Reviews for Wendover Arms Hotel

Review 1:No food as was not explained that kitchen was being redone.this should have been mentioned at the time of booking. Cold showers. No space in therror room at all. No compensation for any of this.

Review 2:Nothing

Review 3:Need curtains at window to block outside lights, pictures on the wall to make it more homely. However that could be down to only just being finished in time for Christmas with the basics.

Review 4:Location, price, room size for 2 adults & 2 kids that's room 24.

Review 5:Overall was a good experience and will definitely re book for next year which I couldn't say the same for premier inn!

Review 6:Staff very friendly and helpful even checking in st 1am in the morning.

Review 7:The road noise might be a problem for some but you are on a main road. For me it was some distance from the railway station.

Review 8:The room 20 was excellent seemed to have been newly refurbished. Very comfortable double bed good, fine en suite bathroom new TV and useable WiFi. The room was not spacious but adequate room for one.

Review 9:Construction work still not complete.

Review 10:Friendly staff ever ready to help. Hence, homely atmosphere. Easy access to the room from the car park avoiding the main hall is another plus factor. We will definitely come back when possible.

Review 11:The room and bath room were very small and there was not any evening meals on site

Review 12:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable

Review 13:I have never been in such a small cramped hotel room. The bathroom was new but badly finished with lots of sharp edges from poorly laid tiles. No shelves or rails either and price tags still on the sink and loo. The shower was a joke, there is more room in a coffin! Only one small hanging rail for clothes directly over the kettle.

Review 14:The rooms were spotless with comfortable beds and the staff very helpful and pleasant.

Review 15:Rooms were really really small this is not a hotel it's a pub with rooms to let out on a housing estate. No where to eat dinner did give us take away menus. All the locals were in the bar in the evening so did not feel you could sit in the bar. So had to sit in the very small box room with a view of over the building site as they were having work done to the pub.

Review 16:It was very clean staff very helpful

Review 17:Staff met outside for smoking breaks throughout the night and were chatting and laughing outside our window which was really noisy and annoying

Review 18:Lovely warm welcome on arrival and nice bar area Room was really spacious and the bathroom too! Really surprised at the good value for money. Bed was really comfortable and the room was clean.

Review 19:The shower room appeared nice and modern although smelt as though someone had been smoking in it and the temperature gauge wouldn't adjust so ended up splashing boiling to wash as was too hot to stand under. The walls are paper thin and spent them night listening to the man next door going to toilet and snoring.

Review 20:The room although small was clean and comfortable.

Review 21:No usable socket for kettle. Terrible smell in room. Work men all over hotel, Materials for refurbishment everywhere. Woke up at 6.45 by work men outside room when we requested quiet room. No breakfast even though we had booked.

Review 22:Moved to sister hotel

Review 23:unfriendly staff, took days of nagging to get a VAT receipt, very small room, no evening restaurant, woken up early by construction work, very noisy bar

Review 24:fairly clean

Review 25:Were do I start? the hotel is a building site. It's an old pub and they are having an extension put on. The polish builders were at it from 630am hammering and drilling and making a noise. The walls inside the pub are dripping wet. some or most of the light and plug sockets in the corridoors have exposed wires with the water running down the walls. We booked 2 twin rooms. Both were very small, and basic. Not fit for 1 person let alone 2 adults. The matresses were very hard. One bedroom had a damp mouldy wall and the matress was damp. None of us had a good nights sleep and the builders just took the george michael. We have reported this hotel to health and safety. Whoever reviews this feedback for booking.com, i would suggest sending someone out to review yoursef as it is not, or was not on our visit, fit for resedential stays, it was dangerous.

Review 26:they was plenty of parking

Review 27:Arrived to a building site at the back of property no mention of this on the booking information. Limited food available despite a large sign saying 'fresh food available all day' ! No nearby restaurants within walking distance. Lighting in the room inadequate, more hooks shelving in the bathroom required, not sure if the room was still under renovation, position of TV inappropriate.

Review 28:Location, it was easy to find.

Review 29:Booking in and entrance to guest rooms through a saloon bar, felt like a sideshow for locals.

Review 30:Nice new clean room if a little sparse and small but adequate for a weary travelers looking to stay, out of London city.

Review 31:The room was booked as a double room but was a tiny room with a double bed with very little room to move around. The carpet in the corridor was wet and smelt very badly and the carpet drying machine was operating 24 hours from when we arrived until we left two days later. Very hard to sleep and still very smelly. We mentioned it to the bar manager but nothing was done. The workmen arrived on Monday morning at 7.00am outside our window. You get what you pay fir but this was way below standard and othe tenants also complained. Would not recommend until work is completed.

Review 32:The price was good and location was convenient fir our itinerary

Review 33:The fact the hotel is under a major re-vamp which isn't advertised, noise,NO restaraunt which isn't advertised,No wi-fi intense building shouting and machinery noise from 7am!

Review 34:Absolutely nothing

Review 35:IT STANK. Building work is going on so I presume this caused the stink in the corridor leading from bar to rooms 1 to 10. The smell while not apparent within the bedroom or bar/dining area put me off so I didn't bother to eat at the hotel. The work also meant that the back of the building and car park were unlit which I thought was unsafe. Otherwise clean and tidy for the price. It will probably be okay once the building work is done and the sewerage pipes are fixed.

Review 36:Easy enough to find and to get into town.

Review 37:Hard bed, poor pillows, didn't realise no food available on sunday eve, plastic covered building materials outside window meant very noisy during the night when it rained

Review 38:Room was clean and well decorated

Review 39:stayed here last year for same trip to Wembley challenge cup final and was very happy with hotel so I rebooked it this year. Rooms excellent and also staff

Review 40:The window of the room we were supposed to get couldn't be opened. It had a window that can never be opened so this room has never been aired and that is how it smelled. When I complained the receptionist first said that I agreed to this in the terms of my booking. I then got a room with a window that opened but all windows - in three rooms - were dirty - inside and outside. Besides, rooms are two small for two people. We were a family of four who all disliked the place.

Review 41:The breakfast was absolutely appalling. Staff were disinterested. I was hastled by staff at 9.00pm by a knock on my door to change room. I was traumatised as I was asleep!! Very nasty experience.

Review 42:The room was quiet, which was requested by me. Can't think of anything else

Review 43:I had specified a travel cot when booking but the hotel didn't have one, however the manager made every effort to resolve the problem.

Review 44:Our room had great bathroom/ wetroom. Spacious bedroom with super flat screen TV. Very friendly staff.

Review 45:The area was not very nice. Told to keep side door shut at night because of undesirables coming in. Smoking area directly under our bedroom window so smoke came in and could hear talking outside.Room tiny my husband said we had'nt been this close in 20yrs!!

Review 46:The room was fairly new and clean.

Review 47:Room extremely small -bit of tight squeeze! Dark in hallway -could have done with a light.

Review 48:Not too far from town centre also regular buses to town(bus-stop outside) .Good parking-space .High Wycombe is ideal for touring the area.

Review 49:Excellent value for money. Good quality room for a great price, just the job. Staff really helpful. If you need a place to stay over on business, this would fit the bill.

Review 50:The price. But this is the problem of staying near London the cost of hotels b&b are rising so fast and booking and late rooms taking 15% all adds to the price.

Review 51:The location was good, good car park with cctv. The room was clean and comfy but very small but for 1 night it was fine.

Review 52:wifi limited and had difficulty gaining access; no way to control heating in room which was airless; difficulty finding entrance/ reception - no signage and car park was hidden

Review 53:The room was clean and tidy as was the shower room. The twin room was very cramped to get past table for refreshments with cases which had to be stored on floor blocking route to shower room. No details given of free wifi at registration.

Review 54:Really convenient for our destination. Car parking seemed plentiful. Book in was quick. Gentleman booking us in was very helpful.

Review 55:You had to walk through pub to get to stairs to the room, and there was a late night poker game going on. There was scaffolding, boarding which led to the first floor bedrooms and didn't make me feel particularly safe

Review 56:Nowhere to hang towels in the bathroom. Don't understand why they couldn't give me a business card for the Wendover which I could give to other prospective customers.

Review 57:Location well served by local buses also a short walk, 15 mins, to town centre. Room very clean and light, bed very comfortable. Liked the 24/7 as I had to leave at 5:15am on Monday morning.

Review 58:Staff not very helpful on the premises. As this was a business stay I wanted an invoice which they were not able to provide me with, asked me to email requesting it and I then had to follow up with a call to obtain it - not very professional.

Review 59:Clean comfortable room which had recently been refurbished.

Review 60:The noise from the bar on the Friday night a continual boom boom . The smokers just outside the door of the barade

Review 61:Comfortable clean room shower very good stayed for 2 nights clean towels left for second night cups changed and more tea coffee and milk supplied

Review 62:On arriving, reported to reception, Had booked in for 2 nights but was told it was only for 1 on there system. Double bed in room but was next to a wall so one person has to climb over the other to get into and out of bed. Bathroom had the smell of not being cleaned properly as smelt as if a dirty old mop had been used.

Review 63:Breakfast over priced, charged £7.95 and not a full English - only 1 mushroom diced, no potatoes, plate was "filled" up with baked beans. Coffee and toast replenished on request; but toast barely toasted - whiter rather than browned.

Review 64:Comfortable bed, clean and new toilet/shower/basin. Fresh orange juice at breakfast.

Review 65:Breakfast was terrible no sauces on table no plate for toast man who served it dropped coffee down my partners brand new dress plus he spoke little English hotel had no information about local attractions

Review 66:Room was nice size and very clean

Review 67:Location isn't fabulous but was safe and convenient for me. A bit noisy on the Saturday night if you are looking for peace and quiet but again was fine for me

Review 68:Very clean. Modern. Decent linen. So it felt a bit different from the budget chains. A comfortable bed on the harder side which suited me just fine. The wet room was great.

Review 69:I didn't like the noise you could hear from the corridor and from other rooms, the fact that the bed wasn't particularly comfortable or the pillows supportive, and the fact that the main light refused to turn off, remedied only by taking the bulb out.

Review 70:The price of the hotel, the ease of staying there, the bathroom facilities and the size of the room were all good.

Review 71:It is above a pub, so some nights can be a bit loud. And in order to get to the bedrooms you have to go through the pub.

Review 72:Very clean, very comfortable, nice members of staff. Good Value for Money.

Review 73:The room and bathroom were both very small, and located in a residential suburb. Perhaps I should have looked on streetview more closely before booking - I think they do a good marketing job!

Review 74:The room was clean and there was free parking, wifi and a kettle.

Review 75:There was no wifi information displayed in the room. The duvet was quite thin. Adequate for me but if it had been colder would not have sufficed.

Review 76:Cooton bedding and firm matress

Review 77:Bed a little small Room a little hot

Review 78:Tea / coffee facilities bedrooms accessed by security key away from main bar Bar Comfortable modern décor room

Review 79:The facilities were extremely cramped, no space to put luggage, could not walk around bed and very noisy Would not have stayed but it was late when we arrived

Review 80:The shower room's ventilation could be better.

Review 81:When we arrived the bar was crowded and noisy. We were reassured that our room would be quiet. We did not believe this. We were wrong. Our room was lovely and quiet. We enjoyed a great night's sleep.

Review 82:This is not a hotel. Check in is at a local pub bar surrounded by locals. Friday nights are a rowdy affair that borders on intimidating. Solo female or young couples should avoid this place.

Review 83:Price. Easy check out in the morning.

Review 84:The room was very small. The check in process was intimidating as a lone female traveller at the side of a bar with a load of workmen overhearing my room number. There was no towel rail or shelf in the bathroom so you had to leave everything on the floor. There was no food facilities other than they would order you a takeaway! This is not and should not be marketed as a hotel.

Review 85:It was very clean

Review 86:was in a quiet room, however was awake most of night with other guests banging doors & having t.v on all night, no phone in room so couldn't contact reception

Review 87:clean & comfortable, friendly staff

Review 88:Compact, clean accommodation suitable for the single traveller. NO Evening meal available but helpful staff arranges delivery of take out from various restaurants.

Review 89:The uncomfortably room I ever must stay a night in. It was cold, the dedpillow felt dank and cold, I had back-pain the whole day after onenight. The tv was montaed on a wall that makes it impossible to view tvfrom Bed, you have to stand ! - no night- reading-Light on bed. Absolutno water pressure, impossible to have a shower, unfriendly staff. Theneighborhood is also not very inviting, no restaurants in walkingdistance. We changed hotel after one night even if we allready paid for2 nights and got no refund.

Review 90:Leider nichts, nothing

Review 91:Upon entering it is like pub full of beer drinkers with hotel reception on the side of bar. Strange staff. More like a bar then hotel staff. Wi-Fi was not reliable during my stay having been constantly disconnceted Security door lock not available. Very small room - it was double but I could not imagine 2 people in the room.

Review 92:Hot English breakfast. Not buffet, served on plate. Comfortable bed.

Review 93:In the hotel description, the owner says that restaurant service is available and this is not true. You can order food from a third company, but they do not offer fresh food.

Review 94:The bedroom was enough big and confortable for my business trip, good wifi connection and clean.

Review 95:No frills good value pub accommodation with an optional good breakfast. Good Central bar with TV and friendly staff Tea/Coffee facilities in room

Review 96:No meals at evenjng Three single beds in a cramped room, designed for one bed small double or single bed Bathroom door needed oiled,

Review 97:Free wifi in rooms friendly staff

Review 98:Cannot provide VAT invoice on site; you have to apply to their sister hotel. However, they did email within an hour.

Review 99:Location, staff, and value for money

Review 100:The room was cold and the quilt thin, so I took the quilt off the second bed and had that on my bed as well. The bathroom smelled musty. No "proper" receipt for my expenses, just a tally-roll printout. Stairwell narrow. Dirty floor downstairs (but it's a bar).

Review 101:Good free parking. Easy to find. Newly decorated room. Secure access to the rooms staircase (excellent). Fast check-in.

Review 102:Rooms are a bit small but for what we wanted this was ok

Review 103:Bill who was very helpful pleasant, who could not do enough for us I would stop here again the beer was very good too

Review 104:The outside layout made it look like a daunting prospect that I was staying a night in the hotel, inside it's much nicer.

Review 105:Decent price, feels like a big house at the start but the rooms are quite nice. Can't fault it really, nothing amazing, but decent.

Review 106:No fridge or phone in room. No restaurant, they provide takeaway menus but you have to sort the rest out yourself, then your (small) room smells of takeaway food. Quite loud at night - it is just a pub with bedrooms.

Review 107:Free Wi-Fi.

Review 108:Room was very small and dark. No radiator in bathroom so it was cold. Had to walk through a pub full of men watching football to get to room.

Review 109:Bed was comfortable. Walk in shower was good size and water fairly hot and good pressure.

Review 110:The image is very misleading, this is a pub on a main route into town and access is through a rather crowded bar. Rooms generally clean though fine detail cleaning missed and toilet roll holder constantly fell off the wall. Was not impressed that at 4.15am someone was roaming the corridor knocking on doors and then when he found who he was looking for had a 20 minute conversation in the corridor, seems entry in the middle of the night is unchecked. I should say the tone and intonation of the conversation stopped me from going into the corridor to complain at those involved in the talking The free wifi has very restrictive policies applied blocking many sites, also the TV has very limited number of channels available.

Review 111:Morning Staff Polite and Friendly. Breakfast though taken alone was very good

Review 112:Requested extra pillow case for 2nd pillow, but it never arrived. Room 11 is very cramped with furniture. Insufficient coat hangers in wardrobe.

Review 113:Good size shower room, excellent water pressure. Extremely clean everywhere. Likeable and friendly reception staff. Easy parking. Quiet location.

Review 114:Had to move desk to use kettle. Room have been rearranged (to give more space I think) but no sockets then near anything. Not the comfiest of beds.

Review 115:Great value Clean and tidy Easy to find and not far from motorway Really good shower

Review 116:Was put in Buckingham hotel because booking messed up by hotel then moved down the road to another property with very little facilities fire alarm went off one night there was no precedure no body knew what to do and had to turn alarm off ourselves after a call to the Buckingham and nobody turned up to check .left one day early and wouldn't give refund even though on flexible terms

Review 117:The pub over the road

Review 118:This is a decent hotel -- maybe not the fanciest in the world, but it's been recently remodelled, it's clean and has a hot shower. You won't find better in the area for less.

Review 119:People hanging around outside and in the bar. You have to push past them with all your luggage to check in at the end of the bar then push past them again to go to the room and they won't move out of the way. Only one parking space left in a large car park full of white vans. No blind for the bathroom window - I mentioned this last time I stayed. Room pretty cramped.

Review 120:Everything looks quite new and works well. Decent TV. Clean and comfortable room. Bathroom good.

Review 121:I stayed at this hotel on the 26th January 2015 for business purposes. However, when I arrived at the hotel their Wi-Fi wasn’t working and when I got to the room I found big holes in the bathroom where tiles had been removed and not put back. Also, just to make it worse the bedroom door had no lock!! Therefore anyone who had the spare swipe card could enter – needless to say I didn’t have the best night’s sleep! And then when I wanted an invoice – only to be told they cannot provide me with one…

Review 122:Hotel advertised food ,but on asking to see the menu I was given the menu from a local takeaway!I thought this rather bizarre .Not fancying a Chinese takeaway I went in search elsewhere.

Review 123:Fairly clean and comfatable

Review 124:Don't do evening meals, but in my past visits to High Wicombe a lot of hotels inthis area do not do evening meals, but there are a lot of local restaurants and pubs that do!

Review 125:Good sized double en suite, with excellent wifi, Good sized TV with no disruptions to viewing, excellent bar, friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Spacious car parking front & rear! Most important, CLEANINESS was excellent! Did not use the room service!

Review 126:Very small room. The heating in the room was poor and it goes off at night. We stayed in December with minus temperatures outside. The restaurant was closed but we were provided with local takeaways menus.

Review 127:Clean and welcoming staff.

Review 128:Bed not made on one day Apologies given but no offer of price reduction No plug in hand basin No towel rail No evening meal available

Review 129:Clean and tidy Free car park

Review 130:Had to enter through the bar, was quite busy and traveling alone it did feel a little uncomfortable. Doors on other rooms were noisy at night when opened and shut. No hook near to the shower for the towel.

Review 131:Modern Very clean rooms Nice breakfast Relaxed atmosphere in the morning

Review 132:Noisy due to the rooms being located in hallways next to the pub. Needed ear plugs to sleep. Breakfast wasn't great and staff aren't friendly.

Review 133:Comfortable bed, good shower

Review 134:No spy hole in the bedroom door. No extra lock on the bedroom door. smokers opened the fire door in the corridor to have a fag! I felt this was a potential security problem. Pub was full of men and I would not recomend this place for ladies travelling alone. Very laddish atmosphere.

Review 135:Rooms and beds clean.

Review 136:Room so small you need to move the only chair to get to the bathroom Breakfast is plentiful but no side plates for toast or milk on the table and we needed to ask for second cup of tea at breakfast. For nearly eight pounds each it needs sharpening up.

Review 137:Cleanliness Bathroom Helpful staff Parking

Review 138:Have to check in at the bar which can feel abit uncomfortable with everyone there when you turn up with cases.

Review 139:Nice clean and modern room. Good sleep, good security. Would deffo stay again
