Reviews for Hunters Lodge Motel
Review 1:The Hunters Lodge is an ageing motel/b and b. It could do with brightening up but the staff are friendly and helpful enough. They don't do evening meals and the breakfast is fairly basic, just cereal, tea or coffee, toast and marmalade or crumpets.
Review 2:I should put lots of bad things in here to scare everyone off so I always have a room! But I can't do that.
Review 3:It's a great place to stay, local to the motorway network and most things you need within a 5 minute drive. Friendly staff, great service, what more could you ask for. ;)
Review 4:Could not have been more helpful........would stay there again ... No vacancies for the next week we wanted to stay .... Music from club was not a issue !
Review 5:Room furniture could do with a refurb.. but didn't cost a lot for the stay with continental breakfast..
Review 6:Great for a one night stop over. Close to M6 motorway and good value for money. Staff really friendly.
Review 7:Value for money. Place was well used and a bit shabby but clean and comfortable. Perfect for a cheap stopover on a journey. Manager was a treasure and right on top of it all.
Review 8:The room was suitable for our night stay and the bed comfortable. As a continental breakfast there was a good selection. Staff were very welcoming and friendly and we would certainly make a return visit.
Review 9:The comfortable bed we had a good nights rest and woke up refreshed.good breakfast with extra toast and most of all our wee dog Buster was made very welcome.
Review 10:Very difficult to find, even using SAT NAV, because the street it is on has two different names.
Review 11:Very friendly owner who served during continental breakfast and gave good directions to other nearby towns.
Review 12:Nothing to dislike. It was as described. A basic, honest to goodness hotel that offered good value, budget accommodation.
Review 13:Exceptionally good value for money. Basic but spotlessly clean. Quiet and restful nights. Basic breakfast ( cereal, juice, toast and a hot drink). Friendly staff and made to feel welcome. Would certainly use Hunters' Lodge again.
Review 14:Really friendly and helpful. Ideal location for my stay. Will certainly stay again but for longer next time I Visit. Will recommend to others who want to stay in the area
Review 15:I liked it. it was comfortable and had all that I needed. It would make a nice base to visit the area from/work from. I was pleasantly surprised by it but I only stayed over 1 night.
Review 16:Biggish free car park; friendly staff; nice large, clean & comfortable room.
Review 17:The shower room was a bit dated.
Review 18:Friendly staff, and good clean value for money. Didn't realise it was a dog friendly hotel. Will stay there again.
Review 19:The pillows were in need of replacing. I do not mind a firm pillow but these had been cleaned so many times they were like bricks. The building is in serious need of a lick of paint and sprucing up, it did not live up to my expectations of its long standing name.
Review 20:Staff are helpful.
Review 21:Easy booking and a brilliant price. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Large room, quiet, and comfy. Has everything you need. Superb breakfast.
Review 22:General appearance was untidy and dated. Car park and drive overgrown and looked uncared for. Could do with a full makeover, especially the rooms.
Review 23:Comfort & cleanliness of the bed. The very extensive continental breakfast."
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:Staff rude on arrival she moaning about the work. Dirty dated breakfast was toast help your self because the lady said she mite not be there never use hunters lodge again sorry but it only as to be clean that's not hard. Well she thought it was
Review 26:Bathroom needs an update, hallways need an update, wifi was hit and miss.
Review 27:Nicely decorated room, friendly owner, had gluten free cereal and rolls available
Review 28:Bathroom dated & shower was a little small & not much 'power'. However, everything worked & plenty of hot water available instantly. Nice to have real soap, but shampoo turned hair to straw, not recommended!
Review 29:Owners were very friendly & welcoming. Room was clean & presentable. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 30:Nothing of note.
Review 31:The lady owner was very friendly and helpful. Spacious room, very comfortable bed and ample parking. Dated fixtures and fittings (including orange bathroom suite), but I liked this.
Review 32:Tired decor. Smell of smoke throughout. Run down hotel Pictures of bar on website, but never opened once in a week.
Review 33:Best bed I've slept in for ages. Friendly staff. Adequate breakfast
Review 34:It's a bit old not up todate as other places. But what do you want for the price. Very welcoming staff.
Review 35:Very friendly staff, only there over night as going to Scotland early next morning so not much to see. Very well priced. Would defiantly go there again.
Review 36:Owners/staff lovely, friendly and helpful. Brilliant location. Beds so comfortable, great. Linen and towels beautifully clean. Everything you need, shampoo, shower gel, soap, tea, coffee, milk etc. hairdryer, tv and free wi fi. Yes hotel could do with a spruce up but hey, I am not complaining and would stay again and again. Brilliant, thank you.
Review 37:its a tired old building and needs make over, inside & out, but is a suitable stop over. Just don't expect state of art, peach and advocado bathroom suites every where lol
Review 38:friendly owner - very accommodating, ensured we could help ourselves to breakfast even though early start. dogs were welcome, linen spotless. Beds were comfy, water hot and area quiet
Review 39:Very Clean room, comfy bed, sensible easy breakfast with a personal touch. Our mother is 88 and the hotel went out of their way to make her visit extremely comfortable and WARM. We thank you for this because old timers feel the cold, even in summer time…..
Review 40:The appearance. As you drive up to the hotel it looks like and needs a complete tidy up. Hotel looks untidy.
Review 41:The owners where friendly and helpful Breakfast adequate. No cooked food only cereals toast fruit.
Review 42:Finding the place when travelling north was not easy - we had no Satnav so were travelling by 'google' directions which took us a round-about way. Getting back on to the motorway was easy, with directions from staff.
Review 43:Comfortable room, friendly helpful staff. The decor is 70's with some interesting features. Despite a disco going on in the motel, it was quiet in our room.
Review 44:After reading other reviews we were disapponted as we think the motel needs renovating and deep cleaning. The outside also needs tidying. The grass was 2 feet tall.
Review 45:Breakfast was basic - Cereal and Toast but was acceptable given price. There was a smoking smell around the rooms. Hotel bar closed by 10.30pm
Review 46:There was a pub a within walking distance. Pleanty car parking, Clean room.
Review 47:Room was on the side of car park, it was a hot day we had to open the windows and couldn't sleep bcs of cars and other guests. Room was not well maintained poor shower and a leaking toilet. Dirt and smear mark on the walls.
Review 48:Breakfast Staff
Review 49:On arrival the smeel was awful, the room very smelly and dirty. Could not open the windows, shower curtian dirty and smelly. Breakfast area dirty and poor choice.
Review 50:Nothing to like the place is very shabby. yes cheap but stunk.
Review 51:Being disabled the bed was to soft but I imagine it would be great for people who did not have problems.
Review 52:Continental breakfast, don't like fry up smells in dining room.
Review 53:Barely anything to complain about! The wifi was a little weak in our room but we were the furthest away, and could still connect.
Review 54:The motel was a wonderful place to stay after a long day of driving. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the room's facilities were excellent. The staff were really lovely, and the breakfast the next morning was really great with lots of choices. Very very happy with our stay, will definitely come back if we're ever travelling up that way again!
Review 55:Our room didn't look anything like the ones in the pictures. Although it was clean, the place. needs a facelift , it looks tired.blck mould around bathroom fittings. Untidy entrance with weeds at the front. Peeling paintwork
Review 56:Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed Free wifi Continental breakfast included and served with a smile
Review 57:Fire alarms taped up Corridors full of clutter Dark corridors and rooms Dirty looking bathrooms Chipped furniture Needs a lot of work - would never recommend
Review 58:nothing
Review 59:Good location. Friendly helpful host. Extremely comfortable bed and good choices for breakfast including special dietary requirements. Would recommend and will stay again.
Review 60:Friendly couple running motel. Ok for travellers needing a stop for the night. Room was adequate for purpose and had all that was needed. Great value.
Review 61:Couldn't get onto wifi but wasn't a big issue used the wifi in the carvery pub along the road
Review 62:No nonsense accommodation in good location for travelling M6
Review 63:For this price don't expect the Ritz but its clean, friendly & good value. Exactly what i was after.
Review 64:Clean great value for money, pleasant owners/staff. Beds were comfortable in the 2 rooms i used. Would stay again even though it was further than other budget accommodation from where i needed to be.
Review 65:Nothing I disliked. This was second visit so you know what to expect. Would rather spend less on accommodation then more to spend on meals etc.
Review 66:Location. Cheapness. If you want a more up to date B & B then this isn't for you but it had everything we needed, big room, reasonable bathroom, WiFi that worked. Drinks facilities in room, TV. Breakfast of tea/toast/cereal. All for £35 for 2!!
Review 67:Lights fused (not owners fault,) but they were off for several hours - needed someone to come in and fix them as no trip switch!
Review 68:Comfy bed & nice continental breakfast
Review 69:We had cleaners trolley right outside our room. Rooms need up dating and the breakfast area looked dirty we didn't eat there. whole place needs a right good clean.
Review 70:I only paid £30 for bed and breakfast which was very cheap and so I didn't expect much. This place is in desperate need of modernisation but it will never happen if their charges are so low. It's a catch 22, it is outdated and shabby but they can't make it work as a business to make updating a financial option.
Review 71:The only member of staff I saw (a lady) was very helpful and friendly. She looked after me particularly well at breakfast (which was a good continental breakfast) which I had on my own in the dining room.
Review 72:The wifi code was put on the mirror but I couldn't connect to it as my computer said the code was wrong. Possibly I could have sorted that out if I had arrived at an earlier time but as it was late I wasn't able to sort it out.
Review 73:Room was comfortable, spacious and warm, bed was comfortable. Dog was allowed to stay in room with me and made welcome.
Review 74:So very outdated decor. Yellow bathroom suite! Mould around windows and on floor near radiatior. Only plug in electric radiators, heating never on. Dirty shower curtain. Boxes of stuff in corridors. Loud music out back form a band or something mid week until late. Thin walls. Tiles missing. WiFi in & out. Oldest Tvs ever, and smallest. "Resident guests". You get what you pay for really..
Review 75:Owners were nice and friendly.
Review 76:Smell of cigarettes in room and corridors Shower a bit slow and temperamental hot = cold
Review 77:Dogs slept in car at night room overlooked car park Beds comfy and spotless bedding.plenty of tea and coffee in room Carvery nearby Nice continental breakfast
Review 78:Dirty, mouldy walls, wallpaper hanging off, cobwebs and dust everywhere, burnt out plug socket.. absolutely shocking and not fit to be on sale - deeply unpleasant experience, not to mention lacking the basic safety standards.
Review 79:Free wifi
Review 80:No radiators on day of our stay but wewere given electric radiator which we appreciated as outside it was freezing.
Review 81:Room comfortable and staff very pleasant. This was our third visit. breakfast was very adequate and laid out well. Thank you
Review 82:Bathroom could have done with an update
Review 83:Comfortable bed. Central heating did not work but the staff had placed a heater in the room prior to my stay. Toasty
Review 84:Fire alarm went off late night but not hotels fault, was the bar next door with smoke machine for special event.
Review 85:Room was comfy and clean. Lady owner was lovely and friendly. Good value.
Review 86:Nothing to dislike; some of the bathroom fittings had seen better days but the shower was hot and the room clean.
Review 87:Easy location from the motorway. For a one-night stop is was excellent value for money, the room was comfortable and the continental breakfast more than adequate. We will stay here again.
Review 88:smell of cigarettes in bedroom, although I didnt ask to change rooms mildly chaotic but so what
Review 89:value for money Friendly family management Quirky friendly bar
Review 90:Needs updating. Bathroom needs overall, but is usable.
Review 91:The room was very comfortable and warm. Continental breakfast was fine. If you want a cheap overnight stay I recommend this. A good pub down the road does good food, cheap.
Review 92:no heating on just electric heaters bar and restaurant were not open when we arrived at 9pm had to go to pub down the road which was closing as well 9-30
Review 93:This is a dated motel but this doesn't stop it from being warm and charming. It certainly isn't a posh modern hotel, but if you are not expecting that then you will likely be very satisfied with the overall pleasantness of the stay and the friendly staff.
Review 94:The staff were lovely and helpful. The room was very warm which was great given the wintery weather. The shower had plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable and was the thickess duvet I ever saw. The facilities were what we needed with tea and coffee in the room, a desk and a nice breakfast lounge.
Review 95:For an overnight stay it was excellent value. The motel was clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly. Free continental breakfast was a bonus. Would stay at the hotel again.
Review 96:Managers wife served breakfast in outdoor coat on Central heating not on,had small halogen heater and family. Heater in restaurant which doubled as reception and hallway quite smelly on entering if I had another option I'd have moved on but had just driven almost 500 miles ( having said that it only cost £38' Managers used a room for everything by what I could see through Windows I could see her smoking in room there it looked as I've they cooked and lived out of hotel room quite a Whig when passing and on entering hotel I booked after seeing good review but after living in room I dread to think who left the reviews. I would not recommend this to my enemy's I'm no snob just basic working class but there untidy and there's grubb
Review 97:Very friendly. Rooms spotless, comfortable and spacious. Beds extremely comfortable. Room quiet. Substantial breakfast. Short walk to Crown Carvery when their own restaurant is closed
Review 98:Damp in bedroom and draft at one corner, couldn't work out why Peeling paint Mouldy and rotten window Dated and damaged furniture Old and mouldy bathroom Untidy corridors with rubbish on floor Fire alarm went off at 3am and no one in charge, no evacuation, no idea where fire point was. After 5mins of waiting outside, clearly no fire, went back in and back to bed. No staff member commented on it the next morning. Utter shambles! We shall not be returning!
Review 99:Comfy bed
Review 100:Hallway cleanliness and a lot of items liying here and there, otherwise it was good, Mobile signals for Three too weak :)
Review 101:it was good, very nice guy and lady at reception, very helpful and caring.
Review 102:The shower room was a bit tired and dated but it all worked.
Review 103:The bed was so comfortable and slept like a log, the room had everything you needed.Very friendly owner.
Review 104:The motel is very dated. It was like going back 30+ years. The corridors smelt of smoke and fusty. Surprised dogs and smoking was allowed. Can't understand why we had to sleep on 2 mattresses and a foam topper. Bed very high.
Review 105:NO c/h just oil filled radiator NO cooked breakfast No restaurant No water pressure for shower Had a bar with overpowering smell of damp
Review 106:free wifi coffee and tea in room clean beds
Review 107:nothing really. For what you pay it is excellent value for money.
Review 108:lovely friendly people, made us very welcome.marie and David were lovely. Bed very comfortable, room warm and snug, breakfast plentiful, and great coffee.good location to explore the area. We will use hunters lodge again, thank you both.
Review 109:The shower was a bit limp, but for the money you can'tcomplain really.
Review 110:The mattresses are extremely comfy and overall this is place isexcellent value.
Review 111:Just a few pointers: They should've told us when booking that the club attached were having an event on our first night as the music went on until past 4:30am- it kept me awake until I was exhausted. Our room had a carpet clean whilst we were staying there which subsequently meant that the floor was soaking wet. We weren't forewarned about it either and had to keep put all our belongings off the floor and I couldn't take my shoes off! There was some waste coming out of some pipes in the carpark which looked like tissue and faeces.
Review 112:The staff were very friendly and kind. The bed was comfortable and I had a good nights sleep on the second night. Having wifi was great!
Review 113:I couldn't take the lovely paisley Sanderson duvet cover and toning wallpaper and curtains home with me! They would have looked great in our bedroom.
Review 114:Scrupulously clean motel. Very comfortable bed. Quiet so I slept well even though it was a Saturday night Good, healthy breakfast. Kind, helpful proprietors.
Review 115:Could do with a little update of decor especially in breakfast room.
Review 116:Relaxed atmosphere. Helpful friendly staff without being over bearing. Easy to find. Great price.
Review 117:Above expectations! The room was clean, bright and comfortable. The bathroom may be dated, but it was spotless. As long as the room is clean and comfortable, then I feel the aesthetics are unimportant. The sheets on the bed were bright white, and the mattress was very comfortable. There was a towel bale each, and toiletries. The towels were also brilliant white. For the price we paid, I was extremely pleased with everything the hotel had to offer. A good night sleep, followed by a nice continental breakfast. Couldn't ask for better.
Review 118:I suppose for the money paid it should've been expected. But not a pleasant or welcoming environment. Not very clean with over powering bad smell, most likely damp. In desperate need of a thorough make over to bring it up to an acceptable standard.
Review 119:Location good for Preston. Good for parking.
Review 120:Noisy fan in the bathroom.
Review 121:Chap on reception said breakfast from 08:30, then when told I neededto leave earlier, insisted I must not skip breakfast and showed mewhere everything was so that I could serve myself. 70S decor and soft, comfy bed.
Review 122:We were later arriving than anticipated but were welcomed warmly and shown to our room. The bed was tremendously comfortable. In the morning we again received a warm greeting. The Value: exceptional
Review 123:Cracked whb, peeling floor vinyl and mouldy ceiling in shower. Large open bin next to breakfast area. A bit run-down, inside and out.
Review 124:Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable bed. Inexpensive. Breakfast included. Free parking.
Review 125:Badly cracked wash basin. Mould growing in and around the shower. Very low water pressure in shower. TV didn't work. I was doubtful about the number of plugs in a single 13 amp socket in the main room. Breakfast was very basic (toast/cerial/coffee) - it would have been nice to have a Continental or English breakfast on offer. Incessant noise very late from nearby disco making it necessary to close all windows (which didn't keep out all the throbbing beats). Clearly this motel needs money spent on it to seriously upgrade.
Review 126:Friendliness of staff, clean linen & wifi facilities and car park.
Review 127:thinish walls. couple in next room talked all night. my wife can hear a pin drop. I slept like a log.
Review 128:helpful owner - hassle free stay. free continental breakfast excellent value for money
Review 129:When going into reception area, dinning area smelt of smoke. Also slightly in the bedroom. Continental breakfast, without croissants?
Review 130:Bed was comfortable.
