Reviews for The Admirals Inn Guest House
Review 1:the check-in was appalling. We rang the number at the door - no reply. Went to the Pub and was told 'someone would be over'. Nobody came - we had to go back to Pub to sign in, pay and get the key. This was because of the number of christmas parties at the Pub and shortage of staff. It was half and hour getting g the key.
Review 2:Room was OK and beds comfortable.
Review 3:The heating was off on arrival, so the bedrooms were freezing. Didn't realise we would receive a 'breakfast bag' containing porridge (which I don't eat). Wanted to treat the kids to a fry up the next morning. "Breakfasts are served daily." They should let us know that it will be porridge in a plastic tub. I wouldn't have stayed here had I known. Bathroom was very grubby and tired.
Review 4:The rooms were ok, as expected. Very small double bed though.
Review 5:Fire Door has a gap under it and no expansion seal, Shower difficult to control very HOT or freezing sink cracked fridge needs attention Door to bath room did get fixed see pictures extractor fan did not get fixed hence black mould in Bath room
Review 6:it was in a quaint area of Bracknell
Review 7:Had to wait about 30minutes in the cold to gain access. Had to use a glass to fill the kettle. Dangerous steps into the bathroom
Review 8:Quiet location Good parking Very clean room
Review 9:Awful shower, very loud , can hear all other guests, food poor, have to walk to anther building to sign in and have breakfast. Breakfast finished at 8 ..?
Review 10:Nice big rooms , clean , good wifi
Review 11:the breakfast bags on the weekend - poor show ! not all rooms had a fridge .. one bathroom fairly poor state ( mould on ceiling )
Review 12:excellent value for money - near where we needed to be - clean + comfortable
Review 13:Bathroom exhaust fans are very noisy, you can hear them when someone turns on the light in their bathroom, late at night especially. Water pressure is very low in the shower
Review 14:cheap & clean
Review 15:Continental breakfast - a brown bag with an Alpen bar, a porridge cup and a juice box. This was not breakfast! The bathroom window didn't close, the shower head was coming off the wall and the bathroom wall itself had many holes (like big holes) in it. I assume somebody else punched through it in anger because the shower temperature fluctuated so much.
Review 16:It was cheap, warm and close to the location we wanted. It's ok as a base.
Review 17:The bathroom had passed its sell by date, with a repaired bath, cracked sink and tiles hanging off the wall.
Review 18:The room was well equipped with kettle, microwave and fridge. A very comfortable firm bed. Good breakfast served across in the main pub.
Review 19:Breakfast (weekend) was rubbish and the shower could do with some maintenance
Review 20:Perfect accomodation if you just need a bed to sleep in: clean, quiet, cheap, easy going
Review 21:the bed was uncomfortable also no breakfast or drinks you only get a bag with porridge in and cereal bar with juice not nice at all
Review 22:the location was ideal
Review 23:The staff were very friendly and helpful. while there had been a booking related issue this was resolved by the magement staff. good not have asked for a better service Thank you.
Review 24:Having to go to pub a short walk away to check in. No staff at all in the building while we were there and breakfast was awful.
Review 25:Beds were comfortable and bathroom clean.
Review 26:No staff met us when we arrived ans had to walk to a pub nearby to find the guest staff as nobody answered my call as well. Waited almost 20 minutes to find somebody in charge as the pub was hosting a birthday party. Disappointed experience!
Review 27:It was not very homely . What was left in the room for breakfast wasvery poor ( a brown paper bag with a pot of instant porridge , a cartonof orange juice & a flapjack bar no choice & not suitable for a8 year old ) none of the electrical items were pat tested which is afire hazard . The freezer in the fridge had no door and was frozen solid. The cupboard doors fell off when opened and the bathroom door cameapart when opened and closed .
Review 28:Was quiet
Review 29:My only critique was that the shower pressure was too low for me.
Review 30:Location, car park space, clean room, comfortable bed, fridge (excellent), TV, kettle and plenty of electrical sockets, quiet rooms.
Review 31:Toilet seat is cheap, keeps sliding to 1 side, no door handle on toilet, booked a double but got 2 singles and the breakfast packed in a take away bag
Review 32:it was £40, newly refurbed, new bed really comfy and quiet, clean lining and great shower. I'd stay again for that money!
Review 33:Bathroom in poor condition, fibreglass patch in bath, tiles coming off wall. Batteries in TV remote not working. Very small TV.
Review 34:Clean ensuite room with microwave, tv and all cutlery.
Review 35:We were not aware of breakfast bags instead of proper breakfast on the weekends. The plates and cups in our room were dirty with food from previous guests.
Review 36:Bed was ok.
Review 37:having to go somewhere else to check in....
Review 38:a cooked breakfast would of been nice .. and somebody at the location instead of having to go somewhere else to check in
Review 39:Breakfast bag Would of preferred a cooked breakfast but was aware this was the case on a Sunday morning
Review 40:Free wifi, TV, takeaways and pubs local. Friendly staff and excellent location to legoland
Review 41:The urine soaked bed that caused our move to the pub accommodation instead of the guest house. The mattress with spring in your back, and the breakfast that comes in a paper bag on the weekend.... Not made clear in the description at all. It's a hovel.... Never go there...
Review 42:Being kept awake until 2.30 by the drunken yobs leaving the pub below the room....
Review 43:No mirror in our room only in bathroom so not able to do our hair in our room as leads wouldn't reach to bathroom.
Review 44:Friendly service, clean rooms, good selection of breakfast items all nice and hot.
Review 45:Staff in the evening were so rude we couldn't wait to leave their attitudes were awful and we only asked a few questions about area etc and no help what so ever . I would never go again!!!! Also breakfast rubbish!!
Review 46:Loved it all
Review 47:We stayed here to travel to royle ascot and we were very impressed with the location , food and guest house , we would definitely stay here again
Review 48:They advertise a breakfast but is was rubbish. Just a breakfast bag, which was gross. So I then had to go elsewhere to buy one. If I'd have known I'd gave gone elsewhere which included a proper breakfast. I also only had enough tea bags and milk to make 1 cup of tea. The sink was so small I couldn't fill the kettle either.
Review 49:Having to go across the road to pub to register and the fact that the advertised breakfast (for a Sunday Morning) was a breakfast bag in the room rather than a full hot breakfast, but it was still a good stay.
Review 50:Great Value and Comfortable Bed
Review 51:Being asked to pay whilst still on doorstep waiting to be let in! Cracked wash hand basin, cracked bath, tiles grimy. Breakfast left a lot to be desired.
Review 52:Free wi-Fi was appreciated
Review 53:Wifi was not working too well. And no full breackfast on weekends.
Review 54:Had your own keys so could come back and forth as often as like. And could come back late.
Review 55:Bed a bit bounce the second person if one turned over! Could be totally self sufficient if you wished microwave fridge utensils supplied.
Review 56:Excelent car parking. Clean rooms. Cheap and cheerfull.
Review 57:Loud NOISES experienced from neighboring rooms from other residents until 2-30 AM Sunday morning. Impossible to sleep, virtually destroyed my business day on Sunday!!! I found it was impossible to complain to management because their phone was out of service! Also my special request of a top bed sheet was completely ignored!!
Review 58:Friday night was ideal, very quiet and relaxing. Would NOT recommend because of NOISE experienced from neighboring rooms!
Review 59:Water coming in bathroom windowsill looks like problem with roof
Review 60:The added touches shampoo tissues lovely breakfast bag and large TV and near to takeaway and shop
Review 61:The bed was a little too firm for my preference but was in good condition. One of the curtains came off the rail when I drew them back in the morning. The breakfast was good but I thought it was strange and a little unfair that I had to pay on top for a cooked breakfast when it was included in the price during the week. This wasn't made clear at the time of booking. Also the continental breakfast only consisted of cereal and toast so was a little on the meagre side.
Review 62:The room size and facilities were good. Had everything I needed for my night's stay.
Review 63:For the money charged, i dont think it would be reasonable to make negative omments.
Review 64:Sheets,pillowcases and towels were spotlessly clean. Rooms were dust free and clean in spite of being in need of redecorating.
Review 65:Breakfast not very inspiring. Bed was very hard and up against the wall so that my husband could not get out of bed to go to the toilet without clambering over me first!
Review 66:Quiet and close to centre of Bracknell
Review 67:TV fixed to wall above door jamb. No headboard and head end of bed under window sill. No chair, no counter top, no wifi, flthy shower, damp stained ceiling.
Review 68:No staff on site. Given incorrect info about breakfast. Room rundown - holes in interior doors, dirty carpets. Stains on ceilings.
Review 69:Quiet location. Easy parking. Room facilities good - microwave, fridge, wifi, shower, bathroom. Warm.
Review 70:You arrive to a staff less building, you make a phone call and someone brings you a key. A lovely building on the outside but once in the room was awful! The soft furnishings were filthy, the bathroom was shocking- the toilet seat didn't fit the toilet and the bath panel was hanging off and most shockingly the door didn't close! If the filth, non working internet, water in the wardrobe, broken bathroom and lack of staff wasn't enough, the most fearful and worrying of all was the windows - 1 out of 3 handles attached and you could have pushed the whole window out! Needless to say we didn't stay!
Review 71:surly service at breakfast & being told we would be offered fruit, yoghurts & croissants but not! Shower not very powerful so took while to remove shampoo etc
Review 72:quiet location
Review 73:Room was cold, dirty and a shower that hardly worked. I've stayed in hostels in developing countries when I backpacked far far better than this. I stayed here on business and it was simply awful. I would never return and suggest others do not get pulled in by the cheap price. It makes Travelodge look like the Dorchester!
Review 74:There is nothing positive to say about this place. Simply awful.
Review 75:Poor inefficient shower (not happy about two holes punched in bathroom door either!) Toilet seat not fitted properly. Carpet very worn and grubby, whole room in need of repainting. Breakfast served (across the road) only between 07 30 and 08 30.
Review 76:Room had microwave/fridge/tea, coffee etc. Was fairly clean. Bed reasonably comfortable.
Review 77:No breakfast ,had stayed here before and they had a breakfast room so we could have breakfast earlier , when we checked in we had been told the breakfast room would be ready for us in the morning when we went down to eat, we found the room locked and when we looked through the door full of furniture so not impressed. When we went to try and sort the following mornings breakfast out we were told that nothing could be done and no recompense offered ,shame really as we could fill the rooms 3 days every month as we have a contract in the area
Review 78:Price rooms good ,everything you need when away working (well nearly)
Review 79:The bedroom needed new beds and mattresses as the beds were wobbly and you could feel all the springs in the mattress, the shower tray had black mould all round the seal and the bathroom ceiling was mouldy, could of done with a good clean and the bedroom refreshed as old and tired. Wouldn't stay there again.
Review 80:The size of the room was good and the wifi was a bonus, it was a quiet room considering the pub below. The breakfast was good and included in the price.
Review 81:Quite hard to find the guest house as the sign is hard to see and the location is a bit out of the way. Needed to get the key from the pub which again isn't signposted and was down a dark alley. Parking at the guesthouse was a bit tight for a big car. Room was clean but rather dilapidated and smelled a bit odd (I suspect the last guest microwaved something containing a lot of onions?). TV reception was poor and WiFi non-existent in the guest house as far as I could find. All pretty minor stuff and didn't detract from the good value.
Review 82:A large room for the price (£60) with TV, microwave and a fridge. Bedding was clean. A short walk from the guesthouse to the pub where the beer was good and reasonably priced. Friendly staff and the food menu looked ok although I didn't try it. Breakfast was included and was a decent (if small) full English with good coffee. Pre-pay and easy checkout by dropping your key into a secure box, so no queueing.
Review 83:Almost everthing.I arrived at the INN and there was no one present, a sign on the door informs the guest to ring a number which happens to be a pub (which the notice says is across the road but is in fact through an avenue, through a car park and then across the road), I rang the number 3 times but there was no reply, I thought Iwas going to be stranded for the night. I then proceeded to find the pub 'across the road'. I was informed the manager would be back shortly to check me in, and she was. I was duly checked in, informed that breakfast would be served in the pub venue the next morning and that everything I would need would be in the Admiral Inn back across the road. no one brings you and shows you in, you must make your own way. The room was tiny and badly in need of a paint job. The bathroom shower tray had mould. When I ran the shower the next morning a light, fine spray of water came out hardly enough to wet you, never mind wash you. Even if you left the shower door open the floor wouldnt even get wet. There were holes in the back of the bathroom door where someone had put there boot into it. There was a fridge but completely empty, there wasnt even a bottle of water made available. There was no kettle to make a cup of tea or for that matter no cup or tea bags etc. The floor was unclean, the entrance hall and stairs carpet was unclean. There were old mattresses thrown out in the front garden for Gods sake. How is this place passing regulatory requirements? But to cap it all! When I went 'across the road' for breakfast the next morning lo and behold the premises was locked up, there was no one around. Breakfast was supposed to be 7.30 to 8.30, (odd in itself for a guest house) I was presented for breakfast at 8.05am. Never in my life have I come across such a short breakfast period in a guest house.
Review 84:Nothing, apart perhaps from the fact that the girl who checked me in was pleasant, but then why shouldnt she be. The bed was clean and reasonably comfortable, just as well I was really tired havent travelled otherwise I dont think I would have slept such was the state of the surroundings.
Review 85:Bad smelling room Grotty stains and holes all over the carpet Reaching just behind the bed to plug phone in my hand came out cakes in hair and dirt Thinnest mattress imaginable Shower had black mould growing all around the sealant Cups were dirty
Review 86:Bathroom was very dated, only hot water, no cold water and broken tiles. Room good size but very dated Its a very old building, that needs urgent refurbishment.
Review 87:Location, free parking, pub was ok
Review 88:Having stayed before i had planned on a buffet breakfast on the Sunday morning only to find that the breakfast had to be taken in the Pub after 8.00am. This was too late and therefore we did not get breakfast. What really annoys is that nowhere was this in the advert. if facilities change it would be only polite to advise guests in advance.
Review 89:Nothing really. If I was being picky I would say a chair in the room would be useful but space was limited. Door/clothes hooks on the back of the doors (bedroom and bathroom) would be useful. TV didn't work but didn't have time to watch it anyway so didn't really matter.
Review 90:Its cheap, very useful to have a fridge and microwave in the room. Free parking, central location, excellent continental breakfast, very accommodating staff.
Review 91:Mould everywhere Bathroom needs ripping out. We stayed across the road from the pub & from what we were told we were the lucky ones. The pub itself was very run down so we decided to eat & drink elsewhere. Although the room was very cheap it needed a comete refurbishment & would not return again
Review 92:Comfy bed
Review 93:Wifi on and off 200 yard walk to breakfast photos on page misleading and the main photo is not where you stay but the pub you breakfast in. Just old and tired and for £1 extra I could have stayed in Travellodge and had a better standard. Wont use again. I expect Hotels to be as clean as my home....
Review 94:not much, it was close to where I was going the next day...
Review 95:Having to get to another venue 5 mins away for breakfast. There was no chair in the room.
Review 96:Quiet and comfortable. Water was hot. Towels and facilities were clean.
Review 97:The curtain track broke, the shower was not good, the cold what's did not work properly, we thought the advertising was misleading as the sleeping area was in different place, and street!!!
Review 98:The bed was cosy and the extra service with fride was good.
Review 99:Out of date bathroom with ancient tiles and very old patched bathtub. The cold water tab was not working so I had to fill basin and splash myself from it. the breakfast time is limited to one hour 7.30 to 8.30 and you have to walk across the road to a pub which wouldn't have been a problem for me personally but may not be ideal for family with small children.
Review 100:Quiet location. Fridge & microwave in a room
Review 101:Chaos trying to book in they moved us to the pub. Broken glass in window. Floor vibrating due to air extractor. Dust & grime & cobwebs. bin not empty. WC took minutes to refill.
Review 102:They gave us our money back so we could move elsewhere
Review 103:wish rooms had door stoppers or door wedges .
Review 104:clean,comfy,good and friendly staff, basic continental breakfast. good facility in room like tv,microwave, kettle, fridge, cutlery, mugs, teabags, coffee,
Review 105:The hotel had no service as it was an annex several hundred yards from the main building. The cold water didn't work on the shower so it was too hot to use, breakfast was in the main building and and was apparently closed when we git there at 8:00 although in a later phone call they insisted it was open at the time. The main building is a pub and the annex was several hundred yards away, no staff were available out of pub hours. All the other guests appeared to be workmen.
Review 106:The area is very pleasant.
Review 107:In the bathroom there was a hot water ONLY. Literally BOILING WATER. I prefer slightly cooler. It's tricky to have a shower. The bathroom was gross.
Review 108:Comfy bed. TV. Microwave and a fridge. Quiet location. Free car park.
Review 109:Bed a wee bit hard for my liking.
Review 110:Made very welcome by friendly staff. Well equipped room good value for money.Breakfast included made good start to the day.
Review 111:The Admiral Cunningham is an old building, consequently a lot of internal noise, ie noisy floorboards wherever you walked.
Review 112:Good breakfast Clean room Very quiet location
Review 113:The shower had little power, when it came to the night the room felt damp (all bedding etc) we came in a big group everyone had tea coffee and biscuits we didn't get the biscuits :(
Review 114:The room was nice, the staff were lovely, the choice of breakfast was good, the house was nice.
Review 115:Got there, had to phone to get in. Had to go to another place for info to be told we had been changed to somewhere else. Got there, room key left under door mat. On a busy road so sleep was nearly impossible. Stained carpets in room. Only staff we saw was person who served breakfast. Would not reccomend staying here.
Review 116:Only plus is the bed sheets were clean and crisp.
Review 117:Having to leave shower to run for over 5 minutes to get hot water to come through. Wifi struggles after room 8, they need to put the router more central or boost it, it was near the front door, ok it your in rooms 1 to 6 Cupboard and worktop not attached to wall in the room we stayed in, could be a hazard with small children
Review 118:Cheap, got what you paid for, cant complain as it's was some where just to sleep and nothing else Microwave in room Fridge in room Bathroom quite big, expected something quite pokey with it saying just shower room
Review 119:The photograph is of Admiral Cunningham pub and not the guest house. On arrival we had to telephone a pub and we were told to walk to this to pay and collect the keys. The rooms could do with updating but are ok for the money charged. The bathroom extract did not appear to be working, there was a crack in the basin, the light over the basin did not work and there was no shelf to store toiletries, the shower had no pressure and only one showe cubicle worked. The door handles had made holes in the walls due to lack of door stops. The room was dark and the lights had to be on during the day time. The fridge was out of level. The dining room provided no where for used crockery which meant it was left on the tables after use and had to be cleared by guests arriving later for breakfast. A member of staff did arrive about 9.30 to clear away etc. We feel that the owners should make more of an effort to have someone there at or during the breakfast time.
Review 120:The food provided for the breakfast was very good and had plenty of choice. The guest house is good value for the cost and is fine for one night.
Review 121:No Wifi in room even when connecting using the password provided. Hot water in shower remained too hot even after adjusting tap controls.
Review 122:Very friendly lady at reception in main Inn. Use of fridge and microwave in the bedroom.
Review 123:When 8 people descend on a friend its not possible to all stay with him, the Admirals Inn was exactly what we needed for this purpose. Clean and Tidy, and the free wifi was a bonus. Will definitely use this place again
Review 124:Shower not good breakfast in bags
Review 125:Great location, cheap and cheerful.
Review 126:The smell of the room and specially the toilet was disgusting. I have never been to a place with such a bad smell. Poor service
Review 127:It was comtervile for my needs
Review 128:Was clean
Review 129:great location near town,Apartment was nicely laid out.
Review 130:The rooms had very good facilities including a fridge. Spacious and comfortable.
Review 131:Excellent welcome Meal in the evening Excellent Looked after us well
Review 132:Not so sure about the weekend breakfast arrangements.
Review 133:Nice quiet location, comfortable guest room and bed.
Review 134:Poor shower
Review 135:Quiet area
