Reviews for Rose & Crown

Review 1:We hadn't got time to stay longer.

Review 2:It was like traveling back in time but with a lot more comfort. The room was large and quaint, we imagined the other people who must have stayed there over the past century plus. Excellent facitlities with lovely bathroom. Very friendly and accomodating staff. Huge breakfast.

Review 3:The room was very comfortable, with modern conveniences whilst still retaining some old world charm. View from our bedroom window was beautiful looking over the fields towards Tenbury Wells. Warm welcome from the landlord and a generous tasty cooked breakfast the next morning. Would certainly return.

Review 4:The price reflects the disadvantages of being on a main road within industrial buildings. But really, the traveller doesn't notice that because of the triple glazing and air con.

Review 5:Superb place, very friendly and helpful staff, breakfast fantastic. The building is surrounded by industrial sites, but they have installed triple glazing and air con which is fab. Also I left my iPad behind, and the cleaning staff phoned me immediately and looked after it for me till I could get back for it. Thank you! I would have been heartbroken if I had got to Gretna without it!

Review 6:All was perfect.

Review 7:I loved the welcome, the friendliness of the staff and nothing was too much trouble at all. I liked the bathroom and the room very much.

Review 8:Landlord and landlady couldn't do enough for you so very welcoming, food was excellent and breakfast was top notch, only stayed 1 night but a very.enjoyable experience

Review 9:The only downside was the location,a beautiful little pub nestled between a large factory and a fairly busy road.

Review 10:All the staff where more than helpful and the food was excellent.Lovely pub.

Review 11:Comfortable bedroom with the little extras that lifts the hotel above competitors. Warm welcome with excellent food in this delightful hotel/pub.

Review 12:Shame its located next to industrial unit but not disturbed too much due to good double glazing in property

Review 13:Only stayed one night, made to feel very welcome. Loved well stocked bathroom with all toiletries and enormous shower cubicle in bathroom. Loved the fact they use lots of local produce.

Review 14:The combination of a busy road and a factory mean that this is not a peaceful place to stay. Also, we were made to feel guilty that the chef had stayed to cook us dinner, despite never having been told that this would be the case or that we were the sole diners that evening. Previous reviews that we read had perhaps built our expectations too high, but we were certainly underwhelmed by this B&B. We were staying here at the end of a trip through Wales that had meant 7 different B&Bs in as many nights and can say that, from our experience, this is not great value for money and there are many better places to stay.

Review 15:The old rooms have a real charm about them, but have been tastefully modernised.

Review 16:We stayed one night while traveling and enjoyed the spacious room and comfortable bed. The meals were great and we had a pleasant stroll into Tenbury Wells.

Review 17:Factory next door meant we could not open our bedroom window for fresh air due to the noise. the room had air conditioning to compensate. could still hear noise from factory at night.

Review 18:the evening meal was lovely, staff very friendly. Room was modern and very well decorated, lovely bathroom and toiletries.

Review 19:Pub in good location, short walk into Tenbury. Very good room, brand new shower, toiletries, good breakfast and very nice evening meal. Very helpful staff.

Review 20:It's very close to the road, but there's not too much noise at all. The ceilings are very low (beautiful old building) so you might bump your head in the night!

Review 21:Very friendly staff. Wonderful local breakfast. Hereford Suite was great - modern bathroom, nice bed. Really pleasant stay. Definitely recommend.

Review 22:The price - very high for the area - and the siting of the property, which was surrounded by factories; a fact that was skilfully concealed by clever photography.

Review 23:The room, the staff and the breakfast(!) The air conditioning was most discreet and the triple glazing was extremely effective at sound-proofing.

Review 24:This is not really a "didn't like" more of a "to avoid surprise" it is worth noting that there is a factory next door (separated by a road). Once inside the pub you can't see it and we did not hear any noise coming from the factory. Don't let the factory put you off, the Rose and Crown is a great place to stay

Review 25:Owners and staff friendly but not intrusive. Lovely room and bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Home made biscuits and fresh milk on tea tray. Excellent food both for dinner and breakfast. Entire place was spotless.

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:Loved the feel of the place, warm welcome, roaring log fire very relaxing, spotless e-suite cosy room and lovely evening meal. Would highly recommend a stay at this old english pub.

Review 28:Hadn't realised the inn was surrounded by a dairy factory and I am someone who likes to sleep with their window open!

Review 29:Well designed room, super bathroom, friendly staff and excellent breakfast

Review 30:We heard other diners being very complimentary about the dinner but we were not so impressed. We though that a simpler fare would have been more in keeping.

Review 31:Our reception was second to none.

Review 32:Could only stay one night, will have to go back sometime!

Review 33:Room full of character, beams and sloping floors! Fresh milk for the tea. Comfortable bed. Modern bathroom, lovely big shower. Fabulous breakfast.

Review 34:Incredibly helpful and warm staff - always willing to go the extra mile to make sure guests are happy. Very comfortable and clean room. Gorgeous view from hotel room over meadows and the town (you can't see the factory - 'it's behind you!').

Review 35:Everything worked just right : great pub, great dining, great breakfast, great room, great staff. Couldn't find a single thing to fault. (NB We travel all year, all over the world, and stay approximately 150 nights a year in hotels between us, so we really feel we know our subject here!).

Review 36:Nothing!

Review 37:Everything was fantastic. Real attention to detail. Old, characterful room, with modern shower room which would put many 5 * hotels to shame. Huge bath towels. Fresh milk in a flask in the room. Superb breakfast with butter in a proper dish, and home made preserves which were so good we bought some to take home. Not a plastic pot in sight. Excellent in every way.

Review 38:Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were made to feel so welcome by the owners and staff. The meals were also excellent and well prepared. We shall certainly go back there again.

Review 39:Almost nothing. Our room was a bit small and low, but we were offered an option. A little more drawer and storage space would have been nice. Stairs are steep and narrow...no lift...but help willingly offered.

Review 40:Excellent food.....especially one dessert which will be long remembered. Very helpful and friendly staff / owners. All food home prepared. We stayed several days and never ran out of delicious choices.

Review 41:It was such a shame that the original location of the pub as a coaching main road inn,had been devastated by the building of several massive commercial warehouses, offices and factory practically surrounding the grounds of the pub. However once inside there was absolutely no suggestion of the activities outside even at night in the bar and bedroom we had that was actually nearest to the access road to the site.

Review 42:The staff were so helpful and friendly. As a coeliac my dietary needs were exceptionally well met. The food menu was well chosen and imaginative. Ambiance overall was that of a friendly well run local where the owners try hard to please their clients. The pub has a welcoming feel and the original features are all truly to be appreciated even to the extent of the undulating floor in our bedroom !

Review 43:outside was spoiled a bit by industrial buildings behind, but did not spoil the overall stay.

Review 44:a large comfy room, excellent bathroom, and really good breakfast.

Review 45:The pub setting, on arrival, is a bit of a shock surrounded on three sides by a factory. This turns to annoyance when you realise you've 'been had' thanks to sympathetic photo editing. Lesson : Google Earth next time. Car park is bisected by access to a factory gate which gives all the tarmac the feel of a dusty truckstop. Great shame about these two niggles nevertheless would still go back because of all the positives.

Review 46:Friendly and very helpful staff. Room clean and warm. Fantastic quality food and convivial bar area. Accessability to Tenbury and attractions further afield is good. Nice views from front of pub.

Review 47:The Inn, while beautiful, is located next to a factory so the view on one side is spoiled, however; I find this happens a lot in England with very, very old places. We booked two rooms. The one we stayed in was beautiful and roomy. The one the other couple stayed in was cramped to say the least. I think they had 3 rooms so be careful.

Review 48:Booked two rooms and the one we stayed in was really great with a modern bathroom. The owner and his wife were personable and approachable with ideas and comments. The food was terrific!

Review 49:The bed was the most uncomfortable bed that we have ever slept in. Factory noise - the Rose and Crown is surrounded on three sides by a factory which seems to be in production 24/7. There was air-conditioning in the room, but it was very noisy, so all in all we had very little sleep.

Review 50:The food was excellent, breakfast took a long time to arrive, but was worth waiting for.

Review 51:The setting with factories close by: not as I had anticipated.

Review 52:Compact yet very well decorated and provided with a beautiful bathroom and lots of extras. Triple glazing kept any noise out. Excellent breakfast and so much care taken to meet our dietary needs.

Review 53:Friendly, warm and welcoming, proper old country pub, with great rooms. Nice large shower in ensuite facilities, and the breakfast was fantastic. Food all locally sourced, and a very nice range of beers in the bar. Would happily stay again when visiting the area.

Review 54:An old world pub with old world charm. Chris and Sarah were lovely hosts. The food was excellent, all local produce, so fresh and tasty. Yes it is next to a factory, a jam factory, so the smell was divine. It closes in the afternoon so there is now noise at nights we had a very pleasant sleep. Ten bury town is 1/4 mile away. Lovely to walk around

Review 55:little noisy in room as bar directly below, nothing really to moan about

Review 56:clean , very modern rooms , breakfast fantastic, plenty of choice for evening meals, proprietors and staff brilliant

Review 57:Liked everything.

Review 58:Very nice country pub - small and friendly. Excellent food. The local honey and the chef's homemade jam and marmalade provided at breakfast was a really nice touch and the source of the food was given on the menu - all local. Everything has been thought of regarding the accommodation - very well equipped room which included a tray of essentials in the bathroom too. Again it was nice to have homemade biscuits provided along with fresh milk for tea and coffee. Everything was of a high standard and the owners and staff were very attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend the Rose & Crown.

Review 59:Very modern rooms in an old but amazing pub. Very comfortable with extra large thick towels. Wish we could of had dinner at the pub but we were too busy exploring the area of Tenbury and Ludlow. Would definitely stay there again. Slept with window open and did not have heavy traffic. So busy all day and slept through any truck traffic.

Review 60:The property is on a busy road and has a large factory next door, alittle unsightly. You may wish to bring ear plugs with you. To be fair the night I stayed the local farmers were rushing to get the harvest in before a big storm so worked around the clock which may have caused the road to be noisy.

Review 61:Rooms are excellent, newly fitted out whilst retaining old world charm of the building. Food is all cooked from scratch with loving care. The bar is very friend and beer prices are a breath of fresh air for a Londoner Like me.

Review 62:Very friendly welcome, lots of information given. Room was very spacious and well stocked. Triple glazed windows to keep out any noise. Lovely dining area. Big breakfast.

Review 63:As we were only here for a night passing through we could laugh about the location but in truth the photograph is very misleading as it is bound on three sides by a lorry park and factory and the third side a busy main road. However, it seemed very popular and everyone seemed to be in on the "don't mention the factory/road!"

Review 64:Food was excellent, staff were very pleasant and it was a friendly well run pub.

Review 65:A small dairy processing plant near by, which could be noisy at times but did not disturb us in any way. Location on main road junction.

Review 66:The room was spacious and comfortable - great attention to detail, e.g. fresh milk provided in the room for tea and coffee and free wi-fi. The bar and sitting area are comfortable and welcoming. The food is excellent - great menu imaginatively served. Good to have individually cooked breakfast. The staff are friendly and welcoming.

Review 67:Gorgeous room - we stayed in the same one last year. Lovely welcoming staff - nothing is too much trouble. We'll be back next year!

Review 68:The comfiness and convenience and the conviviality of the staff. We felt very much "at home" without the drudgery.

Review 69:Accomodating and friendly staff/owners. Real fires in the bar area. The room was clean. Excellent, very large breakfast.

Review 70:Staff very helpful and friendly, food excellent I would definitely stay there again

Review 88:Character of building

Review 89:Friendly & welcoming. Excellent quality rooms and a great breakfast. Decent pub food in the evening and good beer on tap.

Review 90:Everyone was so friendly, the room was very eccentric, it was great. The food was very good, we will be booking again.

Review 91:Such a shame that a factory has been built next to such a beautiful and historic building.

Review 92:The beautiful building and welcoming staff / owners.

Review 93:Everything was excellent. Staff and food were excellent.

Review 94:friendly pub with good food
