Reviews for Fairmount Hotel
Review 1:Room size was very small. The walls were very 'thin' and you could hear the TV in the next room. The power point was in the wrong position. The carpet was old and raggedy.
Review 2:Location.
Review 3:the hotel is quite worn and tired. our room was right next to reception which meant we could hear every guest arrive and depart.
Review 4:good location, very good price ( I would of been disappointed if it was prices like a normal hotel) the receptionist was helpful
Review 5:Hotel room ultra basic and very very small. No insulation from noise but guests were well behaved !!
Review 6:Great location and helpful staff. Good deal with Mariot hotel for a swim/spa.
Review 7:The room was very small. There was not enough plug sockets and the bathroom door was on the wrong way round, so you could not lock the door from the inside.
Review 8:The hotel was in a convenient location for what me and my group of friends wanted to do.
Review 9:The 'double bed' was two single mattresses put together on a double bed frame. The shower didn't work for the first night spoke to a member of staff about it we then had to run the shower for an hour before we had any hot water. The hotel was not prepared to give us any money back or help in anyway. Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone!! Neither will we be coming back!!
Review 10:Good location close to bournmouth town. Reasonable leaving times on he last day. Availability for parking and you don't have to move ur car as soon and you hand over the room
Review 11:A little basic ,however,I got value for £
Review 12:Was doubtful that had been wise to book cheapest close to BIC! Not sure what I was expecting, however,I got what I didn't pay too much for. It was clean, had tele.tea & coffee in room.Staff pleasant and private parking within close view.
Review 13:No hand towel, nowhere to hang a towel, shower very old, no toilet paper in one of our rooms. Traffic was noisy in room 6 and room 5 had only a window at ceiling level so was dark and dismal.
Review 14:Location was the only good point to this stay as close to the BIC and plenty of bars.
Review 15:Its mainly used by contractors and workmen, who were less than quiet when using the bar. No hand towels in the room, they don't supply them, no chairs in the room to sit, TV at 90 degree angle to the bed. The double bed was 2 single beds pushed togther, one bed was firm and the other was old, worn and the springs were very noisy everytime you turned over. The room was actually half a room, the wall cuts straight through the ceiling rose and its a paper thin barrier between your room and whoever is in the other half of the room!! If they kept it as one room there may have been space for a chair or for the TV to be in the correct place. We booked a double room and actually had 4 single beds in the room, leaving hardly any space at all. Our fault but didn't see the small print about paying £5 a day for parking. Would not stay again.
Review 16:The location for the BIC and the walk into town is excellent. The bathroom was nice and good shower.
Review 17:Shower pressure not what you would expect. Also the water was lukewarm at best when i had a shower.
Review 18:Friendly staff and comfortable beds. Room was small but I only needed a bed for a night so it was fine for me.
Review 19:I stayed for 3 nights, solo traveller, on business, so I have to be up at 0600. Monday and Tuesday night - fine. Wednesday night - nightmare! So noisy! Don't know quite what the two girls were doing in the room next door - pretty X rated! Not good at all
Review 20:Nothing to mention!
Review 21:Stayed twice here for two business jobs. Hotel is great location, helpful staff going over and beyond and certainly value for money.
Review 22:It's an ok basic accommodation. I think it's good if you included parking charges in your room rate. It's the only thing that I did not like as I had to pay from my usable cash
Review 23:Convenient to my work place and to all amenities
Review 24:We were 6 friends on a night out and all we needed was a bed to sleep in so it was perfect! No frills, but for that particular night we didn't need any.
Review 25:It was a bit hard to find. We stayed around bonfire night so there were guests that had been out to parties and were drunk and a bit loud (not really the hotels fault).
Review 26:The staff were very nice and helpful, moving us to the ground floor after my girlfriend had twisted her ankle and giving her ice and offering to find a number for a doctor. The room was very nice, decor was modern and it was comfortable. Good Wifi..
Review 27:Couldnt say I didn't like anything just the bathroom was a little small for 7 of us. But we managed
Review 28:That we had a room of 7 and a room of 3 and we had them next to each other. The staff seemed very nice. Would definitely stay again..
Review 29:The room was very basic the beds were very uncomfortable the bathroom was clean but the toilet was not well fitted. There was a car park charge of £5 per day even for disabled we did not stay in the end because of the beds being so uncomfortable and I would not go back there again. No Refund Not Even for the Parking
Review 30:The area was central to being close to beach
Review 31:Shower was a bit iffy, but for the price it was a great stay!!
Review 32:Great, hospitable staff. The Lithuanian guy behind the bar was very helpful in particular.
Review 33:The communal carpets are dated and could do with being renewed, but that didn't affect the stay. Would also prefer a plug near the mirror, but again didn't affect stay!
Review 34:Rooms were very clean and tidy, with coffee and tea facilities. Brilliant location, very close to the centre.
Review 35:Big room, great price, great location (only a 5 minute walk to the beach front). Quiet at night even though there are surrounding hotels. Plenty of great restaurants in the area and the staff are very polite.
Review 36:Nothing :)
Review 37:I stayed here with a group of friends in a 7 bed room as we headed to Bournemouth for a night out. The location was great, the room was a good size, beds were comfy and all facilities were clean. All in all, perfect for what we wanted it for!
Review 38:A late booking and with a room advertised with 61% discount, I snapped it up. Reviews appeared to be generally positive. Upon arrival signs advertising rooms from £15:00 per night did not inspire confidence. The foyer was very tatty and in need of complete refurb. We were given our key and informed that the room key also operated the main entrance door to the hotel as this was closed at 9:00pm. It then dawned on me that the key, was a standard Yale key - did that mean our key was the same as in the locks in the other rooms? We went up stairs to our room, the condition of decor was very poor, with ceiling paper on our floor bulging where there had been water leaks. The room itself, was pretty basic and everything was excessively worn. I looked out of the bathroom window and on the ground below lie several heavily stained mattress. The room appeared clean, but was generally tatty, to be honest we couldn't wait to vacate the premises and was thankful we had only booked one night. The following day we stayed at a Premier Inn and though cost a little more, it was in a completely different league, and we actually felt like we were in a hotel.
Review 39:The location was fine, not far from main shopping/restaurants or beach.
Review 40:A bit creaky on the floorboards and ceiling needs redoing on 3rd floor. But the most important parts are clean and new.
Review 41:Comfy, clean, new, beds. Brand new bathroom which was very clean and stylish. T.v and kettle in each room. Price point was excellent a very fair price for what we got.
Review 42:Having to pay for parking. No DVD player! Small room for a double. Hard bed.
Review 43:The location of hotel with regard to major access roads. Being on first floor (would have preferred ground with view to smoking policy. The bathroom. Quiet.
Review 44:Some maintenance required in places such as peeling paint. Worth noting there is a parking charge of £5 per day- but this is a reasonable price compared to other car parking options in the area.
Review 45:Excellent location- 2 mins from sea front. good basic facilities. Very clean and friendly. Very good value for money. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 46:Room was very small, and it said free parking on the website when i booked, but when we got there we were charged £5 for it.
Review 47:Nice, clean bathroom, plenty of coffee and tea, easy check-out.
Review 48:This is not a hotel to stay in if you like any sleep after a good night out. There was lots of fighting, People smoking in their rooms so smoke alarms were constantly going off through the night. Which were loud percing alarms inside all the rooms (obv. Good if there is a fire) . Beds were comfortable but ive seen bigger fish fingers. You get what you pay for and this is certainly a adult hotel for clubbers that don't plan on actually sleeping in the room.
Review 49:The day staff were very polite and helpful. Room clean and bathroom nice. Very close to shops pubs.
Review 50:old carpets , no lift , traffic noise and lack of luxury!
Review 51:everything was good really for the price its brilliant- near the town and beach , good staff and comfortable bed and new showers. it just needs new carpet and curtains really and perhaps luxury duvet covers
Review 52:It is cheap, so I could not expect good quality. You can sleep and take a bath here, but it is not luxury. The description is ambiguos: the breakfast is not included in the reservation! 5£ per person.
Review 53:The accomodation is really cheap and the localization was perfect: near the beach, the gardens and the center.
Review 54:double bed was two singles held together by a sheet.room was partitioned by stud wall so no privacy.More like a hostel than a hotel.Good for stags and hens sharing a room that just need a sleep but please don't smoke in your room as I got really pissed off being woken up at 4am by alarm :-(
Review 55:good location
Review 56:The traffic noise was really bad as on a busy road. Even with the window shut you could hear the traffic all through the night as no double glazing. The stairs and landing floorboards were very creaky and the other guests were very loud coming in so hardly any sleep. You could hear the people in other rooms talking as the walls were really thin. The fire alarm went off at 4.30am on our last day there and we didn't know what was going on as nobody came to let us know if it was a false alarm or not.
Review 57:Close to the BIC which was our reason for choosing this hotel. The bed was very comfortable with clean bedding plus clean towels and tea making facilities.
Review 58:The place is of very poor standard. Rooms nothing like pics. Damp in celings bubbling. Have took pic's. Curtains hanging off rails full of noisy party goers
Review 59:It was good location
Review 60:Carpets badly stained, paintwork worn, had to run taps for a long time to get hot water. Noise from inconsiderate guests slamming doors.
Review 61:Comfy bed, helpful staff, reasonable price for good location, £5 to use leisure facilities at hotel nearby, good standard of towels and bed linen. Good wi-fi .
Review 62:Carpet needs updating, some peeling on the ceiling. But still very good cheep hotel.
Review 63:Comfy Bed, clean room with new bathroom. Lovely budget hotel, will stay here again.
Review 64:we stayed for three nights. we were always on a rush so no time to make the bed . so when we arrived at night after a long day., everything stayed the same except bins were removed. no wardrobes provided for our clothes. not enough space inside the room. noises were evident when you wake up in the morning with the passing of vehicles . curtains need a change because it was really dusty. if you dont mind the exercise, then this hotel is for you coz its situated uphill. bed are too soft also.
Review 65:it was near city centre and the beach. staff were nice. clean towels were provided everyday. as well as milk, tea etc. less than average hotel if youre purpose is just to sleep.showers were functioning in our room which was good.
Review 66:The quality of the hotel is not 3 star more like a 1star Quality of the beds were extremely poor Did not sleep at all due to the mattresses and not just noise from persons but noise from floorboards creaking went on til 4am
Review 67:Walking distance to the pier
Review 68:Having booked the wrong days via Booking.com, I rang the hotel immediately and they changed the booking to the right days. Nightmare avoided. Top marks just for that. Otherwise, the hotel was excellent value for money and we appreciated that there was car parking available
Review 69:On a very busy road, so noisy if you like to have a window open. Shower pressure poor, but I was on 2nd floor. Could have done with an adaptor on only accessible socket to enable kettle to be boiled while TV is on.
Review 70:Convenient location, comfortable bed (had a double though I'd only booked a single). Good bed linen and gererous towels.
Review 71:No staff there in the morning when we wanted to pay for breakfast, which was not on sight but further up the road in a pub.
Review 72:Location Brilliant!! Basic hotel but clean
Review 73:We paid £150 for a one night stay as there were no double rooms left we were put in a triple room we expected a family room with a double and one single although there were only two of us the room was very tiny and pokey We were disgusted that we had to pay £ 50 a bed . Awful price not good value and the .breakfast was not even included
Review 74:Room overcrowded with beds & no good clothes storage. Corridors & stairs tatty with dirty carpeting. V. expensive esp. as room only, no breakfast.
Review 75:Staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel quite quiet & peaceful. Room & bathroom clean.
Review 76:No problems at all.
Review 77:Convenient location. On site parking. Very helpful operator/manager. Breakfast at discounted rate at pub within 100 yards of the property.
Review 78:Not mentioned room was at basement next to the laundry room. Noise from washing machine was unbearable. Didn't stop till 6 pm. Didn't enjoy my stay.
Review 79:Unfortunately there were a few issues the first one was that the double bed we had requested turned out to be 2 separate ones put together they also left another single in there too, we stayed on the top floor so there was no WiFi signal and the pressure for the shower was so bad it took 20 minutes to warm up and it all but trickled out making it hard to wash properly. The overall theme of the room was okay but there was old and new carpet combined and it looked pretty bad to the eye the final thing was the sound from the room next door, the walls were very thing and we could hear everything going on wasn't the most ideal thing when you want peace and quiet. Finally as you walk in the property on the right hand side there is majorly outdated crisps and alcohol in the viewing panel this could be replaced I think to give a better impression.
Review 80:We found the over all look of the room to be quite pleasant fairly clean and not cluttered the bathroom suite looked great too very modern and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The bed was comfortable and had been made to a good standard, the room wasn't particularly dusty so it showed that the rooms had been cleaned prior to being occupied.
Review 81:The staff were very friendly and accomodating. They allowed us to store our bicycles in a small room in the hotel. They were also very helpful in helping us find somewhere to buy breakfast the next day, explaining that their vegetarian options wouldn't be good value for money.
Review 82:We booked 2 rooms for 8 adults (2 families) for 2 nights similar rooms. When we got the room 1 was smaller than the other and the price was same. When we asked the reception about this, they said they can't do anything on this. We said we are not happy about this and we will do a negative review. Then the reception in-charge said they don't mind that, and they have no objection for any negative review. He said they have no problem even if the customers are unhappy. The rooms were also not clean, dirty carpets and dirty curtains. As Booking.com a standard professional website such type of hotels must be removed from your listing. Will never stay again and will never refer to any one.
Review 83:We liked just the parking only
Review 84:The hotel was awful! Not worth a penny absolutely disgusted! Not sureits actually healthy to stay! Avoid!! A serious refurb needed and coulddo with a check from enviromental health!! Complained and asked for callfrom manager, I was told I would get a call within the hour and nothing!
Review 85:The staff were friendly and location was perfect!
Review 86:Excellent value, walking distance to beach....great parking.... Excellent customer service... Lovely big room for a large family... Powerful shower... Definitely come back :)
Review 87:Room rather cramped with double and single bed. Would be better with only a double. Needed to have own hangers as very few provided.
Review 88:Friendly helpful staff. Easy parking. Breakfast at pub - delicious.
Review 89:The other guests were so polite and friendly and they made very little noise, the stairway and passages were big and well-maintained, there were very useful and helpful Reception stewards.
Review 90:Room needs updating, not 100% sure about the cleanliness of it (unlike the bathroom which was new and very clean).
Review 91:Nice and clean bathroom, excellent location, walking distance from the beach, free parking
Review 92:The badly creaking floor.
Review 93:Fit a family of five comfortably in one room. Own bathroom with bath. Ground floor apartment. Was value for money, we were looking for cheaper accommodation, this was great no-frills sleeping accommodation.
Review 94:Big hill to walk back up from town centre but that's not really the hotels fault....not much else I could criticise.
Review 95:Exactly what we needed and were expecting. Parking was great, easy to find and in a great location.
Review 96:I stayed on the top floor, there was heavy rain and buckets all over the top floor to catch the water leaking in through the ceiling. The hotel rooms were not clean, although the bathroom was not bad, there was no soap or anything to wash yourself with. The beds were very uncomfortable, the staff were sort of friendly but were reluctant to give us any soap or shampoo for the morning to use.
Review 97:The location was excellent, right next to the beach and close to the shops.
Review 98:Stag party above us made so much noise through the night an our room was right next to reception so quite a lot of noise from the road and people coming in and out. Carpets need replacing.
Review 99:Great location and very reasonably priced. Clean room although very basic.
Review 100:Very filthy carpet, smelly and damp room. So much dust from the carpet and in the air.
Review 101:Absolutely nothing, it was most awful. I'd never go back there again
Review 102:Hotel needs a lot of work. Rooms are very small and in need of complete modernisation. Attention to detail and routine cleanliness would not go a miss.
Review 103:Hotel is close to BIC and the beach is the only good thing about this hotel.
Review 104:very dirty carpet - stairs up to the room and in the room. The shower base dirty and cracked, The toilet seat not attached. No curtain in the bathroom - looked onto the main street. Main curtain not attached to runner properly and had to be closed using a clothes hanger. Bathroom lock broken. Main bedroom door lock broken unable to double lock. Clothes rail hangs over bed - so if its been raining the clothes drip onto the bed. Breakfast is not at the hotel it is located 9 doors away at a pub
Review 105:did not like that you had to wait until 3pm to get into the room and did not like that you have to over the road for Breakfast and they did not tell us the time they open for Breakfast so i came home at 8am with no breakfast
Review 106:I like that the room was very clean and cosy and you can go in and out as many time in the day
Review 107:Not clean enough
Review 108:Hotel is not going to win any awards but you get what you pay for. Towels and beds were clean. Would be nice if the rooms were dusted occasionally
Review 109:Beds were unbelievably narrow. The room smelled, the television didn't work and the room felt really damp and consequently so did the sheets. The worst hotel experience I have had in a long time though the minimal facilities were attended to by polite and helpful staff. This hotel needs a serious makeover and for £95 per night was not good value.
Review 110:Location was very central, parking was available and free Wifi.
Review 111:The room was tiny and cramped for 4 of us in a family room. The beds were so small my daughter fell out of hers whilst asleep. There were kids cycling in the car park and being noisy which caused disturbance.
Review 112:The hotel was clean and had a great bathroom. The leisure pass at the Marriot made it definitely worth staying here.
Review 113:We stayed in the family room (6 single beds, 2 fastened together to make a double) which didn't have a wardrobe to put clothes away, making it feel like a hostel. There was a vey dusty lightshade & dusty skirting behind the beds. No dining room so if you wanted breakfast you had to buy a voucher for a hotel a couple hundred yards away.
Review 114:Its location was great for the beach & pier (hill was a little steep for pushchairs etc if you walk).
Review 115:Can't get through the car park in the hotel ..
Review 116:It's close to the beach ...we parked the car by the hotel so we didn't pay twice for our cars. ..
Review 117:Families be aware!!!! We booked a quadruple room with 4 beds. When we got there we were given a single room with 4 beds. It was awful and no space was left for us to move. I had my feet on my mother-in-law. Very mean. The carpet was so dirty ,it is like they found it in the street and the toilet seat was broken. Noise from the room above and next to us with doors slamming all times. I would not recommend this hotel to families.
Review 118:Not much apart from the location
Review 119:Beds were very small, floor was making noise when you walk, carpet was old and dirty
Review 120:People on reception were excellent, bathroom was good, good size of room
Review 121:Three narrow singles in our room, but to be fair, they had to be to fit in. Mine was very comfy, but the other two could feel every spring. That's an easy fix though and I am sure it's on the cards. Again, for the price you can't complain and we were very happy overall.
Review 122:Staff were wonderfully friendly and very accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very flexible to meet our needs. Many have spoken in reviews about the tiredness of the building and fixtures and yes, it could do with an upgrade, in places, but come on...it's an old building and takes time and money! They were painting the stairs when we arrived, and it was obvious that they do their very best to keep it very clean and tidy. Our room was very compact, but had everything we needed and was very modern and clean. For the price we paid, it was really great. We will be back :)
Review 123:No storage space at all in the room, not even a single draw. I feel that to keep in line with competition they're should be a hairdryer and wardrobe in every room. Without storage it meant I couldn't unpack!
Review 124:The location was ideal for the center. The temperature of the room was good and the staff were friendly and made you feel welcome.
Review 125:We were supposed to have a bedroom for four however we were given a bedroom for two with extra beds. And the double bed were two single beds put together.
Review 126:We didn't like it. It was more like a hostel and we had children and it wasn't that nice. When we opened the windows there was rubbish.
Review 127:We had wifi and the bed comfort was okay.
Review 128:The guy on the reception was friendly and helpful, explained where we could park for longer. The room was great for our needs and there was a couple of extra beds, would come again
Review 129:The shower was barely usable... No water pressure. Mouldy windows and crumbling walls and ceiling. It was not a very pleasant stay
Review 130:The location near the sea front
Review 131:Beds were not comfortable A lot of noise from the road Room was tired, new carpets would make a difference
Review 132:The staff were very friendly, our room was salacious for the 5 of us and clean Shower power was good Good value for anyone traveling with a family
Review 133:The noise at night was terrible as I was located on the ground floir next to Reception. I am a light sleeper therefore the noise from passing cars kept me awake including the noise from the adjacent rooms with noisy guests. I will never stay on the ground floor again. Overall it was a good experience but the location of my room was bad.
Review 134:Very close to the beach.
Review 135:We would have liked some space for cases etc. It was cramped for moving about because our baggage was at our feet.
Review 136:Friendly, helpful staff and good parking facilities.
