Reviews for Epavlis Hotel
Review 1:Nothing really it is just the bed was a bit hard and breakfast could have been a bit more interesting
Review 2:Lovely and clean, our room was immaculate Pool was spotless my grandchildren were swimming under water all the time and no ear infections
Review 3:Nothing bad to relay.
Review 4:Location was great in relation to Kamara and the town. Staff were helpful and friendly. Loved the accommodation except for the stairs to get to our room which was at the top of the buildings. however, it did give us provacy from above and a great view.
Review 5:Breakfast was not to a 4 star standard Owner arguing with several different people including staff in front of hotel guests.
Review 6:Hotel was extremely well kept very clean throughout. Receptionist Irini very professional and efficient. Barman madu very friendly.
Review 7:The slope leading up to the hotel at the end of a hot day at the beach!
Review 8:Brilliant views across to the sea, quite location away from all the hustle and bustle.
Review 9:Its a real shame that there isn't an outside bar area - even if it moves indoors after 8 o'clock - there is no real atmosphere or chat if that's what you are looking for. The manager or housekeeper, a blonde lady was really miserable and didn't even look you in the eye. Such a shame as the other staff including the cleaners are lovely and always speak.
Review 10:The hotel was small, quiet and very relaxed. It was a quick 5 minute walk to the beach and restaurant area. The pool area was clean and always enough sunbeds. We loved Madu the barman who was very friendly - and makes great cocktails.
Review 11:Extremely poor attitude of one staff leading low mark. No response for the questions or very poor attitude. She trends not want to answer customers. No smiles. But all the other staff are very nice and helpful. However, this is the fatal injury of this hotel, seriously affect your holiday mood!!!! Poor wifi signal in our room
Review 12:Good view nice location Excellent breakfast Most of the staff are nice and helpful
Review 13:Reception should be on main level ( where breakfast is served) as now there are too many stairs to carry luggage before you get to reception.
Review 14:Pool areas both outdoors and indoors are an added bonus to the location of this hotel which is walking distance from the beach and restaurants. Lovely balcony and bathroom is fairly large.
Review 15:*shower cabin size * shower cabin leakage (typical Greek issue) * cleaning lady "invading" our room early in the morning while we were still in bed (until we wen't to the reception to get the Do not sign)
Review 16:* the jacuzzi * water quality in the bathroom
Review 17:Staff was very rude on the phone when I called to ask for directions. When I located the place there were two female receptionists, one very angry old lady that was mumbling in greek under her breath the entire time and a younger, relatively nice lady but certainly not a stand out in any way. We were further dismayed by the rude, unhelpful man at the poolside bar. If it were not for the issues with the staff here this place would be flawless in my opinion.
Review 18:Absolutely excellent hotel overlooking the beach at the base of the mountain. The room was pristine, cool airconditioning, comfortable bed and spacious bathroom with large tub. Just outside the door on the balcony is a personal hot tub overlooking the sea. The pool area is phenomenal with a bar that opens up into the patio. Perfect in every way, at a great price. My only complaint would be with the staff.
Review 19:my only minor criticisms is that despite the air con in main bedroom it was still quite warm. Second bedroom was fine. No bed side lights but did have main light switch above bed - a bit bright if only one person wanted to read!
Review 20:Ability for whole family to be in one room comprising of 2 separate bedrooms. Location ideal for access to beach and restaurants
Review 21:I requested a room with a view in my reservation and didn't receive it. The room had a quarter of a view to the sea. It's not a 4 stars hotel. Maybe 3.5.
Review 22:The design of the hotel. The fact that it was clean. The excellent view of the sunrise. The Jacuzzi next to our room. The view to the rocky mountain behind the hotel... from the Jacuzzi. The fact that we had where to park our car. The fact that the hotel was close to the beach.
Review 23:1. The reception lady in afternoon shift with a distant face, even made a mistake to arrange a standard room instead of the sea view room we booked 2. The hotel location is hard to find as first time tourist 3. No bus directly link to airport
Review 24:1. 10 minutes walk distance to Kamari beach 2. Clean and spaceful room, comfortable bed 3. Nice sea view if you will book
Review 25:Everything was just fine, maybe the Wi-Fi could be Extended to the rooms (currently only in reception and pool area)
Review 26:The Hotel is located just above the village of Kamari, but still only 100 meters from the beach. Far enough to be in the quiet part of town but close enough to walk it in 2 minutes. Also the mountain protects from the wind. Hotel was very clean, breakfast was good. We had a room with Jacuzzi (who Needs a Jacuzzi in Greece?) which was actually very nice. If I ever visit Santorin again, it will be Epavlis Hotel again...
Review 27:Staff was helpful but not overly friendly. Felt very business like which it is I understand but little cold. We weren't allowed a late checkout.. Had a strange (methane) sewer smell coming from drains in bathroom. No major complaints though!
Review 28:Location was great. Nice being a bit away from the hustle and bustle but not too far. We had a spectacular view of Kamari beach! Nice up to date. Breakfast was great. Staff was helpful renting a car last minute.
Review 29:WiFi only works somewhat, in the reception area which is annoying. The position of the TV in the room is also odd (in the corner) The breakfasts are monotone and tasteless. The staff don't smile. The barman at the pool is hopeless at making cocktails. Officially the worst mohito and pina colada I have ever had. The beach is a bit of a hike up. We knew this when we booked though.
Review 30:The hotel runs like the clock and is very clean and tidy. Rooms are very comfortable. The receptionist is helpful with restaurants bookings and recommendations. The dogs at the hotel are quite cute.
Review 31:Overall, experience at this hotel was extremely amazing and totally exceeded expectations, we all had a great time and we will definitely go back to same hotel again. It was just perfect! It was also very nice to have a local taste, and not overly touristy feeling. The staff really made our stay in Santorini much better as they gave us a taste of Greece. The staff were amazing, very friendly and helped us with every single small request/question we had. Location was perfect, right by the beach, between two big beautiful mountains, view was spectacular. It was also very close to the restaurants and shopping areas, where there was a great selection of local and also touristy places to go. The room was excellent, even better than the pictures, very comfortable with a jacuzzi and an amazing balcony.
Review 32:Thank you to Maria (owner) and all the staff who were wonderful and made us feel at home in Kamari with our two daughters aged 1 and 4 years old. Merci beaucoup Maria
Review 33:Hotel is twenty minutes walk up a steep hill from the sea beach. The Santorini beach has no sand. Just a lot of black sharp pebbles that continue into the sea. Many stairs. Not for the elderly. Poor to fair breakfast.
Review 34:Nice and clean rooms. Pretty hotel architecture. Small but nice swimming pool. We had great views of the sea. Not all guests did, though.
Review 35:AC did not work properly . Room was always warm. Wi fi in the bedrooms did not work altough they say it is free in bedrooms and commom areas. In the web site seems like the hotel is in front of the beach. It is not! It is a walking distance. Bath tube was not very clean and the shower has only a curtain that is not enough to keep the water from watering the bathroom.
Review 36:Kamari is the nicest beach in Santorini, but is very far from Oia. Nothing in the hotel was noteworthy
Review 37:Booked room was given away in spite of repeated e-mail confirmations, inferior room was offered at a reduced rate. Attitude at 20h00: take it or leave it.
Review 38:We almost thought we would have to call the police at a certain point because one of its employees (in charge of fixing things, apparently) started screaming at us inside our room and acting in an extremely aggressively way just because we asked to be moved to a room where the TV was actually working (It was broken, and since they would't fix it and also don't have wifi in the rooms, you basically get completely isolated at that place). After that, we called the reception about the incident and an ancient lady in charge treated us with sarcasm, saying that "things like that happen" and that if we wanted to watch TV, we should go to the lobby. Some minutes later the same ancient guy appeared in the room with an insane look and heavy steps (after slamming the door when leaving for the first time) with another tv to replace, and left it there over a chair mumbling stuff like "are you happy now?". The new TV was woking, but we left the next morning anyway. That was a traumatizing experience and certainly the lowest point of our travel to Greece.
Review 39:It could be an okay hotel if some people working there weren't scarely aggressive towards themselves and the guests. That was obvious right from the start when we arrived at the reception and a lady (who seemed to be the owner) was yelling at the phone with someone right there in front of us while another lady was making the check in.
Review 40:the location on a hill at the end of the beach. facilities are too small, wifi did not work, staff unfriendly. much better and cheaper options direct on the beach kamari
Review 41:the lobby
Review 42:The internet connection (on the whole island, apparently) was often slow or absent (a chance to fully disconnect from the rest of the world, so not entirely a negative!). Looking around, we felt that we could have stayed in a cheaper place being equally close to the sea, especially since we did not really need the facilities that the hotel offers.
Review 43:The location is great, 200m from the beach! Great choice of savoury and sweet selections for breakfast. The staff were extremely helpful, trying to accommodate our every request. The rooms are clean and of a good size. We stayed in a superior room with sea view and it way very charming.
Review 44:The wifi got overloaded in the afternoon (when everyone is chilling by the pool) and there was only very weak wifi in our room. If you are in Santorini for the sunset only, then go to Oia (Kamari is like 30min drive away from there).
Review 45:The hotel is located right opposite to the Kamari Red Beach (about 5-10min walk) and there are many dining options by the beach.
Review 46:The wifi was not very good inside the room. However, it was good in the lobby.
Review 47:The staff was nice and very helpful. The breakfast was plentiful and provided a lot of different foods. The location- proximity to the beach and town activities was great.
Review 48:When we went to check in we were told our room wasn`t available so they would put us on the seafront for 2 nights. After travelling all day we just wanted to get settled in our own room and start our holiday. The gil at the front desk could smile more. We found out that this happened to other people arriving. One couple refused and said they wanted their room.
Review 49:Beautiful and very clean. Michael at the bar is wonderful.
Review 50:Poor wifi availability
Review 51:having to come home
Review 52:set a little way back from beach and possible noise
Review 53:Terrible
Review 54:Gorgeous setting, close to the beach, staff were very helpful.
Review 55:The staff was very helpful and the large beach at Kamari simply spectacular!
Review 56:Fantastic time in such a clean, quiet hotel. Lovely room with fab sea view xx
Review 57:Very bad breakfast. No WiFi at all.
Review 58:Nothing.
Review 59:The staff was very helpful and nice The pool was very nice And the location was perfect as it was close to centre but away from the main street
Review 60:pool good ,breakfast good staff helpful
Review 61:Nothing all ggod.
Review 62:Leisure facilities were excellent. Good location and staff very helpful.
Review 63:The staff seems always not happy. No happy employees no good service.
Review 64:Come and enjoy your standing in Epavlis. It is really worth it!
Review 65:Beautiful and very clean, good helpful staff. The owner (Maria) was very sweet and the hotel was the best one in Kamari.
Review 66:Cleanliness. Good helpful staff who were prepared to go extra mile. Very good breakfast.
Review 67:Service in the lobby- to much relax. Some small things to be a very good hotel!
Review 68:Location, food,
Review 69:A bit far from the beach, wifi works partly and only at the pool area
Review 70:New, beautiful, nice rooms, nice and helpfull stuff, good breakfest
Review 71:Staff were not friendly.
Review 72:The location was great.
Review 73:Slightly over priced. Breakfast basic.
Review 74:Good hotel, very clean, slight walk into Kamari but the view on the hillside is worth it.
Review 75:Some lack of friendliness of the manager.
Review 76:The location close to Kamari beach, and the mountain.
Review 77:The room smell, the bad internet connection
Review 78:Breakfast, view, room space
Review 79:Traditional Greek Island Hotel located far from the crowded areas. Beautiful views and very friendly staff that made our trip very enjoyable.
Review 80:Not enough sunbeds, towels on the beds very early. Some people might find the walk up the hill to the hotel too much although not an issue for us. Reception not always manned and sometimes had quite a wait just to get room key.
Review 81:Very clean hotel with great sea views and good location near to beach, bars and restaurants.
Review 82:The organization/management of the hotel. We arrived there on the day, completed the checkin documents and were then told that there was "a problem" with our room and that it was "not ready", so we were moved to a different hotel for two nights. While a hotel of similar price, it was nowhere near the quality of this one. After some negotiation, we were given a car for two days and put in a jacuzzi room (we booked non jacuzzi) as compensation. As it turns out, the "problem" was overbooking. And during the 8 days we did spend at the hotel, we counted at least 6 or 7 other groups of people (mostly couples) in the same situation. We understand that, as a hotel, they took bookings through a myriad of different means, but that should not excuse them from properly checking that they have the spaces necessary. All in all, we like the hotel and what it offered, but given the experience with the overbooking we would probably not go there again.
Review 83:The location of the hotel, while a bit further away from the beach, gave it a great view over the rest of Kamari, with rooms set up to take advantage of this. The rooms matched up to the pictures on the website and were cleaned daily. Breakfast served at the hotel was good and varied, meaning that even after 8 days one would not get bored of it.
Review 84:Breakfast had a small selection but ok! More variety would have been nice wifi only worked in public places
Review 85:The location The pool/bar man Michael The pool The rooms
Review 86:WiFi was not working! But the PC in lobby was working fine.
Review 87:Nice room with fantastic see-side view. This hotel is VERY clean. Breakfast was of reasonable good standard.
Review 88:Hotel is not child friendly as the whole hotel has beautiful marble all over the floor which when wet near the pools or if it rains is so slippy. The bar prices are crazy vs other places nearby. €5 for a large beer vs €3 in other places. Sunbeds can be in short supply as.the pool area isn't the biggest.
Review 89:Really helpful staff. Nice breakfast with good choice of foods. Big rooms with air con. Lovely views over the sea which is a short walk away. Nice and quiet hotel.
Review 90:Nothing
Review 91:The hotel is beautiful - modern, stylish and extremely spotless. The staff were very helpful and breakfast was great. I would definitely stay here again.
Review 92:the road to the hotel is not well paved
Review 93:very friendly and helpful staff. room with breathtaking views of the sea. attention and care of the guest, especially towards children. range of services available including two swimming pools, bar open until 22, hammam, gym and playground for children and adults. breakfast buffet was plentiful with fresh desserts. kamari beach 100 meters away.
Review 94:Area is more touristy than the other Greek island we had been to - Hydra
Review 95:Beautiful hotel. Very clean. Easy walk to beach and bus route. Beautiful view. Liked the candies. Gave us a early check in and late check out.
Review 96:Breakfast could have been more varied and be served until later I.e. 11am instead of 10.30. Hotel is located up a steepish hill which was a pull in the heat!
Review 97:Style of hotel, cleanliness, changing & locker facilities for last day after checkout, friendliness of staff.
Review 98:No coffee machines in the room.
Review 99:Nice resort, very close to kamari beach.
Review 100:Wouldn't rate it as a four star based on price paid.
Review 101:Good location
Review 102:One of the head staff was not very friendly.
Review 103:The location was perfect and so close to the beach and restaurants.
Review 104:The receptionist was rude and the barman was very slow
Review 105:Location was great. Views spectacular. Very clean and well maintained hotel.
Review 106:sound-transmission
Review 107:staff, clean, location, comfort
Review 108:Very hard beds. Noisy guests around the pool bar until 1am
Review 109:5 minute walk from the town, clean,
Review 110:Wonderful family run hotel. Well designed to provide optimum views. Quiet environment. Close enough to bars/restaurants.
Review 111:heated pool was not yet heated...no tea kettle in room
Review 112:casual relaxed atmosphere, cleanliness of room, spacious
