Reviews for Medlar Cottage

Review 1:Whole experience was good. Breakfast was excellent. Even the views from the bedroom were excellent! A place we would recommend to anyone without hesitation.

Review 2:Location - (6 minutes from train by taxi); beautiful country like setting. Genuinely nice owners - Tony and Jenny. Short taxi drive to Arundel Castle. Enjoyed the breakfast - great start to the day.

Review 3:*long stairway to go to the room *mattress too much soft (this means cheap/low quality) *no heavy curtains (the light is coming inside the room really early in the morning!) *price high (same as a B&B in London) but we are in the country!

Review 4:*Nice place *Owners very friendly *Best breakfast we had in a UK B&B *Clean

Review 5:The large grandfather clock in the entrance hall can be heard in the bedroom when it chimes every hour, so could disrupt light sleepers!

Review 6:Very welcoming, accommodating couple, warm cosy room and great breakfasts!!

Review 7:it's kind of hard to find at night as the sign is very small and the gps gives the goal after the street turns around. However the neighbours are nice and seem to know the problem.

Review 8:The elderly couple is very lovely and knows much about the area. The breakfast was amazing! Really a nice and personal stay you can have.

Review 9:It was difficult to find - and if you missed the turnoff (which hadn't much warning) you had to drive 10 miles to turn around. The room was a bit swashy - wish there had been more room around the bed.

Review 10:Lovely hosts who were most helpful. Great personalized breakfast Delightful country location - once you found it. Bathroom was thoughtfully appointed

Review 11:Nothing.

Review 43:The couple who ran it were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Like home from home and the breakfast was first class. Beautiful views from our room and so peaceful. Will defo stay again

Review 44:We were given a very warm welcome when we arrived. We were offered a cup of tea after a long journey and our hosts went out of their way to be helpful (this kindness and thoughtfulness remained throughout our stay). The breakfast was lovely and all products were of the highest standard. There was a choice of cereal, fruit and yoghurt or a wide variety of choices if a cooked breakfast was required. We would never hesitate to go there again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:Tony & Jenny were amazing hosts and couldn't have done more for us. Tony was very helpful in helping us find a local place to eat, as we had arrived quite late, and their flexibility with us returning when we were ready felt very homely. The room was lovely, relaxing and comfortable with tea & coffee, a range of books and a TV. the bathroom was lovely, airy and very clean. The views of the garden were amazing. Breakfast was wonderful, and again our hosts could not do enough for us. All in all, highly recommended and our sincere thanks to Tony & Jenny.

Review 47:Nothing!

Review 48:- wonderful owners, that greeted us with a cup of tea as soon as we arrived - wonderful view of the garden from the window - our room had a very large bathroom directly across the hall with a bathtub - The full english breakfast was delicious - nice comfortable room - whole house was absolutly spotless

Review 49:There wasn't anything that we didn't like about this b&b.

Review 50:We enjoyed our stay immensely, from the warm welcome to the great breakfast selection including home made jams. The room was large and clean, with views overlooking the countryside, there were a variety of board games, information about the area, reading books and a selection dvd's. The owners were very hospitable and made you feel very at home during our stay.

Review 51:There are no pubs or restaurants in Poling, therefore guests do reallyneed a car to get around.Road access to/from Medlar Cottage is via a hazardous exit off of/onto the busy/high speed A27.Our rooms did not have the 'far reaching views over the countryside' mentioned on one of the pages of the owners' own web site, just a view over their car parking area and relatively small front garden.Although well equipped, our bedroom and en suite were both quite small compared to other B & B's we have stayed at in this area/price bracket. The furniture and fabrics in the bedroom were mismatched and somewhat dated, while there were also a few cobwebs on the bedroom ceiling when we arrived. The en suite has a locked door that backs on to the owners’ kitchen, so, obviously, if the owners are in the kitchen they can hear every noise their guests make in the shower/W.C. room. Meanwhile, the breakfast room is directly next to the ground floor bedroom, therefore guests having breakfast can hear guests in the bedroom - and vice versa. The 'cooked' option we chose as the main part of our breakfast - the fishcakes - were served without any accompaniments so were pretty insubstantial. (Even more so in our case as they only had 3 fishcakes left so we were only able to have 1&1/2 each rather than the usual 2 they say they normally serve).Following breakfast, the owners gave us permission to use our Netbook on their breakfast table so that we could answer our e-mails (as there was no table in our bedroom we could use). However, a short time after we had started to answer our e-mails, one of the owners came in and asked us if we thought we were going to be long. We advised him that we would - as we had only just started answering our e-mails.

Review 52:Medlar Cottage is in a quiet semi-rural location.Although narrower than we are used to, the double bed was comfortable and we slept well.

Review 53:Nothing to dislike - we liked everything

Review 54:Pleasant friendly hosts, very welcoming Our 4th visit, which speaks for itself Lovely room, comfortable, well furnished and immaculately clean Fantastic breakfast with lots of choice (including veggie) Bascially, we liked absolutely everything!

Review 55:Not being able to check-in until 4pm.

Review 56:The owners of Medlar Cottage couldn't do enough for us. Very helpful. Breakfast was very enjoyable and accommodation very clean and tidy.

Review 57:Our stay was too short!

Review 58:Both Jenny and Tony were wonderful hosts. There was an excellent choice of breakfasts, all cooked to our liking and always the question "would you like anything else"! The location and the house were lovely, being close to Arundel and we thoroughly enjoyed our break.
