Reviews for Citotel Hôtel La Chartreuse

Review 1:The bathroom was very clean, but the toilet was stuck in a corner, which might make it rather uncomfortable for very tall people.

Review 2:Clean room, nice bed, peaceful river view. The restaurant was great too, as are most "Logis de France". It's a short walk over the bridge into the old town (between 5 and 10 minutes).

Review 3:No bad experiences.

Review 4:Hotel was very well placed -a ten minute walk into the centre of Cahors. Beds were comfortable, room enormous compared to most we've stayed in, staff pleasant and breakfast was very good with a nice view over the river.

Review 5:The whole hotel was very hot, the French feel the cold much more than the Brits.

Review 6:It was a very nice room clean and modern but nicely so. We had dinner in the restaurant on the Friday night it was really good, we would have gone on the Saturday also, but the set menu had gone from €19 to €27 we went elsewhere and didn't enjoy it as much it also cost about that anyway. The Swimming pool would be a big plus in the summer. Nice terrace and just past the hotel other direct from gaining into the town is a Lille drop down walk to the river where you can get a boat ride we didn't notice till we were leaving. again it would be lovely in the summer.

Review 7:Noisy Japanese door slamming convention practicing door slammingfrom 7am! Japanese coach parties should not be a part of a familyLogis hotel.

Review 8:Excellent location, lovely room overlooking the river

Review 9:Receptionist gave no indication I had to reserve table for dinner, though I had stated on arrival that I wanted dinner. After being put on a table with 5-6 others and then complaining to waiting staff I was, rather grudgingly, found a table to myself. Staff quite unfriendly. I was never once asked if my meal was ok, just whether I had finished each course. I waited 15 minutes at the end to be offered coffee, but then gave up and went to bed. Only 1 slow coffee machine caused queues at breakfast. Receptionist also brusque to my wife when she tried to phone me in my room.

Review 10:Excellent location. Slight extra cost of river-fronted terrace room well worthwhile. Lift. Easy to find just out of town centre. Free parking opposite. Good dinner and breakfast. "Wine buffet" at dinner, with fixed price to try a selection of local wines, white, rose and red.

Review 11:The only really bad point was my wife had trouble getting into the bath, the shower screen was fixed and there were no hand rails to get into the small space left

Review 12:The location The friendly staff

Review 13:Breakfast on our last morning was set up in the main dining room as the breakfast room was being used for another function. It was unfortunately chaotic and a poorer selection than normal. (The first two mornings it had been excellent).

Review 14:Dinner in the restaurant was very good and excellent value for money.

Review 15:The terrace was not very inviting despite lovely position over the river

Review 16:Quiet position on the riverside. Easy parking Proximity to the centre of Cahors

Review 17:Miserable unwelcoming receptionist ( short dark boyish hairstyle ). Room not serviced until late afternoon. Dirty balcony including many dead insects and cobwebs. Didn't appear to have been cleaned for days.

Review 18:Location.

Review 19:No where to put your tray whilst filling it up with your breakfast.

Review 20:Superb location over looking the river but close to the city centre. Very tasty meal in the restaurant and we made full use of the 'Buffet du vin' - 6.50 euros for as many glasses of wine as you wanted!

Review 21:Food in restaurant was excellent. Service was very variable, some tried hard, others would rather we were not there. Deliberately kept waiting because we asked for items that should have been brought anyway. (wine list, bread)

Review 22:location and air conditioning. Clean well equipped room

Review 23:Having stayed here twice before, we had experienced room 15 on the 14 thJuly, a room with No view apart from a decrepit flat roof top and that was offered to us on the 4th August! We said NON, explained why and paid 10 Euros to get a room with a view! Avoid chamber 15.

Review 24:The view from the room was excellent, river and bridges, lovely.

Review 25:Hotel immediately next to the River Lot, so great views. Quiet and a 10 minute walk into main part of Cahors City. Plenty of parking availability, a self-serve laundromat and an elegant wine store both within a 3 minute walk of hotel. The restaurant at the hotel prepared surprisingly delicious food (often hotel restaurants are not known for excellent food).

Review 26:The air conditioning was not up to the job on a hot night!

Review 27:Great location in the city, comfy & friendly. Car park close by (sep. charge), quite big rooms - bedroom and bathroom.

Review 28:When the back of my chair disappeared down between the wooden planks on the terrace, not one member of staff showed any interest or concern, even though I was helpless.

Review 29:Efficient air conditioning in very hot weather. Hotel very well-sited for the old city

Review 30:when the cleaners started in the morning it sounded like being in a hostel-the heavily sprung doors made them slam and the lack of carpet in the room made it very hollow

Review 31:great location, clean and well maintained room, dog friendly

Review 34:No place to sit = lounge or (staffed) bar; interior somewhat dated; reception not always manned - referral to staff in dining room for check-in.

Review 35:The food was good, the location excellent and the views from the deck over the Lot River very very nice.

Review 36:Steak at dinner was inedible, very tough, fatty and full of gristle. Chips were horrible, dry and greasy like they were re-heated!! Staff exchanged steak for pork which was ok. Basic breakfast!

Review 37:Close to town centre on river

Review 38:The room we booked with a view of the hills was very disappointing, it looked out onto a tip of a flat roof and little else. So the curtain was permanently closed and the room light was on. A summers day! There was only just enough room in the car park across the road for our car.

Review 39:The location is beautiful. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was very good.

Review 42:Having to look for reception staff regularly is not great.

Review 43:The location on the river is great and a wonderful place to eat on the terrace overlooking the river. The staff are generally efficient and friendly (with a couple of exceptions). It is about a 10 minute walk to the centre of Cahors which is a really pleasant place to spend some time.

Review 44:Caters for a lot of coach parties so the restaurant can be a bit chaotic.

Review 45:Excellent location for walking into Cahors (about 10 mins to centre of town). Food in restaurant very good, good breakfast

Review 46:Check in person poor, some of the waiting staff very poor. If the girl serving us dinner (27 euros) could have actually thrown it across the room I am sure she would have...she was rude

Review 47:Location and rooms very cool and very clean

Review 48:Potatoes at dinner were soggy

Review 49:Updated room, adequate power outlets, river view, air conditioning, restaurant on site, bathroom had adequate space to put toiletries, no carpeting, desk space, clean and uncluttered space, nice bed linens, free on site parking, excellent in room WIFI

Review 50:The location is very nice, right at the river. We had river view and saw a nice bridge. This however was the railway bridge and the there was about one train per hour during the entire night. When you are used to sleep with open windows, then this hotel is not recommendable. We tried to have dinner at the hotel. We arrived late and had no advanced reservation. When we arrived at the restaurant early, there were only 2 or 3 tables occupied. The waitress however offered us only a table right at the entrance and not one of the non-occupied 20 to 30 other tables. This is why we can not judge the quality of the restaurant, as we went downtown to have our dinner there. The breakfast, even it is only 10 euro per person, was not worth that price.

Review 51:The room was very nice and clean. Very close to downtown and free parking.

Review 52:Hard to access from downtown on foot as there was no safe place to walk between the bridge and the hotel.

Review 53:Being on the bank of the river allowed us to enjoy the breezes from our deck; great down bedding added to our comfort.

Review 54:Only suggestion is that someone clean the carpets on the stairs by the lobby elevator.

Review 55:Breakfast buffet was neat but the wine buffet at dinner was more fun!

Review 56:The hotel fails to make the most of its fantastic riverside location and lacks character and charm in spite of its good facilities.

Review 57:The location just ten mins walk from the historic quarter of the town and overlooking the river and away from busy roads is fantastic. Add to this easy free parking, comfortable rooms (many with river views for a reasonable supplement) and reasonable prices and in spite of its lack of character (see comment below), it was a good choice for us overall, and is likely to be for other couples travelling on a modest budget.

Review 58:Hotel has a free car park & it was not far to walk into centre of Cahors. We stayed for 3 nights, the dinner each night was excellent with friendly serving staff - used the set menu & a la carte, the wine buffet was great value. There was a good selection for buffet breakfast each day.

Review 59:Lobby and some of the areas are getting tired & need refreshing (minor point), unattractive exterior (minor). Would visit again in a heartbeat.

Review 60:Perfect location with view of River Lot from our balcony, wonderful food in restaurant, nice bar, easy automobile access & parking, short walk across bridge to heart of Cahors dining and nightlife, shopping across street. Rooms well-equipped & maintained, great value.

Review 61:No bad experiences but the wifi was very slow, although this appears to be normal for hotels.

Review 62:The hotel was convenient for the city centre with free parking and a short walk across the river to restaurants etc. The room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good value. The GPS took us straight to the hotel, although along a narrow road which is best avoided - use a map.

Review 63:At reception lady was having a bad day and was very rude. The place looked very run down, but so does Cahors Parking impossible at night

Review 64:One person was very helpful Room was very nice compared with the rest of the hotel Location was great

Review 65:Nothing, we would stay there again w/o a second thought.

Review 66:My cousin and I were in Cahors November 12 for one night. What a convenient hotel. We had free parking across the street; we were able to walk into Old Town across the bridge within 15 minutes, and we arrived early, only to have one of the staff stop her restaurant duties and gladly helped us check in. Our room was a twin w/o a balcony, but it looked like many of the doubles had a small balcony. No matter. The room was large with a nice big bathroom. We didn't use the minibar but there was one available in all rooms. We didn't mind paying a little more for this hotel since it was free parking and we could walk into Old Town easily.

Review 67:evening meal choices very limited and a bit expensive

Review 68:en suite and shower in particular was excellent reasonably spacious room lots of power outlets in room good bedside lighting good breakfast (though not cooked and fairly pricey)

Review 69:Room too hot due to unlagged water pipes in wardrobe. Air con not working therefore had to leave balcony door open. (very noisy that night/early morning due to party opposite and street cleaners from 06.30hrs). Toilet badly situated opposite a leaking unadjustable hot radiator meant anyone of average height or above found it very uncomfortable. The towels were small & of poor quality. Breakfast was barely adequate and compared poorly with other hotels of similar price. Ran out of coffee and had to go and find somebody to replenish it and clear the tables. Instructed to leave key at reception when going out but had to queue for several minutes when returning to get it back or when reception unmanned had to go into the restaurant, This was unacceptable.

Review 70:The location on the river with the balcony is superb.

Review 71:Great location on the river, lovely third floor room with balcony and view, comfy beds, great restaurant with value for money- esp the wine buffet. Breakfast buffet was fine too.

Review 72:Breakfast was not included and cost 10 euros, so we had a petit dejeuner in the town.

Review 73:The room we had was excellent with comfortable beds and very quiet. The old town is about a 10min walk from hotel which is fine. As we could not find a restaurant we liked as a sensible price in the old town, we decided to have the 26 euro fixed price 4 course menu in the hotel. It was excellent with all courses a hit. Cannot comment about breakfast as we had a petite dejeuner in the town. Highly recommend hotel.

Review 74:Would like just one English TV channel - just news would be something!

Review 75:Really liked the location, 10 minutes walk from the charming town of Cahors, which meant it was quiet, not being central. Spacious bedroom with own balcony overlooking the Lot river as was the dining room. Outdoor swimming pool a plus after a hot day!

Review 76:Towels could be better quality and larger. Breakfast should include hot items for 10E and better quality fruit offer.

Review 77:The excellent food in the restaurant - worth a visit for this alone. Large outdoor terrace on the river with views of the bridge. Good large bath room with easy access shower for disabled husband. Very comfortable beds with smooth quality linen. Short distance into town meant not needing the car- this was relaxing. Good amount of car park space outside hotel. Lift to upper floors. Good outdoor pool- very clean and secure against kids entering unattended. Winery and local produce shop in walking distance for tasting.

Review 78:The decor is a little dated We had a problem at the restaurant in the evening. The service was far too slow. I think our order had been forgotten as everyone else seemed tobe served OK.

Review 79:Cross the bridge and you are in a Cahors Beautiful pool area with loungers Very friendly staff Good value for money They let us check in early Small balcony No problems with wifi Very good breakfast Large bathroom

Review 80:The service in the restaurant was too quick & impersonal

Review 81:The hotel has free parking and is in easy walking distance of Cahor centre. The rooms are comfortable and ours had a nice view of the river.

Review 82:The evening meal. It was, which is only natural, too French. We English people like our vegetables and pizzas and curries etc

Review 83:The beautiful setting just like a picture postcard. The bedroom was spacious and the bed comfortable.

Review 84:Steps down to the dining room - difficult for those with walking difficultly - else a long walk round outside. Also rather curiously the doors in the bedroom did not fit properly.

Review 85:Excellent location. Good breakfasts and dinners on our 2 nights there. The menus would have been rather limiting had we been staying longer.

Review 86:Location on river and so close to town centre was superb. Very easy to find. Large and very comfortable room was impressive. Meal was really excellent: Quercy menu gave four courses of very high quality food for only €24, with a glass of good local Cahors wine €3. Really very good indeed. Would recommend and return.

Review 87:Rooms felt a bit clinical and bathroom very narrow, fittings a bit "tired".

Review 88:Easy to find, with a nice restaurant on site. Could walk along the river and across into the historic centre easily, and there was a "Cave" just down the road!

Review 89:being bitten by mosquitoes in the evening!

Review 90:the location was beautiful, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant provided excellent food and ambience. The view from the room and balcony was great.

Review 91:Nothing

Review 92:Lovely comfortable room with view over river. Had meal 2 nights in the hotel and both times lovely and good value for money from the set menu. Able to sit by window and eat in a pleasant relaxing atmosphere. Excellent for walking into town and along the river. Breakfast a good selection for all tastes. Also on sight carpark was free.

Review 93:Breakfast was not well managed and sparse. Not a lot of parking and only public.

Review 94:Location with views on the river and near the town. Good size rooms, modern facilities. Nice dining outside along the river.

Review 95:I had requested a room with a balcony and river view but was initially given a small room looking onto the air conditioning units. Another room was found but later found that the hotel takes coach parties which seem too take priority in room allocation.

Review 96:Location is perfect for walking to and around the old town. The hotel is beautifully positioned on the river. The restaurant serves good quality food but it is understaffed for the number of customers.

Review 97:See above

Review 98:Hotel was amazing. Restaurant was a big let down. It was Bastille day and they probably resented working that day but it was not a memorable experience and the wine had to be returned as undrinkable. It sadly spoilt our great impression of an excellent hotel.. The staff were not trained to a commensurate level.....ie they were trying to deliver a non existent property in a provincial hotel and were caught out in their inexperience. Stay but don't eat!

Review 99:None

Review 100:courteous friendly staff. Excellent food with very practical "wine buffet" clean quiet room efficient heating/cooling system

Review 101:Other than the above, we were very happy.

Review 102:My wife found the bath difficult to get into, due to the glass partitioning being fixed.

Review 103:Lovely staff great position and great food

Review 104:Plenty of parking

Review 105:Soundproof, breakfast, 4 pm check-in.

Review 106:Great terrace, location is good for car travelers.

Review 107:The friendliness of your staff, toward us and our dog. We all felt welcome throughout.

Review 108:Good room with balcony overlooking river half board was excellent

Review 109:Convenient location. Comfortable for a couple of nights.

Review 110:The rooms need a face lift

Review 111:Location and price

Review 112:The location

Review 113:Staff were unhelpful, breakfast was possibly worst breakfast of our 3 week trip around France.

Review 114:A perfect place to stop off on the way south. Lovely location

Review 115:Accommodation

Review 116:A larger hotel so a little less personal

Review 117:Stunning location, right on the river.

Review 118:Good location. Diiner excellent and waiting staff helpful and friendly.

Review 119:No bath, but shower. Perhaps I have misread the information

Review 120:Excellent restaurant

Review 121:The location by river with dining terrace

Review 122:Very good location, wonderful setting, good value for money and excellent restaurant, would return

Review 123:De ligging is fenomenaal.

Review 124:No negative points

Review 125:Location, restaurant in hotel - superb! Room is big enough and comfortable.

Review 126:Very poor breakfast No coffee making facilities in room

Review 127:The location is fantastic. The rooms were spacious and modern

Review 128:nowt!

Review 129:friendly staff, ease of access, good restaurant. Handy lift, good parking!

Review 130:Some of the staff could have been friendlier

Review 131:The bed, the view and the pool

Review 132:River view. Friendly staff. Close to the town centre.
