Reviews for The Hillmorton Manor Hotel
Review 1:poor toiletries the bed rocked more than titanic in a storm. Beer was a bit ropey
Review 2:cheap and cheerful it was clean although it was dead in the morning no one around to give keys to. Odd
Review 3:The noise level out side my window was really bad, if i put my ear to the window i could hear conversations. There was a party on downstairs but the smoking area was just outside so you could hear the band every time the door opened. So terrible sleep
Review 4:location . 5 mins in taxi
Review 5:I could here every noise that was being made in the room above me, obviously a bedroom! Taps needing fixed in bathroom. Should have been told that was under renovation as materials were just laying around the property inside and out.
Review 6:The staff were friendly and helpful. Changed rooms on request.
Review 7:Trying to pass toilet to get to shower with the slanted ceiling but that's being picky.
Review 8:Plesant staff. Plesant location room satisfactory for solo occupent
Review 9:The extractor fan in the toilet/ shower was very noisy due to a failing bearing.
Review 10:The room we booked was clean and ready for us on arrival. The shower was efficient and easy understand and set.
Review 11:Had to use taxi - price of coming at a weekend with public transport - hardly the hotel's fault as I went on line & chose it in preference to Travelodge
Review 12:Attractive building friendly staff nice location nice room good facilities good breakfast comfortable
Review 13:The room and all the public spaces are very tired and would benefit from a make-over. The kitchen extractor fan outside the bedroom window was noisy. The bathroom extractor fan squealed very badly, there was no temperature stabilization on the shower. The bedroom had a terrible smell of dirty drains. No choice of toast for breakfast, just one white and one wholemeal slice.
Review 14:Breakfast was ok and hot.
Review 15:There was no staff the whole time I was there. We had to go the pub over the road to collect keys, that I felt was unprofessional as they should have a member of staff on the desk 24/7. In addition when we went to check out we had to leave the key in our door as yet again there was no staff available. Also the shower was not powerful in the slightes and the bed was poor. My best man and I book here as we though it would have been a night of comfort before my wedding day however delivers the adverse effect. Finally I would not recommend this hotel.
Review 16:Shower didn't work and when leaving as we had an outside roomcouldn't get into hotel to check out - note on door said out ofhours ( this was 9.30 am) go to red lion over road - that was alsoclosed! Couldn' t have breakfast as we hadn't pre booked it andnobody else was having breakfast! Had to go and find somewhere to havebreakfast and then return to hotel to give room key in when we were told"you could have just left ket in the room" - might be a goodidea to tell guests that on arrival rather than departure!
Review 17:Bar area pleasant and adequate bedroom
Review 18:Room was very hot, but the weather was stifling, but the hotel provided a fan.
Review 19:Location near motorway, off street free parking. Friendly staff catered for my dietary requirements and the food was excellent.
Review 20:The hotel, food and bar all closed at 9pm. Literally locked the doors. As a guest you had to use your key to acces the hotel, but could not get any food or bar. No aircon on an extremely warm night.
Review 21:Location good Breakfast OK
Review 22:The room I had was basic with a very small shower, but this is a brilliant find. The staff are very friendly, the restaurant is pretty decent and the breakfast in particular very good value indeed. This is so much nicer and better value than other places in the vicinity in the same price bracket!
Review 23:Food was very good & staff very friendly and helpful. One staff member let me use her mobile phone to call my sister to let her know we had a problem with our car.
Review 24:Maybe the shower could have been cleaner / neater, but that's about all.
Review 25:The location for me was great. The breakfast included mushrooms, which is rare, and appreciated by me. The price was good. Bed was comfortable. A great staircase.
Review 26:On Suite bathroom with wash basin in bedroom! Bathroom very dirty. Net curtains in bed room were very dirty as was the bed base. No attention to detail, shabby miss matched furnishings.
Review 27:Breakfast was very nice
Review 28:Ground floor bedroom backed on to the outside smoking area. Room was oddly set out with a poorly decorated en- suit - wallpaper hanging off, broken tiles. There was a bath but water was only luke warm, so impossible to actually have a bath.
Review 29:Comfortable bed and good food.
Review 30:Shower didn't work, toilet stopped flushing and 2 light bulbs not working. Toilet fan v noisy.
Review 31:Very comfortable bed and much quieter than I thought it would be. Had a great nights sleep.
Review 32:Room felt tired and a lack of attention to basics.Hardly any toilet paper,(decided it was easier to buy our own rather than fight our way to the bar to ask for some). Shower was not working so we had to attend our evening out without a shower. It was mended by the time we got back though.
Review 33:Very good breakfast served by pleasant friendly staff Plenty of parking space
Review 34:Stopped here for a buisness meeting in the morning. Had lots to do with emails etc... I was then told no internet in the rooms but if I sat in a dark corner in the deserted dinning room, downstairs i could get a signal. Also the owner is probably one of the most miserable people I have met in the hotel buisness
Review 35:Nothing
Review 36:We stayed two nights In room 1 very small, decor very tired and shower did not work, In need of a good up grade.
Review 37:The staff were lovely and very helpful, young dark haired girl from the bar who served our evening meal and the Geordie couple who cooked breakfast they were very nice,
Review 38:This was advertised as a superior single room so I would hate to see what a standard single room was like. The room was cold. Toilet wasn't cleaned once in the 2 days I was there. Towells were old and grey, and not replaced. Furnishings were cheap and nasty. Corridor leading to room smelled of fish and was musty, with an ironing board left outside one room in the middle of the corridor. Where on earth did the 3 star rating come from ?
Review 39:Absolutely Nothing.
Review 40:Wi-Fi kept dropping out and I had to use data download to read my emails.
Review 41:the whole place was clean and tidy and the staff were helpful and friendly. Had good food in the evening and for breakfast.
Review 42:No complaints.
Review 43:Good room decorations, tea coffee facilities, free wifi, tv, shower and pub below and supermarket across the road. As well as a free carpark behind.
Review 44:No receptionist at all. I was busy knocking at the front door until a passer bye directed me to the side door as the entrance. Then, an instrution that I should go accross the road to the Red Pub ( the sister company) to collect my room key. Charging for breakfast seperately.
Review 45:Flexible when I made mistake in my booking, cleaniness is great, Wi-Fi is very functional and staff were great
Review 46:1. Lumpy bed. 2. Furnishings were old and uncomfortable. 3. Chair in the room was badly stained. 4. Loud noises and banging in hallways at night.
Review 47:The food was fabulous The staff were friendly and helpful
Review 48:My husband and I were travelling with my 91 year old mother and the treatment we received was particularly kind and attentive. This hotel would certainly be our first choice if we were in the area again.
Review 49:Very lovely and tidy place to stay, clean and comfortable! Not close to the town centre but it's just 10 min by car and parking it's not too expensive. The restaurant was excellent, different dishes for whatever taste and the full English breakfast was wonderful!!!!
Review 50:Meal portions could be a bit bigger!!
Review 51:Easy to find, good parking, good value. Staff were friendly and the food was good quality and reasonable price mid week. Rooms clean and tidy
Review 52:Just like originally designed this is accomadation with Pub and restaurant built in. Car park at rear. Serves breakfast and evening meals. Didn't have a bath in my room but the shower was large, clean and had plenty of flow.
Review 53:The bar and restaurant are closed on a Monday, which is the day I booked. There is a sister Pub across the road which you have to book in with.
Review 54:Double room was good. Clean and comfortable.
Review 55:Delay in being attended to when checking in and out Step to get into rooms A cheaper continental breakfast would have been a good option
Review 56:Ample car parking Well located for town and surrounding area Large rooms Excellent (but expensive) breakfast
Review 57:Ironing board in corridor immediately outside Room 2 with dirty food plates on it. There had clearly been wedding guests in the room before me as there was confetti lying about unswept. I personally don't like all the cushions on beds which seems to be a fad in hotels currently. I didn't like the galvanised chimney from the kitchen outside my bedroom window which carried cooking smells into the room as both windows had been left open, presumably as it was so warm. I also got the smell of cigarette smoke coming in from the outside smoking area below my window. I was very disappointed that the Wifi was not working so I was unable to work on my LapTop in the evening as planned. I was also disappointed that there was no evening meal as the chef doesn't work on Mondays.
Review 58:Very comfortable bed with more than enough milk containers for 2 morning coffees.
Review 59:wifi was appalling all over the hotel, quite important when you are away for business. Random cupboard in our room full of stuff.
Review 60:Good room size and bathroom
Review 61:Shower went from hot to cold to hot again without warning. The fittings were a bit dated but fine for storage. The room above had very squeaky floor boards. bar shut early for a Saturday. We didn't bother with the breakfast as it is very expensive.
Review 62:The location, friendly welcome. Clean tidy room. Good place to hoop on the local bus into the town center. Quite area and rear car park. Will stop there again for what we paid it was value for money.
Review 63:Ground floor room at rear of hotel door opened onto beer garden, smelled a bit damp.
Review 64:great value, good food, comfortable bed, staff very friendly, great location I would visit again but would ask for room inside hotel.
