Reviews for Rose and Crown Hotel
Review 1:Parking was a little difficult, but possible rather close for a modest fee. There are no elevators in the hotel, we had to climb, but luckily no higher than to the first floor. Old house, old staircase and old customers is not the ideal combination.
Review 2:A nice, little hotel in the heart of Carmarthen, on the busiest street. The house is old, the rooms cosy, not small at all, the bathroom very good. Actually the hotel rooms are on top of a pub, nothing wrong with that. Actually you would not expect such good rooms in an old tiny hotel. Everything you might possibly need on a trip can be acquired within 50 meters. The personnel was very good, friendly and knew their business. The food in the restaurant was ok, bier selection better.
Review 3:The sheet under the grubby duvet. I would have preferred a nice clean duvet cover and no sheet. To get to the private bathroom one had to keep going across the corridor. Therefore, a bit overpriced.
Review 4:Nice and quiet little room. The desk. And being able to open the windows!
Review 5:We have stayed here before but this year wasn't a good experience we had a room at the front of the property we were kept awake between 12am-5am with the noise of drunk people arguing and fighting, absolutely awful!
Review 6:Breakfast was lovely
Review 7:I was a bit daunted going in because the front is a traditional pub and the regulars just sit and look at you. But the staff were all exceptionally friendly and my room was warm and comfortable. Because I was working, a desk in my room was a real buns . The food is delicious. Lots of choice and nicely served
Review 8:Rooms were lovely and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food well what can I say never tasted chips like it they were the best. Will definitely be staying there again. Thank you
Review 9:Can be a little noisy if you are located at the high street side.due to traffic and deliveries early in the morning. But i have used this pub before and will continue to book.
Review 10:My room was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and had everything I needed. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and smelled lovely! Breakfast was beautiful.
Review 11:Bedroom window needs to be double glazed as it is over front door of pub. Noise from people and slamming of taxi doors under window not good.
Review 12:Very clean room.
Review 13:In the mornings u heard all the traffic outside from 6.20 especially the binmen and street cleaners
Review 14:It was convent to all the shops and also to my daughters university
Review 15:Being woken up at 11.00pm by a disco which appeared to be in bar downstairs, which went on for at least two hours after that and prevented us from sleeping. This was a Sunday! I would class this place as really a pub with rooms rather than a hotel. Also the girl taking our dinner order did not seem to realise that she had taken it and we had to wait a long time for dinner to arrive and then the bill was wrong. If it were not for these things I would have rated this accommodation much higher.
Review 16:Room was of a good size. Comfortable and nicely furnished/decorated. Nice pub below and food was good. All in all good value for money.
Review 17:The noise from the street all night horrendous, people shouting ,screaming, road sweeper up and down bins banging ,couldn't keep window closed to hot ,plus garden closed off early so had to smoke out in main street
Review 18:This hotel is one of the cleaniest I've ever stayed in staff friendly
Review 19:That our stay was for only a night, would have stayed for a few more days.
Review 20:Friendly,Clean,Good Value for Money and the Food & Services were excellent.
Review 21:There was nothing to dislike.keep up the good work.we will be back
Review 22:Staff friendly and tentative.nothing too much.good location for either sightseeing the lovely town and close to entertainment.rooms clean and beds comfy.good breakfast to set you up for the day
Review 23:The room was perfect, the staff were lovely and the breakfast was one of the best I have ever had in a hotel. Cooked entirely to perfection - and I don't say that lightly! I would highly recommend the Rose and Crown, I will certainly be staying ahain
Review 24:The Wi-Fi is ridiculous, you have to go into the bar to use it and even then, it doesn't always work. It is an old building but they could upgrade a bit to give some modern conveniences. The hotel should take a few hundred pounds and invest in new towels. The bath towels we had were horrendous, have been used for years - fraying and thread-bare. I would suggest new towels asap!
Review 25:Staff were very accommodating, breakfast was delicious and filled you up all day. Very clean hotel and close to everything within Carmarthen.
Review 26:The pub seems to deserve its local and rowdy reputation. Probably not good for a quiet weekend. The pub has no dedicated or secure parking places.
Review 27:This rather basic and town centre pub is easy to find and the barmaid seems friendly.
Review 28:I had room 7, a single situated on the top floor, owing to the space available the toilet and shower was situated across the hallway, as described on the website, this was fine for the one night but I would struggle if it was for any more.
Review 29:Nice & clean, staff very friendly, ideally suited for the town centre. Breakfast was great.
Review 30:No parking on site but local car park was only a short walk
Review 31:The staff were helpful and friendly. Our room no.8 was quiet and peaceful, we had booked a twin room but staff changed our room as we would have been too near the disco. We ate in the restaurant on Saturday night and the food was very good and service superb. Breakfast was hot and plentiful we could not fault a thing. Would def stay there again
Review 32:Can't say there is anything I didn't like
Review 33:The staff were so friendly and helpful.the atmosphere was lovely and the room was spotless.slept really well and was nice to be in such a good location.a reasonable price for the quality.will definitely be staying there again!
Review 34:Single room at top of hotel not easy with baggage etc , and the ensuite isn't -it,s on the opposite side of the corridor, to use a phrase, not very "convenient " during the night as need to unlock mine and bathroom doors to gain access for a visit!
Review 35:Friendly but professional staff. Clean throughout but could do with a few touch ups. Breakfast was REALLY good, filling, tasty and hot (even the toast!) Will be staying there again without a doubt.
Review 36:As a guest not many options of breakfast. Latest breakfast time 9.30am. Only one slice of meat with a roast meal however excellent amount of vegetables.
Review 37:Staff brilliant very helpful! Good location in the centre of town. Large menu served all day.
Review 38:Mattress saggy and our daughter's room was very hot with no window so needed the air con. Beer deliveriy early in the morning just below our window
Review 39:Location
Review 40:Our room was very noisy on a Friday/Saturday night because of music below, also the fan system was very close to the window and run all night. Parking could also be a problem, the car park next door was only a public one which was free between 6pm and 8am, you have to remember to get a ticket that night to carry over after 8am or get one first thing in the morning.
Review 41:The room was excellent as was the staff and the breakfast. Good showering facilities. All in all our stay was good.
Review 42:Our room was to the front street and right above the local taxi rank which meant it was the gathering place for late night drunken noisy folks heading home and they were VERY noisy. didn't hear anything from the Rose and Crown bar itself.
Review 43:Location, very handy for the town centre. Food, all day menu very tasty although breakfast a bit limited, porridge fresh fruit and yogurt would have been nice rather than just a fry and cardboard cereals.
Review 44:The embarrassment the staff had when we turned up and they had no record of our booking, but they did extremely well.
Review 45:Despite not getting the booking from Booking.com the manager Pete pulled out all the stops and sorted out accommodation for us even though they were fully booked.
Review 46:It can't be helped but some rooms face onto the street and there is a taxi rank outside. Late night revellers catching taxis home made it a bit disturbing.
Review 47:Staff especially helpful. Rooms nicely decorated and very clean.
Review 48:The noise from the disco (Saturday night until 2.00 am) and from the street (Saturday night until 3.00am) unfortunately meant a sleepless night for us - great fun if you want to go clubbing - but spoilt an otherwise lovely place for us. I would go back but not on a Saturday.
Review 49:The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of great quality bar meals and an excellent breakfast. Bedroom and bathroom clean and a good shower with lots of hot water.
Review 50:The bedroom was very poor. A permanent Fire Escape light on directly over the bed and when the window was open the noise from the street was horrific. Had to open the window due to the heat & humidity.
Review 51:The staff were excellent, friendly & helpful.
Review 52:We were told that there was a booking error and despite our booking for two rooms only one room was reserved. The problem however got fixed verry well by the staff and e finally enjoyed the two rooms I had booked.
Review 53:The hotel is very centrally located. The stuff was friendly, supportive and very flexible to solve issues. The rooms looked and felt recently renovated and the bathroom was of very good quality. Looking backwards I think the breakfast was the best we had during our whole tour trough Wales. A compliment to the chef.
Review 54:VERY NOISY ALL NIGHT ON TOP OF A PUBLIC HOUSE IN THE CENTRE OF TOWN. WE STAYED FRIDAY NIGHT. WE HARDLY GOT A WINK OF SLEEP AND HAD TO BE UP VERY EARLY.
Review 55:Transfer option meant we were on the front. In the evening we were disturbed by local revellers who (enjoying the hot weather) were making a lot of noise until well after 2.0pm. I don't imagine that is normal, but the large delivery vehicles, buses and other traffic noises that woke us up at 6.30am is probably normal. Damned if we stayed damned if we moved!
Review 56:Hotel very well staffed and attentive, Initial room had noise from an extractor fan so we were quickly transferred to another one. Breakfasts excellent, Shower excellent - plenty of hot water and easy to use.
Review 57:It can be a bit noisy if you prefer to sleep early because of the noise from the pub downstairs and other neighbouring pubs. It is situated on a local high street, but given the this is a small town the noise really is tolerable.
Review 58:We stayed there overnight. The room was nice and clean. Staff were friendly. The room was well equipped despite the remote control was broken and light bulb was gone. Initially we thought it was a hotel but actually it were just B&B on a top of a pub.
Review 59:The only down side is that there is a taxi rank right outside the Hotel, and all the youngsters seem to congregate there waiting for taxis, also I think all the youngsters live up the road from the Hotel as they all walk past at all times of night. Didn't put us off though.
Review 60:We liked the fact the hotel was central to everything in Carmarthen, and not too far to walk in any direction. Lovely food, very clean room and facilities. Will return.
Review 61:Nothing.
Review 62:The manager was very helpful when the wifi was not working well at night time, checking train times for us and even ringing a friend to find out. Wifi worked perfectly well the next day. Nice friendly bar and restaurant with good food and drink. We would stay here again.
Review 63:room was cold, temperature could not be controlled by the guest! very, very few 240v sockets in the room

Review 87:no parking. we had to use multi storey carpark costing £12 per 24hrs
Review 88:Wellcoming and helpful staff. Spotlessly clean with bright and airy room. Very good breakfast. Lovely place.
Review 89:Unfortunately there isn't any parking nearby, and it's quite a busy pub on a weekend night, without great soundproofing.

Review 115:Friendly staff, excellent breakfasts. Spacious double room with excellent facilities.
Review 116:A clean, pleasant comfortable hotel. We would definitely book again in the future.
Review 117:There was nothing to dislike
Review 118:Everything!
Review 119:disco playing until 2 am in the morning.with thump, thump, thump coming up through the floor.
Review 120:staff and food,excellent.
Review 121:very helpful staff
Review 122:no car parking onsite
Review 123:breakfast is amazing. central location, staff so friendly.
Review 124:Constant noise throughout the night, also our room was by the smoking deck so the room smelt of cigarettes. Not to mention the whirring of the air con unit outside the window all night. Kitchen ran out of tomatoes for breakfast, which let it down slightly. Bit confusing since right in middle of town and I'm sure this key ingredient wouldn't be too difficult to get..... Next door for instance.
Review 125:The rooms were nice and the staff helpful. breakfast was nice, great sausages.
Review 126:The customer service was great. We had a small issue in our restroom. Reported it and went to dinner. When we got back to our room that evening the issue had been fixed.
The Fine Print
The rooms are soundproofed but guests should expect town centre noise, especially at the weekend.
