Reviews for Hôtel Terminus
Review 1:Convenient to the station. Close to town and the old town, Lovely environment not just a boring hotel. Good value and lovely staff. Takes you back to a wonderful bygone era. Loved my stay.
Review 2:Hotel was located right near train station and a short walk to historic centre. The rooms have old school furnishings. Clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful.
Review 3:This hotel was just a short walk from the railway station, about ten minutes' walk from Pont Valentre and less than twenty minutes' walk from the central area. Excellent friendly service from all and dinner in the restaurant was fabulous.
Review 4:The staff were very helpful, even came out to assist us in parking at the hotel car park. Dinner was a real treat, the maitre d' recommended a local wine at a very reasonable price. One of the best meals for a long while.
Review 5:Bad experience: the external stairs down to car park are dangerous in the dark. SWe had to leave before it was light. I fell down these stairs, bruising my ribs (which are still sore 10 days later) and skinning my knee. Luckily nothing was broken but it could have been much worse. The subsequent journey home was rather uncomfortable. Recommend: better external lighting.
Review 6:Central location (but hard to find). Receptionist helpful and friendly.
Review 7:Lovely hotel owned by the same family since early 20thC. A classic building. Lovely owners and staff, great restaurant, close to car hire and railway station, free carparking. Comfortable and friendly.
Review 8:The bathroom
Review 9:The staff were lovely, the breakfast good. However the room was very tired and the bathroom poor, the toilet rim was dirty and mild around joins in shower off putting. The bed linen was very tired.
Review 10:Shower was bath tube without any curtains and without place to fix the shower head. Taking a shower resulted in splashing water everywhere. We could hear the trains departing from the nearby train station.
Review 11:Hotel is old building providing a cute ambiance. Decent place, clean.
Review 12:We stayed twice to bookend a two week boat trip on the Lot river. The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make us welcome and to provide service. They were very friendly and helpful. After locating a service in Cahors for us and us then finding we couldn't get in they rang us a hour later to say they had located an alternative, after hours on a Friday night and booked us in. Fabulous. They are the jewel in the crown of this aged but wonderful and dignified little hotel. We ate at the restaurant on one occasion and it is worth doing. Once again the staff were excellent and the food fresh, tasty and local.
Review 13:Loathe to say anything negative but one wouldn't want to bring a big vehicle into the car park. Go to ground floor to use WiFi.
Review 14:Such a lovely old building - retaining the original decor & ambience, staff delightful & just a short walk to centre of the lovely market town of Cahors & its charming church.
Review 15:The low dormer ceilings were inconvenient and could be dangerous if you are more than 5'9". There were no drawers or hanging space and the light above the bed was out and never fixed.
Review 16:Close to the train station and friendly staff.
Review 17:Breakfast while sufficient, old fashioned continental style.
Review 18:Great room on the top floor with a private little terrace. Very friendly staff especially in the dining room where we had a fantastic dinner. Even managed off-road parking at the hotel. Best bathroom products of our trip
Review 19:Reception staff brusque and not helpful. Dismissive of questions about choice at breakfast and appeared not to have time to help. Lot of traffic noise in room.
Review 20:Very good waiting staff and French evening meal. Very good breakfast staff. Hotel building superb design - Victorian style.
Review 21:Do not accept room 16 if the weather is hot. It is an attic room and extremely hot even with the feeble air con. Badly in need of a total refurbishment. The fake floor boards are peeling and not good to walk on. The bathroom is a good size with a miniscule shower. The shutters need a paint and won't stay open, so the room is very dark.
Review 22:The location was the best point. Nice looking hotel and fairly quiet but.....
Review 23:The room was a bit old and not furnished with taste even if it was quite big The bathtub was dirty
Review 24:The restaurant has good menus although a bit expensive for the quality of the food The staff was nice especially in the morning
Review 25:The location of the hotel, very near the rail station, is very convenient. The staff were extremely helpful to us in organizing baggage transfer during our walk along the pilgrims way. The hotel building is characterful
Review 26:This was the perfect place for our visit to Cahors. Large and comfortable well-appointed room and a most welcome bathtub in the bathroom. Nicely decorated in a pleasantly old-fashioned style. A delicious breakfast at an affordable price. Unbfotunately, the restaurant was closed on the days we were there, but the personnel were helpful with several good recommendations for dinner. Located in a quiet street about 10 minutes walk from the old city and the shopping district along the Boulevard, with free parking either at the hotel itself (a limited number of spaces) or on the street nearby. Cahors itself is a pleasant and a lively town, with a fascinating old city. A place to return to: both the city and the hotel.
Review 27:WiFi did not reach our room -- Room 6 on the 2nd Floor. I had a few important emails to send so had to sit next to the elevator to get that done. I would have liked to do some research on the city that night in advance of our sightseeing the next morning, but did not feel like doing that in the hallway. The bed was not great -- time for a new mattress! Bathrooms are updated and roomy.
Review 28:The restaurant is wonderful for dinner -- although it is a pricey. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Review 29:Absolutely nothing is wrong with this hotel. Would highly recommend a stay and meal.
Review 30:The lady on reception was so friendly and knowledgable. The hotel had so many original features, so rare now. The stained glass windows throughout and ornate radiators. The hotel restaurant was exceptional for fine dining.
Review 31:Stayed one night with teenage sons. Connecting rooms were spacious and comfortable. Air conditioning was very welcome as it was 38 degrees when we arrived. Hotel Terminus is just a few minutes walk to the Resistance museum (a must see) where we discovered the interesting role of Cahors residents and even the hotel itself during WWII. Hotel staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Eating breakfast on the sunny terrace was a bonus.
Review 32:The hotel is an early 1900's building near the station, but quiet. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The room was large and well appointed. I really liked the idea of having breakfast on the terrace, when I read a comment from another guest on booking.com, but in France the risk of someone smoking over my food was too high, so we were restricted to eatng in the dining room, which was lovely, but it would be nice to have the chance to eat out in the summer. My husband left his glasses in the room and the staff contacted us to arrange postage, very kind and thoughtful.
Review 33:Loved the ambience of this lovely old Hotel. Room was spacious and had a big deep bath. Celebrated my birthday by dining in and was very happy with the meal, despite the 'difficulty' of being a vegetarian in meat-loving France! Staff very obliging in storing our 2 bicycles in the garage
Review 34:We enjoyed this hotel very much. Close to the terminal was perfect for us since we carried heavy backpacks. Close to the bridge but a bit of a walk to the older streets of Cahors. All is easily walkable though in the town of Cahors. Staff was friendly and we really enjoyed the meal at the attached restaurant!
Review 35:Breakfast could have benefitted from an option of some fruit, cheese or even a yogurt!!
Review 36:Charm, comfort, location, service When I left an item of clothing behind, they contacted me and even though I told them to dispose of it, they insisted on posting it to Ireland - for free!!
Review 37:Leaking air con, few plugs for work computer
Review 38:Gorgeous bathroom (room 10), windows beautiful and scenic, delicious breakfast on terrace. stained glass, wooden furniture, walk to train station
Review 39:I do not like beds with footboards and if you are hungry the dinner portions are small.
Review 40:The staff was super and the public rooms were comfortable. Breakfast on the terrace was pleasant. The furnishings were fun with the ambience of a Poirot story.
Review 41:The shower facilities are completely inadequate. There was only a hand shower without even a hook on the wall. It was very awkward to use and I splashed the entire bathroom, including my toilet articles.
Review 42:I needed a snack for the train and the staff prepared something very nice. The restaurant was closed during my stay but I understand that it is excellent. It is very convenient to the train station and a short walk to the center of town.
Review 43:Wifi reception as good as zero in the room. Room could do with a bit of modernising. Lack of space to store your things. Hotel uses old thick blankets in combination with linen bedsheets instead of duvets and duvet covers which is more hygienic.
Review 44:The appearance and entire atmosphere of the hotel. Friendly staff. Free parking in front.
Review 45:This was our second visit to the hotel - just as good as the previous stay six months ago. Exceptionally nice staff; great location and free parking; comfortable clean room with air conditioning. Great value for money in the centre of Cahors.
Review 46:The owners have attempted to 'modernise' the hotel by fitting laminate floors and leather furniture which is out of keeping with a lovely 19th century building. We opted out of the breakfast as it seemed expensive at 10 euro for continental, and for anything else we had to choose which breakfast items we wanted and pay accordingly for each.
Review 47:The air conditioning and bath. Staff friendly.
Review 48:The bed wasn't very comfortable, and the shower cubicle was a bit grotty.
Review 49:It was a quirky old building; the public rooms looked very nice. Unfortunately the restaurant was shut while we were there. The decoration in our room, while small, was quite nice.
Review 50:Breakfast is not buffet, and it is bare minimum. Bread plus confiture, coffee/tea, one small glass of juice, tiny cup of yogurt, and this cost 10 EUR. Worst breakfast I ever had in any hotel.
Review 51:Convenient location from the train station, friendly staff.
Review 52:a bit to shabby chic, no shower curtail to bath, taps loose, rather noisy with windows open as near the railway terminal
Review 53:Free parking but a bit tight, location to town ok, building has character
Review 54:shower head doesn't attach to wall, have to hold it (awkward) or sit down to shower
Review 55:very warm welcome (despite turning up late and in sweaty cycling gear), garage to store bikes in, bed firm but comfy, plenty of hot water with good pressure, classic style taps and radiators
Review 56:We could not have been closer to the railway station, and the two hire car companies in Cahors. A quaint old place, like something out of a movie. Unfortunately the famous restaurant was closed the night we were there, but the staff directed us to an excellent auberge in the old quarter.
Review 57:We appreciated that it was close to the train station, that we had a bright room with a good bathroom and that they stored our bags while we walked around Cahors before our train back to Paris.
Review 58:Found the bed quite hard.
Review 59:The hotel is ideally situated to explore the town on foot. Great restaurant and excellent, attentive staff throughout. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Review 60:Small shower with cheap fitting made it difficult to have a good shower. Bathroom is big so no apparent reason for claustrophobic shower.
Review 61:Architecture and decor. Location within walking distance of main street Cahors. Easy parking in street. Warm welcome. Excellent French breakfast.
Review 62:Nothing.
Review 63:Location very convenient with free parking (hard to find in central Cahors). Lovely hotel with friendly staff. Comfortable warm room. No complaints.
Review 64:The restaurant is absolutely first-rate, the decor is thoughtful and in keeping with both a venerable, famous hotel and with contemporary tastes; the staff is friendly and very competent.
Review 65:Nothing of significance.
Review 66:Staff were solicitous of our well being. Famous for its cuisine and wine cellar, both of which exceeded our expectations, we will definitely go back.
Review 67:An aging hotel which while quaint is in need of a refurb.
Review 68:Location near the rail station with good free parking Extremely polite and friendly staff Excellent restaurant with an amazing wine list Clean rooms
Review 69:Train station is close so light sleepers might notice the odd train going past although I had a room facing the station and didn't find noise to be a problem as the windows are double glazed.
Review 70:Hotel was within easy walking distance of the town centre and the historic sites. Staff very friendly and helpful and are more than happy to rexomend places to eat, drink and visit. Restaurant is not cheap but its first class - run by a top regional chef partnership... Double rooms are large and bathrooms are relatively well appointed. All told a good location from which to explore Cahors and the surrounding area as the train station is across the road.
Review 71:Essentially nothing.
Review 72:very clean, comfortable hotel, friendly staff, well worth staying there. Hotel is popular with retired couples both English and French. Just across the road from the railway station.
Review 73:We arrived in need of medical assistance and the hotel staff really came through for us. They really made the difference! And the hotel and it's restaurant are a real find, don't tell anyone what an excellent meal you are offered here! All together, our trip, which was in real danger of unravelling, was put together again. We will return! Thank you to the kind people at the Terminus for everything.
Review 74:a lack of Cassoulet in Cahors !!!
Review 75:Tranquility Location Food Wine The Wine List:which has to be seen to be believed. Staff ( especially the Sommelier ) Gin and Tonics on the Terrace in the evening sun.
Review 76:We had dinner in the restaurant and expected something exceptional and it did not overly impress. We had a set menu to try local foods, the main was good but entrees and cheese disappointing
Review 77:Staff went out of their way to help us with forward bookings as well as an early breakfast
Review 78:A bit spotty on the wi-fi in the room
Review 79:Our hostess upon check in was very kind and accomodating. We enjoyed visiting Cahors and would love to go back when we can stay longer. We will definitely stay at this hotel.
Review 80:The rooms lacked facilities, room bar ws expensive as was breakfast. The restaurant was probably very good but little choice and too expensive for us.
Review 81:The hotel was very nice, very 'French' with free parking outside.
Review 82:There was nothing that we didn't like about this hotel.
Review 83:The hotel is charming, is comfortable and well maintained. The room that we stayed in was large, airy and clean. Although we didn't dine in the restaurant, we did enjoy drinks on the terrace, which were served with a degree of style and panache that I have not seen for some time. My €12 Armagnac turned out to be surprisingly good value! We also appreciated the fact that this hotel welcomed our small dog.
Review 84:The breakfast menu was confusing and could be clearer Car parking is not easy
Review 85:Staff friendliness Comfortable room with en-suite Cahors is a lovely town Beautiful region (Lot Valley)
Review 86:Nothing
Review 87:The hotel is well furnished and decorated with imagination. There is pride in the staff for where they work. Dinner in the Restaurant was probably one of the best meals I have had in France in 25 years
Review 88:- parking is too small - the city of cahors looks a little bit too dirty (especially in the oldest part)
Review 89:- staff - hotel is very particular cause was built in the 20's and keeps most of that atmosphere.
Review 90:Think Bates Motel in Psycho or 50's Boarding House. Avoid Room 22. Gloomy, tacky and dingy. I am astonished at some of it's reviews, so inaccurate! One redeeming factor, it is near the station for a quick getaway!
Review 91:Restaurant meals expensive if staying for longer periods. Trek necessary into town for alternatives.
Review 92:Very quiet, despite close proximity to railway. (Very easily reached from station nearby.) Parking spaces are great asset. Convenient for exploring old town. High class restaurant.
Review 93:Beware, the amazing restaurant is closed on Sundays, but the staff booked us into a very good alternative over in the old town.
Review 94:I have been there several times over the years. It is a gem, full of history, that has been in the hands of one family for generations. The Art Deco interior (especially the bar) is right up my street and the restaurant is fantastic, as is the cellar. By the way, "Terminus" means railway station, so it's easy to find after a long day on the road.
Review 95:One of us liked the breakfast, the other would have liked fruit, yohurt etc as choices
Review 96:the 19th C charm of the building and fittings, with up to date rooms
Review 97:nothing at all Take note, Hotel de France Auch, an old hotel can still be lovely after many years.
Review 98:everything, but then we'd been in Hotel de France in Auch the night before! restaurant excellent, staff lovely, we enjoyed having our apero on the terrace outside watching the world go by. I'd been to this hotel and restaurant 30 years ago and it was as lovely as I remembered.
Review 99:Wifi didn't work at all, even in the lobby.
Review 100:Hotel with plenty of character and charm. Rooms and bathrooms a good size and air conditioned. Delicious lunch. Outside dining on terrace charming with excellent service.
Review 101:The very deep bath, a wonderful device, was difficult to get into and out of for a shower.
Review 102:A classical French provincial hotel with all the authentic touches. The bathroom was classical in its elegance, from another age. The location near the railway station was very convenient; and only 10 minutes walk to the old town.
Review 103:The hotel is great for families , I would not recommend if you are looking for a romantic getaway . The hosts have young children that are at the property a lot so if you want a quiet weekend away this is not the place for you. The towels in The room need to be changed Every day and beach towels for the pool and some lounge chairs by the pool would be great .
Review 104:The rooms are beautiful, new and spotless. The beds that are electronic and adjustable are just Devine and I now want one for home ! The linen is white and clean with a Doona used which is a lovely change from the cheap hotels that we had been staying at previously that only use a thin blanket. The hotel has a lovely pool and the bathrooms are big . The breakfast was lovely and the hosts are very nice people that really go out of their way to help their guests.
Review 105:Our room was at the front of the building facing the main road, which is on a hill. The room was very hot (no ac) and we had to have the windows open, and the noise from the road (including a motorbike race?) went on until the early hours. Parking could be problematic - we arrived as a car was leaving the hotel car-park and managed to secure a place (I think 8 were available overall, and these are very narrow). We were also disappointed with Cahors as a location to explore during the evening - we found it tired, dirty and rundown, compared with similarly situated delightful towns such as Bergerac or Cognac. The staff were nice and helpful, but the pre-plated breakfast was nothing to write home about.
Review 106:We visited Cahors as part of a touring holiday in France in 2014. We chose this hotel for an overnight B&B stay because it is close to the city centre.
Review 107:With restaurant closed no bar snacks
Review 108:Friendly staff Quiet room
Review 109:nothing
Review 110:The staff were very helpful and the suite had a seperate lounge
Review 111:That we had to leave the next day
Review 112:The receptionist was great and she set the tone for all that followed
Review 113:What's not to like?
Review 114:Very friendly and helpful staff. Old world charm. Good location. Parking. Decent internet.
Review 115:Staff were fantastic and helped make a birthday celebration very special.
Review 116:Clean freindly and in a character building enjoyed the stay We will return and recommend to others
Review 117:The hotel was a little abandoned; it has seen better days but that kind of added to its charm.
Review 118:A bit seedy, worn carpets, mattresses should be replaced.
Review 119:Real Old World charm, warm reception, excellent wi fi, nicely renovated bathroom.
Review 120:Good location - walking distance to town. Staff friendly and helpful. Room comfortable and clean. Very good value breakfast in pleasant surrounding.
Review 121:Near the rail station and the old medieval bridge with an excellent restaurant.
Review 122:Wifi didn't work in our room. Electricity went off on one occasion but was fixed immediately.
Review 123:Very charming period hotel. Friendly helpful staff
Review 124:Very comfortable and a great place to stay
Review 125:A torch is recommended if walking at night, streets are poorly lit
Review 126:Quiet location, free parking. Pleasant walk to town centre and attractions
