Reviews for Samlesbury Hotel

Review 1:If you were staying in the hotel for any length of time, there wasn't much to do there - no games room, pool or gym, and the TV in the room was really a bit too small to watch movies on

Review 2:Simple, clean, lots of parking and good value for money in a convenient location. Staff were all very friendly, if inexperienced

Review 3:Room was super cold. Like freezing. The radiator was turned up to the max and we still were not comfortable enough to get undressed without shivering. Ended up sleeping in layers of clothing to combat the cold. Also because the rooms are so small and right off the hallway you can hear everything: people walking by, loud conversations, carts that roll by. The whole 9.

Review 4:Loved how easy it was to find and its proximity to restaurants and shopping areas. Staff was super friendly. Very clean. Fabulous lounge and bar.

Review 5:Bizarrely, a driving license copy is "required" to stay there (despite being a UK national), generated by a nonsensical security policy. No air con in room.

Review 6:Good general facilities, helpful staff.

Review 7:I asked the hotel for a taxi number and they called a cab. We're going 1.1 mile (5 of us) the cab arrived with £16 on the meter and continued to meter us. We were charged £19.90 for the 1 mile trip. The hotel said because the firm was based in Preston they charge a fee. (I wasn't told this before hand) for the return journey I called a cab (local) same 5 passengers and the fare was £5 - the hotel should not be using a firm that charged guests extortionate rates and should look at using a local firm.

Review 8:I have no complaints about the hotel or facilities or the service of the staff - all very polite and accomodating

Review 9:From the greeting at the reception by Heather to the breakfast in the morning and everything in between, the whole stay was a brilliant experience. Will definitely stay there again !!

Review 10:The comfort and open spaces. We have family and friends in Garstang and Chorley so location is very central for visiting but gives us our own personal space as well

Review 11:The only fault we could say is that on the menu it stated room service 24 hrs for cold sandwiches. When we rang the gent said that there was no room service with no explanation. My husband asked if they had ran out? If so we would have another option. The gent still stated no room service with no explanation. Eventually we got room service and what we had originally wanted once my husband stated he was not happy.

Review 12:The hotel was immaculate and the facilities were excellent. The food was good. The bed was comfy.

Review 13:unfortunately and unusually (I've stayed before with no problems), the heating in my room didn't work and even though someone came to try to sort it out it didn't work until the morning- but it was good once working again.

Review 14:I love that there's a gym in the hotel and it's near a motorway and to my son's University. It was a really good value price and the extras like a good coffee machine were a treat-lovely and clean and good shower

Review 15:Its the little touches here and there that make any hotel extra special. This hotel is run as though it was five star which quite honestly it is. Very warm & friendly staff but proffessional all the way. We had a lovely stay.

Review 16:not accurate info on the booking confirmation re. location // additional driving time was required to find this place :-(

Review 17:very nice mattress - very quite and cozy

Review 18:£5 charge for room service is ridiculous ! The breakfast we was served which was £10 was very basic, no toast or jam and no condiments. Bed was very uncomfortable and woken up by a tv in the next room from 6am (obviously not the hotels fault).

Review 19:Smart looking hotel with friendly staff

Review 20:Very hard bed and pillows so got little sleep. Plumbing a bit suspect too. Plus nasty musty damp smell in corridors - maybe a few plumbing issues hollowing recent refurbishment need sorting out Shame as otherwise a really nice hotel

Review 21:Very handy fir the M6/Preston Good breakfast and loads of parking

Review 22:Not much choice on the menu. Was told that a receipt was not possible on the morning of departure.

Review 23:The staff were very helpful during the checking in process. Very comfortable room and spotlessly clean.

Review 24:slightly slow service in dining room - vegetables arrived about 5 minutes after main course and also no-one asked if we needed more drinks. when we did order more they took some tine to come. Nonetheless, staff were helpful and friendly overall.

Review 25:very good room and excellent shower.

Review 26:Booked this hotel as we were at a wedding at the nearby Samlesbury Hall. This was the closest hotel to the wedding venue and was a very lovely hotel indeed! Very happy with all aspects of it.

Review 27:There was a music event on at the hotel which ran until 2.00 am and was very noisy. Wouldn't have booked if we had known.

Review 28:Good location, pleasant staff, room of a good standard

Review 29:No complaints. Maybe a later checkout than 11 so we could enjoy the room some more.

Review 30:Everything! Huge bed. Excellent powerful shower and general look of the room was beautiful.

Review 31:Would have liked a bath in the room, not made clear. More choice of fruit and cereals at breakfast. Needed fresh tea served in a teapot.

Review 32:Staff friendly and helpful

Review 33:Desk rather small for working and chair not supportive enough for sitting at the desk. Menu limited for healthy low fat food e.g. salmon steak with vegetables - all had high fat accompaniments (which were gorgeous by the way!).

Review 34:Lovely modern hotel. Comfortable room.

Review 35:Staff weren,t very welcoming in fact they were really miserable. Theyopened the Club Lounge bar an hour and a half late and not until weasked. There were no slippers in our room and we were a dressing gownshort. We still didnt get any slippers even after asking.

Review 36:Comfortable bed and really clean

Review 37:Paying £140 for other eventualities - ie drinks etc to be charged to the room should be an added extra

Review 38:Staff couldn't do enough for us. We were there for a wedding and they went out of their way to help us with early check in

Review 39:Family room was a bit on the small side.

Review 40:Food was excellent very good value for money, full English breakfast, exceptional evening meals, and very pleasant staff made sure our needs were catered for.

Review 41:We lıked everythıng,,,,,,we were there for a famıly reunıon and every body,,,enjoyed the stay, the food was, great, and the menu,s were ınterestıng and ımagınatıve,whıch ıs unusual,,,,,,,,,

Review 42:Despite arranging an invoice on account at check-in I got a call to say I needed to call with credit card details.

Review 43:Hotel is up-to-date and clean with those extra touches to make it more like home.

Review 44:Only one staff member not so smiley.

Review 45:Very comfortable bed, clean room. Friendly efficient staff. Great location for exploring area. 11am checkout very useful.

Review 46:Excellently renovated hotel in a spacious modern open plan style creates a very pleasant environment. Very good facilities and surprisingly spacious bedrooms decorated to a high standard. Very good staff. Good value for money.

Review 47:Everything, the staff are excellent, the stay was brilliant, the food was fantastic, I am a Gluten free person, a Coeliac, full blown, but it was not a problem, breakfast was brilliant, toasted Gluten free bread, I love the place, easy to get to Liverpool, Blackpool, Morecambe, and I get to play the piano in the reception. It is my 3/4/6th stay? I dont know, my wife, is in a motor wheelchair, no problem, just a great hotel, but it's the staff, they make it. Just write a sentence, mmmmm.

Review 48:The bathroom had black colouring in the grout. the taxi companies were dreadful and really expensive just to go about a mile just a warning .

Review 49:Staff were really friendly. Food in bar excellent.

Review 50:No hot plates for breakfast meaning food went cold very quickly. Would have preferred a hot cooked meal straight from kitchen.

Review 51:Dinner was excellent but could benefit from a greater choice apart from this top marks for service.

Review 52:Food is a bit over priced. Although didn't get charged for part of a meal we had to send back as it was very poor.

Review 53:Very good value for money. Great decor.

Review 54:The room we stayed in was on the ground floor but only had one side light which ment there was no light in the room with not very much natural light. We booked a taxi in the morning to take us to beeson manor but the staff did struggle to arrange a taxi as there is not much around where the hotel is situated

Review 55:Very nice clean hotel, breakfast was very good

Review 56:I absolutely adore this hotel. We are often in Preston for work and this is the first choice for the company when choosing accommodation. Rooms are well appointed, always clean, the food is excellent and the staff approachable.

Review 57:After a tiring day we arrived back at the hotel at ~ 4.30 to find our room not yet serviced

Review 58:The staff were friendly and generally helpful. Quality of the food was good

Review 59:In our original room the television did not work and one of the bedside lamps was faulty. It was making a fizzing noise as if it was about to explode. We contacted reception and they sent two members of staff to rectify the matter. They were unable to resolve the problems so moved us to another room. The bin in the bathroom of our new room hadn't been emptied from the previous guests. The restaurant was pleasant enough although the menu was very limited. The food we did order was nice although you did have to order sides separately. The wifi was also very slow.

Review 60:The bathroom was lovely with large shower cubicle and good shower head and large fluffy towels.

Review 61:Breakfast could have been better (better selection of fruit and vegetarian products) and hotel should have provided bottled water as there was an issue with tap water in Preston at that time.

Review 62:On arrival there were no toiletries, not enough towels, only one dressing gown, window glass was not cleaned from previous occupancy as it appeared to have hand and breast prints on the window.

Review 63:Comfy bed, nice view, good shower room, coffee machine was a nice bonus.

Review 64:If only the experience had not been spoiled by a breakfast buffet that was barely warm & weak breakfast coffee in flask - surely the management can arrange a coffee machine!

Review 65:Very comfortable hotel but marking made difficult by bad experience referred to. Most convenient to the M6, evening meal well cooked and reception and staff overall very welcoming

Review 66:The hotel was affected by a water issue and the water could not be drunkat all so they should have provided bottled water for customers and notjust boiled water from the kitchen.

Review 67:The room was supposed to be a double but it was very small, single wardrobe, one chair, no drawers. Had to put suitcase on the floor, found it so difficult to hang our wedding clothes anywhere just no space at all. Rooms did not deserve to be classed as 4 star, room size very disappointing. Would have expected better accommodation for a 4 star hotel.

Review 68:The breakfast and location was good.

Review 69:Not being told about the non drinking of the water, only told on theevening after I had drank water in my room. A terrible oversight. Imentioned it and was told there was a notice!! I Did not notice it. Whatthat's my fault. The breakfast is poor, and if you decide to have iton the morning you are charged £15 terrible value

Review 70:The young girl who looked after us on the Thursday evening was superbGreat room Good evening meal

Review 71:The bed sheets were dirty & blood stained. The room was dusty and the sink looked like it hadn't been wiped out since the last guest. Had breakfast twice, the first day at 7.30 am, and the following day at 9.30am and both times the hot buffet items were cold.

Review 72:The overall appearance of the hotel was nice and appealing. Modern & contemporary feeling.

Review 73:Nothing bad. Wedding guests still noisy at 03.00, but this was not the fault of the hotel (it was Saturday night).

Review 74:Easy to find from the M6, smart modern hotel a cut above the Premier Inn class but still affordable. Very stylish room & bathroom fittings. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food.

Review 75:Towels in the room were not clean. Besides, you cannot drink water in this area without boiling it, nor use it even when brushing your teeth. The lift did not work properly, so we had to go up the stairs to the second floor with our heavy bags.

Review 76:The room itself is very clean.

Review 77:Asked for cot prior to arrival - no cut ready when arrived but staff very helpful and quick in getting cot for us except the room was very small for a cot. Would have expected larger room when booking for us + 7mth old.

Review 78:The walls are very thin and we could hear the people all around us which was quite disturbing.

Review 79:The room and communal areas are very pleasant and nicely decorated.

Review 80:Nothing, everything was as expected.

Review 81:Very nice hotel with a tasteful decor and attention to detail. I would recommend others to stay here, very comfortable!

Review 82:2 men in a twin room, not nearly enough t bags coffee milk etc, had to go to supermarket to stock up, this is tight, we had no refreshments for waking up, this is a down side.

Review 83:easy to get in and out for travel to my appointments, clean etc, bar good.

Review 84:Could not use the Wi-Fi properly (kept going to hotel's site?)

Review 85:The hotel’s location, the staff’s attention to detail, the staff’s friendliness and the general ambiance.

Review 86:Paper thin walls and was disturbed morning and night by tv's from other rooms. Had a club room but apart from a good coffee machine it was very basic. Carpet had loose chunks of mud on.

Review 87:Value for money is good. Reception/ bar area looks impressive. Friendly staff.

Review 88:Mixed up on checking out bill which I spotted & was sorted but caused a delay & I was late for a prearranged meeting

Review 89:Lovely stylish decor, friendly staff & excellent value for money as booked at a reduced rate with further booking.com members discount. Special prebook meal rate could also be carried over to a la carte menu as a credit which I opted to do

Review 90:At breakfast on the friday morning my daughters had an absolutley awful experience with the silver trays which the sausages were in. On opening the tray the lid fell back and the gas flames underneath burnt my daughters dress at waist height and her stomach was red and sore for the rest of the day at a wedding we were attending. Not only that daughter experienced this but my second daughter experienced exactly the same thing approx ten minutes later, resulting in the same damages. They were compensated for their clothing but this is not enough. The tablecloth was also set alight on both occasions and they both found this a traumatising experience and upset them for the rest of the day, resulting in them not being able to enjoy a specially long awaited family wedding. We spent a lot of money whilst staying with you at your hotel, in the bar and restaurant. I would like a full explantion as to why this happened and what you are going to do about it to ensure this does not happen again (something should have been put in place immediatley after the first incident, but was not) Had this happened to my grandson 9 years old who was with us it would have been his face the flames attacked. I enquired as to whether this had ever happened before and was told no, I am afraid I do not believe this, for it to happen twice in the space of ten minutes. I hope to hear from you as soon as possible. Mrs Ann Stewart.

Review 91:All pretty good although carpet in the room could have done with freshening up a bit.

Review 92:Very helpful, pleasant staff. Nice lounge bar - friendly service.

Review 93:I dont really feel its a 4 star hotel, walls very thin, doors bang loudly, building showing its age very quickly, guide on tv didnt work so spend time channel hoping in this day and age? Really? Wifi never worked? Location next to duel carriage way so traffic noise at peek times.

Review 94:Great shower, good staff

Review 95:Two different rates for the same buffet breakfast - £10 and £14. Moreover being told that this is because the chefs need to know how much to cook - it's a buffet breakfast conducted over several hours for goodness sake!!!! It's not a dinner party!!!!

Review 96:Great value hotel and convenient location

Review 97:The bed was very uncomfortable and is the only thing that would stop me coming back.

Review 98:The hotel decor was very nice and modern. The breakfast was very nice and plenty of choice.

Review 99:Nothing

Review 100:We were attending a wedding at a nearby location and stayed here the staff were extremely pleasent and very helpful, the rooms were very clean and spacious would Definatley recommend this hotel to people

Review 101:Not keen in the weird reception (giant desk) but just a personal opinion!

Review 102:Brilliant value for money, very smart, modern hotel.Would certainly stay again.

Review 103:Location is ok but it's on a main road, Also carpets could do with freshening up

Review 104:Very comfortable room, excellent value for the money we paid, staff very friendly and attentative,

Review 105:We had a great experience. The only thing that let the hotel down a bit was the décor. Everything seemed to be in gloomy shades of brown and grey. Could definitely do with a bit of colour.

Review 106:The staff were excellent. Very friendly but efficient. Nothing was too much trouble. We didn't have an evening meal there but the breakfast was fantastic. Amazing selection and great quality.

Review 107:Only had opportunity for breakfast in the hotel once. £15 was a little pricey for a help yourself buffet, and several complaints were made by others about cold tea. Breakfast was delicious however, and there was a wide variety.

Review 108:Stunning little place. Clean, neat and tidy with excellent facilities. Only saw the staff in the mornings going out and coming back late at night but they were friendly and courteous. We have already made plans for next year and will definitely be staying here again.

Review 109:Wasn't too happy that we were travelling for 5 hours to arrive at 9.45pm and be told the restaurant had closed with no options for food at all.

Review 110:Very clean and modern rooms with pleasant surroundings.

Review 111:Late book in of 3pm does not allow for changing time for functions such as weddings. We emailed ahead asking for earlier access around 12. We did get in room at 1.30 ish . Price of Drinks quite steep .

Review 112:Nice Decor, Good breakfast

Review 113:All good, slight delay in reastaurant which was dealt with superbly by Kylie the Restaurant Supervisor, top marks to her, also to Rebecca in the restaurant.

Review 114:Staff friendly, location ideal for us, rooms good, bed great. Large TV.

Review 115:Staff to busy on computers to notice customers. Service very poor.

Review 116:Comfortable room, nice outside patio bar. Although the menu was boring the food was very good.

Review 117:I had advised the hotel of my dietary requirements, but sadly this was not followed through. Had a problem with the door key - took 3 visits to reception to get it sorted. There were long queues to check out as only one member of staff on the desk. Had to wait over 5 mins for someone to man the bar too.

Review 118:Good breakfast

Review 119:We had 2 rooms, armchairs in both rooms were quite worn with frayed fabric. A shame a reduced the overall appearance of the room.

Review 120:Nice sized rooms. Excellent shower and bathroom. Room facilities on 3rd floor very good. Breakfast was excellent. A great choice of foods. Dinner in the restaurant was good. All staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 121:Nothing! Great stay!

Review 122:The hotel looks ok from the outside, but inside its beautiful. The reception area was unusually casual which was a nice change and the receptionist was really helpful. Our room was also beautiful with everything we could possibly need. We had dinner in the restaurant and again, great service in a lovely setting. There was a wedding going on in hotel and we didn't even hear it.

Review 123:Good friendly service, impressed with the room. Very near Samlesbury Hall for a wedding that I was attending. Met dietary needs for breakfast. Would recommend.

Review 124:The only down side was they haven't updated their freeview Tele, so didn't have my favourite channel. Itv be.

Review 125:Loved the way the hotel was decorated, loved our room. Best hotel I've been to till now and I've been to a lot in the past few years. Worth the price defo going again.

Review 126:The first thing you realise is the friendliness of the staff. One of the Managers in particular . . Kath , is worthy of particular praise. The way she combines friendliness and efficiency is remarkable.

Review 127:Cooked breakfast selection was cold and lack of teapots or decent sized cups meant you to continually cross dining room to obtain hot water for tea.

Review 128:Majority of staff (9especailly young Waiter in dining room in evening) were very friendly and helpful.

Review 129:Drinks were a little expensive

Review 130:This hotel was lovely. The shower I especially liked. Breakfast was self service and all nice and hot. Friendly staff and nice clean rooms.

Review 131:The room was very small ... We only stayed one night but if we had stayed longer I would have expected it to be more spacious. We used the sat nav to find the hotel but it couldn't find you easily although the staff advised the hotel has been there for a while.

Review 132:The style of the hotel ... The decor ... And the reception area. The staff were friendly.

Review 133:We had an unexpected delay in driving from London and arrived very tired. Reception initially couldn,t locate our booking but provided us with a complementary upgrade which was greatly appreciated.

Review 134:The bed mattress was past it's best and needed replacing.

Review 135:Friendly staff, clean room at back of hotel away from main road. Great shower. Free Wi-Fi very useful.
