Reviews for Village Hotel Swindon

Review 1:Staff couldn't find my booking at check in Air conditioning in bedroom very unpredictable. One minute too warm next minute too cold.

Review 2:Excellent location with lots nearby

Review 3:Not a bad experience, just that my partner said it would of been nice just to have a snack machine for those late night cravings.....

Review 4:The food available for breakfast was a feast fit for a king. Have stayed in many hotels with work and for leisure purposes and have to say that the food was better than any other place.

Review 5:The hotel is so dark! The decor is starting to look a little faded in places and the bathroom could do with a bit of bleach here and there. The main thing we didn't like is the restaurant, the food is very salty, the menu dated and very pricey for the quality. The vegetarian option consisted of pasta with tomato sauce or a cheese salad!

Review 6:This is a convenient place to stay with lots of amenities nearby. The rooms are of a good size and the beds comfortable.

Review 7:The party that went on in the room next door. (Hotel security tried to quieten them down) The rickety sofa bed sagged in the middle. The mold in the bathroom.

Review 8:Love the convenience of its position. The welcoming lobby and sofas. The breakfast staff who stayed open when we were late. The man on the reception who was sympathetic to our sleepless night.

Review 9:The bathroom was a bit rusty. Could of had conditioner as well as shampoo. More towels would of been great. Alcohol just a tad expensive.

Review 10:Gorgeous reception area. Lovely decor in the room and brilliant party in the pub! Didn't get chance to use the spa and pool etc so will be back again. Great value for money!

Review 11:A little disappointed with prices in the Italian restaurant ( sirloin £25 comes with a few chips and half a tomatoe) But it was v. nice.

Review 12:Location suits us very well. Staff are friendly. Pool is good not over crowded. Breakfast fresh and good choice.

Review 13:Nothing

Review 14:We liked everything been here twice and definitely going back again very happy with everything you've got everything you need there on site happy couple our 2nd time there

Review 15:The two single beds moved apart in the night and the room wasn't cleaned every day.

Review 16:Food was fantastic, staff were friendly and the facilities were good.

Review 17:Fantastic accommodation! Generously sized room, clean - no complaints whatsoever... Oh and the breakfast - Wow!!! The best breakfast from a buffet restaurant! Am looking at booking for another weekend now!

Review 18:Friendly staff, two restaurants and a coffee shop within hotel. Great facilities both inside and directly outside the hotel including cinema, leisure centre and shopping.

Review 19:The bed was hard the room was cold, could not find a way to turn rad up,difficult to get t.v to work and hidden lead on kettle took ages to find, all three of these deed some instructions .Please

Review 20:almost everything

Review 21:Great facility with very pleasant staff. Certainly will suggest other co workers stay here when visiting Swindon office. Great job guys - you made an overseas visitor feel very welcome and at home.

Review 22:The bedrooms and public rooms were so very dark and the restaurant where breakfast was served was just not a suitable location

Review 23:The location and car parking facilities were fine

Review 24:hotel seems to be cutting costs no hot chocolate, biscuits or luxury toiletries on paid for upgrade, heating in room virtually non existent rooms freezing cold.

Review 25:convenient visit near to family

Review 26:I did not like they rooms are arranged. I had to walk all around to go to my room. If only there was a staircase leading to the other end.

Review 27:The place is nice, The Starbucks in lobby was great. Also They had a nice cinema near by.

Review 28:Hotel is on the dark side this includes rooms, bar an even the pool area, have never stand anywhere this dark before.also breakfast weekend included fried eggs and on Monday an Tuesday they stopped them, much disappointed can not say you do a breakfast and have no fried eggs.

Review 29:Hotel very clean staff happy an helpful bar meals value for money.rooms large an comfy.

Review 30:Only problem was that kids are not allowed in the pool after 6pm, which I wasn't aware of prior to booking.

Review 31:great food and bar on the premises, excellent choice for breakfast, pool,

Review 32:The room was very grubby, the toilet flush didn't work properly, no plug sockets near mirror or kettle, no drawers to put clothes in, extra £5 charged to use the pool and not being allowed in the bar at night (due to disco which we were not told about!) therefore, not worth the £90 paid for the room!

Review 33:Good location and bar staff very friendly, breakfast very good.

Review 34:Reception area was like walking into a shopping centre its very noisy and chaotic. Only one toilet block which is also in the reception area, so if your in the italian restaurant and you need the toilet you will have to walk back to reception, if your in the bar area you will have to walk back to reception.

Review 35:The italian restaurant was fantastic, the food was excellent and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 36:They couldn't deliver the services in the room . Poor lighting, room missing things eg not dab radio. No one supervising in the pool.

Review 37:It seemed to offer what we wanted . Has superior rooms . When we complained it was dealt with very well.

Review 38:We asked for extra milk and coffee in the family room as there was hardly any but we didnt get anymore. Also no hot chocolate for my daughters to drink as apparently that Hotel doesn't supply it which is a shame.

Review 39:The family room was great apart from no mirror above the dressing table and the lightbulbs were out by the full length mirror so all a little dull in the room.

Review 40:Everything from the start to finish, this was the poorest hotel I have stayed in and I have been to hotels all over the world. Disgraceful. I will never book with them again.

Review 41:Nothing about the stay was liked, reception unhelpful, room service was poor, prices excessesive no value.

Review 42:The room only had one plug socket, which meant I had to keep changing my phone charger / kettle / hair dryer / iron.

Review 43:Choice of a pub / italian restaurant and a Starbucks in the hotel, which meant I didn't have to leave the building and could relax. The room had a big comfy bed, with a sofa and desk.

Review 44:Price, staying in lots of hotels the price is so up and down, it's expensive. Had to re arrange as wanted to dine down Tuesday and it was over £150 a night, way too much. Paid £89 for one night inc breakfast for two. More reasonable.

Review 45:Breakfast , staff are amazing.

Review 46:that until 12.45 in the morning there was function on and we where directly above it. My partner felt terrible and could not sleep, and has resulted in her becomming ill and missing work on Monday. There was no steak on the menu after arriving at 7.30pm to pretty empty restaurant. If it was 9pm I would understand but not to have a main seller not on was not good. the waiter did not even inform us until after we had our drinks and wanting to order, plus he did not know the soup!!Tables were dirty when we sat for breakfast, and food was pretty cold. I understand its hard to keep hot on hotplate, but I did not see anyone probe the food for temp of the food for the whole time we were there. Overall really poor, and would not recommend for personal or business. I travel a lot and totally on my never list!!!

Review 47:leaving the hotel.

Review 48:Room and General cleanliness was below standard expected at a hotel of this price level.

Review 49:Typical Business Hotel, close to a variety of fast food outlets and entertainment.

Review 50:We have an electric car (Nissan Leaf) and unlike a lot of hotels you did not have a charging point in the car park (that we could see anyway). It made it difficult for us to get home.

Review 51:The bed was so comfortable. We slept very well.

Review 52:Upgraded room was pretty small and there were a few things in the room that weren't clean. Expected more from an upper deck room.

Review 53:Great pool and gym

Review 54:Very busy at breakfast Sunday morning a lot quieter on Monday. Some of the breakfast was luke warm both days, mostly the eggs. Housekeeping a bit sloppy only one towel left in the room.

Review 55:The location is in the right side of town for what we need, the bus service into to town is good.

Review 56:The breakfast bar was quite busy due to a large wedding. But this isn't the fault of the hotel.

Review 57:Location was handy with the children. A nearby cinema and ten pen bowling ally. The desk staff were VERY friendly and helpful.

Review 58:We upgraded to the upper deck, couldn't watch sky TV, as they had just installed new sound bars in my room and my son's room, staff didn't know how to operate, so couldn't watch TV on the first night, also very misleading about Starbucks in your room (Starbucks is on site) it is sachets of Starbucks, so dressing up the fact that you have just coffee /tea facilities. Also the duvet is a better quality, maybe, but the bed is very small for a double, expect better for a 4* hotel.

Review 59:The changing rooms especially the disabled/family were dirty and very smelly and the pool area could have be much cleaner (sorry)

Review 60:The room was fantastic breakfast superb and staff very helpful. The location was excellent

Review 61:Only one pillow per person is apparently the company's policy. A noisey generator apparent with windows open on inside room (no a/c) Very busy hotel focussed on large events and coporate business.

Review 62:Better price than the other chain hotels for the time we booked. Good kingsized bed, decent t/v.

Review 63:Wish the hot tub was a bit larger. Only fits 4-5 comfortably!

Review 64:Excellent Hotel! Great value breakfast! We upgraded our room upon arrival for only 20 GBP. Room was very large, large TV, clean, bathroom was clean and spacious. Restaurant was located inside the hotel & had wonderful food. Would definitely recommend this hotel to any of our friends!

Review 65:Not clean. Has put me off. Bath tub kept flooding. Even after complaint nothing was done. Room was too hot no facility of air con or anything. Another week I left something in the room by mistake aboug 8.30. Rang the reception at 11 to see if they can save my item but it was already taken.

Review 66:Just the breakfast

Review 67:None. Only surprise was pool was a bit small and being circular, difficult to swim laps.

Review 68:I would rate Mr. Martin at the Reception as an exceptional Front Desk Manager. From my first interaction with him to the 3rd one, he was pleasant, professional and solution-oriented. I spend some 80 nites at hotels worldwide so I do know exceptionally professional service when I see it. Well done Martin!

Review 69:The breakfast could be better with bit more variety.

Review 70:Very convenient for most people ie location, eating places, bowling alley, a supermarket and plenty of free car parking.

Review 71:The staff were very friendly and couldn't have done more for us. The facilities were excellent and the room was clean and stylish with everything we needed and more. The whole hotel complex seemed to have been put together with comfort and customer service in mind and they provide you with everything from toiletries, towels in the room and at the pool, free papers etc.

Review 72:bottle of red wine i ordered came to the table already opened, i asked the member of staff why its already opened to which they said 'i'm to week to open it so i got someone else to' when i got back to the room i looked at the menu to the restaurant and the wine i drank wasn't on the menu

Review 73:great huge room

Review 74:Clean, spacious room. Welcoming, friendly, professional staff. Lovely breakfast. Great to have options for use of gym/pool. Bed really comfortable, a great experience

Review 75:Felt tired. Kids swimming times were limited and meant we never used the pool - which was a major reason for booking this hotel. Breakfast area felt tired

Review 76:Great receptionist. Location good. Price very good

Review 77:Room was very spacious, the biggest my family have ever stayed in. Loved the Hub area where they provided treats dependent on time of the day. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly. Overall excellent hotel with great facilities, would definitely stay there again.

Review 78:Very beautiful hotel I was happy with everything

Review 79:The room was beautiful very clean & huge . Staffs was nice very helpful the location is nice as there's not much of nose from cars or party boys . Breakfast also very nice eat as much u can.overall it was great experience & ll recommend it & ll also go back again

Review 80:The bed was so uncomfortable that the first night none of us slept, the second night my daughter slept on the floor rather than the bed. I needed back therapy on departure.

Review 81:The staff were so friendly and so helpful in all parts of the hotel. I liked everything being in one place.

Review 82:Breakfast -even though the breakfast buffet was ok for some guests, it wasn't right for us. alot of greasy fry up stuff or bland breads and cereals - however the chef happily made us some boiled eggs which was really kind.

Review 83:Staff were incredible and very friendly from check-in to waitresses and starbucks staff and the breakfast chefs! Great sporting facilities although the pool is more about relaxing than full on lengths. bit isolated unless you have a car but the prices in the hotel bar are totally fine and they have a lovely outdoor section to enjoy drinks

Review 84:The breakfast room manager. Who shouted every time he spoke. The coffee was awful. The bedrooms had a badly fitting mattress and were uncomfortable. The blankets on the beds need a wash.

Review 85:The hotel was cheaply furnished and although I booked the hotel because it had a pool, the pool was already closed to children by the time we arrived early evening. It did not open until 9am on Sunday. Which was useless as we had an early start.

Review 86:As I did not eat or have breakfast at hotel( based on previous poor experience). I have no issues.

Review 87:Good comfortable room on 2nd floor. Very good deal on room only.

Review 88:the only down side was how hot it was in the rooms and had no instructions on how to turn off heated towel rail. the windows had limited opening. An extra pillow would not have gone a miss.

Review 89:How helpful the staff were the swimming pool- sauna etc. brilliant even asked to join in a class of aerobics. Breakfast just couldn't be beaten with variety and freshness The room extremely clean and service with a smile

Review 90:The breakfast staff were extremely disorganised. No toast machines working and not enough staff to bring coffee/tea. Room was very dark and average. Very poor quality loo roll.

Review 91:Rooms were ok but corridors and carpets were a tad scruffy.doors had marks on and looked tired.

Review 92:Facilities locally,bowling,blazer quest,cinema,pizza hut,great location

Review 93:The venue is difficult to find. SatNav will lead to the zone but the complex itself is hard to locate and it must have taken me 15 minutes to find it. Clearer signposting is needed in the local area. The business conference centre facility isn't suitably sectioned off between conference rooms. We could clearly hear people speaking in the next conference room and at times this was an inconvenience and made it difficult to focus on our own seminar.

Review 94:A nice venue once I found it. Facilities to cater for all tastes, a nice selection of dining options and a clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff also.

Review 95:Thought the location for the kettle should have been near a plug. For health and safety.

Review 96:I like the hotel and staff were very friendly, breakfast was lovely.

Review 97:Wi fi not very good in bedroom. Duvet too thick for summer.

Review 98:Large modern room with lounge. modern bathroom with heated towel rail which worked. Italian dining room layout with hundreds of photos.excellent food and helpful staff. Pub good food and value.I won £3 on the fruit machine! Breakfast lots of staff to cope with numbers

Review 99:The rooms are a bit dusty and downstairs in the reception areas there is a smell of cigarette smoke. Could offer a takeaway breakfast RIAT weekend for Early Birds.

Review 100:The bed was super comfortable and the staff were happy on all occasions even at 430am when we were leaving to go out for the day.

Review 101:Over priced, upper deck room booked but still doesn't include breakfast or access to gym facilities. £137 per night plus £10 each for breakfast plus £5 for gym access! Hotel was very dark

Review 102:Generally a nice hotel

Review 103:The bar was busy due to RIAT crew. Staff were frequently talking amongst themselves which made for a slower service. They also served people out of turn. The coffee shop closed 1.5 hours before advertised time

Review 104:Helpfulness of the Reception Staff

Review 105:A room safe would be nice, also a socket within hair-dryer reach of a mirror.

Review 106:Convenient position, large room, friendly staff, large comfortable bed. Plenty of parking space.

Review 107:No drinking water in the room or spare pillows or towels but easily asked for at housekeeping

Review 108:Proper food room service until 10pm, use of the leisure facilities, early check in, air conditioned room, comfy bed. Clean hotel in general

Review 109:On the poor side....I Found the towels in our bathroom and the swimmingpool were hard a ice and extremly old and battered....Theres nothinglike a nice soft towel when you come out of theshower/bath/pool.

Review 110:We had a beautiful 3 night stay here...I Loved the fact that there wasa victory pub (with a great deal on Friday evenings!!), starbuckscoffee house onsite. Across the car park there is a bowling alley, cinema and an Indian and Thai resturant. The staff were soapproachable, helpful and freindly! We will definitely be back thereand we are also booking the "Village Inn" hotel in anotherarea where we are visiting soon!!

Review 111:Breakfast, poorly cooked, cheap food, overdone under the hot lights, would appeal to anyone who likes cheap cafes, but a premium hotel should do better.

Review 112:Air conditioning was inadequate to cope with the heat wave.Windows only opened a couple of inches.

Review 113:Decent size room. Good breakfast. Comfortable with a sofa.

Review 114:Room 23 had no air conditioning, bath taps produced scolding hot water, room and corridors were very dark. Breakfast was dreadful, overly cooked greasy food with dry bread, warm milk and poor service.

Review 115:location was convenient.

Review 116:The fact that I had booked a twin room but the Manager enquired if we would prefer a double room and he provided one for us. I also liked the fact that starbucks vouchers were given to us

Review 117:Bit of confusion with the staff and the upgrade system...had to keep checking the 10% off food and drink had been deducted.

Review 118:Wide range if facilities...comfortable room...free coffee vouchers...free movies....room service ☺☺☺

Review 119:The evening meal in the Italian restaurant not good. Problem for us doors banging late at night due to mainly younger people staying there.

Review 120:Bedroom comfortable. Good breakfast

Review 121:Dirty bathroom floor. No air conditioning. Windows opened into a very busy road.

Review 122:The bed would have been comfortable if the room had live up to billing.

Review 123:Had to pay extra to use the leisure facilities which look very dated. Some TLC is required in the pool area. The radiator was off but the room was still incredibly hot which made it uncomfortable. The windows only opened a couple inches which really didn't help.

Review 124:Furnishings are very nice and the staff were polite and professional.

Review 125:Had a couple of issues but sorted straight away by staff

Review 126:Nice location to visit all area around about quite location and only minutes of major routes m4 or the northen route for m5 and stow bourbon water with in 30 minutes

Review 127:Nothing to not like about this place and its location.

Review 128:Everything the price of room the room lay out the fact it has its own pub restaurant and separate italian restaurant,it even has its coffee shop and health spa with gym and swimming pool and just 2 mins away its has a bowling alley a cinema and laser quest aswell as an indian and chinese restaurant and pizza hut and if you walk across the road you have the link Centre which has tennis, football, squash, ice skating, gym and library.next to that you have 2 banks (natwest and halifax) and a harvester pub and an asda wallmart with a a costa coffee and a mcdonalds inside, truly is a brilliant set up of everything you will ever need in one location.

Review 129:Restaurant was a bit slow and main was cold but ......they cooked a new plate even tho they could just have reheated. Awesome. So impressed. And my waiter kept us amused.

Review 130:Staff were all excellent Super convenient for M4 and for Outlet Village I would definitely stay there again and probably won't even look at the other hotels in the area. Strongly recommended.

Review 131:The racers in the huge public car park attempting to impress their mates until the early hours. Rooms are lovely and warm so the windows needed to stay open. Probably not an issue in the depths of winter. The pool is not a s big as the pictures suggest. Sofa bed a bit uncomfortable.

Review 132:A good central location for trips out. 5 places to eat without having to drive.

Review 133:Low lighting (energy saving bulbs) Analogue TV channels lower audio level than DTV (also poor signal quality on analogue) Rubbish children's sausages in Buca/Pub - much better for breakfast though.

Review 134:Value for money

Review 135:Breakfast, poor quality food, cooked badly, served under hot lights, everything was over cooked, scrambled eggs like quiche, shame it lets the hotel stay down.

Review 136:Ease of booking, location, comfortable room.

Review 137:If the price wasnt so high i would stay more often. Had problems with every single card key had to keep changing it

Review 138:The breakfast and leisure facilities i.e swimming pool etc

Review 139:The only criticism I had was I couldn't connect to the Wi-Fi very weak signal, but didn't really need it so wasn't a problem.

Review 140:Lovely sized beds and really comfy. Even though it is out of the town centre there is all you need under one roof. Pub with bar food, Italian restaurant, coffee shop. Pool and spa. Sky sports on TV's in rooms at no extra cost.
