Reviews for Ramada Hotel Dover
Review 1:Nothing
Review 2:Staff were very friendly. I was amazed at the facilities considering the amazing value. I was worried about what it would be like considering the price. We had dinner in the hotel and that was superb. Highly recommend this hotel
Review 3:I I cannot fault my stay in anyway. The staff from reception, restaurant, and housekeeping were all extremely helpful & friendly. I will definately be staying again
Review 4:nothing
Review 5:Wonderful hotel on the outskirts of Dover, just what i needed after an unfortunate delay in crossing the channel from France. From the politeness of the staff, to the wonderful room with the excellent coffee machine and very comfortable large warm bed. throughly recommend you consider a stay here either before leaving for foreign climes or on the way back, for me it normally involves at least an 8 hour drive back to Scotland.
Review 6:The menu in the restaurant is to limited, but we got offered the menu from the bar which was much more available.
Review 7:The staff is really friendly and it is clean and very quiet. So good nights rest. Close to Canterbury.
Review 8:I made use of the all night bar at 3.30am as I have problems sleeping - big mistake! A double brandy cost me £24.40..... I could have bought a bottle for that amount.
Review 9:I had a £30 deal for one night hence the 'Value for money' rating. Very comfortable and check-in was easy. Staff friendly, restaurant available (breakfast £10 extra) if required.
Review 10:Room could have been cleaned better. Cobwebs in corners and on ceiling. Hairs in the bathroom. Wifi was iffy. Staff at breakfast were rather abrupt. We kept having to ask for items. Bed sheet was too small for the bed.
Review 11:Good sized room, somewhere to sit. Fridge in room. Parking availble.
Review 12:None
Review 13:We enjoyed our short stay at the Ramada Dover.Staff were friendly and helpful. On leaving, we asked the receptionist for a list of other Ramada hotels in the UK where we would consider staying when in that area.
Review 14:We put the postcode provided into the satnav and we ended up nowhere near the hotel so there was a bit of hunting around on our part after a very long journey (13 hours driving)through France that day!. Also unfortunately the teaspoons in the room were dirty and a couple of the cups, although looked clean still smelled of the previous users beverages.
Review 15:The friendliness of the staff and the overall cleanliness of the hotel.
Review 16:Bathroom very cramped. Menu in restaurant looked good, but too expensive
Review 17:Spacious comfortable room near facilities, but quiet. Warm. Friendly, helpful staff. Very good breakfast
Review 18:Did not like nothing
Review 19:Very friendly, clean and the room was very comfortable and welcoming!! Was a great stay, staff was very welcoming too and friendly, especially Chloe in the restaurant. 5 stars for Chloe.
Review 20:Booked a family room for 4 adults.. With this we had only two towels which is ridiculous. Beds were not the best, and the pillows were even worse... And it is one pillow per person, and only one spare to fight over! Restaurant food was pricey and bar had minimal choice, as well as a TV going and a radio... Surely it should be one or the other guy behind the bar friendly enough but couldn't mix a cocktail on offer! Font desk were the worst... What really annoyed was on check in we were asked for a card to swipe, happily handed one over, only to be told at check out that if I wasn't using the original card swiped, the money on it for the room rate would be held for 5 days regardless. If I had been told that, I would have made sure I used a specific card, but I was not told this and this therefore annoyed me, the man on the desk just shrugged his shoulder, found him very rude!
Review 21:Location was good for Eurotunnel which is why we booked. Plenty of parking.
Review 22:Hotels never have enough pillows!!! I would rather throw one off my bed then be looking for an extra!
Review 23:Right where we needed to be! Friendly staff and good rooming
Review 24:Stayed one night prior an early ferry crossing and were very satisfied with our stay. There is a McDonalds adjacent for those with an very early start.
Review 25:Chair on Desk full with Glitter from Christmas Cards as was the Carpet Air-condition Vent full with Dust and Fluff Repaired Curtain which was half hanging down.
Review 26:Silver fish in the bathroom, which we removed ourself, people making lots of noise in hallways passing our room, not hotels fault, but, annoying when trying to get to sleep, rooms not well sound proofed as you can hear your neighbour using bathroom throughout the night.
Review 27:Staff very good
Review 28:Could use a good deep clean. We pointed out the chair in our room. The hairdryer was in an odd location: screwed into a drawer near the television. Maybe a more appropriate location would be...in the bathroom?!!
Review 29:Great location for the ferries and tunnel. Quiet, and with good facilities. Friendly staff.
Review 30:It's a little jaded - will need a refurbishment fairly soon, but perfectly adequate.
Review 31:It's an airport type hotel, depending on travellers rather than being a destination in its own right. It does this job really well. In addition the staff have a very welcoming and helpful attitude. The food is better than expected - they appear to have a real chef rather than a defroster/reheater.
Review 32:We experienced an evacuation in the middle of the night. We understand it has to be done if the alarm sounds but it wasn't very well managed due to only one member of staff on duty so nobody was sure where to go or what to do. Worrying experience. Apparently the alarm was set off by steam from some guests showering with the bathroom door open but in our room there were no notices to advise that the bathroom door should be closed when showering and anyway it was difficult to close it as it stuck. Our room was comfortable but smelt unpleasantly perfumed maybe from some cleaning products or something sprayed to cover up another, perhaps damp, smell. Another negative was that the bar closed too early.
Review 33:It was very conveniently located to visit our relatives. The room was OK. Nice bathroom. All staff were good and the Reception staff and dining room staff were particularly helpful and pleasant.
Review 34:When booked online it says that Dinner iif purchased at time of booking but when ask at hotel they said because of Christmas price are changed to £32.95 PP and dinner is fully booked . Well it was a but disappointment as we were in house guest but we managed.
Review 35:When we checked in the front deck person was friendly and professional but the next morning when we were checking out there was a such awful and rude person that I couldn't believe that someone can speak to me the way he did. His problem was simply that I said that we were checking out and wanted to give him the keys. He bursed out that we already paid and should have just drop the key in the fast check out box instead of bothering him. Absolutely disgusting. This just sounds like a joke but this actually happened. Also the beds are uncomfortable.
Review 36:The hotel is very closely located to the Dover ferries, which can be a big advantage and there is a nice Indian restaurant round the corner.
Review 37:Not a bad experience, but corners of room had not been cleaned properly some cobwebs, and marks on wall.
Review 38:Comfortable bed. Friends staff. Quiet room. Convenience of hotel to my family in Dover.
Review 39:The staff are always friendly and the service is wonderful . We stay at the Dover ramada at least two or three times at year and enjoy it every time
Review 40:Bathroom could do with upgrading, mould on ceiling and around bath.
Review 41:Great location, excellent friendly staff, quiet comfortable room, beds were ultra comfortable, first class sleep after driving 300 miles. Breakfast was great
Review 42:A very quiet pretty hotel. Brilliant having no stairs to climb. Restaurant was outstanding, the waitor was so professional & polite. The food was the finest and served beautifully. Receptionist polite and friendly. Rooms very adequate.
Review 43:WI-Fi didn't work on I phone 6S. BUT the staff did all they could to try and rectify the situation, and gave us a free drink because they failed!
Review 44:Very convenient for overnight stay when travelling to Calais and beyond the next day. Restaurant on site, and open till 10.00pm. Food good.
Review 45:I really like this lovely hotel because it is all on one level with a warm friendly atmosphere. The food is very good and the rooms are always excelent.
Review 46:Sat Nav took us in a huge arc through narrow country lanes, whereas, it was just one junction further on when approaching from London direction
Review 47:Value for money
Review 48:Breakfast is a good hearty one, that sets you up for the long day ahead. Had a dinner there also on one occasion, and that was also enjoyable. Best Hotel I'd choose wherever possible this side or other side of Channel.
Review 49:Dinner in Restaurant on first night of arrival for ease was a mistake....Not bad as such but over priced for what we got!!!! Should have gone to the Pub!!!
Review 50:Excellent deal. Very convenient for our Calais shopping trip. Good Pub/Restaurant (The Archer) within easy walking distance Very comfortable
Review 51:Hotel is not that easy to find. Better sign -posting would benefit guests particularly at the final access to the hotel.
Review 52:Room was very clean and tidy, the provision of tea/coffee making facilties was very welcome. Breakfast was comprehensive in content. and where required was well cooked.
Review 53:Not getting a message saying access was closed from the A2, after wandering round the service station nearby directed me on how to navigate the little back roads to get there.
Review 54:We were not offered help with our luggage on arrival, was left to struggle with multipule bags. Breakfast was good, but inpersonnal, it lacked the extra touches you get in a good quality B&B
Review 55:Very friendly reception on arrival. Food was excellent in the evening. Room was very comfortable and very clean. Shower was great, nice and hot and powerful.
Review 56:The weather and the Xmas party limited some of the facilities but not such as to cause inconvenience.
Review 57:Our Dinner was excellent. Staff were all very helpful.
Review 58:Expensive breakfast - £10 for continental and then £4.95 EXTRA for full English. Hint - Toby Carvery manage to offer a eat as much as you like Full English for £3.99 ;-)
Review 59:Nice hotel in good location for Dover Ferries. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Free wifi. Good in room refreshment facilities (Kettle & Coffee Maker) and extra supplies (inc. fresh milk in a jug) on request.
Review 60:A minor, housekeeping point-----the essential bin liner and plastic bag holder on the wall in the bathroom, were empty/missing but despite leaving the empty container on the sink, this was replaced on the wall, still empty!!!
Review 61:Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location . Good facilities.
Review 62:Breakfast was sold as being from 6:30am, yet at 6:34 no lights or toaster were turned on in the dining area; food was laid out. I entered and started to pull together a meal and was rudely accosted in an almost acusative tone for my room number. If the staff had been on duty and the dining room set up in full at the correct time, they could have taken this info on entry, not by shouting across a darkened room!
Review 63:Location
Review 64:The weather for our journey (almost 200 miles!) to the hotel was particularly bad and whereas we had planned to visit the local sights this was not really possible. We dined in the hotel, and were well treated by the reception staff as well as the restaurant staff. A disappointment was that there was no heating/hot water available in the room and although the receptionist did her best and offered an transfer to a different room, this was not really an option following the journey we had experienced..
Review 65:Only criticism was that there was only one bedside table.
Review 66:The location was perfect for our early morning crossing to France. Had an executive room which ticked all the boxes. Ordered food in the bar which was top quality at a very reasonable price. All the staff we spoke to were very polite & efficient. Would defiantly stay here again
Review 67:An air conditioner on the roof outside 215 went all night and was so loud during the night that the wall almost vibrated! Very little sleep
Review 68:Room service menu
Review 69:Limited staff on duty during the afternoon and early evening so service slowed down a bit
Review 70:Executive room was comfortable - nice to have a bit of extra space - good location and parking - good breakfast and bar snacks
Review 71:Room allocation was overlooked on check in. We were staying for leisure and to explore Dover. We were placed in a room next to a family departing at 6am which was very noisy. We were then woken again by housekeeping at 8am hoovering outside our room despite the 'do not disturb' sign on our door. Considering the location of this hotel and the frequency of port users, I would have assumed check out times would be monitored to ensure guest comfort.
Review 72:Staff were friendly.
Review 73:The mattresses were so hard it was impossible to sleep. Both my husband and I hardly slept at all.
Review 74:I had requested soya milk for breakfast when I booked but they didn't have any when we asked in the morning. The breakfast chef, Brian ran out to the shop and bought some, thank-you. Very clean and tidy rooms
Review 75:The smelly, damp room
Review 76:Staff very accommodating, we had a damp, musty smell in our room and asked to be moved. This was done immediately and staff were very apologetic. We were moved to a family room which was large, warm and very comfortable.
Review 77:We had a superb evening meal in the hotel restaurant. The staff were great and very attentive. The hotel is located in a great position to visit lots of lovely places in East Kent. It's location is also great to access Dover port for day trips to Calais France.
Review 78:There was a function on so we could not eat in the main restaurant and the evening meal was average. The breakfast was much better quality and we were able to eat in the correct room. The property seems to be tired in need of updating.
Review 79:The mold on the bathroom tiles . Dust everywhere. Scratches and dirt on the coffee table. Dust and mold around the pictures . Marks on the wall . A cream lampshade with brown marks in .The bed felt like we were sleeping on bricks .
Review 80:It was central to where we needed to be .
Review 81:In room dining food was cold.... Hairdryer in room totally impractical!
Review 82:Staff were very helpful and always smiling. Meal in The Olive Tree restaurant was very good.
Review 83:Can't think of anything
Review 84:Our stay was very comfortable the room was clean and quiet, although it did need a little tlc. The staff were very helpful but most of all the meal in the evening was great very tasty all in all it was a great stay
Review 85:reception is in the bar / restaurant area - when we checked in we joined a receiving line for a wedding! Noisy hotel - 3 fire alarms disturbed us pre payment taken but not allowed to add to the bill! room floor needed hovering all very disjointed
Review 86:large comfortable bed good pillows
Review 87:No pickup services to and from hotel to train criuiseline or airport. That service would make a huge difference.
Review 88:Nice hotel, friendly staff ,comfortable room very nice
Review 89:It's a bit difficult to find.
Review 90:Well maintained, nice property. Food was very good and we were impressed with the staff, especially the gentleman who checked us in.
Review 91:drinks are pricey at the bar for standard beers & wine
Review 92:very good quality rooms excellent location for port of Dover restaurant somewhat expensive but high quality
Review 93:There was someone working in the room next to our, although it was 9am is was a bit annoying hearing load hammering.
Review 94:Friendly and polite staff. Especially being asked by the chef if we needed anymore breakfast before they cleared away (some places just clear up and don't let you know - you tend to lose track of time when staying for leisure).
Review 95:Poor soundproofing combined with loud TVs and a night-owl neighbour meant a disturbed night. Cleaning was adequate but not spotless, i.e. a rogue hair or two in the bathroom. The restaurant was half empty but inexplicably over an hour wait for food so we ended up eating in the less-than-atmospheric bar.
Review 96:For the cost I probably shouldn't complain. Bar food and service were better than expected.
Review 97:The room was realy dated, furniture old & dirty (can't imagine anyone sitting in that armchair). Room was freezing cold on arrival. Shower had no pressure. Wifi wasn't working (apparently a problem going on for couple of days) Requested disabled access room at the time of booking & the room we were given had a bath tub.... Go figure... We were simply too tired to complain & my mother couldn't have a proper wash.
Review 98:Location was good & breakfast was nice. Ample parking.
Review 99:No pool.
Review 100:Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel may benefit from refurbishment however the professional attitude of the staff helps make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Review 101:None!
Review 102:Such a great hotel and a great price. Room was fantastic, comfortable bed with anti-bug protective mattress cover (a welcome addition considering past experiences). Of the four hotels we stayed in during visit, this was the best.
Review 103:We recently stay at the ramada hotel dover in room 237 on Saturday 24thOctober for one night. We were surprised to find when we arrived thatthere was a party booked in the hotel for that night. However we werereassured by the gentleman on the desk that our room was far enough awayfrom the music that we would not be disturbed. Unfortunately the noise was so great that my wife could not sleep until after it stopped. We did not complain or ask to move as the reception desk had already told us that this was the ideal room to be in. Then to make the situation worse at about 2.30 am the couple next door to us came home banging and shouting at each other for about thirty minutes then the man started to be violently sick which we could hear in our room. Again we thought it is 3 am and we did not want to complain about a man being sick next to our room. Then in the morning my wife saw an ambulance arrive and presumed that this man was still sick. When we went to pay our bill the same man was on reception and when we asked for the manager he said that the manager was not available. We felt that he was unsympathetic to our problem and just wanted us to leave. We asked about complaints procedure and he gave us a card so that we could email our complaint to ramada. This was our first visit to a ramada hotel and we found the rooms and the hotel excellent. We also enjoyed our short visit to Deal and intend to visit again in the future. However we will be looking for another hotel and will not recommend yours to any of our friends.
Review 104:The location was perfect for our needs
Review 105:There was a function on, which meant booming music in our room - not great with young children trying to sleep. We asked to move rooms, which eventually we did. Sadly, the function guests talked noisily outside our new room until way past two in the morning.
Review 106:Room service food was adequate.
Review 107:There was a party going on and it was very noisy.
Review 108:served the purpose. We arrived late and the staff at the front desk was very helpful to organize some nice sandwiches for us
Review 109:The only problem we encountered was coaches blocking the car park entrance/exit meaning we couldn't get out until they went.
Review 110:The staff were very helpful, especially the chef at breakfast!
Review 111:Very expensive for an average room, which didn't include breakfast. I thought that £25 for breakfast for 2 was also excessive.
Review 112:Good location as we were attending a party at the hotel.
Review 113:No signposting when approaching from the south which was confusing when we knew we had to cross a busy dual carriageway immediately after a large roundabout, although it was much easier than satnav explained and could have saved a circuitous route around the back roads!
Review 114:The hotel is tired; was woken up with rattling trolleys of bottles down the pathway outside my window 3 times; woken up with loud music from another part of the hotel.
Review 115:Location and staff
Review 116:That the breakfast was not charged to my card when we have asked to prepay on check in and on departure we thought we were charged twice.
Review 117:The effort to give us a room as soon as possible. Eager to please.
Review 118:On arrival we were informed there was a wedding and the music should finish by 11.30. It was extremely loud disturbed our evening and suffered rowdy guests swearing outside our window. We chose the hotel due to its position and proximity to the ferry port but our stay was ruined.
Review 119:At around 4am and lasting for over an hour there was a van near to our room being loaded/unloaded with considerable noise. It was very clear that sleeping residents nearby were of no concern to the staff.
Review 120:Lack of good eating places within walking distance I accept that is outside of hotels control
Review 121:Good welcome from staff on reception room upgrade given convenient on site parking
Review 122:This was our most disappointing visit. We upgraded to an executive room which smelt stale but the bathroom was as cramped, no cold water for bath/shower during our stay. WiFi patchy and restaurant meals (fish) had strange combinations of ingredients.
Review 123:Have stayed here many times and always enjoy the ambiance of the hotel. The breakfast supervisor and chef are particularly friendly.
Review 124:Location was a little too far from Dover Waterfront and down town Downtown Dover to feel like you were part of the town. This
Review 125:Room was spacious and clean. Staff was friendly.
Review 126:Food & drink very expensive. We appreciate this is London, but the drinks especially were priced over the top.
Review 127:Excellent location, very good staff, very good facilities.
Review 128:We particularly enjoyed the free i newspaper and the room and service etc were excellent. We also enjoyed entertaining four friends for dinner with us in the evening
Review 129:Rooms smells musky and not clean. very loud rooms due to large gaps under doors. So you can hear every conversation as people walk past your room.
Review 130:Too warm in room even with window open Breakfast disappointed. Bacon fatty. Sausage anorexic. Black pudding like cardboard Wi fi not working
Review 131:Very comfy bed
Review 132:It's simply not value for money for a one night stay before heading off on your travels from the Port. The building, bar and rooms are tired, and very 90s.
Review 133:Beds comfy and location to Port is ideal though don't expect to be able to walk casually into town, as it isn't that close. Restaurant meal was good and staff pleasant, though not all!
