Reviews for Days Inn Charnock Richard M6
Review 1:Stayed here three years ago and while recognising the functional nature of the accom we found it a bit tired this time. We would have stayed two nights but we found a luxurious premier inn for only £5 more for a Sat night which was fantastic!
Review 2:Good location for the services and facilities
Review 3:Not well signposted from Southbound services, only managed to find the hotel as we'd stayed there before going Northbound.
Review 4:Rooms spacious, comfortable hotel to overnight in. Restaurant menu had a good selection too.
Review 5:We were travelling South and to get to the North Side for the hotel there was a lack of directions in fact some showed a NO ENTRY sign. The rooms were quite shabby and need some improvement.
Review 6:The price was reasonable and staff very helpful.
Review 7:Thin walls and didn't realise it was north bound of the M6 so it was a bit of a trek to get to as we were heading south
Review 8:Parking and wifi included plus it was clean and had a bath
Review 9:The bathroom was disgusting , needed a lot of work doing to it, bath full of rust around plug and taps and just in a bad way in general. Hotel wasn't lit from outside so even on a service station site it was difficult to see and very difficult to navigate in and out of. TV fell off stand as it was broken and the heating wasn't working. Loving the sign that asked you to try and not use the towels provided to reduce the laundry they would have to do...... Help Save the environment and your own health and just don't use the facilities. Go in, don't touch anything, sleep, leave ...... lol
Review 10:It was close to where we needed to be.
Review 11:Not sign posted easily from Southbound services. Hotel on a whole is very dated and needs an overhaul. We arrived just before 7pm and no dinner was available.
Review 12:Access to the room was easy, size of room was good and tea/coffee facilities where good.
Review 13:Asked to change room as it smelled of stale smoke. Was moved to upstairs room. Had to rehang the curtain which was off the hooks. Net was ripped. The bathroom shower wall was mouldy. It was in a quieter position which was a plus. The towells and bedding were nice and clean. Pity the corridors smelled of damp as the reception and restaurant area was nice and inviting. The building is dated and not the usual Days inn style building.
Review 14:The premises are in a poor state. The facilities are seriously dated and, frankly, smelly. The stench of dampness on the ground floor was overwhelming. We were booked into a non smoking room that absolutely stank of cigarettes. The beds were awful too. Never again
Review 15:Well the location was ok for us - and the staff were friendly enough. Also, the place is open 24hrs so pretty convenient
Review 16:seriously in need of being knocked down to start again. For a similar price you could stay at an almost new travelodge or Premier Inn. It is ok but just ok.
Review 17:Very convenient stop off.
Review 18:Mouldy ceiling in the bathroom, very old scratched bath and fittings and grubby shower curtain. This places needs a serious overhaul , tired and dated. A real shame as a clean basic motel chain would be great. Downstairs rooms with outside access available yet put us upstairs with our dogs!
Review 19:The location was good for us as a stopover on a long journey. Easy to find. Despite the appearance of the room the bed was quite comfortable . Allows pets.
Review 20:Fire alarm at 6am!! But that wasnt the hotels fault, dealt with quickly and efficiently. First lie in since having a baby 15 months ago! Ha ha
Review 21:For the price everything was great. Clean, brew making facilities in room, really good shower, tv. Very quiet where we were. Staff were polite and helpful.
Review 22:1st room given No heating 2 tog duvet for December - not good enough! 2nd room warmer but several defects cracked basin shower hanging off bathroom light faulty. We were not told the restaurant was closed when booking
Review 23:A very friendly & helpful lady on duty called Sharon
Review 24:Room was cold, but the hotel did fit the purpose. Could have got worse, but as we know, one size fits all.
Review 25:Staff, but as for the hotel, well it is just a typical Days Inn at a motorway. So really nothing to add, when you;ve been to one then they are all.alike.
Review 26:Wasn't Hotels fault but being woken up at 5:45 am and having to go out into the cold car park when someone set off the fire alarm
Review 27:So Close to the Venue we were attending Park Hall Charnock Richard
Review 28:I was staying with kids so I was expecting a more confortable room, thebathroom was a mess, the bathtub was dirty with marks of an old bath matand the drain pipe was rusty. The heater didn't work so we had topick some heater from the desk and for the worst we were waken up at 6o'clock because of the fire alarm. The smell of cigarettes wasalways present in the room, coming straight from the air vent which Ibelieve was never changed or cleaned. The pictures from the website arevery deceiving (it is probably a picture of their best room or from agesago when it was new...). The window was not closing properly so it was adraft coming into the room at all times...
Review 29:The only thing I liked was the bed,it was very comfortable.
Review 30:On arrival my booking for 2 nights was only showing as 1night. Breakfast food excellent but was served on a cold plate both days,on day 2 I asked for it to be returned to the kitchen and be served on a hot plate.I was told this could not be done as there was no means of heating plates!!!!!!!!! The room was not serviced at all as a consequence I had 3 wet towels in the bath. The toilet roll holder was without a spindle and a part used roll placed on the waste bin.
Review 31:staff & location close to M6
Review 32:Had to fill the paper work out my self eg passport number car reg felt the staff could of don it for me or aske would you like me to fill it in as had long drive sleep
Review 33:Bar
Review 34:Tired decoration, bathroom basin had cracks, windows round the edges were mildewed and dirty, bedside cabinet had dirty marks on it. Breakfast was an extra £7.95 OK if you have full English and cereals and toast ,but as I don't eat cooked breakfast it would not be worth it.
Review 35:We were mistaken about the location and it was not as near to Bolton as we would have liked, so not a lot really except it was not expensive for an overnight stay.
Review 36:I paid for a executive suit but it came looking like a standard room. Also the shower was shocking I could off tipped a bottle off water over my head and I would off got more wet
Review 37:Lack of restaurant facilities due to no staff on evening of arrival.Old fashioned bathroom.Loose backrest on only chair in the room.Flickering light in bathroom.Blown bulbs in bedroom.
Review 38:Nothing much
Review 39:The shower was awful, water only dripping out of it. The place needs some TLC. As for the breakfast buffet charging 6.95 for this is outrageous, no acknowledgement from staff, frozen bread, as for the "buffet" over cooked scrambled eggs that had been left there for a long time and were not edible, hash browns which contained more oil than potatoes, no mushroom left or sausage. Just shocking !!
Review 40:The reception staff were nice.
Review 41:The building generally was in desperate need of up dating. The bathroom facilities were very old. One member of staff was trying to serve drinks at the bar and cook meals at the same time.
Review 42:The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 43:The hotel is very tired and probably needs pulling down and rebuilding. I think I remember it being built in the sixties. The thermal insulation of the building is very poor by today's standards as out heating was full on 24 hrs., but the room temperature never exceeded 18DegC. I could go on but I won't.
Review 44:Large room, enormous bath compared to most hotels at these rates, very comfortable bed.
Review 45:Several general issues of maintenance water marks on ceiling main light did not work and electrical trucking hanging off the ceiling corridors and communial areas could do with a paint
Review 46:Clean and friendly
Review 47:Sat Nav directions took me off M6 and through villages, took ages then ended up at Hotel but on North Carriageway.....and Inwas heading South !
Review 48:Bar was open when I arrived at 23.00. Comfy bed, decent shower, good breakfast.
Review 49:Perhaps the bathroom looked a little tired maybe needed updating but it was adequate for 1 night.
Review 50:The room was clean, the staff were helpful and friendly, overall we had no complaints. We also had a breakfast which was lovely.
Review 51:Not really a bad experience but the rooms were a little cold upon our arrival
Review 52:Staff really pleasant and down to earth. Good breakfast. Overall, not bad value for the money.
Review 53:The place needs a total makeover. Is scruffy on arrival (foyer & breakfast room is ok) Décor and carpet upstairs hasn't been updated since the 1980's. Paper thin walls so any uncontained 'delight' (well after midnight) is shared by neighbours. Bath needs replacing - the plastic 'enamel' is chipped and nasty. Must be a nightmare for the poor cleaners who do an excellent job under the circumstances.
Review 54:Welcoming, loyal staff who remember you. Excellent M6 location situated as it is just north of Manchester before heading further north.
Review 55:No English breakfast available. Hotel staff said chef went home ill. Agency staff!, must have more than one chef!. Had to spend too much time waiting to be told no cooked breakfast
Review 56:Near to motorway
Review 57:We booked a family room for two adults and two children up to 12 years. There was one double bed and one single in the room. We asked reception about a fourth bed and were told it was a pull out under the single bed. We found a thin cot sized mattress not suitable for anyone over 5 which didn't fit in the room. (See photos). We questioned this with reception and were told that all the rooms were like that. Our 10 year old daughter had to sleep with her feet hanging of the end of the bed and kept banging her feet on other furniture. This was not a room suitable for a family of four and should never have been sold as such.
Review 58:No redeeming features!
Review 59:Not pleased about the inconsistency in pet charges...a previous visit we were not charged, this past visit we were charged £5 per pet ...
Review 60:fair value for the accommodation
Review 61:We opted to pay for the full english breakfast, i don't know if it was an off day but the service and quality of the food left a lot to be desired.
Review 62:convenient place to split up a long journey, everything you need for a good nights rest.
Review 63:No menu fro teh restaurant - I was asked to read a wall poster! Soup advertised as 'with crusty bread' served with 1 slice of poor quality sliced white bread Breakfast - no servce at tabel - had to go and find someone toplace order
Review 64:Location
Review 65:There is nothing I could dislike about staying at days inn
Review 66:We have stayed at days in charnock Richard every time we have visited family and would never stay anywhere else. Great service, great value and also a very clean room.
Review 67:The bedroom smelled damp, my sons single bed smelt of urine. The room overall badly needed decorating, in particular the bathroom ceiling needed replacing as it was mouldy and the bath was rusted. Overall the quality of the room was poor.
Review 68:Location was good (although difficult to find in the dark once off the motorway). Staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 69:Breakfast needs to be expected a bit better as we was told it was help your self and eat as much u like . Yes it's true. But not on fried breakfast just on toast serial crumpets yogurts cheese tea coffee juice. So think it just need to be explained when booking but still was nice. Part from that is was a so nice stay. More milk in rooms as we had 1 and had to go and get more .And sugar as there was 5 in room .
Review 70:There was shampoo wash towels in the rooms and tea coffee sugar milk.and breakfast was nice but need to be expected a bit more. Love the fact that you get children free to eat when paying with a adult I love it thank you and I love it we did not have to leave until 11 . So this was so much better I would book agen thank you for haveing us .Mr sean nichols
Review 71:Very useful location on a journey. Helpful staff at check in who made certain that we saw that our car's registration number was recorded correctly. Comfortable large bed.
Review 72:Mould in bathroom and hallway roof Mentioned to staff but nothing was done about it even when I wasn't there for 4 days
Review 73:Location Value for money apart from mould problem
Review 74:We arrived after a long journey up the M6 to be informed that there was no chef available so normal food was not available either. For supper we had bacon and salad sandwich . We are an elderly couple [87 and 77] and we remembered how a travel lodge will usually have a lift to the bedroom floor. The stairs were a little daunting but we managed
Review 75:Easy to find. Comfortable bed. Staff were helpful in difficult circumstances
Review 76:Bathroom ceiling was black in patches, rusty around bath plug. Toilet roll balanced on top of sanitary bin. Toilet seat/lid badly stained which must be very frustrating for the housekeeping team, room otherwise very clean. Extremely disappointed with breakfast, obviously short staffed, waited ten minutes before seeing anyone then had to clear a table ourselves to sit down. Had to ask for mugs, glasses, cutlery, juice and bread because the self service area was not stocked up. My daughters cooked breakfast was delivered 10 minutes before mine. By the time we left our table had still not been cleared of the previous occupants dishes. I was unable to discuss at the desk due to a queue of other guests and staff.
Review 77:Convenient for our journey, no restriction on check in time and free parking
Review 78:Despite requesting an accessible room an upstairs room had been allocated. The member of staff on duty did manage to rearrange the accommodation but I was concerned that we may have a problem with future bookings. I would rather know in advance if ground floor room not available.
Review 79:Easy access. Clear directions to hotel. Clean accessible room. No noise.
Review 80:After arriving at Charnock Richard Services, travelling south it took half an hour to find the place. The directions on the website are wrong.
Review 81:Perfect accomodation at reasonable price, excellent resturant in house.
Review 82:The bath needs replacing room 84 but other than that we found it excellent value for money and would use Days Inn again if in the area
Review 83:the size, comfort and cleanliness of the room
Review 84:Booked a family room for an overnight stay for 2 adults and 2 young children. In the room there there was one double bed and one single bed with a pull out bed but no room for the pull out bed. Checked with reception to make sure we had got the right room to be told yes. That's what family rooms are you have to live with it
Review 85:The breakfast was very expensive and we had to get our money back There was no fryed eggs no beans no mushrooms fryed bread or Tin tomotos very poor. When we asked we were told our fryer has broke couldn't quite understand why they couldn't use a frying pan for fried eggs. Wouldn't order breakfast again.
Review 86:The bed was comfortable.
Review 87:The Loo Roll Holder was broken There was no security chain on the door which was obviously broken and being on my own I felt insecure and had to put my case against the door. The hand basin was cracked.Could not get into internet
Review 88:The bathroom was dirty there was faeces down the side of the toilet (nearest the wall) only the middle of the floor had been ?brushed, there was an accumulation of dirt round the edges, the shower curtain was black at the bottom. The wall between the bathroom and bedroom on the bedroom side had some kind of liquid sprayed all over it (possibly bodily fluids). It was disgusting and had we arrived earlier in the evening we would definitely not have stayed, we checked out shortly after getting up. we were disgusted with extent of the neglect you could see in the daylight. The staff seemed to accept the complaint as normal. I tried to call the hotel but they only accept complaints at certain times and it was busy.
Review 89:Location was good
Review 90:The inter-joining walls are very thin! When I arrived the chap in the next room was talking so loudly I could almost hear every word. At first I wondered about asking to change rooms, but in fact he may have gone to another room as after 10pm it was silent, no even any plumbing noise. I found the taps incredibly stiff to turn on, especially the bath, for anyone having a shower it would be dangerous as the cold tap would hardly budge. Also there was a lack of handles near the bath-the standard one on the wall-side was hardly functional in that position. Health and Safety issues are so prominent these days. Finally, I found the room cold that evening and noted that the radiator was impossible to turn on, maybe it is Company policy to wait until October? Why only one chair in a double room?
Review 91:Ease of parking. View of a field from the window.
Review 92:We were looking forward to breakfast (though hadn't pre-paid) Unfortunately some electrical fault put paid to that and we had to eat elsewhere.
Review 93:Very much appreciate the hotel being pet friendly, though on this occasion the dogs slept in the van.
Review 94:We booked a family room well in advance. When we arrived, the lady on the desk could hardly raise a smile. We gave her our name and the room was the wrong one, it only had one bed. We finally got a family room which looked as if it had seen better days, also the smell of cigarette smoke on the ground floor was horrible. There was no water to drink or brush our teeth with due to the water problem in that area. We had to go and buy bottled water from the services shop which the shop assistant said had tripled in price since the water problem. Carpets to and from our room looked like water damaged. We feel that the hotel should have at least provided a couple of bottles of water ( 2ltr ). We won't be returning.
Review 95:Leaving.
Review 96:room was a little smelly and property in need of a good renovation. Same price as modern travelodge and premier inns but seriously tired and dilapidated rooms.
Review 97:Friendly checkin staff.
Review 98:Breakfast not as good as previous visits not a lot of choice . The bed kept moving bathroom / shower old and tired
Review 99:Location very handiy for breaking up out journey price
Review 100:Horrid dirty place which stank. We asked to be moved and they did moveus but room was not much better. Shower curtain edging had black mouldon it, toilet handle coming of the wall and the carpets were filthy. Wehad booked two nights but checked out the next day. Very badly signedposted entrance.
Review 101:Nothing
Review 102:It looks very old school and this may put people off...
Review 103:Comfy bed and piping hot water! Excellent breakfast and good location to the services for snacks!
Review 104:Booking in staff did not tell us not to drink water or give us bottled water had to pay £1 for small bottle with small children that should have been first thing she said.
Review 105:Out side area lovely
Review 106:perfect for travellers, who are looking for a clean not expensive room to sleep in the area. The room was large, the bed was very comfortable, staff was friendly. The Hotel is part of an motorway Service Station, but separated by an separate road, so I was not disturbed by loud noise. Can`t say anything negative.
Review 107:Bed bugs. Unable to sleep for the itchiness. Child bed consisted of mattress on floor covered with plastic. Neighbors loudly engaging in sexual intercourse many times during the night.
Review 108:I didn't realise until the morning that there was a bar/restaurant when we went down for breakfast. We would have had tea there if we had known. The continental breakfast was basic and the tropical fruit salad had gone off. When I reported this there was no apology or offer of fresh fruit. This was disappointing.
Review 109:Room had good fascilities. Beds comfortable and shower powerful and bathroom clean.Free parking appreciated.
Review 110:The room smelt damp on entry. The bathroom was in very poor condition bath visibly rusty and put us off using it. Breakfast poor quality and only one member of staff on duty.
Review 111:Didn't think much of the wifi experience
Review 112:Friendly staff. Rooms are clean & comfortable. Located opposite services so convenient for eating out, etc.
Review 113:Breakfast food was very nice but there were simply not enough staff on. No clean plates, no clean tables, the water urn needed refilling, hot food needed topping up and only one young girl trying to do everything!! She was good but could not manage alone!!!
Review 114:The staff were unhelpful. We showed our booking confirmation and weretold we did not have family room but I had a email that showed I had.We were still given just a double Room had to go back down to get Lovedagain to move to yet another room with a bed short to be told they hadNothing else ! Why advertise as a famy room if you don't have afamy room . We would not have booked if we had known and will beexpecting a refund . We were at a wedding and could not Find somewhereelse within the hour.
Review 115:We booked a room for 2 adults 2 children . There was only one double bedin first room. Then we were moved to a room with a double bed and then asingle with a pull out rubber mattress. However the room was Not Bigenough to pull out the matress and all rooms are same size. Staff saidthey don't have a family room yet that's what we booked ! Thematress didn't pull out enough for our 6 year old to sleep on!
Review 116:I'd booked a room for two adults and one child. When I arrived, only a double room was available, without provision for a child's bed. A double room with a King size bed was clearly inappropriate for a married couple and a 12 year old daughter. I was obliged to travel another 150 or so miles without overnight stay because of your failure to provide the promised accommodation.
Review 117:The courtesy of your manager
Review 118:Unbelievably hot in whole hotel & rooms despite it being middle of summer either heating was (or had been) on. Therefore uncomfortable to sleep even with window open
Review 119:Convenient for location needs & well priced
Review 120:Too warm and not enough milk in room. Staff shouting from the bar to reception - very common behaviour - similar to some of the guests. Shabby interior and for a few pounds more I could have stayed at the Best Western in Leyland. Won't be returning.
Review 121:Nothing!
Review 122:When we arrived (late) the receptionist was in conversation with another member of staff and although pleasant enough, didn't greet us with a smile and continued his conversation without apology before acknowledging us and then continued to talk throughout the registration process.Poor repair of room but I guess that was because we'd paid such a competitive rate. Bath and room furniture more than 'tired' they were positively asleep! Breakfast dishes and cutlery - searched and eventually found a clean item.
Review 123:It was convenient and we had stayed there before. A good deal was being offered. Wifi, free parking and tea/coffee facilities were adequate. Breakfast good but a little expensive compared to price of room. Receptionist on morning of departure was excellent, friendly and smiling.
Review 124:Very disappointed. The room was tatty and smelt damp. The 4th bed for my daughter pulled out from under the single bed. There wasn't enough room to pull out the bed fully. It was small and the mattress was like a gym mat! It was boiling hot in the room too. Would not stay there again!
Review 125:The bathroom could have been cleaner. Also, there had obviously been a pet in the room before us and as my husband suffers from allergies the hairs all over the room meant that he suffered all night. This should be a question asked at the booking stage.
Review 126:Location was perfect for us. The staff were very friendly.
Review 127:Wish the receptionist could learn to smile ! Food was poor - service poor but the restaurant staff were doing their best - clearly not enough staff
Review 128:Large car park and plenty of space to walk the dogs
Review 129:We had no drawers in the room to put clothing.
Review 130:Staff very helpful and friendly. Easy access to motorways. Don't have to leave hotel to find something to eat.
Review 131:Grumpy eldely woman on reception in evenings, scruffy untidy person. Not enough staff waited 15mins for a drink and waited 1hr for a one course meal. Room smelt of someones feet.Waste bin not emptied and kettle had water in it.Booked a ground floor room did not get it.This place has gone right down since I last stayed there.
Review 132:Nice grounds to walk dogs. Has a bar Has a restaurant
Review 133:The rooms and corridors are in a terrible condition. In my room, the carpet was lifting; curtains were only partially attached to the curtain rail. Room clearly hasn't been updated or thoroughly maintained for many years. Like something out of the 50's.
Review 134:The helpfulness & courtesy of the staff. The evening meal was cooked promptly and well.
Review 135:The hotel is getting a bit tired for example we had a damp patch coming through the wall from the bathroom. The location is not great if you are planning a longer stay.
Review 136:Four-bed rooms, pet friendliness and free wifi make this an easy and fairly comfortable stop over for a family on a long journey. The location (motorway services) is convenient for a quick stopover en route to somewhere else.
Review 137:The hotel could do with a major refurb, particularly the windows which were misty and mouldy within the double glazing. there were also clear indications of rot in the internal frames.
Review 138:The location was ideal, in a rural setting and sufficiently far back from the M6, keeping motorway noise to a minimum. The room and bathroom were of a good size, somewhat dated, the bed was comfortable and the shower worked adequately delivering plenty of hot water. The staff weer welcoming and helpful.
Review 139:nothing keep it as it is and the staff are brilliant.
Review 140:It was and always will be a safe haven on the long road north, for the place to put your head down for the night after on 4 hour drive up the motorways to get north of Manchester before bedding down for the night.
