Reviews for The Haybarn

Review 1:No alternative fire escape route. Very small room. As a buisiness traveller no where to work. Carpet Tired. Noise from adjacent room toilet

Review 2:All the bits & pieces you would get in a boutique hotel.

Review 3:Broken glass on the carpet. Long black hair on my (clean) pillow Noisy children and shouting man upstairs, late at night and also early morning. Leaking sink. Smelly toilet. Neon fire sign which lit the whole room in a green glow all night long. Inventory of items with threats of action if I damage or steal anything. I am a guest - NOT a criminal.

Review 4:Pleasant barman who took me to the room. Hot water available in shower.

Review 5:What's not to like about it.Really nothing, except finding it, as even locals don't know it because it is tucked away behind a pub off of a car park behind shops. Yes its secure and quiet but best found by first walking to the "pub" who own it.

Review 6:Excellent room with all the bits you need, tea coffee, biscuits, soap and shampoo. Actually great, but curious location, for town and bus/railway stations, no need for taxis. W/spoons is close by for breakfast!

Review 7:Nice room, double with en-suite and another room with single, both had tv's. Parking available outside on meter only a few few pound after 6. Local pubs that do food in next street.

Review 8:Check in is at a nearby bar. When I wanted to check out there was noone to take the key. Moreover, other guests made lots of noise at about 2am during my stay.

Review 9:Very nice room, clean and comfy.

Review 10:My partner and I had one of the worst nights of my life in hotels and hostels....and I've been in a few! The building the rooms are in, is a tiny stone building in a late night area in the centre of Swindon. It's attached to an interesting but noisy pub, and a car park, and electricity substation. There is one entrance door to the building, and four rooms. Anything anyone else is doing in the building is audible. I've no objection to anyone having sex next door, but when one of the other occupants declares at 1 in the morning that the front door will be left open, so that partygoers can come and go up the stairs, and into the room opposite mine, leaving the door open, and this situation continues into the small hours, it is a major disturbance to any possible slumber. In addition, though it's not the owners fault, the emergency light above the door, might as well be a searchlight....didn't contribute to a good nights sleep. The party noise across the hallway subsided at about 4 am. The owners really need to develop some method of preventing noise and disturbance and the ability to leave the door wide open. With no receptionist, this will happen, so I'm not sure what can be done. Finally, there's no one to contact, no indication of where to leave the keys upon departure. It's a pity, because the rooms are quite thoughtfully done, but I wouldn't recommend this place if you actually want to sleep.

Review 11:Some nice touches to the room, and the person who showed us to the room was pleasant.

Review 12:No long mirror in the room. Council Parking restrictions in the car park right outside the hotel. Waking up at 6am to pay for parking is ridiculous - this is not the hotels fault

Review 13:Great room. Loved the little touches - bottle of water, slippers, amenities kit

Review 14:The only reason I score lower on value for money is that there were hotel rooms available further away in Swindon which were £5 cheaper - but it would have cost £5 in a cab to get to them, and I preferred to stay in walking distance of the station.

Review 15:It was just what I needed for an overnight stay before a meeting - coming in mid evening by train and ready for an early meeting nearby the next day, and there were plenty of easy food options close by.

Review 16:There was a leak in the bathroom and although I informed the pub reception desk, no one was sent. The leak was so bad that a large part of the carpet in the bedroom was soaking wet. The shower unit was also broken. The price is too high for the limited facilities provided.

Review 17:The location in the city centre was good albeit a little hard to find and the room was clean which wasn't a surprise as it has only recently been converted.

Review 18:Wi-fi promised but not available in the room. Only available in the bar next door. The bar was not open in the morning so no wif fi then when we needed it most.

Review 19:Big room. Nice shower. Clean.

Review 20:We had to pay for car parking, which £2 overnight was a fair price, although it was 6pm-6am so we had to get up at 6am bith days we were there to top up the machine which was a huge inconvenience! Also there was dust and dirt in the cups and mugs that were provided for tea in the room so I think cleanliness wasn't really great. Also it's quite loud and you can hear people's conversations and creaky floorboards within the building whilst you're trying to relax.

Review 21:The staff were really helpful and friendly and it was a decent place

Review 22:Obviously just started so no breakfast possibility. However there are other options available in just a few minutes walk. Difficult to find a parking place.

Review 23:Nice small place in a heart of the city.

Review 24:Early departure of 10:30.. I like my lay ins. But they were nice to let us stay an extra hour.

Review 25:Right in the heart of town with your bars and clubs. Use this place if there are a few of you going out to Swindon Town for the night life or maybe for a bit of shopping. Literally the side entrance is just outside the door of the shopping centre. Clean cheeky room which you can't go wrong with.

Review 26:Only 1 issue we had to pay £48 for single room when i was told on the the phone £25 because somebody pulled out and i downgraded from a double room down to a single apart from that everything pefect

Review 27:Checking in a pub next door not ideal, and if you are checking out early there is nowhere to leave the keys as the pub is closed. When paying I was instructed that the card machine does not work, with no apology and a walk into town to find a bank before I could check in. Due to the low floor and adjacent car park it was pretty noisy!

Review 28:Toiletries and tea/coffee making facilities very good.

Review 29:First this isn't a "B&B": it doesn't provide breakfast. Second, security is poor: it's in a fringe area, the outer door didn't easily lock, and there was no-one on site. Third, the room was badly designed with poor facilities: no desk or dressing table, no mirror. Fourth, lots of concerns about cleanliness, like smelly toilet.

Review 30:Not much. Recently decorated.

Review 31:Firstly the address was non existent and we had a hard time looking for the place! Called the telephone number and there was no answer. Finally after many tries someone answered to give direction . We had to correct key from the pub next door. The toilet was not cleaned when we checked in.The radiator was so noisy the whole night! Worst of all there is totally no security at all. The door faced the main road and anyone can break into the room easily!

Review 32:Nothing!

Review 33:I appreciated having a ground floor room and the amenities provided. Although there was no breakfast option the nearby Wetherspoons was very conveniently located. The room itself was nicely decorated and well appointed.

Review 34:No complaints.

Review 35:Lovely facilities room was clean and looked after even had all the extra's you would normally expect in a expensive hotel. Was made very welcome and enjoyed the company of the local residence. Will certainly stay again.

Review 36:No power there it's attached to a pub but didn't state this when booking! Wouldn't give refund even though I wasn't happy! Staff are not professional at all! Eventually gave me just £28 back as refund and then told booking.com they gave me a full refund which would of been £48! Just really badly run hotel!!

Review 37:Nothing at all!!!

Review 38:It doesnt't look like a hotel: it's a house in a backstreet, surrounded by parking lots, definitely the opposite to pretty. I wouldn't say it's dangerous at all, it just looks rough. As it does the whole city, anyway. Swindon is probably the less attractive city I've ever visited (to say it soft).

Review 39:The place itself, the little building with the four rooms. Everything inside is good: very clean, very comfortable, new, modern, highly recommended. Good deal to stay as a base to explore the surroundings.

Review 40:Half-height wardrobe not deep enough to hang a shirt and close the door - and had to ask for hangers! Extractor fan not working and not repaired all week - just given flimsy excuses instead. Noisy plumbing every time another guest turns a tap on or uses the loo.

Review 41:Convenient location.

Review 42:There is no reception - an outside street door from a car-park and bin area which then leads to the small rooms. This street door lock was faulty so traveller left it un-locked. No feeling of safety sadly so a pretty awful experience...

Review 43:Room was clean and super accessories - nice and modern

Review 44:There are no slippers. Walls are very thin so it was quite noisy in the morning and at night. Could not check out at 10 am because there was no staff working in the morning.

Review 45:Clean toilet and shower. Great location. Lovely staff and pub next door. Strong heaters and continuous hot water during shower.

Review 46:Very thin walls and ceilings... Woken up by other guests early in the morning. I could hear walking across creaking floor, front door slamming and loud water noise as well as the conversation in the next room.

Review 47:Well appointed clean and new.

Review 48:Room was very nice and clean, there was a kettle, tea bags, coffee bags, sugar, biscuits, enough of towels, shampoos, conditioner and other things which makes spending a time there easier.

Review 49:No reception, and as a single female traveller was not keen on a ground floor room. Also other guest were smoking in the small entrance hall with the front door open late at night and early morning which was disturbing. The sound proofing is very poor, plus all the piping and water pipes are noisy. Did not get much sleep!

Review 50:Comfy bed, new shower facilities

Review 51:a stool and a little table was missing and too much woodlouse on the ground. Parking is problematic. WLAN only in the noisy pub

Review 52:bed and shower very good

Review 53:Finding the place , in the dark, in the rain with no sat nav, in a city I had never been to before, which seemed to have only one way streets was a complete nightmere.

Review 54:hair dryer and slippers

Review 55:Lovely little place slap bang in the middle of town. Small but comfy and surprisingly quiet. Considering the price it was great, would stay again

Review 56:Too cramped, leaking toilet, over priced, only window was a skylight.

Review 57:Comfortable bed, good location is

Review 58:Steep stairs, no front desk

Review 59:Good location

Review 60:Staff not aware of booking. When shown also wanted confirmation of payment

Review 61:No parking

Review 62:No private parking but then it's in centre of town , plenty parking around but it does cost

Review 63:Can hear people in other rooms.

Review 64:Welcoming, friendly staff. Compact but has everything you need.

Review 65:No WiFi. Walls are VERY THIN

Review 66:Room was small but decent. Had everything you need. Bed was comfortable

Review 67:Noise

Review 68:Room

Review 69:The sky light had no covers so it was very bright in the morning

Review 70:The bed was so comfortable!!! Lovely place to stay!

Review 71:Cost £15 a night more than a nice local B&B Where they gave breakfast too.

Review 72:Location next to pub not ideal, in for a very noisy night. Hard to find and harder to park!

Review 73:Car parking hours not convenient

Review 74:Easy tp use/ Cemtral

Review 75:No wifi access, pubic hair in bed, hand towels rather than towels and no milk. Bed hard.

Review 76:staff member was friendly

Review 77:The room was spacious and clean. Really well presented I would stay here again

Review 78:The well appointed room with everything you could want including hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers,

Review 79:Took a while to find it and Swindon council have stupid parking policies.

Review 80:Really comfortable bed

Review 81:Noise from pub

Review 82:Hard to find the counter check in

Review 83:Decor and comfort

Review 84:No towels available for bathroom

Review 85:Nice room and convenience for central location

Review 86:Comfy bed and lovely en suite shower
