Reviews for Grosvenor Hotel Rugby
Review 1:this hotel is a combination of adjacent houses and as such has a multitude of doors and stairs, of various widths, to handle the differences in heights of floor levels.I was touring the UK in early December and being from overseas I was packing a very large travel bag, which presented difficulties getting it to my room as there is no elevator.
Review 2:shower didn't work, toilet constantly flushing, curtain rail hanging off. charged us three times and struggled to get our money back. only one lady proficient in speaking English
Review 3:position
Review 4:Poor wi-fi noisy with traffic - needs double glazing strange unidentified low frequency noise at night
Review 5:super sunken bath lovely receptionist (possibly management) car park at back
Review 6:Some 'noise' a couple of evenings in the bar area that was a pain and uncalled for
Review 7:Restaurant empty most nights but food is fantastic and value for money.
Review 8:Single glazed windows windows painted shut in room. Quality of furnishings cheap (bed etc.) and overall hotek in need of an extensive makeover. Staff pleasant.
Review 9:close enough to railway station to walk
Review 10:Shower was cold.
Review 11:Clean, comfortable, good-sized room for the four of us. Friendly bar man. Free parking useful in a town setting. Short walk from the town. Excellent value for money.
Review 12:Absolutely shocking disgraceful attitude the staff on duty at the timehad...My 2 young children were reduced to tears witnessing the way wewere talked to at 10.30pm! &Quot;i think you should stay elsewhere"thats what a manager said!
Review 13:Nothing!
Review 14:The bedroom was very small and the shower only adequate for a very slim person! The toilet managed to block itself during our second night and it was unacceptable. The receptionist did not help when she uttered the famous words "sorry about that" and then took instructions on a very modest financial refund. Breakfast was quite good but my wife only had a bacon sandwich in her room which I made and took to her from food which I may myself have eaten but they still charged a full breakfast rate for it.
Review 15:Very dated. Tv didn't work, no power to bed side lamp, water temp in shower either stupidly hot or cold with mm of adjustment, plumbing made a very loud noise every time the toilet was flushed and lasted for 10 mins. Last stayed here 2 years ago and swore that I wouldn't stay again for some of the above reasons. Forced to stay again as last resort. May consider sleeping in my car next time.....
Review 16:Location
Review 17:Building and amenities in very poor condition. Paper coming off ceiling in our room, bathroom had holes under bath tub. Needs a lot of work and money spending on it.
Review 18:Couldn't get curtains to close, tv not working. Staff member promptly attended to both
Review 19:Convenient location on way back to London. Staff very helpful
Review 20:The staff were all friendly, attentive and helpful.I left a phone charger in my room. I contacted the staff and they posted it to me. I have put a non committal answer for facilities. I only stayed one night so apart from the bar and restaurant which were very good I didn't use any other facilities.
Review 21:I asked for a couple more towels as the bath towels supplied were very small I was told that we would have more brought to our room, but they never appeared, and we had to make do with the original ones. There was also a problem with the bed being on wheels, and on a wooden floor, as we were watching the television, and relaxing, the bed would roll across the floor.
Review 22:The hotel was clean and acceptable. The food was excellent and most of the staff were very accommodating.
Review 23:Constant smell&noise from kitchen. Opened bathroom window&got flooded&all the dirt came in from window, no soap, lumpy beds&pillows, need new curtains&bedding as i had two huge holes in my duvet cover. Needs done up to look fresh.
Review 24:Good coffees from bar. Big window that opened wide. Staff lovely&friendly.
Review 25:Ended up sleeping on the floor - less bumpy and more comfortable than the bed. Water flow in shower so weak it was difficult to wash.Wifi almost impossible to access from room. Not good for business use.
Review 26:Proximity to town centre. Staff's professionalism on arrival was excellent.
Review 27:Our experience was ok. The bed was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful but the hotel felt tired, perhaps a little "clinical" and "inexperienced". Front desk was often unmanned and the bell didn't get a prompt response.
Review 28:the evening meal was lovely.
Review 29:The night's stay was very over priced for what you got, the bathroom was mouldy and needed a good clean. The windows let far too much traffic noise through them. Lock on the door didn't work very well. No spare pillows and would expect with price we paid to have soap and toiletries.
Review 30:Bed was comfy, the girls on the counter were very helpful and friendly.
Review 31:The room was only partially refurbished. Bathroom taps were hopeless and loo flush poor. Old jagged disused shower holder (?) on wall by present shower. Ceiling in room needs attention. Breakfast OK but not terribly inspiring. No brown toast or side plate. Coffee not great..
Review 32:Good welcome. Pleasant bright, modern décor downstairs and curry one evening was fine.
Review 33:Our room although clean was a little tired, bath panel, toilet seat and bin could all do with replacing
Review 34:Receptionist very helpful and pleasant and breakfast was reasonable.
Review 35:Bed was rock hard, also caught my foot on a raised screw on entrance to the bathroom. Room was very bland with no pictures and no black out blinds.
Review 36:The reception was very modern, pity the bedrooms weren't as updated.
Review 37:We were given a room where a pervious occupant had taken the key and had not returned it and for the safety of us I don't think that was good
Review 38:Staff were were friendly and polite.
Review 39:Breakfast ...poor quality for price. 1 egg, 1 rasher of bacon, 1 hashbrown half tomoato and slice of black pudding , old looking mushrooms..Toast anemic! coffee cold..lLady brought another cup and i stuck my finger in it without milk cold again...They must have made it at 8am and left it there till closing..it was in a thermal coffee jug...better if we had hot water and made our own as it was like treacle. She offered me another cup and i declined. Bar area ..dismal. needs plants to brighten up furniture. and make it more welcoming
Review 40:Staff.- Doretta on reception - excellent service even carried our luggage upstairs.. Boy in the restaurant very pleasant and the lady on breakfast who made us REAL ginger tea, as they had no herbal teas. Nice big room with tea and coffee facilities. Very very comfy...BIG double bed. Free Car parking facilities.Location close to shops.
Review 41:Wifi non existent in room, shabby net curtains with holes, bed hard and pillows flat and of little use,all in all everything a little jaded and in need of a bit of a revamp
Review 42:Staff were friendly and helpful, extensive food menu which was ok nothing outstanding and produce could have been better. Value for money but could be so much better
Review 43:The first impression from the front garden was one of neglect. The floorboards in the bedroom were very noisy.
Review 44:Large room and bathroom. 10min walk to Rugby shops. Ideal stop for us after spending a week on a canal boat. We had 2 excellent dinners at the restaurant attached. Laundrymat 5-10mins down the hill. Large car park. Appears the owners are gradually modernising from the ground floor up.
Review 45:Noisy, & rancid food smells in the evening. A bed that moved away from head board with pillows falling on floor. No plug in sink. Cramped bathroom. Cheap 'fatty' sausage & 'hard' poached egg spoiled breakfast. (Room 6)
Review 46:Wifi good. Plenty of hot water. Ample Parking. General appearance of hotel & decor good. Staff friendly & efficient.
Review 47:Lacked finesse, several of the light bulbs needed changing, curtains were hanging off their track. At breakfast had to ask for milk, orange juice, serviette. My mother in her eighties slept in the single bed which was lumpy and had springs poking through
Review 48:Friendly staff and clean premises
Review 49:Everything in the room was broken the shower was cold and the radiator made a dripping noise all night , the double bed was tiny , breakfast was £7.60 each not thanks
Review 50:Bed was on wheels so couldnt sit in bed and watch tv as bed moved away from wall...heating not working..radiator in bathroom leaking rust coloured water..
Review 51:Staff nice..location.
Review 52:No lift and bedrooms quite a trek for older or less mobile folk
Review 53:Friendly, very accommodating staff. Very comfortable bed and cleanliness. Rooms lovely.
Review 54:Room door lock, cloakroom basin in a double room toilet.hassled to buy the breakfast, radiator cold until 6pm,no remote control for Tv.better value Elsewhere.
Review 55:Free car park
Review 56:Extractor outside room very noisy and couldn't sleep because of it. Windows old, not double glazed, so did not deaden any outside noises. I would stay again, but not in the front facing rooms.
Review 57:Friendly staff.
Review 58:The only thing I didn't enjoy was the breakfast wasn't really filling
Review 59:Brilliant friendliness of the staff could help you enough anything I needed they would bend over backwards to help
Review 60:Felt like a Victorian prison sell. Pictures on walls of crying children didn't make it too welcoming... A solid wooden base replacing slats on the bed (for some reason were missing) Opened the door on the wardrobe and it lent to one side. Bathroom door opened and banged into dresser every Time. A hairdryer provided looked like something ghost busters used. Very pretty blue lighting on the exterior of the hotel - blinding from the inside. Door didn't lock or shut properly - felt very in safe , mattress was torn open (probably full of bugs) Paid £70 and left after 1 hour. Truly awful. And awful parking outside I must say.
Review 61:Nothing !
Review 62:My only complaint is that the bathroom in our room was a little small and dark.
Review 63:We came here for a big family lunch with lots of children and the staff were very accommodating. The Indian food was very tasty and good value. The bar area was comfortable. The room we stayed in was a good size.
Review 64:The only negative was that the shower was weak.
Review 65:We stayed one night to surprise family living in area, would definitely stay here again, staff friendly and helpful, and we thought value for money good smart
Review 66:Bed was lying at an angle nearly fell out with roll, shower very week, heating was not working in room given an electric heater by staff.
Review 67:Likes the food and bar area. Staff.
Review 68:The room was freezing cold, even though we had the heater on. bad draft from the window. Bed was on wheels and just sitting on it it kept moving! had no plug in our sink. would not stay again, vaule for money was poor. paid £70+ for one night and breakfast. Paid £49 at another hotel and vaule for money was 1000x better.
Review 69:all staff was lovely and very welcoming.
Review 70:The bathroom was very smelly. The hotel itself is noisy due to creaking floors and guests coming and going. Lighting in the hallways could be dimmer as it shines underneath your room door.
Review 71:Location is good.
Review 72:I WAS DISSAPPOINTED WITH THE WAY THE BREAKFAST WAS GIVEN.TOAST WAS OFFERED BY THE SLICE - HAD TO ASK FOR MORE-ONE BACON RASHER-SPOONFULL OF BEANS-AND SOME OF THE CUPS ON UNUSED TABLES WERE DIRTY ?
Review 73:THE LOCATION WAS GOOD FOR MY VISIT AND NOT VERY FAR FROM THE TOWN CENTRE THIS ENABLED MR TO WALK TO WHERE I WANTED
Review 74:Heating not working in bedroom. Shower water barely lukewarm. Light not working above bathroom mirror. Bathroom door wouldn't shut properly because hinges had dropped. Light not working in half of the room, as no bulb in it. Drawers did not shut properly and had handles missing. Curtain shabby and missing fittings.
Review 75:Location to party we were attending.
Review 76:Some of the fittings are tired and the heating might be a little hot in room for some (I prefer this to cold though). Pipes made a very loud noise when flushing toilet? Thankful this wasn't heard during the night.
Review 77:Very competitive rate for the level of quality, large car park and very easy to locate. Level of fit out is as you'd expect but I had a very good, quiet night's sleep and an adequate/good continental breakfast for only £5 extra.
Review 78:Single room badly in need of modernisation. No bedside light bulb and no light shade on the ceiling light. Duvet only just wide enough to cover the single bed and 2 very small pillars. Shower in bath but no curtain or shower mat, toilet seat a poorly fitting cheap plastic replacement, water only look warm.
Review 79:Friendly staff especially considering a late check-in and early breakfast
Review 80:Tiles off in bathroom no hot water bath dirty toilet was thick with brown scum curtain rail not fixed to wall very old furniter only mirror was in bathroom left as soon as we woke up breakfast was expencive for what u got would not go back unless huge changes were made
Review 81:Room was very stuffy and warm. Carpet looked worn. Bed was too soft. If you have issues with your knees, there are too many stairs!
Review 82:Large bedroom. Good shower - however trying to figure out how it worked took some time! Hotel has great character.
Review 83:Excellent service from the staff. The lady on reception was very friendly and made us feel welcome. The room was clean and very comfortable and just what we needed for an overnight stay
Review 84:nothing to complain
Review 85:Staff is helpfull and friendly, the holte is old, the rooms are small, but clean. Dont expect one of those modern-plastic-unpersonal hotels. The restaurant is just great, dont miss it!
Review 86:rooms dirty, curtain rail broken in room 4, bottom of divan very dirty, bar very expensive, at breakfast no vegetarian choice despite stating at time of booking one of the party was vegetarian. We are well seasoned travellers and The Grosvenor was one of the worst we have stayed in.
Review 87:location for town centre and the venue we were attending
Review 88:place itself was looking tired. we had to leave early (before breakfast) they gave us sandwiches but we threw them away as they were very soggy at not at all appertising.
Review 89:staff were very good and food in restaurant was excellant
Review 90:Being mature travellers we found the steep staircase, 3 stories worth, a bit difficult.
Review 91:There was a good sized car park, the Staff were polite and helpful, the food was good and we enjoyed the charm of the historic building.
Review 92:Property has only recently changed owner and badly needs refurbishment. It all seemed a bit chaotic and room could have been cleaner.
Review 93:Location is quite central and good for Silverstone which was purpose of our trip. It was easy to reach shops and restaurants on foot.
Review 94:The room was very clean but a quite uncomfy mattress, no plug for the sink (so don't drop anything!) and lots of hot water but couldn't get the shower to work. Bath was great. So perhaps each room needs a little attention.
Review 95:New management who were very helpful indeed. Hotel has lots of potential. Had good reviews about the food there too.
Review 96:The room was in a very poor state. Needs complete renovation. Cold bathroom with towel rail that could not be turned on.
