Reviews for The Mount Hotel
Review 1:Gluten free bread was available for breakfast... Which is great, but it was mouldy which was not. The staff were very apologetic though.
Review 2:Staff were all very friendly and the rooms were very comfortable. Good selection for breakfast and we had an evening meal, which was very good indeed.
Review 3:N/a
Review 4:All the staff from when you first enter this magnificent building until the time you leave really do put them selves out to make sure that your stay is perfect but should you experience any problems whether it be big or small just ask reception and they will get it sorted.
Review 5:Night Bar Man Struggled A Bit With Correct Glasses for Drinks & Just Swilled Out 2 Dirty Tumblers & Tried To Serve Them To Me Until I Pulled Him On It
Review 6:Will stay again. We Had A Stunning Suite and will brings friends from Down South Too. It was For 1 Night & We Didnt Get To Really Enjoy The Place As We Went Elsewhere For Dinner
Review 7:The breakfast was OK but only average. The bacon was hard and tasteless, the sausage was poor quality and the mushrooms were greasy and very soft. I don't really enjoy breakfasts where food is kept warm!
Review 8:Breakfast - service was very poor, only 2 staff for the whole room. Food was poor especially the eggs! And they don't let you have your own teapot - tea is served for you and was over-brewed for my taste
Review 9:Room was comfortable and well appointed. Hotel had some lovely features. Good location.
Review 10:Worst nights sleep we have ever had, the bed was so hard it was unbearable.
Review 11:The hotel is within walking distance of my family, this is the only reason we use this hotel.
Review 12:The room could of done with a bit of a re-decoration.
Review 13:The food was very good both evening and breakfast. I can recommend the Rib eye steak. I had room 50 on the top floor of the main building, it was very large.
Review 14:Everything about the hotel exceeded my expectations especially as it was such good value for money. The staff were so friendly and helpful! The room was beautiful, clean and very comfortable. There was plenty of choice for breakfast and it tasted good too. Would love to visit again. Would highly recommend!
Review 15:Room in attic in dire need of a face lift, very disappointing, sub-standard for money paid. Wait for dinner last night unsatisfactory especially as we had pre-booked.
Review 16:Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food good.
Review 17:Went to the Bar for pre dinner drinks 2 Aunts wanted sweet sherry and I wanted a Campari soda. No Sherry at all and barman didn't know what a Campari Soda was! So we said we would just have wine with our dinner. We were not down as having booked despite having booked at reception, young man found us a table and after 15 mins I asked for some wine as he didn't offer drinks, it took another 15 mins to come! The meal when it arrived was very good but service appalling, poor guy was on his own and not very organised. He was very apologetic but I could see another group having to wait for service and looked like business men so not a good impression for the. hotel. Breakfast was good and staff pleasant and helpful . I would book the hotel again but may consider eating out unless there is an improvement in the dining room service.
Review 18:Hotel was clean and rooms spacious and comfortable
Review 19:The bar was not accommodating to residents after a certain time. The poor sole bar man Melbourne Ferguson was very under pressure from the residents whom had been enjoying their christmas party. Once the staff at reception agreed to keep the bar open after being asked to by the residents there was no help or assistance offered to the bar person, whom was left to handle the customers alone.
Review 20:The room was in the courtyard area of the hotel and had a real private feel. Was beautifully decorated and very comfortable.
Review 21:Bed: really uncomfortable i could feel the springs, shame as the rest they had spot on shame that they don't renew their matresses
Review 22:Shower :amazing Tv:good Staff:i think her name is annie really helpful and pleasant
Review 23:Double bed on the small side. Some areas need updating. Long queue to check in with only one person on check in.
Review 24:Nice old building with character. We had a large room.
Review 25:The bed. It just isn't comfortable - a shame because everything else was very good.
Review 26:Friendly staff and quiet room. Great facilities and decent wifi. Breakfast was plentiful.
Review 27:Whilst the first week was good the second week was appalling. Christmas parties with residents running up and down corridors banging on doors til 6.30AM meant I had no sleep. Reception refused to deal with it and even put the phone on me after shouting at me. Duty Manager, although understanding and pleasant was powerless to do anything about it.
Review 28:Stayed here a few times on business, very pleasant hotel in great surroundings. Comfortable rooms and good food/bar.
Review 29:The tables at breakfast were very close together. Not much room to get up and down to collect your breakfast.
Review 30:Tea and coffee topped up whenever you wanted at breakfast.
Review 31:Breakfast on Monday morning was execrable, after a complaint the duty manager apologised and refunded fifty per cent of the breakfast cost. This hotel is recovering after decades of neglect. It still has a very long way to go.
Review 32:We stayed overnight on Sunday 22nd November after a celebratory lunch. The meal for about fifty people was outstanding.
Review 33:The single room was very comfortable but the location overlooked the bar and it was a bit noisy until about midnight.
Review 34:I always enjoy the venue and the quality of the service. The staff are the greatest asset of the hotel.
Review 35:Lovely old Manor House, restored to a high standard. Our bedroom was in the new wing and was modern with a lovely good sized bathroom and walk in shower.
Review 36:Warm water served at dinner, with only 1 ice cube. When we pointed this out the waiter insisted there was already ice in it
Review 37:Comfortable old style charm. Very competent and friendly barman (Melborne)
Review 38:Restaurant staff not customer focused. They are attentive but at wrong time. "How's your meal Sir." But forget things. "Would you like a steak knife sir? "Yes when I got my steak but it almost eaten".
Review 39:All staff went out of their way to accommodate our every need. We felt well looked after for the entire stay and all staff were understanding of our individual requirements and did all they could to support us to make our stay more comfortable. All staff welcomed us at all times which added to the experience.
Review 40:Bedroom 36 small pieces of wallpaper hanging off the wall .Door frame allowing, quite a fair amount of light into room from outside corridor, which disturbed our sleep.
Review 41:Staff very welcoming, bar and reception area very good. Breakfast first class..
Review 42:When we arrived we was told that we had no booking - despite that I had the confirmation from booking.com - I would like to know why so I can have confidence in future site bookings please.
Review 43:Cleanliness, nice setting and luckily enough a spare room!!!!
Review 44:Breakfast is taken in a barn-like room, making it a rather cold experience. Information about local points of interest is woefully lacking, and there is not any real information about the house itself except the blue plaque outside.
Review 45:The cleanliness, and the very helpful and friendly staff.
Review 46:Bedrooms not soundproofed ! Light went off in bathroom without warning. Heaters locked so no control over room temperature. Mander room was rather bleak for breakfast. Weddings appeared to dominate.
Review 47:Good modern room, well equipped, good bathroom and big shower, all very clean. Interesting old house.
Review 48:No draft beer only keg. Drinks were expensive.
Review 49:The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent. The function meal was good. The Breakfast was breakfast.
Review 50:The room was a little tired and the bathroom coould do with freshening up a bit, but a lovely room for the price with a very comfortable bed.
Review 51:Staff were helpful and friendly. The Service was excellent
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:Loved all of the facilities and bed was so comfortable the bar was relaxing the dining area was so clean as was the rest of the hotel staff are very friendlyperson
Review 54:The room was horrible and didn't look like anything the advertisement on the website. Toilet wouldn't flush paper down, decoration was horrible, old and needed a lick of paint, couldn't open windows. Service in the breakfast bar was shocking, tables hadn't been cleaned after use.
Review 55:The steak from the restaurant was good.
Review 56:the room as shocking for the money. tiny. couldnt swing a cat. heating left on lock so was boiling off all day and night
Review 57:Staff were very friendly and helpful
Review 58:Booked through booking.com very good deal. When we arrived we were given the Lady Mander Suite which completely took our breath away. Never realised there was such a beautiful hotel near Wolverhampton. Brilliant friendly reception staff. Would love to stay in that Suite again but would not be able to book myself so if there are ever any offers I would be grateful for first pick
Review 59:Bedroom needed refurbishing, was however very roomy and clean. Disco was below our bedroom, extremely noisy until 1 am both nights.
Review 60:Restaurant/food excellent. Hotel had lots of character, function rooms beautiful.
Review 61:Our room door was a bit stiff to open and also the push button on the toilet kept sticking so you could hear the water filling the cistern (until you pressed the button several times to release it).
Review 62:Hotel staff extremely helpful with good advice about getting taxis to and from Weston Park. Breakfast was a good choice (eggs cooked fresh on request). Even though we got back from V Festival at 1am, staff were happy to open the bar for us!!
Review 63:Fab room , gorgeous hotel. Lovely staff. Had a wonderful stay whilst going to v festival. An oasis after a hectic day. Loved it. Breakfast was winderful.
Review 64:Pot holes in car park. Difficult to park on the weekend due to multiple wedding parties. Need a separate dedicated coach area.Went to take some photos of the Library and its gallery on Sunday evening and was sad to see that the room hadn't been cleared or cleaned following an afternoon tea party. A beautiful room like that should always be kept in prime condition. There didn't seem to be any staff around on Sunday and Monday. In the bedroom we kept getting woken up. It was difficult to close the bedroom door as the wood kept sticking, and had to be pulled sharply causing it to bang. Several rooms had the same problem, plus door alarms that kept ringing. Room walls are thin. Could easily hear neighbours TV and sex life. There was a bizarre motion sensor fitted to bathroom light and unless you kept walking around the bathroom, the bathroom light kept going out. The towel rail was locked at 18 degrees centigrade so the towel rail and bathroom was constantly cold. Wash basin plug was missing and the guest soap kept falling down the plug hole.Couldn't access the hotel wi-fi.Bar staff absent. Went to reception to ask if anyone was serving in the bar, but receptionist was also in the back office and out of sight. Took 20 minutes to work out how to order an evening meal and drink from the bar.The food in the Grill & Restaurant was over priced. £3 for a side salad consisting of a few pieces of rocket, half a tomato and half a mushroom. The breakfast experience was awful.A basic buffet choice, with cold plates which made the food cold. The breakfast service was atrocious.First morning, no acknowledgement on entry to breakfast in the Library. Didn't know where to sit or how to order anything not seen on the buffet table. Was eventually asked our room number, then left to it. Day 2, breakfast was in the Ballroom. I asked for a poached egg and waited 15 minutes to receive it. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time, with only 2 other people eating.
Review 65:Beautiful building and garden. Location near to countryside and lots of places of interest. Newly decorated bedroom and bathroom. New carpets. Quality linen. Effective black out curtains. Generous hospitality tray. Reception staff welcoming. Restaurant manager attentive and knowledgeable. Couldn't fault housekeeping staff. Spa & Gymn available Nearby pub had lamb steaks, peas & mash for £4.99 Nearby flower shop very helpful
Review 66:They were woken by rowdy guests at 1 am with people trying to get into their room. Also people were banging on their bedroom window early hours of the morning. As there had been a wedding, it was very noisy all evening, then in the morning they couldn't get to the breakfast food easily as it was so packed with lots of people. Maybe offering a longer window for breakfast in the mornings following weddings would help to resolve this.
Review 67:️️Lovely room upgrade for my parents
Review 68:Would have liked more variation on vegetarian options on restaurant menue. Subsequently didn't dine in there.
Review 69:Friendly and helpful staff. Beautiful environment .
Review 70:There were some problems with organization - the wedding breakfast started over an hour late & flowers to be presented to people had been lost by staff. The lawn outside where we had photos hadn't been cleared it had plates, glasses & rubbish all over it
Review 71:The food was lovely & the main hall is stunning, most of the staff were friendly & helpful when we asked for anything
Review 72:Our breakfast was cold & the milk supply was silly, with only two little pots for myself & my Husband to have one drink each. The coffee that was supplied in our room tasted awful too.
Review 73:The room was beautiful with a lovely view.
Review 74:A chipped cup at breakfast table Also we were having some food in the bar and the manager told a member of staff off right by us . He should always take a member of staff away from customers to do this discretely and constructively.
Review 75:Room very good. Breakfast very good. Pleasant relaxing setting. Very handy to several National Trust properties that we wanted to visit.
Review 76:Breakfast service was a tad lacking. Like I had to ask for a coffee (half way through breakfast), dirty cup on table, no white sugar on table. The staff were nice though.
Review 77:Prompt checkin, nice room, clean.
Review 78:The bed was very hard. Not very good if you staying and functions on as it was when we were there. No where to eat on the bar where service was extremely slow and the room was freezing, even the staff commented.
Review 79:The building is beautiful full of character, the bedroom we had was modern, very clean, but verycompact for a deluxe. All the staff very friendly pleasant and always happy to help.
Review 80:Staff unfriendly, no smiles, no hello or goodbye, or did you enjoy your staff, absolutely nothing.
Review 81:Hotel was lovely, very clean, and lovely surroundings.
Review 82:Stayed at the Mount Hotel for a friends wedding. Had a lovely day. Great offers on the bar! Ordered breakfast to the room in the morning which was no problem, came fairly quickly. Was very hot and tasty. Bedroom was very clean!
Review 83:Didn't like that couldn't have meal in restaurant had to have barmeal because they have 2 weddings on and couldn't get near bar ..breakfast was OK but cold ... greated by a real rude man ..other wise staff were OK but rushed off their feet
Review 84:The hotel was comfortable and lovely outdoor seating and garden
Review 85:Nothing!
Review 86:Once the chef was aware of my wife's various food allergies (gluten, dairy, nuts, etc) her meals were adapted to suit her needs. The staff were very friendly and cheerful and made us very welcome. Disability facilities for wheelchair user excellent and adapted room first class.
Review 87:An excellent sirloin and salad served in the main bar. A very comfortable room in the new annexe and an excellent very early continental breakfast at 6.00am from an accessible buffet that was being set up for breakfast so it was easy to serve myself for such an early departure.
Review 88:Not a bad experience , but the key swipe card was temperamental on several occasions
Review 89:Following the refurbishment the Hotel now of the appropriate standard. All of the Staff are friendly and competent and the Hotel has a nice atmosphere quality
Review 90:Breakfast was brought to our room at a cost, but was unfortunately late and rather cold.
Review 91:Lovely clean room, tea/coffee making facilities, very friendly and helpful staff
Review 92:There was no iron or trouser press in our room. The one we were given leaked everywhere and burnt clothing when only on the clothes for a few seconds. Our door was very stiff and an alarm would go off if the door wasn't shut properly. Our waitress at breakfast was pleasant however even though she wrote our order down the food was wrong, she didn't seem like she knew what was or wasn't on the menu.
Review 93:Ease of parkin. The reception staff were great. Our room was well presented.
Review 94:Nothing to report
Review 95:Lovely building stayed for a wedding husband needed a sandwich very late at night and the staff member happy went out of his way and made sandwiches which he brought to the room. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 96:Nothing, the Mount was a excellent hotel
Review 97:I stayed in room 12, which was an excellent room. Very clean and quiet. The breakfast was very good too along with all the staff I had the pleasure to meet.
Review 98:It was a bit cool in our room. Okay once in bed. We only had summer clothes.
Review 99:Nice setting, lovely ambience. If we had not been eating evening meal at nearby sister-in-laws home we would have been tempted to dine in the restaurant.
Review 100:nothing bad to report
Review 101:Ideal location, the room was amazing, loads of room, massive comfy bed, tea coffee, water supplied. the staff were very friendly and pleasant. food was excellent so was the price
Review 102:I upgraded thinking double bed would be big but wasn't and room was small. Breakfast wasn't great, cold plates.
Review 103:Staff and location/comfortable room
Review 104:Seats in bar areas arent very comfy they were hard couldn't relax in them asked for a cocktail of cocktail menu girl on bar didn't have a clue how to make it said hadn't been trained how to did her best but was not worth 6.95 it cost she did it in a small glass cause didn't even know what glass to use breakfast was eating breakfast put knife fork down to have a drink and they were there asking can I take your plate well no still eating did this on numerous occasions during breakfast
Review 105:Hotel very nice very clean breakfast was good with good choice grounds lovely
Review 106:Having stayed in a modernised room previously we were very disappointed in the standard offered this time. Very shabby and unacceptable to be honest. We had slashed curtains, a wonky cracked toilet, peeling wallpaper and stains on walls and furniture.
Review 107:The wonderful way in which the staff responded to our concerns regarding our room and provided us with a solution that far exceeded our expectations. They ensured that we left satisfied and willing to return.
Review 108:The dinner menu was unadventurous and the service very slow
Review 109:The hotel is in a good location and easy to find when approaching from the west - not so easy from the south or east.
Review 110:Shower dangerous no handles and no anti slip mat for bath. Elderly person's like myself and my wife not as steady as we were afraid use in fear of falling.
Review 111:Clean comfortable rooms and pleasant helpful staff
Review 112:Poor service at evening meal. One hour wait for food with no apology. I had to go to enquire as to what was happening. Even more annoyed when I read that another reviewer was offered a bottle of wine for such a delay! When the food arrived the steak was actually burnt and was sent back. Dessert menu failed to arrive for over half an hour following request, so gave up on this. Tea and coffee unpleasant Re: room. Insufficient towel rails for two persons. Room doors annoyingly all loudly slammed shut ( 8 times in 10 minutes at 7.30am!)
Review 113:The grounds were lovely.
Review 114:Object to £30.00 being charged to a card when you check in but not refunded when you check out, have to wait several days for money to be refunded. Never come across this before and not happy about it.
Review 115:Room small but everything you needed, clean and comfortable.
Review 116:Bathroom ready for refurbishment.
Review 117:Pleasant dining room. Reasonable menu with well cooked food. Good sized bedroom with comfortable seating area. Large bathroom. All very clean. Television didn't work but we were offered an alternative room or a significant refund.
Review 118:Breakfast suffered through poor routine, not enough tables and overburdened staff through daily practice. Hotel very full that probably compounded problem, but even tea / coffee distribution caused a problem, all solvable by giving residents their own supply. Cooking of eggs to order must have been a nightmare, as 10/15 minutes was the average wait. Food good though, and worth the disruption.
Review 119:Clean and tidy, comfortable and pleasant
Review 120:only having one tea spoon in room when offering clients Tea & Coffee does not make sense for a 4 Star Hotel. No Lift Soundproofing average
Review 121:Staff were friendly and helpful property clean but feel could do with some T L C
Review 122:Lovely "olde worlde" atmosphere as soon as you walk in. Staff very smiley, friendly and efficient, especially in the restaurant and breakfast room.
Review 123:Unfortunately on all my stays usually with my wife the breakfast is never a good experience this time is was appalling no food on buffet table or juice and milk. Left after 20 minutes as unable to order cooked breakfast
Review 124:Bedroom, location good staff
Review 125:No sanitory facilities so I was caught out. Luckily friends came to the rescue.
Review 126:The room was spacious and quiet. Hotel looked to be in a nice neighbourhood.
Review 127:Our room was in the newer wing of the hotel, and although if had all the amenities, it was a little small for us with all our baggage but it was not an issue...
Review 128:The staff were fantastic, friendly and most helpful - nothing was a problem. Heeps of parking available, the interior old ambiance, the glass conservatory where 'high tea' was served was light and warming. We had to checkout at 5am for the drive to Heathrow and the reception staff very kindly offered a take-away breakfast for us - they certainly did not lack in customer service. The price was particulary very reasonable.
Review 129:Our room, although spacious and comfortable, was in an ugly extension to he main house. Breakfast was not enhanced by loud Sky News broadcast (could at least have been BBC!)
Review 130:Interesting and historic building with links to the Mander family; Lovely grounds; proximity to Wightwick Manor
Review 131:Second floor room not very comfortable. Took ages to get hot water. Bathroom door handle fell off. Gaps around the windows rather draughty
Review 132:Convenient location and friendly staff
Review 133:Our bed was very hard... but thats personal preference for a softer one. Wifi in our room a bit slow/dropped out
Review 134:The staff were fantastic and accomodated us totally. Thank you to the chef who prepared a Gluten free meal for our four year old who said it was "delicious"! The Meal deal with free wine was brilliant too!
Review 135:limited bar menu, wasn't that keen on choices in restaurant so chose to have a bar meal on the friday night. Again choice was very limited, several spicy items. & unfortunately after my first course, which was lovely, I then chose a dessert that I really fancied only to be told that the menus were in the process of being changed & that dessert was no longer available!
Review 136:The varied choice at breakfast, was impressed with the inclusion of a gluten free cereal & gluten free bread as part of the normal selection.
Review 137:All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful especially the breakfast staff. Also the breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food. Every thing was topped up regularly and tea and coffee was plentiful. We would definitely stay here again when next in the area.
Review 138:The room I booked this time was a delux double. I was very disapointed with the size, which was very, very small and much smaller than a standard room in a Travel Lodge! Breakfast was shocking also. Cold beans, uncooked eggs, brown fruit and our table cleared when we went to get some toast!
Review 139:I've been to parties and stayed in the mount before, purely because of its location to my family. Lovely grounds and friendly staff.
