Reviews for Horseshoe Pass Holiday Lets
Review 1:Could do with a bit of tlc maybe some new lounge furniture and removalof cobwebs but this didn't ruin our stay one bit
Review 2:Stunning location and views Friendly staff Lots of space in the barnLots of essentials left for us to use eg tea bags, washing up liquid, milk in fridge Central heating wasn't working so we were left a fewfree bags of logs for the fire (the barn wasn't cold even withoutcentral heating) Free working wifi :)
Review 3:KITCHEN FACILITIES NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED . NEEDS NEW MICROWAVE,KETTLE . OVEN IS VERY OLD AND TAKES VERY LONG TO HEAT UP
Review 4:LOCATION IS NICE BIG HOUSE HELPFUL ADVICE
Review 5:The apartment was a bit smaller than expected and a bit dated. Unfortunately we could not regulate the heating as it was just on a timer. Luckily the weather was mild for December. Wifi didn't work which was a shame.
Review 6:Location, Great views, walking area, peaceful
Review 7:The chalet was "run-down" and not clean. It was also not safe with missing bolts on doors and lack of lighting in and out.
Review 8:The location was good, except for the narrow and badly illuminated road to the chalet.
Review 9:We stayed in The Den. It was cold on arrival as there were just two plug in heaters disconnected. There was no table to eat from - the staff said there was just an outside table, but as it was raining and November, not a good suggestion. There was no kitchen sink - food prep and washing up had to be done in the adjoining bathroom. The smoke alarm kept going off for no reason. Again the staff offered no solution for this.
Review 10:The views were good with a decent walk direct from the attractive property. The bedroom was spacious for 2 (we stayed in The Den which could sleep up to 6). There was tea, coffee and milk supplied on arrival. There was plenty of hot water.
Review 11:Only concern was the radiators were not in use so had to use the electric heaters available. Luckily the weather was very mild alternatively it could of been quite cold.
Review 12:Lovely location close to village and all local amenities. Well equipped apartment even had fresh carton of milk in fridge along with tea coffee and sugar pots. We really enjoyed our stay at a beautiful time of year.
Review 13:Uncomfortable beds, ancient lounge furniture, very noisy neighbours easily audible through adjoining doors
Review 14:Fantastic location, easy parking, friendly and helpful staff, roomy.
Review 15:Wasn't told what time breakfast was so arrived last minute and staff cleared all away without asking if we wanted anything...ie a cuppa, yogert cerial...
Review 16:Fantastic staff..very helpful and kind
Review 17:The accommodation is really just an old house split into different holiday lets. But there's very little sound proofing between apartments and no privacy. You can hear other people's conversations as if you were in the same room, which is terrible if you're trying to sleep.
Review 18:Good location, close to Llangollen. Onsite staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 19:The big oven didn't work which I felt was a shame as it's such a good feature.
Review 20:Location of property was excellent. Size of the property and how the properties linked was amazing.
Review 21:The whole house was very dirty and overall was careworn and in need of updating. There were many things around the property that were broken or in a state of disrepair. Concerningly some of these were electrical items and we were also perturbed to note that the fire extinguisher that was placed near the wood burner had last been serviced in 2004. Paint/plaster was peeling from walls. The kitchen in particular was very dirty. The downstairs shower was tiny and the door hit the loo every time it was opened or closed. The drier door was broken and had been 'fixed' with blue tack. There were exposed pipes in the downstairs shower room. No hair dryer was in the house and when asked we were given a small travel hairdryer. There was also no baby gate in the baby set that we had paid an extra £15.00 for. The outside was as dirty and careworn and there seemed to be no specific barbecue for the property we were in, (the house), we did see two rusty barbecues that were closer to the other properties. It was unclear which outdoor areas were allocated to which property though when we did use one of the gardens we found dog faeces in the grass. The website showed images of the property which were not correct as they showed an extra bathroom and were misleading overall. Overall the property was more than disappointing.
Review 22:Location was beautiful and the views were the only truthful thing from the website.
Review 23:5 of us stayed in the chalet for the weekend and loved the place. Lovely location, great set up,staff were really helpful when booking. Highly recommended if you want some peace and quiet in the valleys.really close to Llangollen and the horseshoe pass.
Review 24:Chalet misrepresented on website, the Chalet is on the carpark. Garden and bbq? One tiny patch of land and a rusty unusable bbq. Matresses on bed worn out, uncomfortable and disgusting. Bedding old and bobbly. Carpets old and dirty. Bathroom size of cupboard. Everything badly maintained. I could go on and on. This was the first holiday we have has in 5 years, and it was ruined our holiday. Not even worth half what I paid. I feel ripped off. My kids hated it so much we only tried to sleep on the worn out beds and spent as little time as possible there.
Review 25:Nothing.
Review 26:We stayed in the annex which meant that we had to go via the main bedroom to to the other bedroom and to use bathroom which caused problems if someone wanted to stay up late etc Also, the shower facilities needed updating.
Review 27:The scenic views surrounding the accomadation was amazing, lovely place to walk and drive.
Review 28:Stayed in the House. Needs some attention (bit outdated) and a serious good cleaning. Previous visitors had a dog with them and floor and corners were not clean. Holes in carpet living room. Disappointing. Could be such a great place.
Review 29:Location, spacious house, friendly staff
Review 30:the only thing was that there was no table to eat breakfast off either inside or outside.
Review 31:In a lovely spot though you do need a car to get up an down the hilly lane if you cant walk.Dogs are free to run around in the garden at the den.If you want a better view,go in the lodge. There is a microwave, fridge and oven and basic facilities
Review 32:The cleanliness. Spiders on plates and pans, some of the cutlery was unclean. Had to clean everything before using.
Review 33:The views were outstanding. The location to Llangollen was fantastic
Review 34:I stayed in the House at the Horseshoe Lets. We hired the cottage as a place to stay for my best friends wedding. We were a party of four adults and two young children. The customer service leading up to our stay was excellent. The staff were very quick to respond to emails and any questions we had. However we were very disappointed with the cottage itself and the service we have received since our stay. The cottage was very dirty. The floor was thick with dog hair and the oven was quite frankly disgusting. There was an inch of grease and food remnants everywhere. The cleanliness was certainly not to a standard I would expect. I don't think there was any standard!More alarming was the state of repair the cottage was in. It was so bad that I actually considered it unsafe. There were plug sockets hanging off the wall with wires exposed, broken galss on the floor of the bathroom, skirting boards hanging off the walls, broken furniture and equipment, and no working light outside for the steep steps leading up to the cottage. It wasn't ideal for anyone, let alone young children.Due to our time constraints and commitments during our stay we decided to put up with it and raise our concerns once we arrived home. We didn't have the time to relocate and we chose the location because of it's proximity to the wedding.Naively I thought the owners would give us some compensation due to the seriousness of the safety issues. However because I did not raise my concerns at the time they have refused to refund us any of our money. From my part this is a lesson learnt and if I have any problems with accommodation in the future I will always report it at the time, no matter how busy I am!Unfortunately I have found their correspondence to be rude and unprofessional. They did offer me a half price stay. But understandably after the issues we had I am not prepared to give them any more money.
Review 35:The other houses on site are very close and some adjoined. We were a large group of 15 adults and children and were concerned about noise levels disturbing our neighbours.
Review 36:Situated in a stunning location, perfect for walks and close to Llangollen. The house was spacious and had all necessary amenities with a beautiful view from the veranda. The property is located on a steep hillside which was fantastic for us but not for those with poor mobility.
Review 37:Very steep hill to go in. Bit close to next cottage with joining door
Review 38:Facilities clean and comfortable, good location to explore and good views from cottage.
Review 39:Property was in need of a face lift , bedroom was lovely and comfortable , living room/ bedroom / kitchen , more like a bedsit , having to use the sink in the bathroom to do the dishes . A door and window with curtain separating you and reception , being able to hear every word !
Review 40:Setting was amazing . Beautiful and tranquil , pub with waking distance .
Review 41:It was just comfort of beds as could feel springs.
Review 42:Accommodation for large family gathering is brilliant as house big enough for everyone but still got own places to go to. Very child and dog friendly. Great area Britannia pub at bottom of lane was excellent and we had toe evening meals there.
Review 43:In my opinion The chalet is too small for six people. The couch bed provided is unsuitable for sleeping it was extremely thin cushion to lie on and made it impossible to sleep. One of the beds was broken and so the mattress had sunk down. I would stay here again however in a bigger lodge.
Review 44:The location was fabulous and the log fire made the living room nice and cosy. Amy and Katie was at hand to talk to whenever needed. The chalet is very close to the town centre and the view from the terrace was amazing. It's would be perfect in the summer with the terrace and outdoor BBQ.
Review 45:The sea of furniture we had to move into the spare bedroom in order to use the space comfortably
Review 46:The position of the chalet in the hills is stunning. The chalet has potential to be beautiful. It has rustic charm but needs money spent on the accommodation
Review 47:When we arrived we were upgraded to the Barn. As soon as we walked in it had a "wow" factor. We had a lovely stay. Shame we couldn't stay longer.
Review 48:Kitchen: Extractor fan not working. Knobs missing on hob and not all rings functioned. Lack of pots and pans. Broken utensils. We religiously cleaned up after our dog but the owner didn't after his!!!!
Review 49:Location very pretty. Comfortable nights sleep. Superb shower.
Review 50:Going home :)
Review 51:The overall approach and attitude of the owners is very straight forward, friendly and made our stay very comfortable. Location superb and houses spacious and welcoming.
Review 52:Beds poor quality Didn't have spare bed ready first night - an adult had to sleep on the floor Bathroom in the middle of renovation - weren't advised WIFI non-existant - no reception
Review 53:Location, friendly staff
Review 54:No sofa so couldn't relax. There was a sofa bed but considering the location, you would expect a living room that was more comfortable. Also, it stated that 'the den' which is where we stayed was the newest addition to the complex, by newest I suppose they meant most recently converted as it wasn't new, which is fine however we were expecting a seperate property and there were guests upstairs, which I didn't feel safe about as there was a staircase in our appartment to theirs. The door was locked but the place lacked the privacy we wanted due to this. You can hear the other residents very clearly and it's disturbing as they were having a party aswell. :-/ not the kind of get away we had hoped for
Review 55:The location was amazing. The bedroom was comfortable and clean and tidy
Review 56:The drive up to the accommodation was very slippery and icy , we took my elderly mother and it was icy under foot , more grit was needed especially on the steps to the accomodation
Review 57:The views were amazing from the annexe as it had been snowing
Review 58:1970s furniture including vile peach leather sofa needs updating. Not fit even for charity. Kitchen felt dirty and unusable. Beds were truly awful. Two of us fell down steep steps that were not de-iced. Avoid like the plague until owners upgrade throughout. We would never ever consider returning.
Review 59:Lovely Views
Review 60:A little bit far from the village, so if you need to move a car is needed.
Review 61:Nice and peacefull place. Warm and cosy appartments with all needed to prepare a meal. Ideal for a relaxing nature vacations
Review 62:We've stayed two nights in the house called Chalet. We haven't met the owners but we were in connections all the time by e-mail. We've got instructions about the accomodation before, what was really helpful and found further informations in the house too. It was very cosy and comfortable. The view from the Chalet is amazing! Ideal if you want to spend some quiet time in the nature or want to explore the welsh countryside. I'm pretty sure I return once again! :)
Review 63:Could have done with a sink in the kitchen area, but we managed fine with the double sink in bathroom, and this was reflected in the very reasonable price.
Review 64:Location was amazing, the bedroom was comfortable, lots of storage space, living room was good - the cooking facilities were good and everything worked. Great shower, lots of hot water. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 65:Not enough seats in lounge area for us all to sit was the main issue we had.
Review 66:Definitely snug but nice and clean with beautiful views over the mountains. Staff were friendly and helpful and we had a great time.
Review 67:Squeaky bed in main bedroom.
Review 68:We stayed in the Barn which was a recent addition to the complex. We were very pleasantly surprised by our holiday let as we had not seen pictures beforehand. It was perfect for us and our 5 children plus dog! Perfect venue, setting and amenities. Homes are set at top of a steep hill (country roads) practice reversing!!!
Review 69:The holiday let had a steep gavel driveway leading up to reception, in some rooms they were in need of decorating and repair, but was told being sorted in next few weeks!! and only a silly thing but the wifi signal was poor
Review 70:Location and views were excellent,a ideal base for walking/hiking.The holiday let was good value.Had good parking, staff friendly , Will definitely go back.
Review 71:Steep,narrow potholed access driveway. New kitchen but no instructions for stove or range hood. No instructions for TV. No tourist info in unit or at reception which had laundry going behind office.. Bathroom and bedroom needing repairs and updating
Review 72:Location View
Review 73:Place not very clean and staff did not attend to us when they told us they going to.Matress on bed very poor quality and needs changing.Better of sleeping on the floor.Nobody came around to check if we ok or if we needed anything.Poor customer service
Review 74:Very nice views and setting of accomodation.
Review 75:Property needs lots of TLC and maintenance. Lacking essential items eg. Detergent, dish cloth, tea towels. Etc. Very poor value for money. This Accomodation is OVERPRICED!
Review 76:Views, tranquil setting. Double shower with lovely hot water.
Review 77:On arrival the snug had not been cleaned since previous guests.dishes in the sink, beds slept in, dirty towels, rubbish scattered on the floor and generally a mess.relocated to the den, which was relatively clean and tidy.granted access to the barns living area, this had also not been cleaned since the previous guests! Expected it to be cleaned the next day.....which it wasn't.both sets of patio doors were unlocked on arrival to the den/barn also door separating the den and barn apart was unlocked, without checking would of left our group with a lack of security.
Review 78:Views of scenery fantastic aswell as location.comfortable bed and beautiful external buildings.tv and WiFi excellent.dog friendly .
Review 79:The drive up and down at night time was a little scary but thats not really something i would class as something i didnt like,.
Review 80:This was a weekend away for my birthday, i appreciated the regular contact in the build up to my stay, Amy had ensured i had recieved all my documents and guides. it was peaceful relaxing.
Review 81:Me and my fiancée stayed in the snug for 2 nights breath taking views brilliant service would defo go back again highly recommend place to just unwind and relax
Review 82:Nothing to say bad about this place.
Review 83:The novelty and charm of the place. Have never stayed in such a quiet and quirky place and loved it. Would definitely stay there again.
Review 84:Unfortunately I could feel nearly every spring in the bed, out of the 8 other guesthouses and B&B's this was the worst mattress I've come across. These would benefit from a simple mattress topper.
Review 85:Stunning location with a great use of space... A very nice area to unwind in. Great kitchen dining area especially with the decking on the chalet.
Review 86:Dripping Tap on arrival reported Tuesday morning still dripping Thursday morning on departure. Cracked ceiling in living room with signs of water leakage...reported Tuesday morning still not touched when departed Thursday morning Ceiling in two person shower paint pealing and signs of damp reported Tuesday morning nothing done on departure Thursday morning No marking on oven hob setting and therefore bit of guess work as to how to set hobs missing brick to corner of fireplace
Review 87:beautiful views pleasant and helpful staff ample parking secluded location
Review 88:The annexe where we stayed is rather tired and would benefit from some updating Kitchen is not particularly well equipped, which was fine for us as we only ate breakfast at the accommodation, but would be restrictive if you wanted to cook for several people. For example there were only 4 mugs, and the place sleeps up to 7 people. Access to the second bedroom is through the main bedroom, which could be tricky depending on who you are staying with. The mattresses were lumpy and have seen better days It would be helpful if advance warning were given about the extremely steep and narrow approach road to the holiday lets. The signage from the pub car park is not clear and because we arrived in the dark it would have been helpful if the sign were lit. I think it needs to explicitly state that it is the road to holiday lets as it looks like a footpath and we weren't sure if we could drive up it. It's extremely steep as you drive up, with some tight turns. The gardens and views are stunning but it would have been so much nicer if the garden had been tidied up as there was a lot of greenery which needed cutting back to make the path ways clearer. It would also just make the place look a bit more cared for. It's a nice place but in need of some tender loving care
Review 89:Views Preferable to a hotel for a couple of nights with the family Clean Staff very helpful and friendly. Good location for walks and access to Llangollen We enjoyed our stay in the Annexe, with some reservations about the property itself.
Review 90:Accommodation was rather dirty. Did not look like had been cleaned properly since previous guests. Water from shower leaked into sitting room and property maintenance was not really good enough.
Review 91:Location - Excellent! Character of the place - charming
Review 92:Excellent Location
Review 93:Dirty carpets. Dirty Walls Loose Balcony Broken Beds Kitchen with bits of utensils Bathroom so small you cant turn around Not suitable for childrens, should say this Very expensive for what you get Pictures are mis leading
Review 94:1. Only one toilet, while we have 2 families (4 adults and 1 child), so it was not sufficient 2. Washing machine is next to the office, though technically speaking, we can use them 24x7, still prefer a washing machine in the house, so we dont have to go outside. More privacy too. 3. Depending on your luck, next door neighbour did have a dog which left some dump-dump close to my front door.
Review 95:1. It provides what a typical holiday let cottage would have provided. 2. Close to Llangollen, you can walk there if you have to, about 1-2 miles. 3. Quietness, and privacy 4. Next to the Britannia Inn so if you need a decent meal or regular pint, it's not far 5. Kitchen facility is good - though there were cracked cups when I arrived but the staff quickly replaced them for me 6. Parking is convenient 7. Internet and SKY is available in the house 8. The Horseshoe Pass is right in the middle of many key places. You could reach Llangollen, Ruthin, Betws-y-coed, Snowdonia or even as far as Caenarfon & Llandudno in no time. You could use it as a good base if you want a bit of outdoor in a non-hotel facility.
Review 96:The steep track to reach the property should be health and safety checked. Would not have booked this property if we had known about this access. Little outside lighting. Whole property needed some TLC We felt it was over-priced compared with similar we have had during high season.
Review 97:The views from the property were fantastic.
Review 98:Very very shabby Totally unsuitable for self catering Not very clean Very expensive for what was provided No sink to wash dishes, no table ??? Furnishings shabby & covered with old throws. I could go on !!!!!
Review 99:The place cries out "maintain me, maintain me". Broken radiator valves, flaking paint, holey grouting, tired carpets, kettle with enough scale and discolouration inside to sink a battleship, a hotchpotch of kitchen utensils, beds that have seen better days, deeply potholed drive - the list goes on and on. 3 years ago it was probably fabulous but, if the owners continue to neglect it, in 3 years time it will be a dilapidated dump.
Review 100:A beautiful location. Property had good facilities and was reasonably clean
Review 101:It was dirty, the hobs don,t work the kitchin needs more utensils and glasses. Needs to have health and safety check, lot of things which are not lawful no staff when arrived calling the 24hr help line at 1700 and getting a text at11pm at night this is not professional
Review 102:view and style of the house
Review 103:Towels were a bit hard and some of the interior bits needed some tlc for example curtain rings off hooks etc
Review 104:Loved the location everything self sufficient and easy to do
Review 105:The bed settee was broken and had a metal rod going through the centre which was very uncomfortable to sleep on.
Review 106:The accommodation was laid out well with a lovely garden and BBQ area. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful.
Review 107:There was nothing to not like! The drive up to the accommodation takes a bit of manouvering - but do worth it for the views!
Review 108:Stayed in the Annexe - nothing was too much trouble for the owners - from Booking to the stay itself. I stupidly forgot to take into account the fact that my father has difficulty with stairs & went I contacted to advise after we arrived the owners could not have been more helpful & accommodating. The annexe was clean & well equipped & the outside space & views were simply beautiful. Conveniently situated for Llangollen - we will definitely use this place again.
Review 109:Terrible costomer service. Dirty damp and cold. Couldn't wait to go home.
Review 110:Great location stunning views
Review 111:Great location. Helpful staff. Good information pack. Comfortable accomodation.
Review 112:The location was perfect and a very nice place to stay
Review 113:Excellent
Review 114:We really enjoyed the snug so cosy and a amazing place and view can't wait to come back again and maybe try one of the other houses out
Review 115:Lack of central heating Sky signal bit sketchy at times No signal for phone
Review 116:Location Views Solitude Balcony
Review 117:Good facilities. Outstanding views. Loss of supervision.
Review 118:The hob was old & slow .
Review 119:A lovely apartment in a beautiful location.
Review 120:please put in proper firm ortho matresses!
Review 121:location and atmos
Review 122:Only one toilet/bathroom on 7 people.
Review 123:Wonderful view, location, the nice terrace, green surounding...
Review 124:Double bed not comfortable, fridge freezer not clean
Review 125:There are no comments available for this review
Review 126:The whole property would've benefitted from an update and 'spruce'. Furniture and décor very dated
Review 127:The self catering facilities were poor
Review 128:The view from the den
Review 129:The kitchen sink has poor head access.
Review 130:Lovely location, characterful chalet. Great view of Llangollen.
Review 131:The outside needed refurbishment and quite dirty
Review 132:The views
Review 133:The futon was unpractical...our parents were unable to sit on it as it was so low. A proper sofa bed would have been better
Review 134:The views were magnificent
Review 135:Everything about this place could have been much better with not much money spent and some tlc . For the price ...it was a let down .
Review 136:The location
