Reviews for The Talbot Inn
Review 1:Small room in need of redecorating and a good clean, slowest shower ever, small breakfast and owner who insisted the bar closed at 10 PM despite being able to check in up to 11 PM.
Review 2:Location
Review 3:The breakfast choice could have benefitted from having porridge and croissants or pastries and the toast was made from cheap sliced bread. Not everyone likes a cooked breakfast!
Review 4:Location was very convenient. Room was lovely and cosy. Bed was extremely comfortable.
Review 5:for the price... the room is a shoebox and the facility is not great. a lot of cobwebs and the shower head fitting was damaged and hurt when fell down!
Review 6:very friendly personal touch
Review 7:Very overpriced. Extremely cramped, though clean bathroom. Pathetic shower. In the room; dirty carpets, bed covers, curtains & surfaces. The TV remote required a tissue to touch it, it was so sticky. Wifi & TV technical issues.
Review 8:A quiet location
Review 9:Not a complaint about The Talbot, but just the fact that Cirencester's closest station is at Kemble, about 8 km away. As I was relying on public transport and arrived on a Sunday, I had to wait about half an hour for a taxi.
Review 10:The hosts, Ann and David, were very obliging. Ann even drove me to Kemble Station on the morning I left. Their meals were to die for; my room was as large as a small flat and the location was a 5 minute stroll from the City Centre.
Review 11:Tired bathroom, very feeble shower, paintwork tatty and not very clean. Ground floor room overlooking carpark so not happy to leave window open at night
Review 12:Helpful staff, good breakfast
Review 13:One and only quibble, the pillows were too soft.
Review 14:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was the best I've ever had and the evening meal was also excellent. Great value for money.
Review 15:The staff were very friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to make our stay a good experience. The breakfast was very tasty with lots of variety.
Review 16:As a pub it was a little noisy outside for a while in the evening, but did stop by late evening.
Review 17:Close location to centre of town with free onsite parking. Staff very helpful. Meals available onsite.
Review 18:Easy to find, plentiful parking, within walking distance of town centre (and museum), friendly staff, lovely food. Each Room had its own outdoor seating area.
Review 19:The room was not very big and quite dark , only one window, luckily, we had good weather and left our door open. nice little seating area outside the room.
Review 20:Hotel is 5 minutes walk from Cirencester centre and within driving distance of Gloucester, Cheltenham and many more beautiful places
Review 21:Wifi didn't really work in the room.
Review 22:Free parking, a decent sized breakfast included and clean comfortable rooms. The owners were very kind and gave everyone tips about the area in the morning.
Review 23:the fact that we only stayed one night!
Review 24:the room was very comfortable and clean, the owners were very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, location was good, short walk into Cirencester overall it was brilliant.
Review 25:The room which was the one upstairs in the roof was a little lacking in facilities. No dressing table or mirror so had to use the mirror in the bathroom which was too low so had to stoop down to see into it. Shower cubicle wasn't very clean but shower was hot and powerful.
Review 26:Very friendly staff and comfortable bed. Breakfast was lovely.
Review 27:The very mini bathroom, and at 85 I do need a mat in the shower to avoid slipping - especially when I wash my feet!
Review 28:A ground floor room, with our car parked just outside.
Review 29:Nothing really. Everything suited us as all we needed was a comfortable place to spend the nights after out drives and walks around Cotswolds. I will recommend this place.
Review 30:The location is ideal as a base for Cotswolds. The inn has a private car park which is a big advantage. The room was clean and well done. All in all a comfortable stay with excellent breakfast included in the room tariff.
Review 31:Arrival access and signage was unduly irritating. My wife is blind and access to the upstairs unit was a bit difficult. I would rate our stay as a bit over priced.
Review 32:We liked the hosts and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 33:Bedroom door very difficult to lock. Seemed to be locked but wasn't if you pushed the door. It was going to be adjusted.
Review 34:Good bedroom with en-suite adjacent to car-park so very convenient and accessible at all times when you have your key. Reception open during pub hours but contact and help is available. Welcoming and helpful staff.
Review 35:Room ok, bed reasonably comfortable. Breakfast was between 8 and 9 as the cook had to start the lunches after that. Very poor presented food. The fresh fruit consisted of finely sliced kiwi and satsuma segments. The yogurt you had to get out of a large plastic you hurt tub.Bacon on the full English had thick pieces which you get when you purchase the cheap packs. The cook came out of the kitchen looking not too clean.
Review 36:The location
Review 37:Disappointed to find the room was a little chilly when we arrived at 8pm. We had called ahead to say when we would arrive and thought the radiator could have been put on to warm the room. The bed was too soft for our liking but this may suit others!
Review 38:The location was perfect for walking into Cirencester and owners kindly let us leave our car in the car park after we had checked out. The staff were very welcoming and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 39:A baby changing table in the pub would be useful. Did not pick up wifi in the room.
Review 40:Good location. Friendly staff. Rooms were basic but clean and comfortable. Baby cot provided.
Review 41:The room smelt slightly dusty, the bed was ver uncomfortable and the room as a result is over priced when compared to other places in town
Review 42:Good location and hosts very welcoming and accommodating! as below just a slight improvement on cleanliness of rooms needed.
Review 43:1 piilowcase a bit musty - quite clean but needed to be dried more quickly, probably. Anyway I was in 2-bed room so I just switched it, no problem
Review 44:Cheerful owners Top class breakfast with fresh fruit and ready to cook whatver you wanted. Free range eggs An ancient beam could be glimpsed - authentic!
Review 45:Great location very close to town, incredibly friendly and accomodating owners, beer a bit pricey but food reasonable and lots of options, lots home cooked. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a lovely couple of nights.
Review 46:Wider choice of red wine but this is just my personal preference.
Review 47:The owners! Ann and David were such great hosts! Very friendly and were always so accommodating. I love the fact that the pub was just literally on my doorstep. The room was also very cosy and clean. This has to be the best b&b I have ever stayed in. Highly recommend it to other travellers.
Review 48:The shower could be better but it would not stop me from staying there again.
Review 49:Great welcome my friend and I got there late but the Talbot Inn were great and even had the heating on in the room so we would not be cold when we got there. Produce used for breakfast excellent, great night sleep and lovely staff.
Review 50:There was water left in the electric kettle.
Review 51:The room was a converted stable with private entry. The design of the room was simple, fresh and light. Comfy twin beds with nice pillows and bedding. We booked last minute and arrived late. They were still able to offer us dinner and a drink at the bar. Hosts were lovely. Full English breakfast was very nice.
Review 52:The weather, though the Talbot was not responsible.
Review 53:The staff were very helpful, and the food much better than we expected, the liver and onions were excellent. The Talbot is only a short walk to the middle of the amazing Cirencester. Well worth a visit, and to stay at the Talbot.
Review 54:Shower head was not easy to direct. Extractor fan in bathroom was very noisy and went on for ever.
Review 55:Nice clean and quiet court yard room. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Local beer was excellent. Easy parking.
Review 56:We especially appreciated the warm welcome. The breakfast was excellent. The hosts were very helpful when we had some questions about our travel to the next city. They really went out of their way to help.
Review 57:We were disappointed that not many people were taking advantage of the good food when we were there.
Review 58:Really good home cooking by the lady of the house her husband knew how to look after the beer and her son was an efficient barman. They were all very welcoming.
Review 59:We were pleasantly surprised at how close to town this was, a few hundred yards from the traffic lights at the quiet end of the High Street, so really only 5-10 minutes into the centre, allowing for looking in shop windows. Everything was adequate & comfy. Not 5 star, but thats not what we paid for. Would definately use again as a base for going out and about in this lovely area of Britain.
Review 60:Bathroom needs a couple of repairs to shower and washbasin plug had no chain, difficult to remove when emptying.
Review 61:The food was fantastic and cooked fresh.
Review 62:Nothing really.
Review 63:Very warm welcome and hospitable host. We would stay there again if we were in the vacinity. They couldn't have done more for us especially as we nearley missed breakfast as the beds are so comfy !!
Review 64:Single beds must be near replacement. Not very comfortable.
Review 65:Adequate parking. Some rooms on the ground floor. Free Wi-fi. Friendly and obliging staff. Great breakfast. Clean. Nice towels!
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:All, even I needed a taxi to go to Kemble Station and didn't get it. Ann, the owner, dropped me at the station by driving her own car and free.
Review 68:Our room smelt a bit damp as did the pillows. We sprayed perfume on them to take away the smell. I think we accepted this as the rooms were converted barns. It did not in any way hamper or spoil our visit and we would go there again.
Review 69:I liked the location of the inn - so very close that you could walk in to Cirencester which was a bonus for my 85 year old Mom. Breakfasts were excellent - I wasn't expecting such a good cooked breakfast.
Review 70:Cramped washing/shaving facilities. Not particularly good "value for money" re facilities & price. Would look elsewhere if visiting area another time.
