Reviews for BEST WESTERN Park Hall Hotel and Leisure Club

Review 1:Felt like a worn out butlins camp, no atmosphere and a sense of terminal decline

Review 2:Breakfast was plentiful and the staff who served in the restaurant were pleasant

Review 3:Comfortable spacious room’s friendly staff. Great value - Great breakfast. Other guest should show courtesy when returning back to rooms keep the noise down especially at 2 in the morning.

Review 4:We stayed in the village, it rained and there were large puddles right outside the door. We were a pillow short for the drop down bed

Review 5:Friendly welcome, clean room, good breakfast

Review 6:Miserable staff in the breakfast restaurant. Costs nothing to smile :) My pet hate - water left in the kettle from the previous guest - yuk

Review 7:This hotel was perfect for as a location. Plenty of parking and very quiet. The bedroom was very clean. Buffet style breakfast was very good and plentiful

Review 8:staff at leisure club, service in bar very slow. Breakfast although very nice could have done with a bit more variety e.g. only fried eggs available.

Review 9:comfortable bed, good food and staff in restaurant.

Review 10:disable lift needs looking at when you get to the top a bloody great chair is in the way.uplight in the step in smoking area is blinding replace with l.e.d lights under handrail

Review 11:excellent breakfast, clean rooms ,very polite staff

Review 12:Easy check-in and friendly staff. Excellent room and en-suite - very clean and well-appointed. Clean towels each day and tea/coffee making facilities. Excellent swimming pool and changing area. Superb food in restaurant - wide choice and well-priced.

Review 13:The guest in the next room we're up talking all night (until 7:30am). I did tell the lovely lady on reception in the morning. She did say if I'd have rung up in the night the staff would have sorted this. So lesson learnt, don't put up with noise. Can't fault the lady on reception as she listened and advised.

Review 14:I loved the staff, they we're very helpful and really friendly. The hotel was an amazing location for the wedding that we attended. Would defiantly recommend Park Hall to friends and family.

Review 15:Nothing.

Review 16:A really friendly hotel. Facilities were clean and all the staff couldn't be more helpfull. Much better than hoped after reading the reviews.

Review 17:Bar staff were not great, noise travelled into village rooms, room was dated, car parking for village was poor.

Review 18:Pool/leisure area was good, reception staff very helpful

Review 19:Nothing really

Review 20:Lady on reception was extremley polite and helpful room was amazing so clean and comfortable bed and teas coffees etc.. replenished daily

Review 21:Excellent friendly staff, food was very good. 24hr bar and room service. The leisure facilities are top notch. My sat nav decided to take me the long way round but you can gain access (for the time being) from charnock services from north and south bound sides, it's literally 3 mins from either side. I'm not a big fan of the large group of hotels BUT this really has impressed me by far. Ok so you wouldn't stay for a holiday but for business customers and trades with a larger lodge allowance you have to stay here.

Review 22:This place is quite big and sprawling and I had trouble finding my room, which was in a separate "barracks" type area. It was dark and the signposting was difficult to follow. Bed was rather soft and poor quality. Hot water pressure was low so it took quite a while to run a bath. Worst thing was that they had no proper beer. Only bitter they had was a tasteless chemical brew served very cold. This place is really for lager drinkers. Wine list was OK but they only had a very limited choice by the glass

Review 23:This was really a last minute booking as another hotel let me down. Everything was professional and staff efficient and friendly. Food was excellent, quite plain cooking but well prepared and presented and very tasty. The pool facility is good. It looks just a little tired, but the main pool for lengths was a reasonable size and clean with the water a good temperature. Nice Jacuzzi too. Decent bathroom with proper sized Bath was also appreciated Overall very good value.

Review 24:Cannot be helped, but the TV came on early in the morning by itself.

Review 25:Was not there long enough to view the facilities. However, I had a great nights sleep.

Review 26:Beer not very nice as though lines had been cleaned properly and attitude of manager not very good when it was pointed out to him

Review 27:Clean excellent food and facilities

Review 28:The hotel has been largely deserted since the theme park next door closed 5 years ago. Minimal staff available and maintenance is a big problem. Was built for a much bigger crowd but there is nothing left locally. Unfortunately I don't see the hotel lasting more than another year or 2. It's just too much to maintain. Also parking is messy with overflow car parks dotted around the hotel.

Review 29:The room was good in the main hotel, we had 2 family rooms. The restaurant was nice, leisure centre was well equipped.

Review 30:The location of the rooms could be better sign posted, a bit confusing. The carpet looked like it could do with a Shampoo. The curtain was hanging off its track. The free beverages aren't the best, but that's probably just my tastes.

Review 31:Love the feel of the room, just like a bedroom. The bed was very comfortable, the pillows not so (but I do like my feather pillows). It was very quiet and peaceful.

Review 32:Rooms were very basic, bathroom only two towels for three people and the handles on the bath had rusted and one handle came off. Ask to stay in hotel unless you want a 1 mile drive to rooms in hotel village.

Review 33:Breakfast was very good, decor in lobby, bar and restaurant excellent

Review 34:There was a stain on carpet in bedroom & no fan in bathroom & a lampshade missing on bedside lamp that was wall mounted

Review 35:The staff were lovely and very helpful

Review 36:I checked in to the hotel after a very stressful journey. I was a woman who was travelling on my own.I booked my room online 30 mins before due to having to abandon my journey due to the extreme weather. When paying for my room, the card wasnt reading my chip properly so they couldnt accept my card.I asked if they could do it manually, which i know they could dur to working at a bank and security checks etc. They said they couldnt which was bizarre when the hotel i stayed in the night previously had authorised this when i showed them id.It was then suggested to me that i would need cash and was told the nearest town eccleston was where i should go to draw out cashSo i off on my own again in the storm at night ti try and draw cash at 8.15pm at night.this turned into an hour trip due to traffic and the severe weather. When i returned i paid £57 cash for my room, which didnt include breakfast. At the point i was told I wasnt in the main building, i had to go out of hotel and walk through their land to some additional rooms.I can only describe these rooms as thd pitts! For a woman on her own I felt very vulnerable.they were secluded, it was not lit well. I was frightened walking there from the main hotel in the dark. I also sensed that there was no other guests staying around me.when i walked in the room, I was greeted with a huge smell of foist, it was dirty and It felt like the room had not been used in a long time.there was a huge film of thick dust on the headboard, the bed sheets felt dampand the mattress was all split and had stains.the bathroom was disgusting. Hairs, a film on the toilet water, clearly showing how long it was since the room was used and the bath was full of grime.to be fair, i rang reception and said I cant stay here and he was understanding. My argument is, why was i never told the hotel was full and I would be put into an annexe? Why was it so dirty.most of all after spending neally 1.

Review 37:Unfortunately the food was not great, we had room service in the evening as we arrived mid evening and regretted it straight away, the tikka masala was very salty and the chicken was dry. Also the ice cream tasted like it had been defrosted and refrozen. The breakfast was great though.

Review 38:We loved the hotel as soon as we checked in the reception area is really nice along with the bar and restaurant areas. Our kids loved the pool and didn't want to leave, the spa was lovely. We had a family room which we found very spacious and nice and clean.

Review 39:The blind fell off the door as we closed it and there were strands of spider web hanging from the ceiling

Review 40:The rooms are generously sized and could have accomdoated our children if they had travelled with us. Wifi was freely avaiable and reliable

Review 41:I didn't arrive until midnight after a four hour drive so was not happy being woken up at 4am by drunken idiots outside my room despite my call to reception this continued until gone 5am. Not acceptable.

Review 42:Nice hotel friendly staff breakfast was really good

Review 43:Apart from the lady in the spa the staff were very nice and helpful

Review 44:The little bungalow apartments in the holiday village and the pool were both fabulous!

Review 45:If I was being really picky I would say that the room could of done with a bigger tv but that's it

Review 46:Friendly staff ,clean room, great swimming pool gym area Nice fresh hot cooked breakfast

Review 47:Got a bit lost on the way back from the shop, but was sat nav's fault. Everything else was fantastic.

Review 48:Very enjoyable stay here and my children loved it, excellent hotel and great value for money. Will be staying there again in the future.

Review 49:hotel had potential to be high class but lacks in TLC lick of paint up keep and good old renovation and would be an excellent hotel but lacks in something. you pay for what you get,

Review 50:stayed in hotel area with teens, the breakfast was good and it was a traditional hotel with good location facilities food staff were good. value for money, don't be put off too much

Review 51:Room quite noisy as hotel located next to motorway.probably could have got a better deal on a dinner,b&b basis as bill was over150 pounds for 1night with no breakfast.

Review 52:Leisure facilities good

Review 53:The pool area could do with a good clean or overhaul

Review 54:The hotel and its staff are excellent the rooms in the village a good size for a family if 5 and the location and grounds wonderful

Review 55:There was a guest who every time I saw her was moaning at the staff. At breakfast one morning she complained that the butter was too cold . Really cold butter in a hotel whatever next .

Review 56:The pool for the kids is excellent , total value for money and super breakfast.

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:Was worth paying the extra £10pp for breakfast because the kids eat free. Really decent breakfast, good clean accommodation. We stayed in Room 49 which was situated on the village complex, short 5min walk from Reception. Drinks are really expensive but there is a Sainsburys local nearby to top up with snacks, beers etc. Will definitely be back.

Review 59:Bedrooms and bathrooms dirty, not cleaned. Ants in the kettle each day dirty tables in rooms. Maid collected bin and left clean towels but did little else. Restuarent not available to residents one evening until 8.30 PM therefore children could not eat until then priority given to rotary club without prior warning to residents. Not good would not stay we complained and were told that they would give is a 50% discount on a one night stay in the future but we won't return

Review 60:We assumed we were booked into the main hotel...we weren't -we hadto find our own way to a room outside the main hotel. This was notstated when booking.. We were offered three more rooms equally small andpoky . I would liken it to a seaside chalet.. Only smaller....every roomoffered was not in the main hotel ( this should have been highlightedwhen booking the room) .the manager used the hotels laptop to find us afar superior hotel costing £39 more for our two night stay. Be warnedring the hotel direct and check where the room you are considering islocated.????

Review 61:Surroundings

Review 62:The fact that it stated free wifi in the room type we had and not once did we manage to connect even tho we mentioned this to the reception nothing was done

Review 63:The use of the swimming pool

Review 64:The car parking was a problem, we returned back at 11.30pm and found it diffcult to park i ended up parking in front of a gate. The waitress who cleaned a table for us left clean cups on the table and sprayed cleaning solution over them and then proceeded to wipe around them, she didnt even attempt to move them so I moved them to an empty table. We went for breakfast at 9.15 it ended at 9.30 and as you can imagine there was limited choice but what was there was nice

Review 65:The hotel was nice, the rool which was in the holiday village was lovely and spacious. The swimming pool was really nice for the children and not to busy

Review 66:They had forgotten that there would be five of us and so there weren't enough beds. However a quick call to reception and someone arrived full of apologies with the extra bed and made it up for us immediately. Great service.

Review 67:Staff were extremely friendly and couldn't do enough. We hadn't booked breakfast as I thought £10 was a bit steep but the receptionist said that two of our kids ate free and the other was £5 so it worked out at £5 each - and it was an amazing breakfast, kept us going all day. Many have complained about the village rooms but walking there was all part of the adventure - the room was spotless and we appreciated the little extras in the room. Beds were very comfy, shower hot - just brill and amazing value for the 5 of us for a quick stop en route North.

Review 68:We were put in a pretty poor room looking over a flat roof covered in cigarette butts...we spoke to reception and they moved us promptly and with no fuss. Surrounding area is run down due to closed theme park.

Review 69:Generally polite staff with exception of one who I spoke to the reception about. Efficient and polite check in. Room was quiet and comfortable.

Review 70:being told to get our towels from the room since they didn't have any fresh ones left at the pool total disorganization at breakfast hotel awkward to get to as satnav was completely confused!

Review 71:facilities and price

Review 72:extra bed not make up old Malteaser under the bed only two towels for 4 tired decoration told kids eat free for breakfast, they did not say not if only 1 adult eats (to be fair they did let us eat which was good of them) had to wait ages for sweet menu only to find it was 10 min wait for a basic ice cream on.kids menu could not wait as too late for kids had to wait 10 mins by bar to then pay

Review 73:pool and facilities blue lighting in bathroom

Review 74:Unfortunately, the theme park next door closed 3-4 years ago, and very little has been done with the hotel since probably a while before that, it is slightly outdated and maintenance is botched especially in the leisure centre. They are chronicly understaffed as the hotel is too big to service and not enough guests to require the investment and staff required. Also the sausages at breakfast were undercooked as I'd say there were too many thrown in the oven together and may have been slightly frozen. And the chicken at dinner was undercooked, not dangerously, as the breast was too big to cook through. Should have been cut in half before cooking. Also have to chase the few staff around to order drinks or food, and only one person does housekeeping so you may be waiting a while when you arrive to get into your room.

Review 75:Despite bad reviews, it was very good. Room was very clean, food was very good mostly, and it was very quiet. Gym was well equipped and it was great value for 2 family rooms.

Review 76:Pool changing rooms were freezing. A few items had "run out" when we went to breakfast at about 9 am.

Review 77:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a proper three person room and therefore spacious and well thought out with hair dryer, iron, tea making and so on.

Review 78:Breakfast hosting could have been better, very slow and poorly advised about the options available, would have been better to have ordered hot food on arrival in resturant not 1h in .

Review 79:Great place to take kids, pool was lovely and warm. The family room was spacious and clean, the food in the bar was lovely.

Review 80:The village rooms left a lot to be desired. Holes in the wall where someone has obviously punched it, holes in bed sheets, poor wifi, only just enough room to walk round the 3/4 bed.

Review 81:Leisure facilities were great. Good value for money if u want somewhere to lay your head.

Review 82:Reminded me of the accommodation of the "Prisoner" TV series of the 60's - seemed basic and minimal. Much of the ground leading to the chalets was like waste ground and needs improving if facility wants to be taken seriously.

Review 83:Staff friendly and facilities were clean.

Review 84:We were in the annexe and it was like a 1970's holiday camp. Desperately in need of an up date. The decor in the chalet was definitely in another century - the 20th. Breakfast was said to start at 7.30 am but when we went in they were not ready, nor did it appear that the staff had arrived. When they did arrive a group of 3 girls and 1 boy stood together chatting and then an older lady in black joined them. What really put me off breakfast was that one girl with long blonde hair proceeded to put her hair up into a ponytail right next to the cereals/yoghurt and fruit. She messed about with her hair for a good 2 to 3 minutes, flicking it around. No one came to ask if we would like toast, we had to ask one of them for toast. In fact at one point the older lady had to ask them to clear dishes from two tables.

Review 85:Liked the setting with the lake. Booked this hotel for its close proximity to the venue we were attending. Also liked that we got a telephone call to ask if we were attending a function at the hotel, if not they would allocate us a quieter room.

Review 86:parking was a bit of a nightmare but the hotel had quite a few parties on the night we stayed. breakfast was over priced at £14.99 per person evening meal and drinks very pricey but no different to most hotels

Review 87:lovely hotel, staff very welcoming and helpful accommodated all my requests for a late check out and adjoining rooms.

Review 88:The only issue we had was our friends couldn't pick up the Wifi in their room, we had it for 1st night stay then the 2nd night we couldn't get it either.

Review 89:We were meeting friends and we choose this hotel as it was half way between us in Glasgow and our friends in London. We were surprised at how lovely the hotel was and the amenities it had that we could use considering the price we paid. The food was also delicious, we ate in bar, room service and in restaurant and never had any issues. We will defiantly be returning :)

Review 90:No heating outside for smokers in the winter months, upon checking in the receptionist spoilt a suprise bottle of Champaign by telling me that it was in the room, finally the breakfast was stone cold

Review 91:Good rooms and the pregnent bar woman had exellent customer shills

Review 92:Being able to use the gym and the pool is excellent after a long drive, rooms are really clean with nice decor. Can usually get quite a good deal too.

Review 93:I booked a twin room but when I got in there it was a double bed. The room wasn't the cleanest, there were bugs on the wall and the bathroom had mould in it and wasn't that clean

Review 94:I liked the free wifi and the helpfulness of the staff

Review 95:Didn't think the breakfast was great value.

Review 96:Easy access to the M6 motorway north and south via the services. The rooms are very spacious. The onsite facilities, gym, pool etc.

Review 97:Excellent al a carte food + chef made desert two nights as not on menu, function on so a bit of noise late one but what you would expect, only booked one night but stayed over and would go back. Rates and food put other Hotels to shame.

Review 98:The room which they , put me in , was disgusting !!!!!! Looked very tired , bathroom wa ok , but the taps , just moved when you turned them on , never stayed anyehere as poor in a long time , very very disappointed indeed

Review 99:The hotel

Review 100:I had only one complaint and that was the price and quality of the breakfast - we didn't book this in advance and at £14.95 we felt this was too expensive especially as some things had run out.

Review 101:I liked how responsive, polite, friendly and efficient the receptionist was when we stayed, she really couldn't do enough for us. Overall it is a good hotel in a good location, we will be back.

Review 102:Our room (202) overlooked some sort of generator plant that operated throughout the night! The restaurant was short staffed as a waitress had gone off sick. While we sympathise with lass it should have created a problem for management not the guests. Breakfast was below average; there was no choice of milk, no proper muesli, no choice of yoghourts, no water offered and slow service.

Review 103:The food was good.

Review 104:Still awaiting sight of invoice despite being assured would be forwarded as soon as the system was up/running. No heating /hot water , mattress needs replacing .

Review 105:Apart from the San Miguel / plain crisps , Not a lot.

Review 106:Village area isn't great. My room was clean and functional and ok for the price. There's renovation in progress so it's being addressed. The restaurant is expensive. Avoid!! Eat in the bar !

Review 107:Main hotel and spa areas are fabulous. Bar was great and decent food and drinks. Good price bed and breakfast - cheaper than premier inn. Handy for m6.

Review 108:Friendly staff, 2 swimming pools one for swimming and one for the kids to have a good splash about in The bar food was very good and plentiful as was the breakfast the following morning

Review 109:Cleanliness in the hotel. We went there in the evening, but the corridors were filled with beddings from other rooms as they were being cleaned at that time.

Review 110:Location

Review 111:I booked this for 2 staff members and they have said that its the best Best Western That they have every stayed in. and that they would both stay there again

Review 112:Nothing really.

Review 113:A very decent hotel. Friendly staff, excellent location in a park, plenty of car park, leisure club nearby. Great for joggers. The room was clean, spacious and had all amenities. Overall a fair value.

Review 114:The bathroom had a very strong damp smell. I also felt the breakfast was a bit pricey for what we were given.

Review 115:The location is good, lovely setting and nice courtyard.

Review 116:Wasn't told on booking we were in a far flung chalet away from parking and main hotel. Wifi didn't reach that far. Arguments in middle of night outside the room. Blue lighting in bathroom appalling. Water problem and only two small bottles provided in room. All above mean hugely over pricefor rooms. Not what I expected for the cost

Review 117:Large room

Review 118:Although the beds are well made and look good the mattresses are uncomfortable, I have stayed in the village part and hotel and found this to be the same for both. The carpet was soaking wet near the bathroom and when I informed the staff about it they said and did nothing.

Review 119:The hotel, staff and food are lovely and there is a good atmosphere.

Review 120:My partner and I had got married the night before so wanted a night away to ourselves we found the hotel was a relaxing romantic beautiful hotel and we decided to make it our yearly anniversary retreat in the future. We loved it

Review 121:Breakfast was far too expensive so we went out for breakfast. The whole hotel is shabby and needs updating, didnt think it was worth the £75 for room only that we paid.

Review 122:The staff were very friendly and helpfull.

Review 123:No WiFi in room although it is advertised as available everywhere. Phoned to sort it out but no luck and staff weren't apologetic. TV in room was miniature and people next door were smoking right outside our front door

Review 124:Was good to get away at a reasonable price, leisure facilities were fab.

Review 125:Very noisy..woken up several times by noisy guests .One other guest came out of his room ( early hours ) ,knocked on another door asking guests to " keep the racket down " because he could not sleep .

Review 126:Easy parking...polite staff...instant hot water very good .

Review 127:Good pool available with family friendly changing areas. More privacy with rooms been within the village giving the children the space to play outside rather than been in a room bored. Good breakfast, helpful, friendly waitresses.

Review 128:We were in the outside rooms that were like Butlins. Very very noisy the people in the other room came in late with noisy children and kept banging the door. No sound proofing. Also the opening hours of the pool on a Saturday morning meant we were unable to use it.

Review 129:Bed was very old and uncomfortable Maids didn't clean our room we had to get towels and water from the swimming pool Also I paid for a paper which I didn't receive Very bad wifi

Review 130:Swimming pool and the hotel was nice

Review 131:We loved our stay at the hotel! It added a luxurious touch to our bank holiday weekend! Food was tasty, rooms very clean and comfy, stuff- very polite and helpful. It was amazing how they helped a Jewish family (set next to us) make the most out of their breakfast experience!

Review 132:It's a bit of a walk to the rooms Wasn't easy to find at night

Review 133:I think the breakfast is rather too expensive especially if you are there with the whole famoly

Review 134:Door lock did not work properly, even when new key cards had been supplied. Took over 5 minutes to get into the room. Bed headboard was propped up against a wall, had been pulled off the wall. External appearance of the rooms was unattractive, looked like wartime Nissan huts.

Review 135:Outside areas well maintained. Nice bathroom with a good shower.

Review 136:Noisy residents waking us up at 4am banging around.

Review 137:Swimming pool was excellent but too much chlorine. It didn't feel like a hotel it felt more like home. Lovely friendly hotel and most of staff made you feel welcome.
