Reviews for Malvern House
Review 1:Staff were friendly and welcoming, and there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room when we arrived. Breakfast was excellent! Very happy to go there again as it was good value for money.
Review 2:Difficult to locate after dark. Postcode satnav not sufficient, better directions needed. Thermostatic radiator valve broken and unusable. Room very hot in consequence - needed to sleep with windows wide open. Replacement valve urgently needed.
Review 3:Friendly welcome and helpful service. Cleanliness exemplary. Very comfortable bed.
Review 4:Very friendly and helpful hosts, nice, functional and comfortable room, very clean, with coffee making facilities. Free wifi; good breakfast. Will stay there again when in the area.
Review 5:Bed was not to our liking,, kind of mattress is great for one but two is another matter. They need some extra boosting of their wi fi. not very strong when we were there. Brought this up to them and they mentioned they were getting it looked at and upgraded.
Review 6:Very very clean with lots of electrical outlets, and freshly redecorated. Bathroom and shower were super. Told it was a continental breakfast, but when we showed up they asked how we liked our eggs which ended up being a great breakfast
Review 7:The TV in my room was not switched on, and I had to scramble behind the desk to find the plug. There appeared to be no BBC2 channel. Be aware that breakfast is pretty basic, but if you are not bothered about Full English, then it is fine.
Review 8:Easy to find location not far from J4 of the M40. Fine for an overnight business stay - I chose it simply for its location.Staff were helpful and friendly. Onsite parking too.
Review 9:Breakfast could be improved options. Radiator in room was very noisy when heating came on in the morning - enough to wake me.
Review 10:Ideal off road parking; quiet side road. Very clean room, good staff support.
Review 11:I am still waiting for a vat receipt to arrive, all the staff could say is that the owner will send this by email yet the payment was taken right on the spot.
Review 12:The bed was very soft and somehow the place felt a bit unloved.
Review 13:Great location with everything necessary for an overnight stay on a business trip. Only eggs as hot breakfast food, but cooked really well.
Review 14:Breakfast could have been more substantial. When asked whether we wanted scrambled or fried we assumed it would include the other usual accompaniments, not just two eggs on a plate.
Review 15:Comfortable room
Review 16:Breakfast was a bit hit and miss I was asked if I wanted fried or scrambled eggs and I chose fried but thats all I got, nothing else on the plate. I thought I would get a full breakfast? I am not sure if the very nice ladies really understood what I wanted.
Review 17:Nice clean comfortable room although small it was enough for me. Friendly welcome
Review 18:A new housekeeping team has just started in Malvern house and they are enthusiastic, friendly and hard-working. The whole place is freshly decorated and immaculately clean.
Review 19:The mattress on the bed was that uncomfortable i had to complain and although i was offered an alternative hotel i could not leave due to another colleague being in the same hotel. Until the next morning i didnt realise he had no sleep either.
Review 20:The person who did all the running about for the management. The management didnt seem to want to resolve any issues i had with the bed but the staff member tried to do all he could
Review 21:No bad experiences
Review 22:Hotel was extremely convenient to visiting local attractions and towns. Room and bathroom very clean and 'David' was an excellent 'host' and very helpful.
Review 23:Place badly needs updating, carpets, paintwork and bathroom fittings all grubby and in poor state. Due to boiler problems we had no hot water for 3 days of our 5 day stay. Very disappointing as we had stayed here 2 years ago and it is convenient for visiting relatives.
Review 24:Welcome and hospitality from the manager
Review 25:Had to chase twice for a VAT invoice to reclaim expenses from employer, excuse given was problem with Booking.com, but spoke to same person on both occasions and first time said he didn't have facility to send but second time when I mentioned non-compliance with HMRC he could suddenly send me an invoice immediately!
Review 26:The radiator value was broken and hence the heating was full on in the middle of the night otherwise a great good value for money place to stay
Review 27:Really friendly staff
Review 28:The guest house is listed as having complimentary toiletries - it did, but no shampoo - thats about the only fault I can find :)
Review 29:Service was excellent, very friendly and accommodating. Location was excellent for access to the motorway and Marlow, where we went for the evening. Everything was comfortable and easy.
Review 30:Nothing!
Review 31:My room was bright, clean, well decorated and very comfortable. It had everything I needed including fast, reliable wifi. The location was extremely convenient for my requirements and off road parking essential. Michael could not have been more helpful throughout my stay - great host!
Review 32:Didn't like the facilities, very poor. You can tell there was no investment made in couple of years, which is really a shame as the location is good, building as well. Fridge is the smallest and cheapest you can imagine, 0.5l kettle (maybe even smaller), TV you can watch from bed only with binoculars, double bed is little and very soft with loud squeaky noise and that is about it - there is not much else in the room.
Review 33:I must say that the best thing about the stay was the manager there called David. Great man. Very helpful and nice in every manner.
Review 34:Actually nothing. It was the place I was looking for.
Review 35:Very friendly landlord. Very comfortable and clean room including bathroom. Desk sufficiently big to be able to work comfortably. Wireless internet easy and without any problem. Quiet place, no traffic, green area. ATM and small food store in about 3 minutes walking distance.
Review 36:The bed was uncomfortable and had a dip which was hard to stay out of!!
Review 37:The host was great however he looked a bit of a mess - but was very helpful. The room was on the ground floor and had everything that we wanted including patio doors to the garden which was very pleasant. Bathroom was clean and adequate. Choice of eggs for breakfast. Close to restaurants and Indian restaurant. Easy to find and very quiet area.Chilled and relaxed
Review 38:Room was dated & tired and needed decorating and carpet needed a clean or replacing. There were spillage marks all over it. Curtains weren't hung properly they were hanging loose. The bathroom was clean however the shower head was full of hardened limescale. There were wires showing in the bathroom from the towel radiator.
Review 39:Free WiFi
Review 40:This is a guest house, not a 5 star hotel. The price reflects that, and is good value for High Wycombe. The breakfast is advertised as 'continental' and I also had scrambled eggs on toast so it was more than expected. Excellent wifi. Good shower. Good night's sleep. No evening meal so need to make other arrangements. Very helpful staff. On site parking
Review 41:Breakfast could have had more to choose from. Room very hot and windows only opened small amount
Review 42:Location, on site parking, friendly host. Very clean. Ideal for overnight business stop over and cheaper than nearby hotels.
Review 43:Breakfast was very poor. Limited choice (3) of poor quality cereals, "budget" orange juice from a carton and longlife mass-produced croissants on offer.
Review 44:The young man in charge( the only member of staff I saw) was friendly and helpful.
Review 45:David! I need an invoice for my stay: February 9 - 11 February. I paid £ 110 in cash. I need to pass the report to the accounting department. You said your boss sends me an invoice until February 17! Why I do not have it? You promised! to fulfill its obligations! How to write your boss?
Review 46:Room FREEZING!!!!.radiator stone cold, noisy electric heater grindingall night, electric extention leads everywhere... Bathroom like an iceburg no heating at all.. Breakfast - owner should be procecuted forfalse representation!!! Scrambled egg on toast only that's it!! I amcomplaining to booking, Tourist Association and barclaycard. Owner wouldnot give reduction, but manager did., But said it would be stopped outof his wages!!! Very, very poor!!! Doss house not hotel!!!!!
Review 47:Location , quiet street
Review 48:Wifi cut out occasionally, but free so can't really complain
Review 49:The manager is a legend, so friendly and approachable, you get the impression he'd go well out of his way for you Decent shower pressure, room design, quietness of room, free breakfast, free wifi, telly in room
Review 50:I didn't find the area-Wycombe interesting, that might be just me though.
Review 51:The staff was excellent, really friendly and helpful. The room was warm, comfy and the breakfast was simple yet delicious. The whole building was nice and quite, would definitely recommend it to anyone. There is a Tesco 5 minutes away on foot and an Indian restaurant just around the corner (if you own a car thats a big plus).
Review 52:The manager was very professional and friendly. The place was very clean and the double room we stayed in was very nice. I would definitely pick to stay here over any other hotels and would also definitely come back.
Review 53:Why try to find fault?
Review 54:We were well received and looked after on our short visit. Perhaps the cleanest and well presented room we have had in our long association with Bookings.com
Review 55:Mattress on bed was awful!!!!Needing replacing and felt cold against wall.
Review 56:Great welcome and assistance from staff member (David) on arrival. Room clean, tidy and modern.Good value, same standard as a hotel.
Review 57:Our host was excellent. Very friendly and made us feel at home and well looked after. The breakfast was served quickly and cooked well. We had a very enjoyable stay.
Review 58:nothing not to like - came up from online search for B & B in area: photos reliable & description of room required & facilities accurate - good price for area - no hesitation to recommend
Review 59:good base for Hughenden & other National Trust properties - quiet, comfortable, welcoming, very clean, good places to eat nearby - basic breakfast but very acceptable for budget & nature of trip - manager very pleasant & helpful when needed - easy to find & away from busy roads but close to sights
Review 60:Nothing to report on this side.
Review 61:The Gentleman is patient and polite. We were late and it was no trouble at all , we didn't feel like we had inconvenienced him, very professional. Our Bed was a memory foam and it is one of the most comfortable in comparison to over 20 hotels. The breakfast service was again of a high standard.
Review 62:We were close to a very busy road and if the window was open at night traffic could be heard,
Review 63:The hotel was clean and David who looked after the hotel was a very friendly and helpful person.
Review 64:There was a noise that did not stop for the whole night. It was like a tumble dryer on all night. I didn't sleep particularly well
Review 65:Good size room, very clean, very friendly staff, parking on the site
Review 66:Poor breakfast, water filter needed as tea had a bad taste. Croissants poor, not fresh. Smell of fried food permeated building in morning. On the top floor, wi-do connection was intermittent.
Review 67:Cleanliness, helpful staff, ample parking
Review 68:breakfast was a bit lacking in choice
Review 69:very clean a great welcome when i arrived room was good , anice place to relax a watch tv (a good choice of channels)
Review 70:Would have liked a bath rather than a shower but that's a big ask these days.
Review 71:Friendly helpful staff Good facilities Clean and Comfortable Very restful bed Enjoyable breakfast
Review 72:Breakfast is OK but basic and more on the continental line such as cereals, juice, but no Full English which was a shame.
Review 73:Very friendly staff, your made to feel instantly welcome. Spotlessly clean. Great shower and comfy beds. Excellent value for money Would definitely stay here again.
Review 74:David, the on site manager was excellent. He met us in the car park, helped carry our bags up the stairs and he really made our two night stay a pleasure. Although some parts of the rooms need refreshing (carpets, paint), the hospitality from David was exceptional and we would return for that reason.
Review 75:Nothing to dislike although it was a very hot night..
Review 76:We had an overnight stay and the Malvern was a convenient place to stay near to our destination. Hotel is clean, comfortable and the continental breakfast quite adequate. Looked after by David - a very pleasant and helpful person.
Review 77:Though advertised as a continental breakfast, there was only orange juice offered and not enough variety of cereals.
Review 78:It's Position was good, in a quiet location with an easy run into town and a couple of minutes from the motorway. The room was a good size, modern and very clean, and all the necessary things for a nights stay included. The beds were also comfortable. It was run by one person, who was very friendly and obliging.
Review 79:Nothing everything was spot on thankyou.
Review 80:Being made to feel at ease by the staff whom were very helpful. I would definitely recommend this bed&breakfast to all my friends and family. Keep up the good work.
Review 81:Basic standard of furnishings and basic quality of breakfast. Everything seemed to be done on the cheap.
Review 82:David who was running the house. A charming and helpful young man.
Review 83:Uncomfortable bed Thin walls Staff not on site upon arrival Kept awake by creaking stairs and other noise Dated interior, including rusty mirror in bathroom. Photos online poor representation of reality
