Reviews for The Tree at Cadmore

Review 1:Time of breakfast, 8.30 - 9.30. Bit early if you are having a break as we were.

Review 2:Friendly staff. Pub with great character. Cosy dining area. Relaxed atmosphere.

Review 3:Room furnishings although clean do require an uplift. I expect the new owners are aware of this, but it does look and feel a little dated.

Review 4:Lovely pub with nice atmosphere. The food was outstanding, albeit a little on the expensive side.

Review 5:Accomodation was very spacious, clean and tidy but in need of refurbishing really.

Review 6:Lovely country pub feel with roaring open fire. Enjoyed delicious evening meal and breakfast - absolutely faultless. Worth a visit for this alone.

Review 7:Had to move rooms as bathroom extractor began to drip water. New bathroom had cracked wash bowl & heated towel rail had fractured electrical connection cover.

Review 8:Great 300 year old bar area with open log fire. Very comfortable. Rooms clean, beds comfortable. 4 poster bed!

Review 9:Breakfast 7.30-8.30 is stupid if you are there for leisure. There was no heating in the room making it a little damp and cold. We were woken at 7am by the guy next door coming into our room for a shower, as he had no hot water. Mix up over rooms apparently!

Review 10:Good size room, we had a twin and the beds were comfy. Restaurant was nice, but not a good menu if you just want a snack.

Review 11:For the price no complaints. Rooms probably will need an upgrade to maintain standards, so sooner rather than later.

Review 12:Generally good atmosphere in bar area. Food and service good. Breakfast also good. WiFii worked well

Review 13:Breakfast has a very early, small window.

Review 14:It was our second time staying here. Our room was a nice size and very comfortable. We ate dinner for the first time, and was lovely. The staff are incredibly helpful.

Review 15:Damp smell in hallways to bedrooms Two single beds pushed together but different heights...

Review 16:The bar and restaurant was nice and the food was great.....

Review 17:The accommodation is really tired and in need a major overhaul. Bathrooms are old fashioned and require re-modelling. Whilst not unclean they certainly give that appearance due to age. Food and drink relatively expensive but good quality.

Review 18:Great location, Helpful friendly staff, Super quality food, comfortable quiet rooms.

Review 19:No lift but that is not a deal breaker. WIFI was via the Cloud and our computer would not allow it as a legitimate IP address. First time that has ever happened with our travelling computer.

Review 20:We had a very spacious double room. The pub food is of restaurant quality and reasonably priced. Our meals were presented expertly. Breakfast was above average. Be aware that the hotel is about one mile west of the GPS location for Cadmore End. Delightful staff in the pub.

Review 21:Room very tired (but comfortable) with wonky lampshade, hole behind toilet and limescale crusted taps - but on the whole very clean and comfortable. Staff seemed a little put out when I went down to dinner at 9pm - I was greeted with "We stop serving at 9.30" which made me feel like I was imposing upon them. It was very quiet so I expect they were hoping for an early finish!

Review 22:Warm welcome, huge room and bathroom, great food

Review 23:None

Review 24:The bed - very comfortable. The rooms - very clean & comfortable. The food - very good. The staff & Manager - very helpful. The beer choice - very good

Review 25:Although everything works as it should, the rooms do need bringing up to date.

Review 26:Good location for my work base, staff are friendly and efficient, pub is welcoming with decent food. Rooms are spacious and comfortable overall.

Review 27:The room smelt of damp and or cleaning chemicals. Pink toilet with a naff white seat. Classic hotel situation where the money has been sucked out and not put back in again.

Review 28:The staff were friendly, helpful and charming. We didn't eat dinner here. The full English breakfast was first class with superb coffee and oodles of toast!

Review 29:TV was small when viewed across the large bedroom (maybe only a problem as the room was nice and big )

Review 30:Easy to find location. I arrived late (nearly 11pm) but was welcomed and shown to my room which had good wifi and everything I needed

Review 31:The beds felt very cold and slightly damp like the room hadn't been heated in a long time. Breakfast was served very early (7.30 to 8.30) - it would have been nice to have it a bit later. It would have been nice to have vegi sausages on the menu although there were some vegi options, e.g. cheese and beans on toast.

Review 32:Lovely pub full of character and friendly staff. nice breakfast. Lovely forest view from bedroom window.

Review 33:Problem with the shower although plenty of hot water. Bathroom tiles need attention

Review 34:Friendly staff, nice quiet room, good situation for our visit to local NT House. Indian buffet was a surprise and very good

Review 35:Nothing

Review 36:Staff were extremely friendly and accommodating when I arrived quite late. I was made a meal with the chef personally appearing to offer to make me a curry even though the kitchens were shut. After a very tyring, stressful uni-dropoff trip to London I was so grateful for the smooth check-in and great customer service. Thank you.

Review 37:We required 2 beds. The main king bed was very comfortable but the 2nd single bed was extremely uncomfortable

Review 38:Some staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Review 39:Toilet flush was broken and didn't work very well. Taxi fare to High Wycombe at Dinner time £12 but return journey at 2300 hrs £20.

Review 40:Really friendly and helpful staff (Sheila). Good size bathroom.

Review 41:I thought this would be a good alternative to m/way services,it wasnt. Very dated & drab bedroom with 1970'a bathroom.Only 1 beside lamp which was not working! Breakfast starts at 7.30 which is ridiculous for business/working people en route to London. Won't be back

Review 42:Convience to M40

Review 43:Tremendous smell of sewage outside. Was a very hot night and we couldn't open the window as the smell was awful.

Review 44:Excellent resturant. Thoroughly recommend the all you can eat Indian night

Review 45:The room was quite large, though the bathroom was clean, but a little old fashioned, but OK Bed was very comfortable, but there was only 1 bedside lamp, and no clock.

Review 46:There was nobody around when we arrived and we had to hunt down someone to check us in. We had advised that we needed a gluten free diet but there was not much available and no bread at breakfast. The furniture in the room was incredibly dusty. It was very noisy from passing traffic and loud conversation when we were trying to sleep. We had booked half board but we were told that anything over £30 on the menu would be added to our bill. £30 covered the cost of just 2 main courses, therefore half board should not have been an option when we booked.

Review 47:The food was good and the room was comfortable. There is plenty of car parking space and the surroundings are pleasant.

Review 48:Dinner Menu seemed to be a bit expensive; Indian dishes offered could have been more helpful (strength of curry). Pity some of the lunch dishes not available in the evening

Review 49:Comfortable, quiet room (despite M40 very close)

Review 50:Decor desperately needs updating.

Review 51:Staff were great, and dinner was delicious. Overall state of decor is tired and dingy, but it provides a good overnight stop off the motorway.

Review 52:Could do with Air con and some updating to the rooms, but good value for money

Review 53:Good location, nice bar & restaurant, excellent free wifi, friendly efficient staff

Review 54:The very very bad smells from the drains outside bedroom (2) also the sewage pipres they need to be clleaned more often .spoilt ouur stay. Also the breakfast was not the best smoked bacon very very salty &served unedable .

Review 55:Hi wasn't the best place seems to have deteriated since we were here afew years ago the staff were very helpful and had a good knowledge of things.

Review 56:The bedroom furniture was dated and tired. The veneer was split and damaged. The bathroom had a cracked sink the shower cracked in limescale. Shower was very poor in water flow. The decore was dark and tired. Needs a full refurbishment. The breakfast was mediocre, the tomatoes tasted awful. Lady that served was quite good pleasant and helpful. Sadly we cannot recommend this hotel. Very poor.

Review 57:Not alot

Review 58:The rooms are comfy & clean but a little tatty. Despite saying we were vegetarian on our booking, the breakfast choice was pretty disappointing. Basically egg or beans & cheese on toast with a tomato.

Review 59:Enjoyed our evening meal & the staff were very pleasant. Hotel close to West Wycombe which is a lovely little place.

Review 60:The shower in the bath was hopeless and being held together with a piece of fishing line (I think!)!! The Indian guys eating their food noisily when I first arrived. On the first morning, one Indian guy was about to do the vacuuming around me whilst I was having my breakfast. I had to ask him not to!! Health and safety seemed to go out the window!! And noise pollution seemed to mean nothing to him.

Review 61:Excellent full English breakfast! Good sized room with very comfortable bed.

Review 62:We couldn't get into the hotel without a pin which we wouldn't have know had another guest not happen to come out. It wasn't clear where we had to go to check in (turns out, you go to the bar) Had to move rooms as first room smelt bad. The other rooms had no amenities such as razors, flannels etc and very basic facilities. Also there was dust on the controller and didn't feel very clean. Friendly staff and great location for Turville but felts like a roadhouse diner with rooms as opposed to a quaint country B&B which is what we thought it would. The breakfast is quite limited but there is a hot made to order menu as well as just cereal you help yourself to.

Review 63:The man on reception was lovely and helped with directions into Oxford City. VERY large comfy beds too.

Review 64:-Room smelled abit like toilet cleaner(at least they used it) and bathroom very dated with water stain on floor around toilet -Ceiling could do with a lick of paint -Food tasty but expensive, need a cheaper range

Review 65:-Friendly staff -Pub décor

Review 66:The property is getting a bit old now and bedrooms and bathrooms could do with an update. But then for the price this is not a complaint

Review 67:Rooms are fine. Staff are helpful and accomodating. Dinner was as always good however breakfast was not as good as the last time we stayed and I felt that the portion size had been reduced ?

Review 68:Food in restaurant was too fussy and expensive and breakfast was very early and a bit thin on the ground. Bedroom furniture need updating and bathrooms need desperate modernisation.

Review 69:Bed was ginormous ! And comfy good location for what we wanted.

Review 70:Rooms dated but clean, spacious and well equipped.

Review 71:Food was amazing. That's why we went back again. Bar/restaurant area relaxing and tastefully decorated. Staff friendly and helpful.

Review 72:Tripped on step in bar causing bruising to toes. (I had a stroke and spinal surgery several years ago so, although I look normal[ish], one eye and one leg don't work properly which probably contributed to accident). Nonetheless, a strip of hazard tape would be a good idea.

Review 73:The obvious concern of a staff member when I tripped on step in bar and fell full length. I laughed to show I wasn't seriously hurt. He had the courtesy not to!

Review 74:Wifi didn't work, asked for medium steak and received raw vary small TVs for room size.

Review 75:Starter at dinner was superb staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 76:Staff were entirely inattentive and disinterested. No welcome, no thank you. Dreadful menu choice. Windows didn't shut properly. Extortionate prices in the bar. Bed terribly uncomfortable. Just utter rubbish.

Review 77:I liked the fact that we were only there for one night.

Review 78:On arrival non of the electric works : they forgot to switch it on and I had had a 3 hour journey : Cobwebs in the bedroom and when I had a bath the plug didn't work had to hurt my hand using a spoon to release the plug : when reported to reception the young lady was I felt just not interested : It is sad as could be a very pleasant place : Needs more refurbishment : Not done in 6 years

Review 79:The food was excellent : When having a drink at 10:30pm after my business : told shutting in 10 minutes which as a guest in hotel do not expect : young lady didn't understand what I ordered twice and it was on their drinks menu

Review 80:twin room beds very uncomfortable need replacing you can feel the springs.

Review 81:Very good location for where i had to go, great staff, Indian meal was fantastic.

Review 82:Telly was on the small side and only certain places we could get Wifi.

Review 83:My friend and I really enjoyed our stay here. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. They even gave us the recipe to their soup. The food was delicious and well presented. Good size bathroom and bath. Bed very comfortable with nice crisp white sheets. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 84:The breakfast is not of the same standard as dinner was tough there is choice including scrambled eggs with salmon! The coffee could definitely be better and was not a patch on the coffee we had in the evening.

Review 85:The service is great and the food excellent. For example, they had some unusual beer and rather than us having to order it to try they offered us a sample.

Review 86:Once out of the pub into the bedroom, well it was old, and very tired. Bathroom was really poor, old hair drier on the wall, mold on the shower screen, and the bath was not clean, overflow was really dirty. If they cleaned the bathroom, and spent a little money in the bedrooms, then it would be good. Menu in the pub is a little odd, I found it expensive and difficult to choose. Someone else asked for what was a normal curry, not on the menu, and was told no. £30 for the meal, starter, main and 2 beers Overall, 50/50

Review 87:On arrival, the pub looked really good, clean and tidy and welcoming. Breakfast was good, although a lack of menu of what was available made breakfast a guess. Nice comfy bed

Review 88:The bathroom in need of update, could not get the shower to work but plenty of hot water for the bath

Review 89:We were hospital visiting in Marlow so the hotel needed to be close and easy to find as we had travelled a long way. The room was large and comfortable, the evening meal and breakfast were included in the price

Review 90:Lack of choice on themenu for evening meal, which due to the remote location is a slight irritation. Wifi very poor wouldnt connect due to unstable connection!

Review 91:Large bedroom, refurbishment in progress, very good choice on the breakfast menu, Staff very nice.

Review 92:Rooms dated and mismatched could do with an upgrade but OK for our one night stop.

Review 93:The food is excellent we had the Indian choices and it was some of the best Indian food I have ever had. Good choice at breakfast.

Review 94:A little old-fashioned. Slightly noisy due to proximity of M40. Booked three twin rooms but got two twin plus one single. Otherwise all good.

Review 95:Nice pub, clean, comfortable, great staff, very good breakfast.

Review 96:The hotel is far from everything , lost in the middle of nothing ,impossible to find it, the adresss is wrong in the GPS and someone in the hotel tried to shop with my credit card , and I have my card blocked , really I don,t recomend

Review 97:The room is confortable

Review 98:The owners are trying too hard. If you serve eggs Florentine at least get the chef to learn how it should be served - it's not just a pile of thawed out spinach plonked on a plate with poached eggs! Also a pint of a local beer was flat, the young lad behind the bar was clueless and the manager just said "it must be the end of the barrel". No alternative was offered as the other beer on tap was also "at the end". Disappointing.

Review 99:The location is good, the outside seating area is pleasant. The rooms are old fashioned but clean and comfortable.

Review 100:I was kicked out at home what a place to recover staff 10/10 I have stayed in local big hotels thus last week nothing will top the servive and food

Review 101:Toilet broken on arrival and had to wait to get into room. Funny smell going down corridor to room

Review 102:Room wasn't overlooked. Clean. Not very big but preferable to a travelodge.

Review 103:Rooms very dark with poor lighting. Beds uncomfortable. Fortunately, I noticed a mistake in the bill before paying and leaving and it was corrected at once - but it should not have happened.

Review 104:Food was good

Review 105:where's the kedjeree gone from the breakfast menu? That was the main reason I returned. Smoked salmon portion on scrambled egg was tiny! Rooms desperately require refurbishment but I'm sure you know that

Review 106:Restaurant, menu, choice of beers

Review 107:Tiny little things; the double bed was two singles pushed together, so had that uncomfy ridge in the middle. An iron was very hard to come by 'there are a few on each floor' - no there weren't. No information on how to contact reception - we had to guess. Nothing to get upset about, but a shame that a good experience was let down by details.

Review 108:The hotel was quiet, the staff lovely - especially Sheila at breakfast, and amenities such as parking were good.

Review 109:We had to go without breakfast because it wasn't served until 8.30 and we had to leave before then.

Review 110:Good location between the wedding service and wedding reception we were attending, although the taxi from here to the venue was very expensive. Staff very accommodating arranging an early check-in.

Review 111:The furniture is beginning to look a little tired but everything was clean. Perfect for a stop over without going mad on the price. Staff very helpful and nice.

Review 112:Beautiful big bed! Great night sleep.

Review 113:We had gone to bed and were asleep, when there was a rattle of keys in the lock of our bedroom door and someone came into our room ( about 1am)!! We called out and they went out again and we heard them going down the stairs. The noise from the Motorway was annoying, the place had a tired barely maintained look. Things were falling off in the bathroom.

Review 114:Pubic hairs on toilet seat lid. Smell of urine in the room. Extractor fan in bathroom didn't work. Portable appliance testing (PAT) out of date.

Review 115:Some of the staff went out of their way to help you. Comfy beds. Breakfast ok.

Review 116:Noise, no sleep until after 12.30 am as some kind of DIY work was going on until then, the fallowing night after complaining it stopped at 10 pm - not good at all, although we did agree that work was needed, but not at night, and definitely not whilst open!

Review 117:Food was unfaultable

Review 118:The decor and general presentation needs updating as it looks a bit unwelcoming, eg carpets need renewing, stuff needs putting away and not left on the floor etc

Review 119:food, hospitality and price were all very good

Review 120:Meal very nice. "Indian food" but over priced

Review 121:Just an overnight stay. Liked the whole place but rooms would benefit from an update. Very quiet, nice beer, great breakfast, full English cooked to order

Review 122:Breakfast time was narrow only 1hr 8.30 to 9.30 Allowed smoking outside, full ash trays.

Review 123:Location was close to Henley Bar menu was good Breakfast choice excellent, would give you any variation you wanted on menu. Very friendly and helpful waitress.

Review 124:Easy to find, a few minutes away from M40 ideal for our mid journey break

Review 125:It could do with updating like new carpet in hall ways and updating bathrooms

Review 126:The food was excellent and staff were

Review 127:Bathroom and corridors looking a bit tired, in need of an update/decorate

Review 128:Friendly staff, good size room and nice and clean everywhere. Good value

Review 129:Damp smell in room

Review 130:Restaurant and bar and staff

Review 131:Stayed before location and friendlyness of staff good alway wanting to help

Review 132:kitchen close to early

Review 133:everything is good

Review 134:Nice food and drinks, although not the cheapest. The bar/restaurant area was cosy and relaxing.

Review 135:Sink had a crack and shower slow

Review 136:Staff really friendly and nothing too much trouble

Review 137:Uncomfortable bed, isolated location

Review 138:Friendly staff, good food

Review 139:Lack of gluten free fare even though the hotel was warned on the booking form

Review 140:The welcome from the staff

Review 141:nice helpful staff good food

Review 142:My room was full of bugs...

Review 143:The staff were really friendly
