Reviews for Elen's Castle Hotel

Review 1:Wonderful hotel to stay in. Everything was clean and the room very cosy. Comfortable bed and strong shower. The check in process was easy and the owners very friendly and accommodating. Dinner was good and hanging in the bar was a nice treat. Would recommend this little gem to others.

Review 2:Felt the price of £105/night was very high considering the place was in need of some serious quality decorating, seems a little run down and would benefit greatly with an overhaul to bring it up to standard

Review 3:Excellent location, staff polite and friendly

Review 4:Beautiful old building with lots of character, lovely sitting in the bar area and enjoying a drink with locals and visitors... would recommend it to friends.

Review 5:Owners were rude. Not welcoming enough, short answers and very miserable. Un-helpful

Review 6:great location. Staff are nice, bed was comfortable and great bathroom.

Review 7:15 mins from Betws-y-Coed is too far. Parking across busy road is only adequate. Lights around property kept us awake in our room. Bar staff were not friendly.

Review 29:Clean Friendly Helpful Home from home Excellent breakfast and dinner

Review 30:Double bed horrible. (Bunk-beds fine)

Review 31:Evening dinners were excellent, cosy feel to the place.

Review 32:Decor a bit tatty

Review 33:Really friendly and helpful staff Great food; breakfast and dinner Cosy welcoming atmosphere Fantastic location

Review 34:Everything was just perfect, the location, food and cleanliness of the hotel .

Review 35:Food was excellant, room was comfortable, location was excellant.

Review 36:comfortable room good food comfy bed very clean staff freindly

Review 37:We were asked to not pay for the castle as we are technically residents while staying at the B&B and were met by a fiery dragon at the castle after our look round and explained what we were told by the B&B owner.

Review 38:Great location and views Great food at the pub, breakfast was good but lacking in size for me,

Review 39:Can drive pass Hotel very easily not well signed posted.

Review 40:Ideal centre for visiting Snowdon, The LLyn peninsular, Caernarvon and the North Wales coast. A lovely breakfast to start the day and a very nice meal in the evening topped off with a nightcap in the cosy bar. Very quite but this suites us. Good parking. I should think there are good walks in the area, the hotel is situated in an a.o.n.b and a Castle is quite close.

Review 41:The only small downside for me personally was that the wifi didn't extend to our room (we were at the back) but it wasn't really too much trouble to use it in the bar and front room!

Review 42:Great owners, friendly staff, lovely food in the restaurant (locally sourced), quaint bar, great location, room to park out front, comfy beds. Will come again! Would not hesitate to recommend :)

Review 43:My only criticism would be the decor was a little tired. But for the amount of time spent in the room it didn't really matter!

Review 44:I liked the friendly proprietors and polite staff. Ideal location as there were plenty of activities/sights to see/visit. Food was good with a good selection on the menu.

Review 45:Room probably about ready for a re-decoration.

Review 46:Great location. Unique family run hotel with warm welcome and good service. Excellent cooked breakfast and super evening meal. Quirky decor in bar area. Comfortable bed which was nice.

Review 47:There was nothing to dislike.

Review 48:The room was a beautiful four poster bedroom with lovely views. The food was very good. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

Review 49:Very nice family hotel. We felt worm and cozy. The family room, that we ordered was comfortable. At the morning we have got exellent breakfast. I would like to mention especialiy the worm service, we received in hotel.

Review 50:Decor in rooms would benefit from a lick of paint. Smelled a bit damp too.

Review 51:Family suite suited our party very well. Children liked the bunk bed. Good to have tv's in rooms. Location great.

Review 52:The outside was shabby and unkempt, overflowing ashtrays full of fag butts and rain water (still there next morn). The room had a very strong smell of damp, when we arrived it was raining however all the windows were open in the room I think this was to air it out to try and rid the damp smell, the wardrobes were falling apart the carpet was damp, had we been staying any longer I would have asked to be moved the room was very shabby to say the least. We was given the impression the hotel was in a village it was just a shabby dingy street with one grubby pub and one Spar shop. We paid £300 for 2 nights! I really think this is over priced.

Review 53:We took our three grand children for a 2 night trip to wales. The staff were very friendly and helpful, our youngest is only 10 months and they prepared salt free food and washed his bottles in the kitchen for us. The evening meal was lovely real home cooked food and the children enjoyed their meals. friendly homely atmosphere, lots of room for the children in the rooms (suite) we were given. Breakfast was so good fresh and tasty, good high chair for the baby and lovely coffee. Clean bedding and beds, pillow ect.

Review 54:Nothing but would alert other travelers not to eat in the pub down the road !

Review 55:Family run and very friendly staff. Food excellent although portions a little small. Good parking.

Review 56:Unfriendly and generally poor attitude and customer service. Lacking in hospitality. Over priced in comparison with the other 6 places we stayed in during our trip.

Review 57:Location

Review 58:The only complaint we had about the room were the beds being hard. That comes down to preference though. Some people prefer harder beds.

Review 59:The food was delicious!!! 2nd best I have had while living in the UK. We chose to eat in their restaurant for dinner the night we checked in and it was so good! Breakfast the next morning we expected to have just toast and ceral but it turned out to be a full english breakfast. Yum!!! The owners were very friendly and the rooms were clean.

Review 60:Breakfast closed too early. We had a young baby with us, by the time we were up and dressed, we had had to rush breakfast.

Review 61:Family run hotel, old style bar with built in fire, comfortable with nice relaxatio area. Food was very good.

Review 62:Can't think of anything!

Review 75:Property slightlu in need of updating as far as decor goes

Review 76:Lovely setting, very friendly staff and so away from it all

Review 77:leaving the hotel.

Review 78:the room food was very good and a very good bar.

Review 79:The food was a bit over-rated & it was a wee bit shabby in places.

Review 80:The good sleeping facilities for our family. It looks idyllic from the outside

Review 81:Almost nothing except a little bad smell in the toilet...

Review 82:Comfortable, well-designed, reasonable price including parking, wifi and full breakfast

Review 83:Location and Family run

Review 84:Staff weren't very friendly and the rooms could have been cleaner. It's a lovely place but these points really took away the experience.

Review 85:Lovely hotel, good location, clean nice rooms, will be staying hereagain on my next visit to Snowdon!
