffee also left out which was luke warm. The toilet lid was broken and only one set of towels which we then got a next set. The Maid Service coming into the room the next morning on two occasions without knocking.

Review 84:I like the fact that we had a balcony and the room was a good size plus there was a nightclub.

Review 85:Was surprised that most of the places Was closed like the restaurant at the evening. We had to pick something from the bar menu.

Review 86:I enjoyed the lovely beautiful view of the lake from the balcony. It was peaceful and relaxing.

Review 87:only two bad points. there was a stain on the carpet in our room, and there was a bad water stain on a wall which backed from the bathroom, its just a shame as it looked ugly....Thats all. will definitely go back.

Review 88:Greeted with a warm welcome, staff were brilliant and very helpful. Food excellent both in the lounge bar and at breakfast. The full English was not greasy and the croissants, and fruit was fresh, cereal and yoghurt's available too. they asked it you wanted more tea or coffee and did not rush you out. bar/food staff so friendly and even turned the tv over to a football game we wanted to watch. just cannot fault the staff at all. The hotel manager should be proud of them. The lounge, lobby and dining areas are so comfortable and very clean. if you wanted a room with a view of the lake there was a charge for this but for £25.00 for 2 days it was well worth the money as the view of the lake was lovely, especially in the morning. The room was clean, the bed linen very clean, as was the bathroom. the wifi in the room was fast and you connected up straight away without the need for a password, there was a flat screen TV and tea/coffee facilities, hair dryer, Iron & ironing board. a 4 minute journey led you to Frimley Lodge park, well worth a visit for a canal walk, pitch & putt plus a cafe in the grounds, also 8 miles away Mr Mulligans adventure golf is a must for a fun hour or two. you cant help but relax at this hotel, just sitting outside looking over the lake feeding the geese and the HUGE Koi Carp fish (almost as big as the geese) a great relaxing weekend away.

Review 89:Saturday 18th July 2015 - We arrived just before half past three, walked into the reception - very dark, run down. Reception staff seemed more concerned about payments. The first thing they mentioned was money. They didn't smile at all. We got to our room which was spacious, air con worked and the electricity seemed fine. We asked about using the facilities on site (pool, gym etc) everything closed at 4. We thought that was quite early on a weekend. Anyway, went for a walk around the complex, looked like a desolate town, empty and bare. We thought we'd be able to use the squash courts etc but nothing was open (nothing looked appealing or looked like it had been open in over 10 years). We had the idea of being able to walk around the lake - couldn't all of this was fenced off with padlocks. Bar staff - must of been a language barrier, gave me a completely different drink to what I had ordered. We asked to be moved rooms as we over looked the car park and the hotel was empty anyway - no, wasn't allowed was an extra £20 and the gentleman behind the reception desk didn't seem very apologetic and didn't really give a damn about the situation - it doesn't make it clear on the website to what is open and what is not. The website makes the hotel seem more appealing that is actually was in person which was we wanted a relaxing weekend away. And couldn't do anything apart from buy drinks and sit in our room. In the morning an hour before our check out time - the maids let themselves into our room without knocking. Very disappointed with this hotel, wouldn't advise anyone to stay here unless you like being treated badly.

Review 90:Staff on arrival were a little unwelcoming. A smile would have been nice. Reception/lobby area is dark and depressing.

Review 91:Got upgraded to a larger room which was large and comfortable with a big bathroom.

Review 92:The receptionist was pushy about paying up front, made you feel like you were planning to leave without paying!swimming pool opening times are rubbish at weekend.

Review 93:We liked the relaxed atmosphere and the very clean room.

Review 94:Room had not appeared to be cleaned from when i left in the morning to returning in the evening. I shared my room with half a dozen spiders :-( My Window had a gap at the top, even when closed which let the sound of the carpark in along with a draft. The shower was not big enough for someone 6ft tall. I had to kneel down to wash the top half of my body properly. Upon return on the second night I found a black insect of some sort crawling on my bed sheets. Canot comment on the breakfast as i did not want to chance it.

Review 95:room was a reasonable size TV was ok

Review 96:staff service levels poor "untrained" this is a service industry. I left my room key at work, I informed the young man on reception he said he could not let me in my room, I asked the manager in the main hotel, he then unlocked my room. !!!

Review 97:Checking in :( just got asked if we would like to pay now and to sign a form. General chattiness and telling us what time breakfast was would of been helpful.

Review 98:We requested a lake view with balcony which was lovely. The breakfast was amazing.

Review 99:In The evening no restaurant available, no bar or bar snacks available. No notification of this during check in, no notices in bar/restaurant area or anywhere else in hotel. Shower in room not working, reception said they had been disconnected. It did state on my booking confirmation that the room had a shower and a bath. Very rowdy party that night that wasn't communicated to guests.

Review 100:Location for what we had to do in the area

Review 101:Reception was not informed the restaurant was shut and we did not find out until we tried to get a table. Could not go elsewhere as we had had a couple of drinks by then. Also problem getting electric to work, the key point was problematic.

Review 102:polite helpful staff

Review 103:Staff very unfriendly, particularly reception! Restaurant closed, bar meals only, but no signs to say or explanations.

Review 104:Bed an d room with a view lovely.

Review 105:Decor is very tired and dated The window in our ground floor room opened onto the car park with cars parked very close to the window

Review 106:Good choice at breakfast buffet Swimming pool and spa

Review 107:Public areas are dark and need updating

Review 108:Proximity to express train to London, quality of room and breakfast. Free parking. Staff were helpful

Review 109:The facilities didn't appear to be being maintained, light bulbs not working group, bathroom radiator with unprotected cables, gym equipment not working. Little manager support and slow at getting back to the customer with resolution.

Review 110:Steak was good in the restaurant even if the accompaniments were a little 'Bernice inn' style

Review 111:The Sauan and Jacuzzi wasnt heated when we arrived at the leisure facility. If it opens at a certain time, then the facilities should be ready to use.. The leisure staff need to arrive earlier to make sure this happens...

Review 112:The rooms, were clean and tidy. Food and drink selections. Nice location overlooking the lake.

Review 113:Overall it's a bit worn and dated, most staff were friendly and helpful but the night staff on reception were blunt. Good was ok, breakfast was ok. On the whole it's a decent place to stay but for the price am sure there are better value for money places in the area

Review 114:Good location, good range of services and found the free wifi a bonus, no need to sign up to or into an account, fast and reliable.

Review 115:The hotel is warm, clean & comfortable but is in bad need of modernising, so much of it needs replacing, not just fixing, it needs a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to date, they need to extend openin times of the gym & pool at the weekend. The showered in ladies change rooms were out of order for over a week, again the whole lot needs replacing, they were only fixing the floor.

Review 116:Location, the swimming pool, good breakfast, comfortable bed.

Review 117:We were expecting to be able to use the bowling facilities. But being a Saturday they were closed. Also the gym closed at 4.00 which was a shame.

Review 118:The rooms were a good size, beds were large and comfortable.

Review 119:Stayed 2 nights. Evening meals in restaurant were tasteless and unappetising. When I told the waitress the food was not good her reply was 'thank you'. Enough said.

Review 120:The location and facilities at the hotel were great for my business trip. Breakfast was good.

Review 121:Decoration and fittings were in need of attention. Only 1 of 2 bathroom lamps worked, extractor fan did not work, toilet seat moved, wardrobe hinges were broken.

Review 122:Outlook from bedroom and dining room was good. Bed was comfortable and restaurant staff were generally friendly and attentive. Food good.

Review 123:Our room was close to the boiler room of the fitness area and noisy at night. Car parking uncontrolled with double spaces being taken and vans and pickups parked in the wrong areas.

Review 124:Lake veiw enjoyable Breakfast lovely

Review 125:Buried in the terms and conditions there's a clause which places a charge for parking vans. This is unjustifiable and not stated clearly where parking is stated as free and included. I got the impression I wasn't the first to raise this with the reception staff. The site is generally run down and dated. The breakfast was plentiful but basic.

Review 126:A lovely setting at the side of the lake. The room was a good size and the bed comfortable.

Review 127:Corridor doors between blocks of rooms were a bit hard to open with suitcases.

Review 128:Friendly helpful staff, comfortable room, nice atmosphere, lake with ducks good to walk outside, great pool and gym, and wonderful breakfast

Review 129:- bar staff was atrocious - went AWOL any time you wanted to order and reception had to hunt them down - wifi signal was not the best in some of the communal areas

Review 130:- good location and had a great view of the lake from my room - comfy and pretty good value for money in the area - plenty of free parking

Review 131:Noisy air conditioning unit outside room. Shower not high enough for tall people!

Review 132:Beds very comfortable and room clean. Friendly staff on reception. Breakfast buffet style and plenty of choice.

Review 133:Nowhere to sit in the bar it was full of workmen mostly one or two sitting at a table alone and watching football so no one could really talk. We had to go elsewhere to sit. Them menu only been served in the bar and not at the tables in the restaurant, they are restaurant prices so you should be allowed to sit at a proper table and not a very low one in the bar full of workmen watching football - but as I said there was nowhere to sit anyway.

Review 134:The Room was great, the breakfast was great, the location was ideal for our purposes

Review 135:Wall lights didn't work, air con unit had error on, didn't work and control flashed all night. Took me ten attempts to get room service to answer.

Review 136:Location close to work

Review 137:Bed wasn't comfortable, Hotel very dated and signs of neglect. At around 22:00 a drainage smell over took the room, seemed to be coming from the bathroom. Breakfast was cold.

Review 138:The balcony overlooking the lake.

Review 139:A little dated in terms of décor; bathrooms are small and shower was low pressure compared to many more modern hotels. Tea/coffee facilities in room good, but kettle needed to be taken to opposite end of room to plug in to mains!

Review 140:Food in Bar was very good value, good variety and very well cooked and presented. Used gym, good to have one in a hotel to 'limber' up in the evening after a long days work. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good also to have iron and ironing board in room - rescued me from wearing a crumpled shirt to work!

Review 141:We stayed for a darts event & couldn't have asked for more. The hotel was inviting, clean & staff helpful & professional. The room had everything we needed and most importantly a very comfortable bed! The view on the lake was lovely & the breakfast selection catered for everyone. Would love to visit again

Review 142:It's run down. The food is a bit basic and staff are a bit clueless

Review 143:Gym, wifi and location are all perfect. The gym staff were excellent and very friendly.
