Reviews for Hotel La Tour Birmingham

Review 1:Breakfast was not included in the price We had a drink in the bar and was charged £9 for a glass of prosseco you can buy a bottle for that Would stay again but no drinks !

Review 2:Good all round

Review 3:Nothing bad.

Review 4:Good location, close to shopping centre. Staff very helpful and room was spotless. Hotel is very modern and everything you need. Would definitely stay again and would recommend this hotel.

Review 5:Fairly expensive for drink and food.

Review 6:Hotel was lovely and clean. Really quick and smooth check in and out. Perfect location!!! Definitely recommend. Live music in the bar on the Friday night we stayed, the woman was amazing!

Review 7:No instructions on the way to use audio machine The stuff wasn't working Bar menu different price to room service prices Unclean in certain places Staff didn't come to help when we was struggling with audio machine even though we rang 5 times

Review 8:Was in a good area Atmosphere nice

Review 9:No vegetarian option at breakfast. Waitress suggested that I have tomatoes, mushrooms n hash browns. Worst was the dreadful signal. Lost a lot of time not being able to do my work .When I checked out receptionist never even inquired to my stay ...its new you want all the feedback you can get xxxx

Review 10:Lovely decor and great facilities

Review 11:Restaruant was a disappointment since it changed. Higher prices with lower quality food.

Review 12:Rooms, shower, comfirtable bed. Helpful staff. Nice bar area, nice restaurant atmosphere, good breakfast.

Review 13:We came there as 4 engineers from abroad. We had 2 double rooms to stay during our business trip. The WiFi DID NOT work during our whole stay and the manager of the hotel told me to go outside to search for it, because "it's not their fault that it's not working". We had dinner with our business partner in the restaurant (9 people) and we asked to switch on additional lights as it was too dark to read the menu - the service told us that they can't do it, even though our British colleagues were insisting and there were additional lamps in the ceiling... All we got was a flashlight to read the menu. Also the shower tray was leaking - somehow it managed to flood half of my room during a short shower. Thank God the corridor was in ceramics! We got no discount for not having wireless that was supposed to be there and necessity to use roaming data transfer for all 4 of us while we had to work on our stuff. Definitely NOT a place to stay for 120£/night per room.

Review 14:Good location.

Review 15:Didn't like the bed was two singles pushed together. I booked the executive suite. Was the same as every other room in the hotel. Nothing executive about It.

Review 16:Food available 24 hours

Review 17:Tiny rooms and very expensive for such small space

Review 18:Staff are amazing seriously the best thing about this place. Rooms are tiny though for what you pay! But very clean

Review 19:the overpriced food of a below average standard. the uncomfortable beds comprised of 2 mattresses pushed together, the unhelpfulness of the staff on arrival, the out of order doors, the disorganised restaurant staff that messed up our room service order so badly it took over an hour to rectify and at least 1 trip downstairs. £60 for 1 bottle of wine, a starter and a soup!

Review 20:the location

Review 21:The pipes in the bathroom made a really loud noise not sure if it was related to the room above or just a problem on site. Also the bed was not the most comfortable bed.

Review 22:staff were absouloutly amazing, very helpful and polite. Also restaurant on site which was also a treat. The hotel was very clean.

Review 23:When we arrived both girls on reception had very poor and heavily-accented English, making communication very difficult.

Review 24:New and modern, stylish and very comfortable with exceptionally well-trained staff.

Review 25:The breakfast was good and had a wide range to choose but I thought it was slightly over priced at £14.95. On arrival the hotel car park was full, the receptionist reccomemnded to park at the moor street car park which was a 3/4 min walk down the road. It was ok and a safe car park, just a shame I couldn't park in the hotel itself.

Review 26:Really nice, clean hotel. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was very nice and had a wide range to choose from. The rooms are very spacious and clean. I really liked the modern theme and would definatley stay again. The bed was comfortable, and the rooms had everything you need. Thankyou for a lovely stay.

Review 27:The most comfortable sleep in a hotel ever!! Felt upmarket and a special treat for an overnight stay. Great breakfast too. Beautifully decorated for Christmas.

Review 28:The bed was so uncomfortable I could sleep me and my parent was wide wake at 3 in the morning as thinking off leaving hotel.

Review 29:The size off the room as good and the shower was amazing

Review 30:Computer system failed several times while there and delayed check in and use of phone and computerised systems in room was intermittent. Bedroom temperature was cool and bathroom cold floor even when heating on full.

Review 31:Modern clean hotel. Breakfast very nice.

Review 32:The reception staff could have been a little more informative and friendlier on arrival.

Review 33:The location was great. The room was clean and the general hotel was well decorated.

Review 34:On this occassion we were dissappointed with the service in the new Mr White's restaurant, service was slow, even though the restaurant was not particularly busy and the cost for a meal for 4 adults was not reflected in the price. We felt the restaurant is over rated, does not portray value for money, service standards need to improve. We ate over 3 days in Mr Whites as friends were visiting and on each occassion we felt that the meal was not 'value for money'. We hope that as the restaurant has only recently opened, it may improve with time, but unfortunately I would not chose to eat in this restaurant on our next stay at La Tour in february.

Review 35:We regularly stay at this Hotel as we value the excellent standards as well as good customer service.

Review 36:Information about parking would of been good before we actually paid to park elsewhere

Review 37:The location was excellent staff were helpful and very responsive. Food excellent.

Review 38:Was a mess up with the room as they didn't have us booked in so as we had requested a certain room with booking .com it was no longer available when we got there

Review 39:Lovely clean place

Review 40:Disappointed stay, media hub was not working, the room was very very cold and caught a cold at the night of the stay (manager said it can only go up to 26 degrees...), there's only one shower gel and one shampoo provided for the bathroom. didn't feel like I was staying at 4 stars tbh

Review 41:Location

Review 42:breakfast was amazing with lots of choices furnished to a very high standard and very close to the bullring (city centre) reception staff was excellent and very friendly

Review 43:Immediate view was of construction sites, but a lot of Birmingham is like that at the moment!

Review 44:All the details had been thought of. Whizzy controls for lights etc in the rooms too.

Review 45:First door from lift wedged open ?security void ,had several cocktails which were very good but got ignored when olives and nuts were handed out at bar ,shower leaked over floor

Review 46:Hi tec

Review 47:We were in room 603 and had to change rooms at 01.00 in the morning as we had a constant buzzing sound we were unable to sleep. We were changed to room 443. This was dealt with straight away. But it was just the up heavile at that time of the morning.

Review 48:The staff were very friendly. Rooms were nice and clean. food in restaurant lovely.

Review 49:Reviewed yesterday NEWMy wife and I stayed here for a weekend shopping break in December, the location is ideal only a few hundred Yards to all the major shops and Birmingham's Bullring.A couple of days before our stay we were asked if we would like to upgrade our room. The prices seemed fairly reasonable as they were half the normal cost. It would have been nice if this was done for free, however we can't be greedy. The room we had was a suite on the third floor, fantastic we though,t as we entered the room. Great furnishings and facilities even a TV over the bath! However what we didn't realize was we were directly over the main function room. The first night music from a disco went on until 1pm. then the second night a wedding reception had a band until 12pm then a disco until 1pm. Unfortunately I don't want to be a party pooper but when you are away for a shopping break weekend you don't wont to be laying awake until 1pm each night listening to music thumping through the walls. Why they didn't put the disco party or the wedding guests at this end of the hotel rather than guests such as ourselves I'm not sure. On the Sunday morning I overheard other guest on our floor complaining about the noise. Come on Hotel La Tour think about this, as you may be losing guests for a second time visit. I know it also may seem a petty thing but I advised the hotel before we stayed that it was also my wife's birthday this weekend. Which is one of the reasons I agreed to the upgrade of room. However other than a small handwritten card in our room nothing was ever mentioned again. It would have been nice to at least have had a small gesture recognizing her birthday like most other hotels do. A small one person cake perhaps after our meal or something like that fruit bowl in the room maybe. On our first night we had a meal in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. The food was fantastic albeit a limited choice menu.

Review 50:We were given a disabled room with a fully adapted bathroom. Neither of us was disabled so this was a little odd - for an able-bodied person, the shower was cramped and the wash basin was at the wrong height.

Review 51:Hotel is very warm and air/con is slow. MPW restaurant was disappointing

Review 52:The staff are warm and very helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the showers are excellent.

Review 53:Bar is very expensive for drinks and they take forever to serve even when there is no queue Bed was soo uncomfortable - air con did not work, so hot in the room Your not allowed to check in until 3pm but u have to check out at 11am

Review 54:The games room was good, 2 pool tables Bar was very nice

Review 55:When we booked in there was confusion over our booking. Not a good start to our weekend. Staff couldn't find our booking, we booked 2 rooms for 2 couples and our friends had arrived early and booked in and when we arrived it had over-ride our name on their system. We were waiting for them to work it out for sometime. We also told them when checking out that we were paying for the booking, so when our friends decided to leave early the next day, the staff asked them to pay. The shower in the room was lukewarm.

Review 56:Location, not too far to travel to.

Review 57:Neither computer for express check in was working. Shame about the view (construction works) but I suppose there's not much you can do about that.

Review 58:Room was clean and modern. Breakfast was lovely, great choice. Liked the area where you could sit to read a paper or have a coffee. Staff were polite. We were able to put our suitcase in a locked room while we went out, (this was prior to the room being ready for 3pm). I like the extra security touch, having to use your card to touch in to enter each floor.

Review 59:It was so busy in the bar we couldn't have a bar meal and therefore had to go out again - I had called to check that we would be able to get a bar meal & it might have been an idea to tell us that you had Christmas parties booked in - not the end of the world though

Review 60:The staff were excellent, the room was lovely and clean, spacious and modern - the breakfast was fabulous

Review 61:There wasn't anything I didn't like, just thought that the main shower head could have been a little more powerful and a few more toiletries in the bathroom would have been nice.

Review 62:Loved having a room on the 7th floor and the huge comfortable bed. Also loved the restaurant.

Review 63:Hard mattress, difficult to sleep Shower wet room drainage blocked, floods bathroom and in to bed room. 20% discount on the price given. Very expensive restaurant, limited choice. V limited bathroom toiletries

Review 64:Contemporary look Good sized bed room Food especially breakfast, and steak excellent quality

Review 65:Bar staff rather slapdash - we waited a long long time to get a sandwich and drink when we arrived back at the hotel around 1030pm - even though the bar wasn't busy.

Review 66:Great location in the centre of Birmingham, close to main shops. Also has own parking. Not cheap, but facilities etc are first class.

Review 67:Late night munchies. The sandwiches were unbuttered, hardly any tuna. The cheese were small sections of the slices available at breakfast. The chips however, were superb.

Review 68:Everything, pretty much.

Review 69:My room was a connecting room and i could hear every movement and conversation of my neighbors, No minibar available.

Review 70:Very modern hotel. Food was very good.

Review 71:I asked for a quiet room and it was however there was a terribly loud noise coming from below our room on several occasions until midnight. Wouldn't want that room again. No.227!

Review 72:The decor was modern and stylist and immaculately clean.

Review 73:Revolving door is too slow & stops every few seconds, annoying. Marco Pierre White pictures are everywhere, overkill, not necessary.

Review 74:Room decor lovely. Huge shower just like home. Impressive overall minimalist look in reception & bar area. On par with any good hotel in the capital without London prices.

Review 75:The parking is a bit of a pain, if there is space in the car park it's fine but the pay & display opposite only let's you pay until midnight, better to park in selfridges.

Review 76:The location as very convenient for the shopping centres & easy to find when travelling by car. It's a beautiful hotel, with kind & helpful staff.

Review 77:Nothing, however as in many hotels you notice that the staff work very long hours, and wonder if this is so they can make enough to live on.

Review 78:Location was excellent for the shops. Very clean and nicely decorated hotel. Good breakfast and bar service.

Review 79:Didn't realise that the room would have a shower only and not a bath

Review 80:Hotel in a fantastic location for the Bullring, excellent staff and lovely rooms. Breakfast had everything you could wish for

Review 81:Reception IT failed and I was in a long queue as they could not book us in. Noise affecting room taken in second floor 228 from under that room (possibly restaurant) did not stop until midnight and started again 6am The drinks at the bar are expensive

Review 82:The rooms are excellent the design of the hotel is very comfortable and welcoming . I loved the decoration. Lovely staff despite the IT issue - very apologetic about the room and confirmed they would report it to management.

Review 83:The beds were uncomfortable for my liking and the price of simple drinks such as a pint of Stella Artois in the hotel bar was ridiculous

Review 84:The hotel is very well kept and clean

Review 85:Nothing much to fault the hotel with if I had to be picky the car park is not the biggest but this isn't an issue with plenty of parking on both sides of the hotel.

Review 86:Great central location for all the shops, theatres and bars. The hotel lounge is a great place to relax with a bite to eat and a drink. Staff and service is excellent. Looking forward to return visit.

Review 87:Quality of some of the buffet breakfast food (bacon & eggs) could improve On a personal note we found bed hard - but other couple didn't If a couple were staying more than two nights wardrobe space is limited

Review 88:Location - easy to drive to, easy access to city & railways stations Staff were polite & helpful Hotel spotless Parking (off site - recommended by hotel) was very good & easy to get to Marco Pierre White restaurant recently opened - very good meal

Review 89:We ate in the new restaurant. Not good for vegetarians, which we anticipated, but the mushroom and macaroni main was very underwhelming. Excellent service however.

Review 90:Very comfortable room. Despite being centrally located in Birmingham, it was quiet. The decor is modern and impressive. Friendly, welcoming staff.

Review 91:Website advertises car park but it is extremely small, open and unsecured. We turned up and there was no spaces left. Walls are very thin, heard a man grunting for a while!

Review 92:Bar was a reasonable price, comfy beds, great location and lots of complimentary drinks in room.

Review 93:Had a fabulous stay here room was excellent everything we needed only down fall with room was it could have done with bigger shampoo and shower gels, the breakfast was superb best breakfast we have had in a hotel the sausages where delicious

Review 94:Minor niggles (i.e couldn't empty bath) and a bit of a disaster in restaurant on last night mean't wife and I ate seperately even though at same table! They did apologise and make recompense though - just spoiled the occasion.

Review 95:Location and a nice room though had to wait for it. First meal in restaurant was nice. Is a comfortable hotel. Would stay again

Review 96:We've stayed at this hotel before and for us it is in a perfect location for our shopping trip. Very modern and comfortable, good choice at breakfast. Young lady on reception was very pleasant.

Review 97:Beautiful clean hotel , staff smart and very friendly & helpful. Would love to stay again and would recommend to friends, family or people travelling to Birmingham. There was a young lad singing in the bar on the Saturday night, his voice was brilliant he is definitely worth a listen!!

Review 98:When we stayed last year there was an extensive 'cocktail menu! To our dismay this was much shorter and none if them appealed unlike last year!!

Review 99:Convenience to Moor Street Station, Bull Ring and Grand Central for starters! Wonderful staff always smiling and happy to help

Review 100:Although the staff levels were good, service was patchy. Some staff were excellent and very attentive others rarely smiled or spoke. This did not include the cleaning and bedroom staff who always spoke and always smiled.

Review 101:Comfort layout facilities

Review 102:We dined in the restaurant, the service and food was poor. We did complain to the manager but this seemed to fall on deaf ears. Not value for money at all. Would expect more from a Marco Pierre White franchise!!!!! Unfortunately would not stay again.

Review 103:Hotel very modern and in a good location.

Review 104:The staff was very unfriendly and unhelpful when we came in too check in . The was no breakfast with the room which was what we booked and the lady on the reception wasn't willing to do anything or explain as to why . The hotel is very over priced for one night stay especially with the staff been so rude .

Review 105:I liked where the hotel was located and the layout of the room

Review 106:The bed was really comfy as hotel beds go and there was no shortage of full length mirrors. I loved that we had the option to dim the lights and change the heating setting.

Review 107:The last time we ate here had a lovely meal with great service and we were really looking forward to returning. The restaurant has since been taken over by Marco Pierre White :-( We had a very poor quality meal, fraught with issues, and it was very poor value for the money.

Review 108:I liked everything, there was nothing to dislike.

Review 109:Large, warm, plush, calm, friendly, welcoming hotel. The restaurant was very good too. Attentive staff and amazing food - a great start to our evening.

Review 110:I would like a bathroom where a shower cap is provided. For two people staying in a room for a weekend the shower gel should be replaced, we want to shower! Parsimonious!!! Would be good to have a draw for one's underwear, I like to unpack.

Review 111:The staff were delightful. The room was spacious and quiet.

Review 112:Poor shower and a TV in the bath that was angled incorrectly, meaning you couldn't actually see it when having a bath. VERY complication and OTT room technology. Just add a light switch!

Review 113:Good location, wonderful staff.

Review 114:Again staff just not developed enough in organisation/customer service the 4 girls on reception all lovely and friendly but it took over 20mins to check in .. one girl busy all the time sorting one customer's group dinner booking - at least I think that was what it was , whilst we had to wait for the other booking desk to be free . The third desk was not working. As said reception girls very pleasant just seemed to lack direction no one really taking charge . also we had trouble with the safe it took 2 calls to reception over a period of an hour to get some up to sort out

Review 115:A beautiful hotel really high standard

Review 116:We liked how modern it was, the card access on each floor, the touch screen facilities, our names on the tv, the audio system in the bathroom, the size of the shower, how comfy the bed was. Amazing room.

Review 117:Staff- poorly trained & disinterested. Poor management. Bad communication. Very small bedrooms. Pointless. They're cutting corners.

Review 118:won't go back.

Review 119:When I arrived I was informed the hotel car park was closed for maintenance but this wasn't on website which I'd looked at the day before my arrival. I had a temporary disablement but they wouldn't allow me to park outside the front of hotel for the one night stay. I was then left to find alternative parking in the middle of Birmingham and walk back to hotel with luggage and walking stick. Although the food in restaurant was very good there was a very long wait for every course and the organisation of staff and service in the restaurant was shambolic. We brought this up with reception in morning and they said it was due to new staff in restaurant. Had they told us this when we sat down in restaurant we would have been far more understanding and patient because we've all had to learn at some point. On the hotel website they advertise an open kitchen but this isn't the case, it does have misted glass doors but unless sitting directly outside the kitchen and all doors open it would never be an open kitchen. We were compensated for the disruption within the restaurant and an apology so I'm sure if we returned the service would be greatly improved.

Review 120:Location was great and one of the reasons I chose this hotel was because it had onsite parking. The room was clean and comfortable with a nice bathroom. Onsite restaurant meant we didn't have to go out at night and the food was lovely. Comfortable bar area and bright open reception area downstairs. Very near Bullring shopping centre and all amenities. I liked that they had a smoking are outside the bar on a balcony so you didn't have to go outside the front of hotel.

Review 121:We liked having the option to go for a pre-check in upgrade and were very happy with our upgraded room, which was clean, modern and comfortable. We also enjoyed a great afternoon tea in the bar area and appreciated the gluten free menu which meant my partner could enjoy the food as much as I could. Hotel staff were very helpful. A great overnight stay!

Review 122:There was nothing I didn't like, the only criticism I have is I think the rooms are a little expensive for what you get.

Review 123:Staff were helpful, room was clean and location of the hotel was easy to get too.

Review 124:The one negative was the fact the double bed was two single beds pushed together, meaning all of the middle of the bed was too uncomfortable to lie in, so we had to lie on opposite sides of the bed! I slept in the middle by accident in the night and woke up with a really sore back.

Review 125:The hotel itself was stunning, as was the room . The shower was the best part of the room as it was huge! The rest of the room was lovely - great drink making facilities, TV, toiletries, even the sink in the bathroom was stylish.

Review 126:Nothing. I like it all!

Review 127:I love this hotel! We have stayed before and it is always our number 1 choice when we stay in Birmingham. The location is perfect, the staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and the beds are very comfortable.

Review 128:The Broken revolving door nobody ever bothered fixing for 11 days, asking me every morning that how I would like to pay for the breakfast even when I had made a payment long ago, sink water leak and the worst bit was the rude cleaning lady.I asked for a late checkout and the lady banged on my door. VERY RUDE

Review 129:The Room and the Receptionist

Review 130:Staff was friendly, but didn't personalize my experience in any way. Bathroom was a bit sterile.

Review 131:Excellent looking room, modern, clean, great view.

Review 132:The food in the restaurant was a trifle heavy handed - salad overdressed, chips over salty, generally over seasoned.

Review 133:Lovely hotel - very pleasant staff. Very comfortable I enjoyed my stay very much.

Review 134:Not really a bad experience but I would have expected a hotel with such high quality fittings to have Soft Close Toilet Seat as standard

Review 135:extremely modern well appointed hotel with high tech gadgetry.Ideal location for Bull Ring and transport links to this area.

Review 136:Very loud party going on on the Saturday until 4 am not able to sleep. When we complained the staff were attentive.

Review 137:Clean rooms and other areas and kind staff

Review 138:I wish one could open the window for fresh air. What is with all these high-tech gadgets? I would be fine with traditional, easy controls. Setting the AC for constant temperature - mystery. Freezing all night. Light operation on a touchscreen phone - why? Water temperature keeps changing in approx one minute cycles. No luggage tray, hard bed. Did not sleep well, but I guess it' s a matter of individual preference.

Review 139:Excellent staff, very helpful, precise and friendly delivering a professional service with attention to detail. Superb breakfast, very clean, modern hotel. Free wifi in good speed and signal. Good location, elegant design. Fair price. Soft carpets in corridors (love ´em). Iron and board, hairdrier in room, coffe, tea, water free of charge. Smart elevator noise cancelation.
