Reviews for Hartwood Hall by Good Night Inns

Review 1:Mold on window and shower, closet dark so hardly can see anything inside of it. and closet wall was wet

Review 2:Clean, comfortable, and great value for money. lovely staff

Review 3:The food was very poor we ate 3 times in the evening and could not eat most things on the plate ie chips onion rings the sauce was very week the American platter was inedible it was like it had been cooked hours before and microwaved very disappointing manger was very helpful and apologied plus refund

Review 4:Location very good staff very wellcomeing / tidy rooms / very clean

Review 5:We felt the room was dated, and lacked a mini fridge, as we stayed for more than a week, it would be nice to be able to store our own drinks

Review 6:Close to motorway network. Pub/restaurant great food and service

Review 7:Room quite small on first floor. small stairs to carry luggage to room. No lift.

Review 8:Located on main A6 road. Lots of car parking. Rooms in seperate building. Food was very good at reasonable price. Clean rooms and en-suite. Freeview TV and coffee making etc

Review 9:Tired, worn out rooms, locks/doors poor, dirty windows, carpet, smell of smoke in room, ash on window ledge, dangerously hot and pressurised hot hap in basin (room 2), bulbs not working.

Review 10:lovely staff, great location.

Review 11:The food is microwave, smash mash and not much for vegetarians. Over priced GM processed rubbish.

Review 12:Some of the rooms lack daylight, and a little dim, but overall clean and comfortable. The location is handy, and regular buses if needed.

Review 13:There was a humming/buzzing sound all night that made it difficult to sleep. Our daughter staying in another room on the floor above could also hear it in her room. Two out of the four electric sockets didn't work.

Review 14:Very clean, easy parking, good location with everything you need. Hotel building separate from restaurant/pub.

Review 15:Plugs were too low, couldn't charge laptop, no views out of the back, all upper windows were restricted and it's a commercial microwave meal smash mash restaurant. However, the service, staff and presentation were great, if you like GM food go for it!

Review 16:The wifi, the service, the set out, and the comfort. Beautiful building.

Review 17:I was facing main road and because the window was broken i could hear everything until it calmed down, shower was powerful but would only produce warm water. It took me half hour set the wifi up on my laptop as it was not as simple as putting a password in then it kept going off.

Review 18:Really good food, Lots of facilities in room (iron, kettle, etc) Staff were brilliant- both in the pub and the cleaners. You couldn't here the pub at all.

Review 19:Our room was on the ground floor and sewers woken up throughout the night by passing pedestrians and traffic. There was bad mould in the shower and stains on the carpet. There was no way of going to the toilet quietly during the night due to the fan that came on with the light that sounded like a plane taking off. Although this was a budget hotel, I still expected a higher level of accommodation.

Review 20:The bed was comfy.

Review 21:The location if perfect for us as we are attending the LDS Temple which is across the street. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the meals at the restaurant are good and well priced.

Review 22:I was rushed at check in. I needed to check out early and there was no arrangements about dropping off room keys for those checking out early. Not impressed.

Review 23:Bedroom / bathroom has the feeling of not being 'finished' off. Window leeks - large puddle of water over window shelf. Tap on sink, slow then floods out water. Rooms not made up or poorly so. The whole place is in need of a facelift inside 7 out. I did not expect top notch

Review 24:I have to be honest & say, it's basic. we ate in the pub part a few times, the waitress was fine, food fine. Location was good for us,

Review 25:My room was not cleaned on this occasion luckily I was in a twin room so had enough towels for both nights of my stay.

Review 26:The meals in the attached pub are nice. The staff are very friendly and helpful

Review 27:The pillows were two thin. The Cloud WiFi was not much good

Review 28:The staff in the pub were very friendly and made me feel very welcome. The room was kept clean. The hotel is separate from the pub, which means any noise was not disturbing.

Review 29:Room extremely tired especially bathroom,Breakfast not value for money and not well presented,Room 10 window broken and would not clo se hence traffic noise unbearable

Review 30:Location was first class for our purpose Good car parking facility

Review 31:Mould in shower area was in abundance due to poor ventilation. Needs serious attention. Breakfast was ok but eggs were very greasy. Shame the waitress was also the breakfast cook as she had several orders to deal with.

Review 32:Evening meal was reasonable and plenty of choice.

Review 33:No sleep Saturday night. Noisy folk continuously in and out from 1am - 6.30am. Lack of maintenance and cleanliness to building (big hole in door to shower room). Very poor diy furniture in room. Majority of pub seating stained and very worn. Cobwebs in lights and old dust on surrounding woodwork. Dirty cereal bowls at breakfast, General lack of cleanliness.

Review 34:A lovely old building with good location, parking and staff. Clean white bedding/towels.

Review 35:Awful bedroom and bathroom decoration and layout (room 1). Hadn't been decorated / upgraded for years, poor room lighting. Continental breakfast comprised yoghurt, fruit, cereal and toast - nothing remotely continental about it except for a tasteless croissant!

Review 36:Friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. 12 noon check out (as shown on website)

Review 37:We did feel that there were some small details that needed attention. For example the basin taps were very stiff. A quick spray with a spray product would remove the build up of limescale. We had to ask for certain obvious items that should have been on the breakfast buffet. A little more management attention would easily rectify these quite minor isssues.

Review 38:The staff were friendly and helpful and the accommodation was adequate.

Review 39:The room was very hot. The bed base was separating with matterace hanging over one side. The shower cubical walls were mouldy and not much room to turn around

Review 40:Convenience to my venue

Review 41:The rooms were unbelievably hot! The hot water pipes to the radiators and ensuite are exposed (old building so understandable) but the windows were small and had restrictors on them so you could barely open them more than a couple of inches. It didn't help that were there during a spell of warm weather but unfortunately the heat in each room (we had 3) would stop us from returning there which is a great pity.

Review 42:The rooms were clean and quite a good size. The staff were excellent and attended to everything speedily and were always friendly and full of information about local sights etc.

Review 43:We where very happy the staff where lovely and I was very pleased to get a down stairs room like I asked for as I have bad knees and going up stairs is a nightmare. The food was nice and good value we are coming again in sept

Review 44:Allday breakfast was a disappointment from last time I had it earlier in the year. The sausages were nowhere near the quality they used to be.

Review 45:Twin room was ok. Shower pressure is good

Review 46:Noisy, and needed cleaning. All reported to manager, who rectified what he could, included loose light fitting, windowsill full of dead wasps, replacing light bulbs. The room was small and shabby, hole in wall, and unable to turn off radiator (no valve).all resulted in sleepless night.

Review 47:Easy to park

Review 48:The room was too hot, the bathroom floor was almost too hot to stand on. All heating turned off but still boiling, would have been nice to have a fan in the room. Low score on comfort purely down to room being too warm.

Review 49:Fantastic lady checked us in, think she was the Manager. Couldn't do enough to help and chatted about our visit location and history of hotel.

Review 50:The taps in the bathroom need sorting water pressure was way too high and you ended up soaked & although there was a warning about very hot water because of the pressure you got burnt even when being careful.

Review 51:Lovely staff, excellent location & great price.

Review 52:No bad experience but the hotel is close to a busy main road which thankfully quietens down at night.

Review 53:Comfortable double bed, spacious bar area and generous breakfast.

Review 54:the people in the room above us were shouting and argueing and running round the room which kept us awake most of the night.,

Review 55:everything was nice and clean.

Review 56:Bathroom in room was tiny. Door to bathroom hit the toilet unless the seat was up. Toilet seat was loose. Double bed sloped up at bottom was uncomfortable. Windows were pokey. Lights were very dim.

Review 57:Staff polite and nice

Review 58:Nothing. Was good value for money.

Review 59:Free car park & wifi is a bonus. The accommodation was basic but clean though smelt somewhat damp. The pub is good value though breakfast was basic. Was a good location for a night stop off en route to Scotland. Quiet too considering it was next to the hospital. Staff were available, present & helpful.

Review 60:Musty smell (room 1), my daughters room was fine - needed window opening for couple of hours Bathroom needed updating eg.grout in shower

Review 61:Friendly staff Excellent breakfast Good price Good location for motorway

Review 62:The room was tatty with damage to windows and the bathroom light. We only had a part used roll of toilet tissue with no spare if it ran out and no way to get a replacement. The over bed lighting was too dim to be able to read in bed.

Review 63:Location. It was also clean and convenient for our purpose.

Review 64:The bed was a bit firm for me, but I tend to find most hotel beds too hard!

Review 65:Staff, convenient location for Chorley. Restaurant next door was v.good value.

Review 66:Hot tap hard to turn off. No soap in sink dispenser. Toilet to near door. Noise from road.

Review 67:Staff were great. We had evening meal and full breakfast. Great food. room clean and comfortable. Do go for meals in our local Fayre and Square at Noggin where staff helpful too.

Review 68:It is a walk across the car park to the accommodation from the reception in the pub - on a cold wet evening the offer of an umbrella or help with bags would have been welcome.

Review 69:The staff were friendly and generally helpful in the adjoining pub restaurant - where reception is also located.

Review 70:Having travelled for 3 hours by car to get to Chorley we were exhausted and simply wanted a nice shower to wake us up for the night's event. On opening the door to the room the smell was horrific, musty, mouldy and damp! The bathroom reflected the smell and when we jumped in the shower to be met with cold water. We had no hot water despite complaining and were told the boiler had broken!!!

Review 71:The 'continental' breakfast was very poor, with 'long life' croissants still in their cellophane wrappers. The 'muffins' were choc chip cakes and the promised crumpets were non existent. We were given one piece of toast between two people. Very poor quality all round.

Review 72:Well equipped , quiet room. There was even an ironing board and iron, as well as the usual tea making facilities. A comfortable night's stay. The cooked breakfast was very good.

Review 73:Bedroom faded, dated and in need of refurbishment. Food poor quality but cheap in all senses of the word.

Review 74:Staff very helpful. Well located for Motorway but no Motorway noise. Room price OK but better rooms available elsewhere.

Review 75:The room temperature was very very hot and difficult to adjust. The room was tired and in serious need of updating. The lighting was atrocious. The hotel was really a "lodge" type of premises not an old fashioned hotel as it appears on the photos. The accommodation block was badly insulated and noisy. Our stay was further spoilt by the fact of the bathroom flooding and the ceiling falling in due to a leak in the room above, resulting in plumbers and electricians tramping through our room at 4 in the morning, which absolutely put the tin hat on the whole stay. Sorry Chorley...Never again... Possibly the worst night away my wife and I have ever had... This will take some beating !!!!!

Review 76:The staff were very helpful

Review 77:Dirty room, mouldy shower, smell/odour, road noise, then having to get dressed via my mobile phone torch as room had no electric--this room was not fit for purpose, which I told duty manager Sam howarth on check out

Review 78:There was no high/good point to visit

Review 79:Stayed at this hotel a few years ago and my mum ended up cleaning our rooms and making beds as the cleaner had just decided not to turn up for work that day....staff were helpful and couldn't be more apologetic....so we thought we'd give it another go as a last resort....well what can I say.....the room stunk of damp...there was no hot water....we couldn't shut the bedroom window so had to listen to traffic all night on a busy road on a mattress that's seen more than its first days...then to top it off trying to make the maids job a bit easier we stripped the beds only for someone else's dirty used condom wrapper to fall out the bed....discuted that we even £50 without any breakfast....appalling

Review 80:The shower room was very small but you were restricted on space. As we are members of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints we do not drink tea or coffee so drinking chocolate would be very nice

Review 81:It was close to Temple for us we were able to walk we did not have a car with us

Review 82:Made a trip up to chorley for a friends wedding. Met a friend there. Was a convenient location and was excellent value for money, just what we needed. If I'm ever up that way again will keep this place in mind.

Review 83:Reception is in a very crowded noisy bar, The shower head was dirty and the water was extremely hot in the sink. You heard everybody else in the building moving about and was woken at 0430 in the morning by people arguing upstairs

Review 84:Not a lot, would only use this again if no other place was available

Review 85:Room was very small, carpet was filthy, as was the runner on the bed. The room had been cleaned but because it was so old and worn looked awful.poor lighting in room and shower was full of mould. Just sitting on the bed revealed the mattress was hard and obviously well worn. Be careful...it is also attached to a pub

Review 86:Staff were friendly and were very concerned when I informed them we were checking out an hour after we had checked in

Review 87:could not close top window which made the room a bit draughty that's all

Review 88:comfortable beds good tv nice bath excellent breakfast provision of decaf coffee friendly staff especially helping with the wifi good choice of menu nicely situated near station and town centre and transport.

Review 89:Walls were pretty thin so it was quite noisy Only offered tea or coffee in room Bathroom was on the small side

Review 90:Restaurant - food was good Free wi-fi - good connection Bed was comfortable

Review 91:room position was not good being next to a busy road and traffic lights, so had to close the window which caused the room to be hot.

Review 92:location of hotel was ideal for my requirements

Review 93:Location convenient for Chorley centre and access to motorways. Pub right nextdoor for value for money meals.Room had everything we needed for our stay.

Review 94:60's decor you have to be joking. Room size, minute not enough room to swing a cat. Rooms not sound proofed so all day and night the sirens boomed into my room

Review 95:Staff were very accomodating and their level of service was excellent considering the obvious lack of money not spent on the hotel. Parking was good.

Review 96:Location in regards to traffic noise. Name incomplete. Insufficient information to indicate that it was next to the Hartwood Hotel where the reception is to check in. The accommodation name was on a small sign which you could not see from the road due to size and hidden by trees. It is situated on a busy roundabout so clear instructions are imperative. There is no fan in the room so can't close window to try and keep noise out.

Review 97:Breakfast and meals were at the hotel so for short stays is adequate. Location is good as a hub to reach Manchester, Blackpool and Liverpool

Review 98:The central heating was noisy very noticeable at night. Important safety point--bathroom taps need a re-think--hard to avoid getting drenched with very hot water until you get the hang of them--they were either off or full on.

Review 99:Convenient location for Chorley/A6/motorway--but suprisingly quiet. Breakfast was vey reasonably priced and very good. Pleasant helpful staff.

Review 100:the shower did not drain properly and caused the floor to be wet. No milk supplied so unable to make tea or coffee.Poor toilet paper. The room was of a poor standard and lots of noise adjacent to the room.

Review 101:Cleaners had forgotten to hoover floor and it was quite dirty. Upon us commenting about it we received a 4£ discount of our 54£ bill, which I find too little. Very thin walls and some mould on ceiling in bathroom. Bathroom fan wouldn't turn off completely and was noisy.

Review 102:We could check in until 11pm. Big bed.

Review 103:room smelt a bit damp ,small shower , nowhere to put you bits (shampoo, shower gel ) only on the bottom of shower. bed very hard couldn't have stayed their more than a couple of nights

Review 104:price

Review 105:Smelt old and musty. My husband could hardly move in the shower and it had rust and mould in it. Very old and date place.

Review 106:Not much to be honest, booked thinking it was another hotel I had seen :(

Review 107:The food and service were both quite terrible. Excuses made but same story the next time. Our experiences included stale bread, meals that were ordered but not given (same thing happened with the desserts) and staff that simply walked away when we enquired after the missing items.

Review 108:For the price - you got what you paid for, a basic room to sleep and shower in. The location suited us as we were attending a family christening.

Review 109:Bed a bit hard.. no other complaints at all. . Great value. ..

Review 110:Staff were very friendly. . Room good size and clean. . Excellent value.. If you want first class pay a lot more and go somewhere rise!

Review 111:Needs refurbishing, warm room, ensuite door hit wc seat, needs rectifing but how?

Review 112:Easy access. Quiet, away from pub, good pub menu. Very comfortable bed.

Review 113:Disturbed sleep due to proximity of a major road and other guests moving about late at night

Review 114:Evening Meal choice and quality was very good. Staff were first class and very helpful. Breakfast was good.

Review 115:Wifi was a little tricky, but it worked out in the end. The accommodation house didn't actually have the name Hartwood Hall on it, so we struggled to find it (had to phone).

Review 116:I stayed with my parents on a driving holiday in England. I had a single room and my parents a double. Both rooms roomy, clean and had all you needed. Staff were amazing - really amazing. Helpful, smiling, professional at all times - no question or request was too much. They really deserve credit!

Review 117:Bit of a magic roundabout to get access from chorley direction

Review 118:Nice clean rooms. close to pub for an evening meal. All day breakfast is really good value for money

Review 119:The cockerel waking me up very early! It was a little tricky to find staff early in the morning to check out. Food should be served a bit later too (think about those travelling around etc who can only get to hotel late on may need some food too!)

Review 120:Room was great. Good size - had everything you needed. Service was execellent - friendly staff.

Review 121:Would have preferred a bigger bed in the single room , and a room downstairs due to it being awkward using stairs with my osteoarthritis

Review 122:Good service from staff. Noticed nice new toilet in bathroom.

Review 123:Rooms are comfortable and excellent value for money, obviously for the price your not expecting first class accommodation but for an overnight its great have been a couple of times.staff very friendly rooms are in a separate block to the pub so no noise from that

Review 124:Rooms very tired with mould on walls.

Review 125:Location

Review 126:internet conection was poor

Review 127:value for money

Review 128:Everything

Review 129:room was a little bit cold

Review 130:size of the room was perfect

Review 131:Rooms a little tired.

Review 132:Handy location

Review 133:nothing

Review 134:nice location, good pub next door, comfortable room and bed

Review 135:Room smelt damp and musty, bed was so unction felt crippled the next day, staff were highly strung and snappy

Review 136:Turkey Christmas dinner well over cooked, very poor, wish we had stuck to steaks

Review 137:Staff ,room ambience booked room

Review 138:All the the staff was fantastic
