Reviews for Redwings Lodge Wolverhampton Central
Review 1:Hotel was cold although room was warm. Decor was very tired and the mattress was the worst I have ever slept on. Also have to pay for parking which is not mentioned when booking.
Review 2:Felt the room was missing something. The TV was too small and far away from the bed. The TV didn't have DVD player functions. Changed to another room, the TV was better situated but still the TV was too small and no DVD player functions. The WiFi didn't work. The bathroom was pokey and the handles in the shower room were rusty and grotty. Not enough tea and coffee make faculties. Plus the fire alarm went off at around 4am, no one seemed to know what was happening or where to go.
Review 3:Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 4:The breakfast was awful, tasted like rubber expected more value of food for the price. Also the tv did not have all the common channels e.g 1 2 3
Review 5:The bed was comfortable ,good nights sleep clean bathroom and bedroom ,The staff was friendly and helpful e.g brought us a travel cot up on request,Also there was plenty of room for the travel cot aswell as the double and single beds.
Review 6:Bad customer service. Lights were off in corridors. Noisy corridors. Horrible smell in corridors. Noisy outside. Silver fish in carpet due to damp in room
Review 7:I enjoyed my previous stay to this one
Review 8:We hated the 10am checkout time as we were used to 12pm when it was a Travelodge. There was no information about this in the paperwork or in the room and we weren't told when we checked in. We were woken by the chambermaid!!!!
Review 9:I didnt like on my first stay how there wasnt a bath in the room althought i tries to request one.
Review 10:I loved the heating in the room and the space in the main bedroom
Review 11:No WiFi as advertised - worked briefly on second day, then off again. Keys worked intermittently. TV unusable due to poor reception. Checkin duty staff unhelpful/unresponsive - on 2 occasions she undertook to deal with issues promptly, inc. a room change request and she appeared to have 'forgotten' about us. We were later told she was busy and then that there is no other room available. After 2 days poor service and facility, we checked out a day early. We got a day's refund but think we should have been refunded more.
Review 12:Good Price, if only facilities and staff were better.
Review 13:Room not ready on arrival (8.30pm) even though booked 5 months previously. Carpet was dirty and couldn't be hoovered due to time of preparing room. Staff member shared her dismay, complete with swearing, at having to prepare all family rooms that day to another member of staff, in earshot of us.
Review 14:Food was good Hotel was quiet (room faced car park)
Review 15:The room was very clean and quiet. The matress was soft (a bit too much for me, but that's a personal preference). Overall a very good choice for a few nights.
Review 16:My ground floor room was adjacent to a busy ring road junction, I like the window open so there was constant traffic noise. A fee to park my car was unexpected. No hairdryer in the room. The coffee was Nescafe, a company with no integrity.
Review 17:The hotel was conveniently situated for the venue of my event. The bed was comfortable
Review 18:You have to pay 5 pounds for 24 hours to park. Asked when arrived if they had veggie bangers it was confirmed they did when I went for breaks I was told they did not have any if your paying 7 50 or so for it and enquire up front is not good
Review 19:No drawers , had to live out of my suitcase for 3 days.Shower plug hole drained so slowly that I had to turn it off to allow it to drain
Review 20:Very comfy bed. Spacious and place to hang dresses . The staff let me leave my suitcase after checking out as I wasn't travelling back until 4 pm
Review 21:If you are noise-sensitive ask for a room facing the carpark rather than the main road - the road gets very busy in the morning and the window, even when closed, does not fully block out noise from the traffic.
Review 22:Great value for money, modern bathroom, central location, friendly staff
Review 23:Car park is very tight and angled, paying for parking separate to the hotel seems wrong, parking machine with no lighting, the secondary car park had trip hazard - ie lump of concrete where barrier had been removed. Woken by skip lorry at 6.30 am - its a hotel where people sleep, arrange visits at a more user friendly time. Postode on the booking gives directions to the ringroad pedestrain entrance NOT the car park in back streets.
Review 24:Central location, bar selling pizza after a night out and security with key card access to all floors. Bed really comfy. Friendly reception and bar staff.
Review 25:Dirty. Food crumbs etc looked like it was completely unhoovered. Mouldaround bathroom fittings. 10 foot from 3 lane ring road but with noaircon, the only ventilation was from opening window = disturbed sleep.Lumpy uncomfortable pillows. Threadbare curtains. Was hoping for a liein but checked at at 6 am in disgust. Budget it may have been but it wasfar short of basic minimum standards. As yet no response from management(or from booking.com) about my complaint.
Review 26:Fantastic value - a clean and fairly spacious room for less than £40 a night. Staff were lovely and even thought you had to pay for the car park (£5), the room was only £38 so it was still great value.
Review 27:U charged me for parking when u could give ur customers free parking plus not much facilities in the room, bed weren't comfy, deco was outclassed
Review 28:Easy to get to location I wanted to go to, size of the room
Review 29:I have no complaints, everything went like clock-work Big thank you to all at the Redwing Lodge
Review 30:everything,reception very helpful especially with taxi, and luggage and I will be back
Review 31:We didnt know check out was 10 o'clock usually 12..the maid banged on door at 10 and walked in even though do not disturb was on door, we were still in bed!! Not enough car park spaces.
Review 32:Convenient for town centre. Comfy beds.
Review 33:The mattress , you could feel every spring.
Review 34:Staff make the difference this could have been just ok but their friendliness and helpfulness elevate the experience.
Review 35:Large iron burn on the carpet. Two "bed" room, one of the beds was a pull out sofa bed. No remote for TV on arrival or hair dryer despite shampoo. Despite purchasing an hour later checkout for £10, room cleaning barged in an hour before as they were not told we'd purchased a late checkout.
Review 36:Close to city centre. Fair pricing. Open 24 hours. Bar downstairs of the building.
Review 37:Booking.com said I could reserve a parking space for £5. On arrival found out this was not the case & the car park was full. Managed to squeeze the car into an unofficial space! Not really the hotels fault, said they have this problem with booking.com, needs rectifying.
Review 38:Close to town centre. Friendly staff, clean comfortable room. Bar open 24/7.
Review 39:Street noise, no phone to call the reception, check out is very early not as same as time of check in
Review 40:The cleanness.. Warm big room, big bed.. Nice bathroom
Review 41:Just need mirrors over the table as the other long mirror was far away to put make up on and need more plug sockets in room only 1
Review 42:Very nice staff and clean room and reasonable price
Review 43:I don't like this survey. We're neither a young couple nor a mature couple. One of us is 25, the other is 52. Where's the tick-box for that?
Review 44:It was all good
Review 45:Everything was great. The staff are so helpful & friendly, parking was fab & the location is perfect for us as we went to a gig at the Civic which is just up the road. We will definitely be coming back ?
Review 46:No issues
Review 47:Stayed here for £15 each excellent value, ensuite rooms, good staff, car park only £5 for 24hrs although is 1st come 1st served. For cost I would highly recommend.
Review 48:TV in room didn't work. Kept locking myself in the bathroom, either only went in when my husband was there or kept the door open. Could have been cleaner.
Review 49:It's location to the Civic Hall.
Review 50:The noise from the ring road only 3m from my pillow. You have to renew parking every 24hrs as can't buy any longer period
Review 51:Good location in centre of town
Review 52:I felt that the room had not been adequately cleaned. There were hair shavings in the wash basin and toilet. A piece of toilet paper had not been flushed down the wc. There was also an old, stained mattress lying on the floor between the wall and the bed. I wasn't entirely sure that the sheets had been changed because the top sheet was crumpled and had not been smoothed and patted down. There were also bits of paper left on the writing desk along with a 10p coin!
Review 53:I thought the staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The location is good, close to the centre. The bar and restaurant are good for this type of hotel with the bar open 24 hours. The bedrooms are a decent size and the bathroom has a bath and shower with all the fittings working well. The bed was quite comfortable and so were the pillows. The hotel security was pretty good too, so good that I had to wait outside the hotel to be let in after 10.30pm.
Review 54:no WIFI as brocken. Windows let in too much noise. Unfrotunately had a family that thought it was OK to have load conversations with doors opens between the rooms past midnight. Everytime i got up it stopped and happened again.
Review 55:The night recpetion was welcoming and heated my room up for my arrival
Review 56:Bed was a bit like a trampoline. Car parking is extra money. No breakfast either. Everything extra.
Review 57:Fair price and decent location. Bit like a travel lodge. Staff were pretty friendly.
Review 58:No choice of food very little and no all day breakfast for late risers
Review 59:Staff were very helpful and friendly rooms clean and we were moved to a twin room with no problems short distance to train station ,race course and town
Review 60:A good list of 24 hours room service food with only Pizza left by 7.30pm when we left so got food to bring back later on as we didn't want to take the chance of there being nothing
Review 61:We had a fantastic stay - basic room but so clean with everything you would need. The staff were very friendly, with one in particular called Kim who gave us directions, served us in the bar and advised us on somewhere to eat in Ironbridge, our next destination. Next time we come to the Slade rooms for a gig, we will definately be staying here
Review 62:Unfortunately the pile of glass which appeared to have been from a car made me anxious about leaving my vehicle in the car park.
Review 63:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice.
Review 64:Very helpful staff at front desk and in cafe. The place is vegan-friendly, which was a bonus. Car park charges are a bit off-putting but it's close to City Centre and in walking distance of where I wanted to be.
Review 65:We stayed in Redwings as a group of 12 adults and 9 kids, we have to credit the staff with their friendliness and helpfulness. Rooms were basic yet very very clean and serviced every day, great location for Centre of town we well as Wolverhampton Wanderers stadium.
Review 66:The room was reasonable although the carpet was a bit dirty on arrival, there was an awful sound of motors running all night on at least three of the five nights I stayed there. The parking facilities were particularly unfriendly, as I am a disabled driver I found the slope of the car park to be very inhospitable. The choice of food in the restaurant/cafe was very limited and the staff on arrival unfriendly.
Review 67:Not much really.
Review 68:They didnt have two single beds I went with my son to a rugby match and we had to split the double with him sleeping on the floor. In other hotels a double can easily be converted to two singles
Review 69:I was disappointed that breakfast was only served from 8am on a weekend - my son was taking part in a swimming gala where warm-up started at 8am so we were unable to have breakfast. Also our bathroom floor hadn't been cleaned properly as when I moved the bin there was a large amount of hair from the previous guests - though the actual facilities (toilet; bath; shower) were clean.
Review 70:The room was spacious, comfortable bed. It was handy having the restaurant which wasn't overpriced. The 24hr snack service was handy even though we didn't use it.
Review 71:Awful kitchen staff, took an hour and a half for our pizza to materialise, was supposed to be contacted when ready due to a so called emergency. Only to be then hounded by other guests at our door at the early outs of the morning. When complained to staff nothing was done
Review 72:Great location, excellent reception staff
Review 73:Would be good to have a hairdryer ..even one of those nailed to the wall.
Review 74:Staff couldn't have been more helpful. I hadn't realised at first when I got to my room that it was roadside and as a very light sleeper I found I couldn't get to sleep. With an important meeting the next day I went back to reception to see if they could change my room. They found me another room adjacent to the car park which was really quiet - no fuss, and no problem in changing me. I was extremely grateful!
Review 75:The was an over whelming smell of bleach when we entered our room. I appreciate that the room had been cleaned but the window should've been left ajar to clear the air.
Review 76:We were going to a concert at the Wulfren Hall which was only 5 mins walk away. The staff were fantastic and came outside the hotel and showed us a quick cut through to the venue
Review 77:I booked 3 rooms for friends and myself, all 3 rooms had a bit of a nasty damp smell but you didn't notice it after a while. The bed mattresses you could tell were cheap, not the most comfy and very springy kind of trampoline like, but the springy part did help with some of the late night activities ;) over the weekend there is on street parking just behing the hotel but my friends car did get broken into.
Review 78:The location is good and it's easy to get into the centre of town for a night out. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were a good size with a decent shower. The men fighting naked in the hall was also a high point of the night! They have parking on-site which is over two small carparks, gets busy so get there early to get a spot.
Review 79:I didn't like the fact that we had to be out of the room by 10am. Every where else I've stayed at, has been a noon checkout.
Review 80:The room was clean and functional and the bed was very comfy.
Review 81:About a 15 minute walk from the rail station and only a 5 minute walk from the centre of Wolverhampton itself. The staff were very helpful and I was allowed to use the facilities of the bar area while I waited to book in, this appeared to be a standard thing for guests. The rooms were clean and neat, the beds comfortable and all the facilities you would normally expect. Definitely will use again!
Review 82:thought it was a little too early checkout and breakfast could have been a little better organised i think it would not be able to cope if everybody went at roughly same time
Review 83:we went down for the wolves and huddersfield town game the hotel was an excellent location with only a short 10 minute walk in to the town centre staff very friendly and will definitely be going back
Review 84:Asked for disabled or ground floor room was put in a room on first floor furthest from the lift whilst my able bodied daughter & friend were near the lift, why ask for special requirement if there are none?. No orange or apple juice at breakfast. One set of towels for two people. No bin or TV remote.
Review 85:Not a lot
Review 86:Lumpy bed, the sheets were not on properly therefore i had to redo them, walk into a cold room, the halls smelt like out of date yogurt, and a used period pad in the bathroom...also, we were interrupted although we paid late checkout, and had the 'do not disturb' sign on our door
Review 87:It was not as bad as i thought, the room, basic but the essentials were there.
Review 88:Had been quoted a price when booking over IT but when arrived tried to charge double the rate.
Review 89:Spacious but clinical rooms. Tea & Coffee making facilities. Basic toiletries provided. Good location. Good for overnight stay.
Review 90:The beds are a little soft and the walls quite thin, so if the person next door has their TV on you can really hear it.
Review 91:The staff are so helpful, friendly and accommodating. Nothing is too much. 24 hour reception is really great. Location useful. Breakfast selection is enough. Ideal for working away.
Review 92:Apart from the loo paper the hotel was very basic. The bar area was very unwelcoming, a few soft seats would have been nice there. Breakfast : scrambled egg was freshly put our but overcooked from the start I hate to think what it would have been like after standing on the hotplate a while, the baked beans were poor quality too, the rest of the breakfast was ok but nothing to get excited about.
Review 93:Despite the very basic rooms fixtures and fittings it provided top quality quilted toilet paper! Something that is often missing from higher priced hotels! Plenty of room in the shower cubicle
Review 94:Tried to order numerous meals at the bar but were told they were not available, looked at menu to order alternatives and they were also unavailable. Would be easier to have a board saying what was available and not a menu showing you what wasn't available. Had same issue with limited draught drinks available. Insufficient parking.
Review 95:The staff were pleasant and helpful and the bar was open 24hr's. Generally very clean and tidy. Rooms basic but comfortable.
Review 96:Only three disabled parking spots which when taken ,involves a walk up a slope to reach door ,impossible for many people especially if you are forced to use far car park
Review 97:The fact that suitable rooms were found for us as my wife is disabled ,the staff are very helpful in all respects ,good value for money
Review 98:Avoid at rush hour, took us 45 minutes to travel two miles from motorway to hotel. Also very limited parking. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss, staff found it difficult to keep up with demand - coffee machine ran out, milk ran out, had to wait for bacon, by the time it arrived sausages had run out! Gave up in the end, just had a bacon sandwich. Quite expensive at £7.50 when all I had was a bacon sandwich and powdered coffee. Also one towel for two people, thought that was a bit strange!
Review 99:Basic but clean. staff helpful as there was a mix up with booking initially.
Review 100:The Staff don't want to help, blaming everything on the head office. The beds are not comfortable at all. The checkout time very early before you wake up it's time to checkout no time for breakfast. Poor breakfast choice.
Review 101:The location of the hotel.
Review 102:The main light in the bedroom didn't work - although I reported this it wasn't fixed during my stay. Also one night I came back to find the room hadn't been cleaned - I wasn't impressed.
Review 103:The hotel is in a good central location close to the town centre. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful. The room was quiet.
Review 104:Far to much traffic noise and very uncomfortable bed, this room was £69 and definitely not worth it, £35 maybe at a push. Won't be staying again.
Review 105:Staff where very friendly and nice.
Review 106:There was two thing we wasn't happy with paying for parking and my wife doesn't eat meat so very little for her for breakfast
Review 107:Location as above staff value for money
Review 108:Mix up with booking no room on hotel record for second night of my stay despite the fact I had confirmation email for that night. Luckily they were able to sort this
Review 109:The bed matress was not very good you could feel all the springs, also there was a main light out in the room, and the toilet seat was loose
Review 110:The Location of the hotel for what we had to do.
Review 111:Check in times needs to be earlier and flexible
Review 112:Good location, close to city centre. Cheap parking £5 overnight. Staff helpful very good rate in comparison to travelodges
Review 113:Uncomfortable mattress, felt like there were a couple of springs coming through. Road side was very noisy, car park side would have been great
Review 114:Very friendly and efficient. Evening meal was very good value as well.
Review 115:Originally gave 4doubles instead of family and 3doubles then offered a mattress on floor until eventually offered a family. Noise nuisance from others.
Review 116:The staff were really helpful, even walking with me to where I had parked my car so they could direct me to their car park. The room was clean, tidy, and well presented and everything worked out just fine. Even KFC (which I had for tea) was only a short walk away.
Review 117:Small car park was full when I arrived, altho I'd tried to book a space on line. Busy at reception when I arrived after 8pm. Issues with booking.com and no record of my booking, so had overbooked. Managed to get a room fairly quickly, although a young couple walked in to my room 2 minutes later, having been allocated the same one! All resolved ok. No remote for TV. Another guest reported same problem when I was checking in. I didn't bother to report as was watching football in the bar. Climbed on end of bed to operate switches for breakfast news in the morning.
Review 118:Reasonably comfortable bed and nice warm shower. Room was very clean. Great value for money at £34.95 room only (excluding parking) for same day booking when Birmingham hotels all booked up and charging over £100 for few remaining rooms. Staff very helpful, friendly and apologetic for booking problems.
Review 119:There was no milk when first arrived....
Review 120:That you still have sub-titles on your televisions as I am partially-deaf and rely on this. Also still happy with the tea-making stuff you provide in each room.
Review 121:Room smelled of smoke, very noisy in the night - people arguing and playing loud music. Also some kind of machine noise either air con unit or from kitchen - not conducive for a good night's sleep. Shower was poor and didn't drain v well.
Review 122:Good location close to town with lots of free parking nearby. Perfect for the Wolverhampton marathon
Review 123:Bedroom had very poor noise insulation and you could hear the traffic outside on the busy main ring road all night so I didn't get any sleep. The breakfast didn't start until 8am, thought I read that it started at 7 am, this was a disaster for me as I was running the Wolverhampton marathon at 9am.
Review 124:The staff were really nice.
Review 125:Although not a bad experience we had stayed here when it was a Travelodge and the mattresses definitely felt less firm and the cost seemed more expensive.
Review 126:Staff were friendly and helpful
Review 127:Room was filthy and smelt of stale cigarettes , the bed was too soft and when you lay on it you rolled into the middle because it was broke , the walls were covered in stains Also . The corridor was dirty and had used towels on the floor outside rooms that were left there from the previous day . Overall very disappointed and will not be staying again
Review 128:Shambolic organisation, got our booking wrong, didn't know what bedsthey had in which rooms, ran out of all draught lagers on a Saturdayafternoon, hotel ok for the £18pppn we ended up paying. Any more thanthat, it wouldn't have been vfm !
Review 129:Location is great for getting into the city centre with its bars &restaurants.
Review 130:The only fault I have was we stayed on second floor and the minute we hit that floor the heat was unreal, thank god for the fan in the room.
Review 131:The staff were very friendly, the location was great especially for my 15 year old son because the Wolverhampton soccer stadium was right next to us about a 100 yards or so. We stayed in the back of the hotel and it was very quiet, heard nothing tru the night. Good security in the hotel because you can't get in unless you have a key. The room was cleaned every day which was great, the room was very clean and basic and as long as it was clean that's the main thing. We had a fan in our room for the week which was great as it was very warm. It is definitly value for money. The wifi was brilliant never had fault wit it.
Review 132:I wouldn't call it a bad experience really. After my 1st night, I was out of the hotel all day and left my room a bit untidy. I expected room service or cleaners to have come in while I'm out to clean and tidy things up. But I came back at night to meet my room the same way I left it. I guess they expected a prior request for the room to be cleaned. But, it's all good.
Review 133:The bed is quite comfy. Rooms really clean and exceeded my expectation. Wifi was fast. Location was good, close to the my events centre. Overall, I did enjoy my 3night stay.
Review 134:Wasnt up to standards for the £101 I payed.. The room smelt of sweat and room was entered and my property was moved.. I'm covered in bites from the bedding.. No parking spaces spaces.. When we left staff took room card then disappeared so could not complain.
