Reviews for Villa Ambrosia
Review 1:Very difficult to find the place. As it was after hours there was no one available. The room was on the 2nd floor with no lift. Breakfast was weak for a B & B. Would not stay again!
Review 2:The B & B was very unusual in style - overdone. Clean though.
Review 3:This place is beautiful and tranquil and very comfortable. A lot of effort has gone in to creating comfortable and luxurious rooms and an amazing outside space with nooks and crannies for you to sit. It even includes an outside kitchen and eating area should you choose to use it. The staff are amazing and we were so happy to meet Peggy. I use a wheelchair and she was so kind and helpful. We will be back.
Review 4:Feels more like a small country house than a hotel. Staff v good & pleasant and atmosphere encourages guests to be sociable with each other. Spacious outside areas to relax in/by or eat own food etc.
Review 5:Air con was very noisy! No other TV channels but French. Parking is too expensive and local taxes not included in the price you pay upfront
Review 6:Staff were excellent. Wifi was Stable and quick. Location was good ( 5 mins from town centre) facilities were great - pool and jacuzzi . Rooms were lovely and shower was hot and powerful
Review 7:Could not fault. Just wish it had been sunny to enjoy their private garden!!
Review 8:Beautifully designed bedroom and exotic furniture and fittings. Great walk in wetroom. A gorgeous outdoor garden and private seating BUT it rained heavily most of the time on our stopover to break our journey back. Obviuosly nothing one could do about it!! Breakfast area beautiful and a very good breakfast. Within walking distance of the train station (to Paris) to collect our car which we'd put on the auto train the day before. Would like to stay again.
Review 9:We were charged 10e for parking at check out. We were expecting this charge as it was mentioned at the time of booking. However, we were a bit confused by this as we parked on non-secure public street and it didn't appear that there were any pay metres on the street. There was no on-site parking available.
Review 10:Beautiful air conditioned rooms with all modern facilities. Villa itself is very charming. The owners have clearly put a lot of effort into creating a very tranquil setting in the common areas and they have succeeded. Breakfast was also very good.
Review 11:The Villa is a bit difficult to find. Perhaps more information regarding how to arrive would be useful.
Review 12:The bed was very comfortable. The garden and grounds are beautiful. Breakfast by the pool was lovely and delicious. A ten minute walk takes you along the canal to the center of town.
Review 13:Narbonne has LOTS of mosquitos!
Review 14:The facility and service were wonderful. Each room is decorated with a theme and is carefully and comfortably furnished. The pool and jacuzzi were welcome additions, and breakfast was just wonderful! The owners were lovely--friendly and gracious.
Review 15:The owner texted us on our English home phone to find out when we were arriving, but we had already left for France a week earlier. We tried to ring shortly before we arrived but got no answer so we had to wait half an hour when we arrived as the owners don't live on the premises.
Review 16:A comfortable and well equipped B & B, once you get used to the bizarre decor! Very good breakfast, different from the usual.
Review 17:The lady who greeted us was there for five minutes to show us our room then disappeared until the following morning for breakfast. It was a Sunday night and nearly everything was closed including restaurants. The list in the rooms showed that there were two that opened on Sunday night but they only had a phone number no address. However we went out for a walk to discover that as it was the 21st June it was music festival throughout the whole of France so everywhere was open and Rocking. Did not understand why our host did not give us this information on arrival. When we left we met our hosts mother the owner of the house who was really friendly and helpful. A bit late but better late than never. It was a great night in Narbonne congratulations France for such a wonderful was to celebrate summer each year.
Review 18:The quirkiness of it. The pool in the middle of the living accommodation, the rooms etc.
Review 19:It would be nice to have one or two more comfortable seats and benches to sit in the gardens.
Review 20:The fascinating and attractive accommodation and surroundings
Review 21:Everybody who greeted us had a smile and was friendly. As English ladies, we were desperate for tea when we arrived. We were served it on a tray, with cake, in the sitting area, even though there were tea-making facilities in the room. Such a nice touch. Friendliness abounded. We were given lots of information about the area. The place was spotless. Loved the pool for a low-lit evening dip. I just loved the funky, eclectic no-apologies mix of shabby chic, French chic and Moroccan! Such joy in the decor!
Review 22:Location by the canal. Quiet and peaceful Personal service from friendly family staff delicious breakfast with home made preserves and freshly baked pasties. Nothing was too much trouble.
Review 23:lovely friendly welcome. excellent breakfast with homemade yoghurt, fruit salad, pastries, bread and lemon cake. comfy large bed. spacious accommodation. hot tub. easy walk along the canal to the centre of town and all the restaurants
Review 24:We loved our stay at Villa Ambrosia. The Villa itself is gorgeous. The bedrooms and common areas are fabulous. The staff were lovely. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and a great brekky. We wish we could have stayed longer and will try to get back. The shabby chic room was beautiful! Thanks for a lovely stay!!!!
Review 25:It stated it had a gym it didnt!! The pool was unusable and full of leaves. The owner kept disturbing us and would just come into the room and state breakfast was ready. Narbonne is definitely worth giving a miss!!
Review 26:indoor pool was cold and the air-con needs cleaning.
Review 27:Hot Tub was a Hot Tub and not one with cold water, good breakfast but I would suggest offering an omelette would make it even better.
Review 28:A delightful place - couldn't fault it. The decor is stunning, the breakfasts a feast both for the eye and the stomach. Madame, the host, could not be more helpful. The villa is also ideally situated as one can easily walk into Narbonne (a lovely city) where there are numerous restaurants to suit everyone's tastes and pockets. It isn't very easy to find but ignore the directions sent with your booking form and head for 12 Quai de Lorraine. The entrance to the villa is just next to this (and it is signposted).
Review 29:We really enjoyed all aspects of this B&B but it was tricky to locate. Normally you don't have to go through 2 sets of gates to find your hotel.
Review 30:This was a very special hotel/leisure/spa. Very nicely laid out areas surrounding Deluxe double rooms. Indoor swimming pool with surrounding 'green areas'. Breakfast was all homemade and delicious. Would definitely go again for a couple of days of relaxation and massages. Narbonne also a very interesting town.
Review 31:Noise from fridge during night!
Review 32:Owner and staff were wonderful - helpful and always pleasant without being overbearing. Loved the decor, breakfast, location. Given wine and nibbles when sitting chatting to other guests.
Review 33:Location, room was a bungalow in the garden, peaceful and comfortable. Delicious breakfast, decor beautiful, staff welcoming and friendly, made a real difference.
Review 34:Only one small slight criticism, when you have breakfast in France you expect beautiful croissants and pain au chocolat. The little pastries tasted like they came out of a long life packet and were quite tasteless. Fresh boulangerie pastries offered at breakfast would put this beautiful hotel from a 9 to a perfect 10.
Review 35:We really appreciated the carefully designed individual rooms, the pool and Jacuzzi. Beautiful furniture and décor. At breakfast, the freshly squeezed orange juice and homemade pancakes and French toast went down well. We loved Maria, a great host who couldn't do enough for us. A very peaceful hotel which felt like a home from home! We hope to be back soon!
Review 36:Thought the towels and bedding could have been better quality
Review 37:We loved the garden area and the privacy the staff were lovely and it is in a great position to walk around the city only minutes from the hotel
Review 38:We were received by the owner with a glass of Orange juice and from the moment we arrived we were made to feel as if it was our own home It was set in a beautiful and tranquil garden We had a little difficulty in finding the hotel but once there we were completely relaxed The hotel had many interesting furnishings and special points of interest and the breakfasts including the home made yoghurt and crepes were well above the sometimes standard fare in other hotels We were sorry to leave and would like to return another time
Review 39:Stayed here for a couple of nights would definitely return.Staff so helpful nothing to much trouble.Only five rooms, stayed in a garden one with a patio.
Review 40:Breakfast was mediocre--the pastries and fruit were not fresh. The cleanliness could be improved, especially in the outdoor seating areas. For the price we paid, we expected more.
Review 41:Friendly staff. Great location--a very short walk away to the main part of town. It's great to have a pool in the summer, and there were lots of places to relax on site.

Review 76:No permanent reception staff. They phoned us to find out our arrival time. Address is a bit misleading. 12 quai de Lorraine is offices. You have to go down Allee Ambrosia next door and through 2 iron gates to find it. Worth the effort though.
