Reviews for Buckingham Hotel

Review 1:It did what it said on the tin. Provided a night's accommodation at a reasonable price. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was very clean, warm and comfortable. Shower was very good and towels were spotless.

Review 2:The attic room I stayed in had walls sloping in so felt a bit confining.

Review 3:Clean, very good repair and decorative order, free Wi-Fi and excellent breakfast!

Review 4:Room was very small, bed was knackered, the window was not sealing properly so we could hear the traffic and noises outside, also very noisey inside people up and down stairs in and out. Full English? I don't think so, ok if you like big sausages and hard Bacon.

Review 5:The genius price was reasonable inc breakfast

Review 6:Quite steep stairs.

Review 7:Clean, comfortable and above all excellent value for money. Nice large tv and good sized shower room. Free parking and wifi a real bonus in a budget hotel.

Review 8:My television wouldn't turn off in the middle of the night. I couldn't change channel or mute the sound.

Review 9:The beds were very comfortable. Check-in hours were generous. It was good value for money.

Review 10:Standard of presentation could be improved in terms of decor, but this is a very minor point

Review 11:Staff were friendly and professional. The food was excellent and plenty of it. Excellent value for money all round

Review 12:Parking difficult to find, reception clerk very unhelpful. Steep walk from car park with heavy luggage in dark to reception. After payment (instructed by said unfriendly clerk) to walk (carrying heavy bags) to another destination in another building up steep flight of stairs) This was then changed to first floor of that building so another trek. No windows. No view. No security lock on the door.

Review 13:Double room with shower. Microwave, fridge. Clean linen. Easy to find

Review 14:Mold in my room behind bed and near fridge, beds quite hard, sockets didn't work and they increased the price for the second night from £161 to £221.

Review 15:good bathrooms and showers

Review 16:Noisy - cars outside and voices early morning Saturday. Noise also from other rooms. I had earplugs so slept pretty well!

Review 17:Very affordable and where I needed to be

Review 18:Working in and around the London area this hotel offered excellent value. Just off the M40 made it very convenient. I found the rooms comfy and well equipped, there is free parking and wi fi. A commercial hotel rather than one for a weekend break but I couldnt fault it. The room rate that I paid was brilliant.

Review 19:It was noisy, smelly, badly insolated, very small, with not much place to place your luggage or your clothing. Only 1 hanger, the room is VERY small.

Review 20:it was close to where I was attending the business. The staff was really nice

Review 21:mould in bathroom.very noisy hotel.lots of road noise impossible to sleep as rooms were not sound proofed.noise from lorries. hotel did not do food for dinner time. had to get a takeaway.booked hotel for 3 nights but left after 1 night we had enough didn't even have breakfast and left at 7 am.

Review 22:close to where we needed to stay .the staff were friendly.

Review 23:Just a couple of minor points: parking was a little awkward on the first night of our stay as we went out and were not back till late; also, the bedroom could have done with a bedside light - it was either the main light or nothing!

Review 24:The room was simple yet functional with a modern en suite shower room. It was very clean, the staff were pleasant and helpful, free Wi-Fi was okay, breakfast was fine and free parking was available on site. We didn't require anything fancy and this had everything we needed and was very reasonably priced for our short 2 night stay.

Review 25:Parking can be a bit of pot luck, with vans often blocking entrance way

Review 26:Staff always friendly, rooms are clean and comfortable if a bit small. Good quality bathrooms too.

Review 27:Overhead Lighting unsubtle in rooms..side lights? Very steep stairs to 2nd floor unsuitable for disabled

Review 28:Clean: own parking places: breakfast reasonable

Review 29:Room too cold , I asked to turn on the heater but did not. Not given enough towels . They do not have any information in the room. no phone in the room so we cant contact the reception . It was the first and last time .

Review 30:Don't have a bad word to say.

Review 31:Everything the room was nice and clean staff where great and helpful and I'm planning to stay there in the future

Review 32:No hand towels in the en suites. Very noisy extractor fan next door in the upstairs single room.

Review 33:Very comfortable, quiet, twin room at the back of the building on the ground floor, with on site parking, a fridge in the room as well as tea & coffee making facilities. Very accommodating staff who allowed me to book in early as I was moving to a single room for a second night. Equally nice spacious single room and en suite upstairs.

Review 34:Nothing as such

Review 35:Great value of money. Attic room though but had everything in room, fridge, tv, oven, sink, ensuite shower and vantilated room. What else u need at this price?

Review 36:For all the room included a microwave and fridge so you could cook mealsthere was no teatowel to dry dishes, each day I had to go and ask atReception for a hand-towel for the bathroom as they only supplied onebath towel even though in the bathroom there is a place for a handtowel, the bathroom looks newly re-furbished but has two streaks of paint onthe bathroom wall tiles, base of bed near floor is marked and stainedand looks disgusting (took photos) a valance sheet under mattress wouldat least hide it if they can't supply a new double base. I stayed inRoom 3 in the Annexe next door, traffic very loud even though roomnearly at back of hotel, tv very loud of other guests even aftermidnight. Worse thing I found un-nerving was on the Saturday night theFire Alarms were going off about 7-7.30pm so I grabbed my key card andleft the room to evacuate the building but at first I seemed to be theonly one then another three people came outside...but no staff memberarrived...I Went down the steps across to Reception in main part ofhotel and it was silent no ALARMS..the member of staff asked if he couldhelp me!!!! I told him that the Fire Alarms were going off in ourbuilding, he casually sauntered over to the Annexe, looked at the Fireboard and said Oh someone must have burnt their food in the microwaveagain it happened twice last week!!!! He didn't even go up thestairs to check...my concern is the fact that they weren't aware theFire Alarms had even gone off...surely they should be connected somehoweven if its just a flashing light to let them know...that Annexe hasfamily rooms in it...after reading other reviews especially been sent afew doors down to other buildings I would be very dubious whether tostay again unless there was a guarantee I could stay in the Annexeadjoined to the main hotel (Annexe is right hand side as you look at thefront of the hotel).

Review 37:Stayed for 3 nights, room good size for one person. Looked good at firstglance and good that it included a fridge and a microwave. Bathroomlovely. Cleaned each day.

Review 38:The breakfast was a bit greasy but okay and reflected the price. Wouldn't have minded paying a bit more for more choice.

Review 39:Very clean and comfortable room. Free parking. Staff polite

Review 40:Was very nosey, other peaple staying in other rooms were nosey and banging about,me and my child had no sleep, the bathroom was dirty, room very stuffy and small.

Review 41:Bathroom light was on auto timer and was annoying at night if you gotup., Took a while to go off.

Review 42:Hotel was nicely situated, just outside of town and close to majorroutes. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was ok but not the best. Price wasincredible. Would stay again.

Review 43:A dreary place decor wise and no place to sit outside. The breakfast was not good and the breakfast room really drab

Review 44:The bathroom was ok. Wi-fi worked fine

Review 45:Bedside lamp not bright enough to read by. Requested iron and ironing board which were brought to room promptly. Unfortunately the iron was faulty and didn't heat up enough to work.

Review 46:Very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Nothing too much trouble. Location short walk from town centre. Good value for money charged.

Review 47:The reception claimed that our cards - one Visa, one Mastercard - did not work, even though the machine stated that there was no connection. We suggested that this could be solved the next morning, but the clerck insisted that we go down to the cashpoint on a nearby petrol station - at 11 o'clock at night! The "cash only" approach made me feel like a participant in a black economy...

Review 48:The desk clerck helped us upstairs with the luggage.

Review 49:Room faced road, hot night, road noise kept me awake with windows open. Shower doors a bit weird (easy to get in, hard to get out when the movement controlled light goes off!). Key drop facility could've been easier - had to phone to have door opened at 0500 when I needed to leave.

Review 50:Room was plenty big enough for me. kettle and tv worked. shower very good and hot. I didn't need the fridge/microwave/sink but I would use this place again and would come prepared..

Review 51:Rooms were generally quite small. My room was quite loud in the morning. Think it was above the kitchen. Breakfast was good, although a little haphazard.

Review 52:Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Review 53:Minor issues - Could have done with a bath mat. No cloths hangers.

Review 54:cute, clean and good value for very money. Just right for overnight/short stays.

Review 55:Not a bad experience. Just think it should be made clearer about their deposits. We had to pay 100 pounds incase of any damages. But i did not see this on the website. If we did not have the money - we would have been stuck.

Review 56:The room had a kitchenette, but only one plate, knife and teaspoon were supplied! The room (No. 1) was also very small which was not obvious looking at the photographs. The bed was up against the wall on one side and only had very limited access on the other. There was also only one towel supplied and we had to request another.

Review 57:Cleanliness of the room. Security 10 Minute walk into town

Review 58:Shower cubicle too small and without anywhere to put the soap and shampoo etc during shower. Light not working in shower. Hotel is difficult to spot when you drive and it is extremely difficult to find the entry to the carpark.

Review 59:Friendly staff (Harry) very helpful and efficient.

Review 60:Not in the best part of town but the proprietors are certainly making every effort to make your stay a good experience.

Review 61:The attitude of the staff is very helpful, the accommodation has recently been completely renovated to a high standard of finish. Very good English breakfast. Plenty of parking.

Review 62:After travelling from Loch Ness through Scotland and into England, this was one of the worst stays, and we would not return. The room given was offsite, and so inconvenient. The pillows were hard and the breakfast was terrible. I would avoid and stay in a nicer town if possible. Sorry!

Review 63:Not much. The reception staff were friendly.

Review 64:Everything. Worst hotel out of the 133 i've stayed at over the past two years.

Review 65:Bad parking, (as in 4 spots for 30 rooms), twice the prices as equivalent hotels. People were friendly but they should be when you're robbing someone. And this is the BEST part of the experience.

Review 66:It was quiet and relaxing and I actually got a good night's kip! It was my first time staying overnight in a hotel on my own and really felt comfortable and safe there. Plus, the manager there is such a welcoming and nice guy.

Review 67:I left a note on the website to see if they could provide soya milk however I think this was overlooked but not a problem there was a shop up the road.

Review 68:The staff where really helpful we stayed an extra night they gave us fresh towels and bedding. This isn't the ritz obviously. The rooms have a fridge and microwave in them or at least ours did.

Review 69:Staff fairly indifferent, overcooked basic cooked breakfast. Poor organisation.

Review 70:Very clean. New room/bathroom fittings but cheap stuff that will fall apart in 1-2 years.

Review 71:Seeing a bus full of tourists arrive, none of them were happy with the rooms. I think it should be made clear these are small, sparse, workers rooms, not luxury hotel or cosy B&B rooms.

Review 72:These workers rooms are reasonable value for money.

Review 73:Need more then 1 pillow , but I'm sure they will sort if needed.

Review 74:Very clean rooms above standards and accommodating with TV and free wifi. Helpful staff . Pleasant stay.

Review 75:Contained only bed, small table and couple of hangers. Was told to be 60% discount but was costly even for the price paid. Can only be useful for single or max couple. No family or friends. Also hotel timing for checkin was 3 pm and checkout was 10.30 am.

Review 76:Clean - appears to be newly built. Decent bed and clean shower room.

Review 77:Shower valve was broken so I could only have a cold shower. When I informed the staff in the morning they were very apologetic & I'm certain genuinely surprised. Ah, well, these things happen.

Review 78:Very clean & comfortable, staff pleasant & good breakfast

Review 79:The room was a bit on the small size for a double

Review 80:Liked not having to pay extra for my dogs & being in the annex it was lovely having a fridge & microwave in the room

Review 81:The noise from the road . No blind in the bathroom . Not enough parking . Shabby/ ripped chairs in the dinning room . Disgusting cheap sausages for breakfast.

Review 82:It was clean , it was central .

Review 83:I was a bit put off by the quality of breakfast, although this is extra and does not have to be had, it was cooked by the girl who was cleaning and I asked for tomato instead of beans but still got no beans. Not particularly ready to cater for people with dietary requirements. Breakfast therefore not worth the money.

Review 84:The hotel is easy to find, extremely good value for money and is very modern! There is excellent security throughout and the staff are very friendly.

Review 85:The room was cold as a fanlight window had been left open - no heating Reception area small and unimpressive No extra blankets or duvet to warm up with Container holding tea, coffee, milk very tacky and scruffy, with no biscuits No bath mat Breakfast room very cold, severe, lacking atmosphere with no place mats, or decent cutlery. No espresso or proper filter coffee served. Tea arrived with a teabag dunked in a cup. No brown bread toast available Presentation of English breakfast fair, but the mushrooms were mushy and too finely sliced. Order taken by kitchen hand/cook in scruffy dirty apron Breakfast price overpriced The hotel's name could barely be seen in the dark: blue lights rather garish. Get light to shine onto nameboard.

Review 86:Lovely room and bathroom facilities, together with TV. Linen white, crisp and clean

Review 87:Shower difficult, room up 3 flights of stairs, no one around by 10.00 PM. Breakfast ok (need to improve the poached eggs!)

Review 88:Nice staff, nice room, comfy bed.

Review 89:there are just one or two things we would mention. 1. Need one table lamp on bedside table in between beds. 2. Need large towel rail - this could go on the en suite door. 3. Need shelf around sink in ensuite with place to put toothbrushes etc 4. Need two or three hangers in the wardrobe.

Review 90:Lovely to see the refurbishment. Staff were very friendly and everything was nice and clean.

Review 91:My pillow was right next to the boxed in drain for the room/rooms above, so every time the bathroom was used you were woken up with it flushing past your head. Which was very irritating early morning.

Review 92:Very clean and was just right for a one nighter.

Review 93:Parking was a problem. There were limited spaces outside the hotel and were on a slope - good handbrake needed! There were spaces at the back but these were unlit and did not not look secure. I parked on the main road on one of the nights I stayed. There was no shelf in the shower to put toiletries on. I had a fried egg as part of my breakfast which appeared to have been cooked earlier, but I cannot confirm this.

Review 94:Staff were very friendly. Room was what was expected and also included a fridge. Free WiFi was useful.

Review 95:Floorboards 'creaked' on all floors especially bathroom making sleep difficult until all guests had settled. Room was too hot. Breakfast area was adequate but in need of improvement.

Review 96:Good location. All staff were friendly and helpful. Room was well presented and facilities provided (tea/coffee and fridge) were useful.

Review 97:Not enough well lit parking, uncomfortable bed and pillows, shower head broken (stuck on 'massage' function and only 3 jets of water come out)

Review 98:Clean, staff friendly

Review 99:The hotel itself is not at all soundproof. I could hear everyone coming in and out of the reception door, and at around midnight an almighty crash (sounded like a wardrobe falling over) woke me up. There was also building work which, in fairness, stopped at around 6pm but continued again at around 7:30 in the morning. Very loud and constant banging- I was very tired for my long day/evening of meetings in London!

Review 100:The staff on reception were friendly and greeted me warmly.

Review 101:Need some shelves in showers to put soap on also I had no hair dryer bed hard pillows to thin, was woken up on Sunday morning at 8am by scaffolding company taken it down was only happy about that

Review 102:Most things ok

Review 103:the room we stayed in was too small for what ti was billed as. the bed itself was a double but fitted into a single as one side was up against the wall making it hard for me and my fiancee to sleep also the water wasnt working correctly having no hot water was a major issue for myself as i have a fear of water that comes out more with cold water and the facilities we had was only producing cold water. finally when we arrived on the day we was to take control of the room we found our request had not really be read up and we had to remind the hotel we needed more pillows and towels as there was only 1 towel in the room for 2 people

Review 104:it was a reasonably priced hotel for a weekend stay the location was on the central road into town making it easy for us to do the necessary things we had to do in high wycombe

Review 105:There is extensive building work occurring at present and I found it extremely noisy - just couldn't sleep even with ear plugs in. I felt sleep deprived as I work at night.

Review 106:I stay regularly at this hotel. The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful. The rooms are adequate with fridge,tea/coffee making facility, good end suite shower and toilet ,complementary toiletries and parking. You can have a full English breakfast cook to your suiting.

Review 107:The only criticism would be that it could do with a coat of paint and the bases and headboards on the beds could do with a good clean.

Review 108:We didn't stay in the main hotel we stayed in one of their two bed apartments. It had plenty of room and was well equipped. The bathroom was lovely and clean. The view was stunning and there was off road parking. I would definitely be happy to return to this hotel.

Review 109:No lift and lots of stairs. Lack of staffs local knowledge

Review 110:Location we were using the hotel as a staging post for Heathrow airport. The position was excellent.

Review 111:Needed 2 pillows as the one I had was far too thin. And need good tea bags in room as the one's that were there were not nice. Also need something attached to the door's to stop them banging. But I would stay again.

Review 112:Staff were lovely. Breakfast was very good. Very Clean + Comfortable.

Review 113:The reception was unattended at times

Review 114:Practical with microwave in room and access to do laundry. Extremely good value for money

Review 115:Friendly staff and location

Review 116:Plenty sockets for charging & socket near mirror for hairdryer & straighteners. No quibbles when asked for extra milk. Good shower.

Review 117:This small hotel is ideal for a short overnight stay.

Review 118:All good

Review 119:Excellent value

Review 120:Nowhere to put anything down in the bathroom. No fruit available at breakfast.

Review 121:Comfortable bed gave us a good nights sleep.

Review 122:No bedside table, little hanging space and really needs a shelf in bathroom or shower

Review 123:Clean and Modern

Review 124:No bedside cabinet on one side of the double. Lamps needed as lighting harsh.

Review 125:Shower.

Review 126:Service, quality of bed, comfort, no windows/heating/aircon in the room. Jails would be better

Review 127:Nothing

Review 128:Very clean, friendly staff

Review 129:Stairs are a problem with lots of luggage.

Review 130:Room was clean and tidy, though a little small.

Review 131:My room was in the loft space so kept bumping my head! Also had a smell of stale cigarettes

Review 132:I could park right outside for free!

Review 133:Greasy cooked breakfast in dreary room with moderate service.

Review 134:Clean and good value, new fittings in rooms. Good for access to town centre.

Review 135:Always give me ground floor room as requested. Nice area to run dogs at back of hotel. Annexe where we stay has brilliant facilities

Review 136:Noisy fridge in room. Finding the Abbey rd location

Review 137:clean comfy and affordable.

Review 138:Cups were dirty/dusty in hotel room.

Review 139:Comfort
