Reviews for Ambassadors Hotel

Review 1:Rooms are very basic. Tiny TV which can only be seen from one of the beds. Smell in the room very over powering. Nice smell but very strong. Gave me a bad headache.

Review 2:Comfy bed for the price. Friendly receptionist

Review 3:I arrived and eat late. The food was clearly pre-prepared and reheated.

Review 4:Room was quiet, clean and modern. A bit cold being in the basement, but there was heating.

Review 5:When we arrived we were given a room in the basement. No windows. I returned to reception and requested another room. We were given room 001 a room behind the kitchens which had a window looking onto a wall. It was cold and dark. There was a small electric heater which made no impact. We had to go back to reception and ask for additional heating. The TV also had no reception. This was definitely not a deluxe room which was paid for.

Review 6:We like that it was close to Gloucester Road tube station.

Review 7:We like everything here, nice place, very clean, near 2 stations. The staff were very helpful. Stay more than 1 week and was great. The breakfast is yammy, delicious.

Review 8:The kitchen was closed due to a gas problem, which meant that I had to go out again in search of dinner. Fortunately there's a nice little Italian restaurant around the corner. Breakfast was unimpressive, with cold toast.

Review 9:Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 10:Our bedroom was so small - it wasn't really a double room as you could not get in one side of the bed as it was pushed up against the wall. It was really a single room with a double bed in it. :(

Review 11:The staff at breakfast were EXTREMELY efficient and polite.

Review 12:It was noticeable that very few people using the bar and snack menu. A little over priced perhaps.

Review 13:The room and facilities within the room were good and well maintained.

Review 14:Would have preferred the walls in the room to have better noise insulation ... especially with rowdy guests next door!

Review 15:Conveniently located and a breeze to get around with the Grocer Road tube station 7mins walk away.

Review 16:The staff were so rude. Customer service wasn't the finest. The toilet is the room was blocked, and staff were aware of a plumbing problem on floor 5. After calling reception they sent a member of staff up to the room who's answer was "well it isn't going to be fixed until tomorrow, there's a toilet on the ground floor. We have no other rooms" which is obviously fabulous when you pay £200 for one night. Was quite a battle to get a new room, but when we did, it was next door with the same issue.

Review 17:Location, about 5 minute walk from the tube.

Review 18:Wi-Fi is poor so do not go if you are intending to stay in and use it. Rooms are on the small side so again, it is a brilliant place to stay but don't go and stay in the room for long periods!

Review 19:Location is just fantastic - near supermarkets, bus stops, tube station and only a 10 minute walk from the Natural History Museum. Staff are also really amiable to any request - moved us when the TV didn't work in the room.

Review 20:I was given a very small room in the basement with slow/poor wifi connection. There was a fuse box in the room which was 'humming' loudly permanently meaning it was difficult to sleep. The television stations did not work properly. The shower had two shower heads, neither of which had good pressure and the main one did not fit in the 'holder'. The bathroom does not have a mirror in front of the sink, making shaving a challenge. All in all a huge disappointment and not value for money.

Review 21:It's well located between two tube stations.

Review 22:Staff should be more relaxed, smile more even if they don't feel like the situation. Be sure that they understood what the customer said and ment ie improve their English language, dialogue.

Review 23:we stayed for 7 nights and had a double room; we have stayed here on 3 other occasions and were happy with our room; but this time , it was just too small and thus uncomfortable for 2 and no room for luggage for 2. I didn't even unpack. Nevertheless, I would stay again and try to arrange a bigger room.

Review 24:the location, breakfast and the staff were efficient and helpful

Review 25:Rude staff very small basement room no windows ceiling to low for my partner who is only 5"10 dirty bathroom very expensive breakfast not good and had to sit in reception not even the bar or very small restaurant area

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:Havin just one small lift for a medium sized hotel, Is insufficient , I spent several minutes on many occasions waiting either waiting to go up or down, :(

Review 28:The room was exttremelly small and was not possible to use WiFi they have 7 diferent and non is working properly but they are all on, all night long .this is terrible for you body and min.

Review 29:* Expensive food & drinks in bar/restaurant area. * Slow WiFi * My double room would be small for two

Review 30:* Clean * Good location for museums, underground * Quiet room, nice area, comfortable, warm * OK continental breakfast included

Review 31:The matresses were a bit firm, and the heating was a bit too warm (but I guess this would be good in colder weather).

Review 32:Very clean, tidy, and the rooms have probably been recently refurbished. Location was great, and an overall excellent stay!

Review 33:The room was small, but that was not much of an issue since we spend most of our time out exploring the city (we only went back to the hotel for sleeping). One bad experience is that the Wi-fi Internet on the 6th floor was horrible. It disconnects every time you lock your phone and it is as slow as dial-up connection. Overall impossible to use. You would expect better internet from an overall nice hotel.

Review 34:Beautifully situated hotel very close to earl's court subway station with very good connection to the rest of the city. Overall the hotel facilities and staff are satisfying. The room was kind of small but the bed was very comfortable.

Review 35:Lobby very smart but rooms on our floor run down and need refurbishment. Also booking on the day rather than 2 months ahead was cheaper which was frustrating.

Review 36:Location and helpful staff

Review 37:Very poor wi-fi. We changed room due to this, but the new room was not better. Hardly any contact with the internet at all during three days. Do not choose this hotel if you plan to use your laptop, ipad or mobile for internet connection.

Review 38:I made a reservation last night for to stay one night (tonight) 03/12/2015. Unfortunately I was taken to hospital last night for an emergency operation, I called this morning first thing to cancel my reservation as I am too ill to travel and stay overnight. To my extreme disappointment I was shocked to hear that the hotel would take payment of £79 from my account even though I cancelled and the room is available for resale. I have stayed before and would be a repeat customer of booking.com and also The Ambassador Hotel in 16 Collingham Road. I find it unbelievable that they can gain profit out of someone’s ill health even though the room is still available for resale. Unless you can find a satisfactory resolution I will take the matter further and certainly will never do business again. Also I will be contacting trip advisor and leaving my review of this unfair disgusting practice. Surely this is an extenuating circumstance and allowances should be made. Please see attached my booking reservation and a picture of my hospital tag as proof. Please can we resolve this and get rid of the bad taste you have left me feeling. In my view you are punishing a sick man for something out of his control and gaining profit which is just not right

Review 39:Room was very small, it was set up for three of us, with 3 very tiny single beds. The internet did not work as we were in the basement.

Review 40:Staff were efficient and welcoming.

Review 41:There was nothing to dislike about about it. I had a good room rate which it what I wanted for that trip.

Review 42:The position was excellent, plenty of restaurant around within walking distance as well as various choise of underground stations.

Review 43:No free wifi - sort it out please!

Review 44:Great location, friendly staff and clean rooms. Does exactly what it says on the tin. Don't understand the negative reviews. If you want the Ritz, book the Ritz not a 3 star place in Earl's Court.

Review 45:The TV reception was appaling the only clear station received was BBC1 the rest just pixilated or couldn't get any signal and the continental breakfast was very basic

Review 46:Location of the hotel was convenient for the tube

Review 47:some of the staff weren't the friendliest i've ever encounted and wasn't overly impressed with breakfast

Review 48:location was good and room was comfortable very nice

Review 49:Lack of lighting in the room and the closeness to the lift - It was very noisy and I had a very broken sleep.

Review 50:the location, the staff and the cost. This place is always a winner for me.

Review 51:had dinner twice, both times food was very poor. Dined second time through necessity not choice and would not have done so if had any other possibility sink was extremely small and no tables or shelves to put anything on

Review 52:bed was comfortable ,room was warm and there was lots of hot water

Review 53:Gets rather busy at breakfast, could do with more seats.

Review 54:Lovely atmosphere, located within 3-5 mins walk from the tube station, great value for money (stayed in a double delux room). Taxi service provided by the hotel.

Review 55:No communication from staff about facilities. Booking included free wifibut posters in hotel stated there was a charge. Unable to get accessunless made another trip down to the front desk. This should have beencommunicated on arrival. Room very small, carpet bleach stainedfacilities poor.

Review 56:Central location

Review 57:I didnt like the breakfast. There is no salad or cheese or tomato. Nowarm breakfast. When I was eating breakfast , there was a guy took hisfood sit down to eat then came the staff and said he do not havebreakfast included. He was informed £10. The breakfast not worth it.Outside they have better breakfast range for the amount.

Review 58:The staff was very helpful. When I ask for blanket or charger . Helpfulwith direction and able to check in earlier then the time said.

Review 59:Staff were unbelievably rude and stubborn no understanding and lack of communication from the start as they tried giving us a room we didn't pay for, he staff dont batt a eye lid at you not a hello or good morning.

Review 60:The room was okay we just used it to sleep in because we adventured the surrounding area and hoping on and off tubes so a tv and a bed did nicely but if you into a nice hotel to chill that offers luxury's then this is not the place for you.

Review 61:We got a basement-room. Fully equipped with shabby marks on the wall, loudly buzzing fuse-box, not so clean bathroom and a nice view with bits of garbage just outside. It was like going on to a ferry in 3rd class. We complained, were promised a upgrade the following day and compensation. We did get a upgrade but no compensation. The breakfast was horrible, everything contained sugar. EVERYTHING, the staff did not know what the contents were when asked and I payed a upgrade of 10 pounds for a very poor-cooked hot meal. As a diabetic this is really really dangerous and I had to eat loads of cheddar to at leasyt get something. The cleaning of the tables at breakfast consisted of wiping everything on the floor. Would not recommend this hotel... at all... The top was customer opinion with coffee-stains.... Woohooo!

Review 62:Slight smell of mould in bathroom (although I couldn't really see any). Toast wasn't well done enough at breakfast (although apart from this breakfast was basic but adequate, and good for the amount I paid).

Review 63:Really good value for money. Comfortable, clean room, good size bedroom and en suite. No issues with noise at all (which can be a problem in London!)

Review 64:The breakfast is not great and the tea and coffee was awful . Our room in the basement was located near the heating system which was fairly loud .

Review 65:The hotel is located near to the tube ,the museum district and Stamford Bridge . There are plenty of places to eat nearby .

Review 66:We had a bad experience from the receptionist staff on our last day. Our flight was scheduled to late afternoon, so we ask for the kindness to store our luggage until mid afternoon (a complementary service offered on every hotel we stayed). The receptionist told us that the luggage room was full, so we have to carry our luggage (one cabin bag and 2 hand bags) on that day which compromised our plans on that day. This was the first time we've experienced this bad situation in a hotel. Wi-Fi quality is very poor (downloading a 100 Kbs e-mail took 10 minutes). The room has no towel racks, and the bathtub was damaged.

Review 67:Location of the hotel and breakfast quality.

Review 68:We had several problems during our stay, I would not recommend this hotel. We had to change rooms several times due to overbooking and other problems. The heat was not working in the second room we got. There was a 15 minute wait in order to get a table for breakfast the first morning. No free Wi-Fi at the hotel, something you expect from a metropolitan hotel in year 2015. The worst thing we experienced was that when we came to pick up our luggage from the luggage room on departure, one of our bags where gone. The staff had handed out the wrong bag even though they had a ticket system for all bags. The staff members did not act as if they had any responsibility of the bag being lost.

Review 69:I requested a little bit of romance in our room but when we opened the door the room was plain without nothing. Furthermore the bed are really uncomfortable, the breakfast is really poor.

Review 70:The hotel was good for the money. The staff nice and the location is perfect near to the tube station.

Review 71:the size of the room is not as described on the booking.com website. Also . The shower was so small I could hardly move,, Although clean it was looking so old and drainage was slow

Review 72:cleanliness and easy access to central london

Review 73:Window cannot be opened and heating pipes are quite noisy which can be very annoying during the night. It seems like there's something that vibrates inside the walls... That needs to be inspected and fixed.

Review 74:Room was comfortable and very clean with spacious bathroom, several towels provided and including a bathtub. Wifi and continental breakfast included in the rate. You can also ask reception staff to have your breakfast packed and ready to be taken away.

Review 75:Room was a lot smaller than it looked - when I was walking into a 'deluxe single room' I was very disappointed with the size. Not enough lighting. Without normal wardrobe.

Review 76:Location and cleanliness, continental breakfast was good, but could be better.

Review 77:the rooms don't match the pictures posted. In our case (deluxe room) was so small that there was only a small "wardrobe" without doors, a bathroom with a wash basin.

Review 78:Breakfast

Review 79:Room layout bad as could not open bathroom door fully because the bed blocks it. Bathroom much too small for mature people, very cramped - we could just about sit down on the toilet!! If we had been staying more than 1 night we would have asked to be moved.

Review 80:Staff helpful & efficient. Clean overall. Comfortable bed. Good continental breakfast.

Review 81:Dirty room, also tiny. Very shabby with chipped paintwork everywhere upstairs and in room. Very sloppy repairs in room and bathroom

Review 82:Location and tube connections good. Good eateries nearby

Review 83:location near 2 tube stations, Rooms are basic, but very clean and they have all the facilities that you require, continental breakfast included each morning, not huge variety on offer, but sufficient, friendly staff and provided secure luggage storage on the day of departure

Review 84:No complaints.

Review 85:Quiet, pleasant location. Not too far from Underground and centrally located for our planned activities. Helpful staff. Good value for money - tiny rooms, but adequate unless you plan to work or otherwise spend a lot of time in the room

Review 86:Lady receptionist on evening I arrived Wednesday 25th November was rude. Fortunately the male receptionist assisted with a smile instead of walking away as she had done!

Review 87:the room was very "cosy" but the shower unit was extremely small.you could Not turn in the shower and i nearly fell twice.I am only 5ft2 and small so how a burly person would manage is terrible

Review 88:I liked the location of the hotel and reception area

Review 89:It's not really a 'bad experience', but I would have liked a little more choice of fresh fruit at breakfast... Something more than just green apples for instance.

Review 90:The hotel was easy to find. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was of a good standard.

Review 91:The room was pretty small though as well as the restaurant where they serve the breakfast as much as it was an uncomfortable experience there. The hotel was packed with tourist at that time and it was like queueing at Mcdonalds. Barely room to move and sit at the table. I had to share it with another guest there. Wifi was bad too.

Review 92:Very close to museums and shopping centre. Clean room with facilities for coffee and tea. Nice shower. Friendly staff.

Review 93:As would be expected - and certainly for North Americans, room is small - for one great - for two - you would have to get on extremely well!

Review 94:Very close to everything in London. Room very clean and comfortable. Fresh croissants for breakfast wonderful. Good internet and lift. Lobby very pleasant. Staff most helpful

Review 95:Facilities were of very low standard,no value for money. I chose a delux suite in what I thought was a great location however it was difficult to find and the rooms were definitely below the advertised standard.

Review 96:Staff member tried his best to accommodate us.

Review 97:Our 1st bedroom was equivalent to a broom cupboard. Our 2nd a little bigger, however, the corridors look like a war zone.

Review 98:The entrance, reception and breakfast areas. A plentiful continental breakfast with good staff always available.

Review 99:Room was a lot smaller than it looked - when I was walking into a 'deluxe double room'I was very disappointed with the size WiFi was advertised as chargeable however on the very last day we we're informed it was actually free of charge but they still had posters all over stating it was chargeable! Mattress was not very comfortable and pillows we're small and flimsy Very expensive if you want a breakfast (if you don't have it included)

Review 100:Lovely reception and had bar and late night room service if needed Very close to tube station and museum's

Review 101:Delux double bedroom was a glorified broom cupboard in the basement. We were told that this was one of the larger rooms!!! Tiny wardrobe didn't have doors because there wasn't room for them. Hot water at the sink took 20 mins to come through. Shower leaked under the frame all over the floor. Included breakfast was continental only. It was an extra £10 each for Full English so we Breakfasted out instead. Electric meter box buzzed and hummed all night.

Review 102:Shower was powerful

Review 103:A few issues with holding money before we arrived and taking a long time to release but sorted after a few phone calls and they upgraded a room to apologise

Review 104:Nice rooms, great location

Review 105:Very good location, the hotel is very close to Hyde Park and Earl's Court subway station. The rooms are extremely small. The staff is friendly but do not expect anything special.

Review 106:The staff weren't NOT friendly, but they weren't exactly extremely welcoming, but overall not bad (didn't say much)

Review 107:The room was nice and cosy, comfortable bed, posh lobby and good value for money

Review 108:Single room was small however not too small. My only issue was the bathroom- there was no room to really sit on the toilet as it was crammed next to the sink and the water pressure was very poor.

Review 109:Excellent location, easily situated close to tube stations. Very clean hotel and very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 110:Clean but pokey little room, dread to think what the economy room would be like as I upgraded. Shower was scolding hot, cooked breakfast was poor. No where to park and staff didn't know where the nearest parking was.

Review 111:There is nothing. This is a first class hotel.

Review 112:The hotel was within good walking distance for the tube. On arrival we were greeted by a warm welcome. The hotel was very clean and the staff all friendly and helpful.Continental breakfast was delicious with plenty to choose from.

Review 113:The room was meant to be a deluxe but was in the basement and was very dark. The mattresses were far to soft and the beds kept moving every time you turned over. The room looked out to the back yard which was not very nice. The tv was too dark and you coul not change the colour or contrast

Review 114:It was clean

Review 115:Booked a deluxe double room, paid £89 for one night, only to find two single beds pushed together. Not a comfortable nights sleep as a result. Staff, although smiling, seemed dismissive and gave one word answers. On checking out was told "ok,just leave the card and you can go". Ok then, bye.

Review 116:Very clean and modern throughout. Short walk from Gloucester Road tube station. Local amenities within a minute stroll.

Review 117:No bad experiencies but cannot understand why bar prices are so ridiculous for guests. However all London hotels are the same.

Review 118:Very pleasant efficient staff. Room comfortable and very clean. Continental style breakfast good. Coffee good. Also location very good for Earls Court and numerous museums.

Review 119:As I was suffering from a cold, it would have been nice if the central heating was on in my room, as It did feel a little chilly in the mornings.

Review 120:Room, staff perfect

Review 121:The internet is not free of charge even at the bar and the lobby. It cost £1/ hour. Leaving the baggauge is not free either. We need to pay £5 pounds?

Review 122:Room is clean but not spacious?

Review 123:Booked a double room a month before our arrival, but because of overbooking we were given a triple deluxe. Not too shabby, until we found out that the room was below ground, no windows. I asked to change room, and they moved us upstairs the next day.

Review 124:Wifi was not free and there was eventually a strong smell of cleaning products.

Review 125:Both of our rooms were tiny and simple but really comfortable. Really practical if you are not going to spend a lot of time in the hotel. The placement of the hotel couldn't have been better, just 5 minutes walking away from Gloucester Road station.

Review 126:1. The fact that we were asked to pay on check-in for our whole 5 day stay was very insulting & rude! As if we would check-out without paying!2. Our room was so small that there was hardly any space to move even though it was a standard double room! 3. The room was SO HOT like a sauna and there was no heater control and no air-con as well. Also the curtains were so thick and windows could not be opened completely. Absolutely no air flow within the room! Thankfully we got a table-fan! 4. Breakfast was so sad, really sad! 5. Internet had to be paid - 1 GBP for 1 hour or 5 GBP for 24hrs and only one person can use it at a time. So we chose to activate our Data Roaming only when needed. 6. Should be rated as a 2-star for its value and facilities! 7. Such a bad view from our 5th floor window. 8. Probably this is the reason we have to pay our stay on check-in so the hotel ensures you do not check-out after one day of stay!

Review 127:1. Location was ok...6-7min walk to Earls Court station.2. Cleanliness was ok too. 3. Staff was kind enough to provide a 'Table Fan' as the room was so hot! 4. The only economical hotel we could get for our 5-day stay but we kept looking for another hotel till 2 days before as well! 5. Thank you for the tea-coffee facility & daily cleaning! 6. Might be ok for individual travelers! That's about it for what we liked!

Review 128:Very small room, the hotel gave us a room in the -1 floor (I didn't know that was even possible). Far from everything. Expensive.

Review 129:Comfortable bedroom.

Review 130:Stayed in the ground floor poor lighting in the room No phone reception at all and the window was facing directly at a wall not a nice view at all

Review 131:Good location and friendly staff

Review 132:Shower was hard to figure out. Two of us took 5 minutes to get it going. Kettle switch had to be held down to boil. Springs in the matress could be felt through the duvet.

Review 133:Lovely clean and well presented double room. En suite clean and tidy. Was glad the window opened as it was very warm. Location close to buses and underground. Good choices for continental breakfast.

Review 134:No safe box in the room, no mini bar, no water, very small room and smallest toilet in the world, no internet and you cannot keep ur bags in the hotel ull be charged. All this is nothing comparing with the rude receptionist lady, i dont know how they hire such people in customer service as she didnt learnt the basics of customer service as smiling and welcoming residents. She dudnt allow me to stay in the lobby and if i want to keep my bag she has yo charge me 10 pounds. As i know i was in London not in other country the service should be excellent

Review 135:Nothing, the worst hotel ever i have been to. Only i can say that the room service are the only nice people and thing in this hotel.

Review 136:Sound isolation in the room was terrible from inside and outside, we could hear every word from the neighboring room as well as each car on the street. WiFi costs 5 pounds per day per device! The room was very small, so small that we could not use the table there to work: a chair doesn't fit in front of it, because of the bed almost touching it. The lightening in the room is very poor, it is half dark. A small reading light is lightening very small area - it was hard to read. The cold water preasure in the shower was very weak, practically it was just dropping. The sink was partly blocked. The hotel charges your credit card upon arrival. The reception personal was not very friendly.

Review 137:Only cleaning lady was friendly
