Reviews for Falcon Hotel

Review 1:No free car parkingfacilities,no sport on TV.unfortunately our room was not cleaned on our last day

Review 2:Where it is located, easy access to shops and restaurants

Review 3:Having staff wake us up be talking out side our room even though we had a do not disturb sign. Then as my with went out one staff without knocking walked in whilst I was in the shower, this was not nice yet we had nothing said to us afterwards.Poor

Review 4:Location

Review 5:Very welcoming staff, Helpful any time of the day or night. Lovely comfy bed. Stunning meals in the restaurant, would definitely chose to stay here again.

Review 6:I couldn't get a wifi signal in my room and as other guests were using the lounge to use their equipment I'm guessing others had the same experience. Having said that it was no great hardship.

Review 7:The staff were absolutely wonderful and the lounge was welcoming and very comfortable. The room was small but adequate. Excellent position in centre of Carmarthen yet room was quiet.

Review 8:Hard bed with plastic undersheet so very clammy and uncomfortable. Also , we paid for a Superior Double, which was supposed to have a King sized bed, but this was definitely just a standard double, in a tiny room.

Review 9:Clean, shower worked well.

Review 10:The only thing I'd complain about was the heat adjustment on the shower, it was very difficult to get it to a comfortable temperature - I felt like I was either scalding myself or freezing myself the whole time - there was no happy medium. Apart from that, the bathroom was lovely!

Review 11:As it was just me for a one night stay, the single room was perfect! The bed was so comfy I struggled to leave it behind! You have all the basic amenities you need, tea/coffee making facilities, tv, plug sockets, phone etc. I ended up not having the complimentary breakfast, due to being so comfy, but I was very happy with my stay!

Review 12:On Arrival staff very welcoming, easily booked in, Room very clean and tidy- All fresh bedding. Excellent variety for breakfast. Quite, close to town amenities.

Review 13:hotel was very convenient to all amenities we were upgraded to a superior room which wasn't massive but the bathroom was very nice all in all staff, room & breakfast was very good & we had a marvellous meal at the hotel on Saturday evening very pleased with the stay.

Review 14:Parking, 6 places if 3 cars blocked in. Phone unplugged in bedroom and when finally found cause of fault by moving furniture, no one answered it (no accident the phone was unplugged?). One electric heater in bedroom, none in shower room, controlled from 'downstairs' so only came on when we questioned if it was working. Next day it was off again (during last weekend when days lovely but evenings and early morning was cold). Electrics a bit unreliable - had to be shown the fuse box outside room door so light in the bathroom would work. Socket for kettle also had an intermittent fault. Carpets above ground floor needed good clean although everything else was clean. Apart from the girl on the desk, command of English by members of staff was very poor.

Review 15:Decor, town centre location, breakfast.

Review 16:Our friends who stayed in the room on the first floor with the window facing the car park, were kept awake all night by the noise, people coming and going, shouting etc. (it was a Saturday night). Perhaps extra double glazing might help in this room.

Review 17:The staff (one person doing everything FOH) was excellent. The food, we had dinner and breakfast, was good. The whole place was very clean.

Review 18:So many stairs were a bit of a problem for elderly legs! Very common problem for the "wrinkly" brigade! Have you any rooms bookable on lower floor? Car parking was a bit of a gamble!

Review 19:Friendly people;-like the rest of Wales!

Review 20:Nothing really

Review 21:Location was key to us booking this hotel. The hotel looks good from the outside but small & unassuming until you enter, it goes back further than you think! We arrived very late & the lady that greeted us was lovely. Our room was a tad small but clean & fresh. Breakfast was cooked fresh to order & was delicious. If we stay in this area again we would definitely look to book here, thank you

Review 22:So some of these issues are not really under the control of the hotel but I think it is worth mentioning.. The main issue we had was noise levels outside the hotel.. on out first night stay the noise level was high upto about 3am. As the hotel is right next to a small car park there was lots of cars going back and forth and people shouting and car alarms going off.. there are also lots of pubs on the same street as the hotel so there are lots of late night revellers going past in front of the hotel and we could hear them at the back where our room was located.. I must stress this is not down to the hotel but nevertheless it impacted our stay.. The other unpleasant thing was the rubish outside on the pavement of the hotel.. this i guess was left from late night revellers and even though it's not the hotels responsibility to keep it clean it does not look or feel good trying to step over it to get into the hotel front door.. this was not a reflection of the state of the hotel which was nice and clean but I still felt as a customer arriving it did not feel nice to see it there.. The only other issue we had was the electric shower did not work very well going from hot to cold all the time so we ended up just having baths which was nice though but a bit of pain if you were in a rush to go out..

Review 23:Staff were very nice and accommodating during our stay. The room was nicely presented and clean. The bathroom was a nice size and the bath itself was nice and big even I at 6.5 could lay back and relax without any issues.

Review 24:We stayed Saturday night - in summer with window open there's a fair bit of noise from revellers in the street below - obviously there's nothing the Hotel can do about that. No disturbance with windows shut

Review 25:Very friendly welcome, very clean hotel, nice breakfast, easy access to town centre and public parking right outside

Review 26:Car parking was very restrictive. I was able to get a space, which was lucky, as the small public car park next to the hotel was full both nights by the time I arrived back.

Review 27:Very convenient for work, and very central. Would recommend for a short stay

Review 28:Lovely traditional hotel. The owner and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay in Carmarthen and district.

Review 29:A colleague requested use of the iron but the dial was missing. One of the mattresses used by a member of our party offered no support.

Review 30:The staff are excellent nothing is too much trouble.

Review 31:advertised and paid for the superior room got a standered double , The bed was not comfy room made up for one person ie :towell had to ask for another as did loo roll was none in the room , As for the breakfast it was standered not a full english breakfast , Also advertised with car park but not so there is no car park the only car park that is there is a pay and display public car park maximum stay 3 hours not good

Review 32:Personally the bed was a bit too hard although very bouncy and also the room was cold. I had to put extra blankets on the bed. My son had a side room which was very noisy on the Saturday night as he had no double glazing.

Review 33:Perfect situation, lovely staff, food excellent. This was second visit and will deffinitely tell friends and hopefully return again.

Review 34:Decaf coffee in the rooms would be nice. Breakfast was a bit disappointing. Some fresh fruit salad would be good. Smoked haddock was very small so it would have been nice to serve two! Coffee tasted like instant so was a bit ordinary.

Review 35:Staff were lovely, comfortable lounge area, good location

Review 36:Problems with parking, broken hairdryer, had to ask for towels on both days. Please don't advertise that you have parking.

Review 37:Breakfast. Shower. Staff attitude.

Review 38:The local night spot obviously closed at 1.00am, from then on for the next few hours we were kept awake by drunken young people shrieking, yelling, swearing, fighting and singing right outside. Even with the window closed (on hot summer nights) the noise echoed around the car park outside and the town square. It was well past dawn before the noise died down - and then the traffic started!

Review 39:Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they could not have been more helpful or smiling.

Review 40:We were on the top floor of the hotel with the second flight of stairs (15 steps) being very streep with no handrail. I struggled but then again, I am an OAP.

Review 41:The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very clean and comfortable.

Review 42:Parking can be an issue but the hotel has a few spaces at the back of the hotel. Wifi is available but the signal was very low

Review 43:The staff were excellent. Nothing was too much trouble. The room felt contemporary with a a good eye for detail

Review 44:Car parking was fiddly having to keep feeding the meter or move the vehicle.

Review 45:The staff were friendly and could not do more to help. Food was very good.

Review 46:We booked a twin room and the beds were very short and more narrow than the usual twin beds (my husband is tall). Other than that, all was great.

Review 47:We liked almost everything about the Falcon. The staff was friendly and helpful and we liked the feel of the lobby and general areas. The breakfast was nicely done.

Review 48:Carrying heavy suitcases up and down stairs is difficult in buildings without lift facilities

Review 49:Receptionist was very helpful and welcoming as were restaurant staff.

Review 50:I had to remember to feed the meter in the adjacent car park at 8 am. The receptionist/waitresses were pleasant, guess it would have been nice to have been shown your room rather that told where it was as the first floor landing was a little glum, and to be asked how I had arrived e.g., did I have a car and advice on parking etc.

Review 51:Nice lounge welcomed me, the fires in the lounge and dining room made the hotel feel welcoming. I had to ask for my room heaters to be switched on at reception as it was a little chilly by the evening. As it was May, I suppose they thought heating wasn't needed? Heaters were effective very quickly. It was quiet in Carmarthen as I stayed Mon/Tues.

Review 52:Great location, with parking and a short walk to shops in town centre. Fantastic towels - the biggest, softest bath towel I have had anywhere even in 5* hotels and yes, I did want to bring one home with me!.

Review 53:The room was very small despite being a 'superior' room. The bed was very small and uncomfortable. We were above the kitchen so could hear the staff talking and cooking evening and morning.

Review 54:The hotel was clean; our room had a bath with lots of hot water; the hotel is in a good location close to the centre of Carmarthen.

Review 55:The hotel promised a car park which needed no reservation. It didn’t say that the car park was a public car park that was only free between six in the evening and eight in the morning. This meant that, as an early arrival, I had to buy parking tickets or risk a fine. Much better, I would suggest, that the hotel was upfront and gave an accurate picture of what they were able to offer. Then I booked in and found that my stay had to be paid for upfront. This wasn’t stated in the Booking.com website but I paid up nevertheless. I was told that my room was on the 2nd floor. Access was via a couple of difficult fire doors carrying briefcase, suit-carrier, small suitcase and newspaper. When I arrived in my room I read the information booklet that informed me I should pay at the end of my stay. I later asked why the receptionist had decided it might be wise to get my money at the start of my stay and she told me the rules had changed some time ago. This fitted in with the menu I had seen in the room being quite different from the menu that was advertised in the room. Both menus were fairly expensive and, by now, I was losing any feeling that the meal I might get would be satisfactory. I ate out.My room was very small but probably recently refurbished. The wardrobe was a six inch deep space in the short corridor that led from the bedroom to the bathroom. It was inadequate for the clothes I had brought for my two night stay. There was a desk with good deep drawers but with inadequate height for knees to get under the desk so that some work might be done. In any event, the chair was needed to accommodate the suit-carrier. Any reading had to be done lying on the bed.The single bed had a band of hard springs close to the surface that made my hip ache straight away. The duvet, unusually, was tucked firmly in at the foot of the bed which might not have mattered if I had been a foot shorter. I had to pull it out in order for the duvet to cover me.

Review 56:The hotel has recently been refurbished to a good standard. Bed was very comfortable and everyone was attentive and welcoming. Would rebook if in the area again.

Review 57:You have to go out before 8am and purchase a parking ticket minimum 2hrs £1,60 then go and get your breakfast for 30 minutes. There is no point of having a town centre location without Parking. Wifi very patchy.

Review 58:Staff were friendly and helpfull

Review 59:Arrived at 6.30pm after travelling for 6 hours to find the hotel restaurant closed! Along with the bar!. This was not made clear on booking.com Internet was advertised across the whole of the hotel and the connection was shocking . Could not log on at all! The rooms were really tired looking and unfortunately will not be staying ever again !!!

Review 60:My room was over the kitchen and I could hear the freezer buzzing all night - spoke to staff who were very apologetic - there had been a problem with the freezer that day and once fixed shouldn't happen again. It was also a shame that the restaurant facilities weren't open on a Sunday evening (might only be winter). I needed a hot meal after a 5 hour drive through a snowy Wales!

Review 61:The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. The room was small, but adequate for the 1 night I was there. The room and bathroom were spotless and it had a good strong shower! Breakfast in front of an open fire was a good start to the day. I will be staying at this hotel again.

Review 62:Nothing at all

Review 63:The Falcon gives a warm and very friendly service. The en suite facilities are spacious and bed very comfortable. The food is delicious and a good choice of menu. The breakfast was great and sets you up for the day.Staff cannot do enough for you and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Review 64:Dated looking. Some kind of machine like a boiler, went off and on through the night. Parking a bit tricky as you have to put a ticket on car at 8am and can only use it for 4 hours.

Review 65:Lovely kind staff and owner. Good food. Cosy. Clean. Central. My colleagues room looked lovely, I think mine was just a little less stylish.

Review 66:The heating was not on when we entered the room for the forst time, so it was chilly. However once we put in on, it warmed up very quickly.

Review 67:Excellent location, nice decor throughout the hotel, with 2 roaring fires!

Review 68:Only drawback to this hotel there is no free parking. You have to park in the pay and display car park.

Review 69:Good value for money hotel. Excellent helpful friendly staff.

Review 70:Had paid extra for superior double room stayed in room 20 this room was small and in no way superior we should be reimbursed at the very least as this room spoilt what should have been a special weekend so disappointed

Review 71:location was ideal for purpose of stay

Review 72:having to put an extra parking ticket on in preparation for the morning rounds of the local parking warden was a nuisance as it's easy to forget. an arrangement for hotel guests to pay for overnight parking on arrival would be a good idea.

Review 73:everything!

Review 74:Slow wifi

Review 75:The hotel is located right in the middle of Carmarthen so is accessible for all local facilities. There is very limited hotel parking but it's right next to a public pay and display parking. The rooms are comfortable and very clean. The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were very good and served with a smile. the only downside was the wifi was very poor in the room but better in public areas. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 76:The location is by the town taxi rank .On a Saturday evening this is adisaster. As people come out of the local clubs and pubs ,mainly drunk, they predominantly go for a taxi and make huge amounts of noise.Sleepis impossible.

Review 77:The Staff are friendly and efficient

Review 78:The speed of service, especially during breakfasts and busy dinner sessions, was not good, and there was a 'casualness' about the customer service from one or two of the staff which was unexpected here (giving an impression of complacency). However, the youngest staff tried their best and were helpful and welcoming. The decor of the rooms and the dining areas is tired, and needs refreshing. The shower cubicle in our room was too small, bathroom a little cramped, although there water temp & shower pressure were OK.

Review 79:The best things about the hotel were its location at the centre of Carmarthen, the breakfasts which were well cooked and with fresh ingredients, and the comfortable beds.

Review 80:We had the last room available which was on the top flooer with no lift we had to climb two flights of stairs.

Review 81:Hotel is fairly central with some free parking faciloities. Excellent friendly staff and spotlesly clean

Review 82:The WiFi did not work particularly well in the bedroom. The limited amount of car parking would have been frustrating if I hadn't of gone out for day trips although the Hotel did say they could probably make some space in their limited but dedicated parking spaces.

Review 83:The room rate was very good for a central location and the breakfast was excellent on each of the 3 days that I stayed.

Review 84:Swn un noson o bobl meddw'n crwydro'r dre. Oherwydd ei bod hi'n boeth, gorfod agor y ffenestri

Review 85:Staff yn gymwynasgar a chlen. Y lleoliad ei hun yn ardderchog heblaw am swn o'r tu allan.

Review 86:Shower kept turning off after a few seconds, but after a while it sorted itself out.

Review 87:Comfortable clean Room, spacious, slept well as mattres was comfy. Double Glazing for a good quiet nights sleep. Staff was very helpful on arrival and at breakfast, the breakfast was very good.

Review 88:Parking a slight problem as you had to pay but not overnight or sunday

Review 89:Hotel was very convenient for my short stay as I spending time at Tenby and also attending an Agricultural show near Llandeilo on the weekend

Review 90:We stayed during a period of hot weather and the room was unbearably hot. On requesting a fan we were told by staff that there were none available. When we checked out early because sleep was impossible the manager said that there were fans available in a storeroom! In addition our room had kitchen fan vents adjacent to the windows which were started up before 7.00am & made a loud roaring noise. If you have to stay here insist on a room facing the side street.

Review 91:Food in the front restaurant was good

Review 92:Hotel would have been a super place as everything about it met our criteria but on a Friday night the noise from outside was horrendous owing to there being a taxi rank and revellers from night clubs gathering outside our window .

Review 93:Its not the hotels fault but there are some noisy kids out on the High Street on a Friday night. There is double glazing and secondary glazing too which may have cut it all out but with the very warm weather it would have been very uncomfortable to sleep with windows closed.

Review 94:View of rooftops from the window, which did not impair on our stay to be fair.

Review 95:Good central location. Friendly welcome and excellent attention from staff. Very clean, comfortable and well appointed room. Very good food in the restaurant in the evening and for breakfast, with good service. Very comfortable ambiance. Considering that it was in the centre of town it was very quiet and peaceful.

Review 96:It was very warm even though it was quite cool outside - we had to ask for a fan (which we were given immediately). The bed was rather squeaky.

Review 97:Room was clean and cosy, as was the en suite.

Review 98:the stairs sorry have to point this out but very steep and no hand rail in my eye very dangerous

Review 99:The room were comfortable clean food delicious and always hot staff were so friendly and always had a smile

Review 100:No private car park but has pay and display right at the side of the hotel.

Review 101:Ideal if you have business in Carmarthen and surrounding areas. Good, comfortable hotel which is small enough to make it more personal. Good food and rooms are very clean and modern

Review 102:I had dinner in the restaurant. It was OK but I'll go elsewhere next time. Breakfast was fine - well enough for me. Parking is a bit tight but not impossible.

Review 103:Location was excellent for my purposes. In fact I'm going back again for a few more days. My room was clean and tidy. The wifi worked well and the shower was excellent. How pleasant to have a full size bath towel. A handy base for where I had to go. Restaurants, cinema and large supermarket nearby.

Review 104:The bed matress was the old metal spring type which was too soggy and made noises when you turned over.

Review 105:very friendly and helpful staff. Good Breakfast

Review 106:I paid a bit extra and had the deluxe double. Whilst not luxurious, the room was clean and had everything that I needed. Most importantly the bed was very comfortable and I had a good night sleep

Review 107:The shower dripped...I had to put a towel in the bath to muffle it!

Review 108:The sloping floor in my bedroom..really made the room feel old. And the fact that there was a bath as well as a shower. Location was excellent...right in centre...staff lovely!

Review 109:Chef had his radio on very loudly from very early to quite late and although you could not hear it in the downstairs areas you could hear it in the rooms

Review 110:Rooms need a face lift

Review 111:Staff and service

Review 112:The friendliness of the staff The superb food It's walking distance from the train station Comfortable sleep

Review 113:no parking facilities. bed was uncomfortable replacement of mattresses as old.

Review 114:staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location was ok.

Review 115:Central town location and ideal stop over en route to Fishguard ferry.

Review 116:right in town centre, manager was freiendly, rooms were very clean would go back again

Review 117:Very friendly staff and room very clean and quiet.

Review 118:All good !!

Review 119:Good food helpfull staff Comfy bed

Review 120:small quilt. even though i was happy to book a single bed, the quilt was basically big enough for a child but not an adult

Review 121:no restuarant

Review 122:Warm welcome from staff

Review 123:parking arrangements pay & display on street

Review 124:Friendly welcome and service. Very good evening meal.

Review 125:The staff were helpful and friendly. There was everything you needed for a comfortable stay.

Review 126:limited parking and not included as part of hotel stay

Review 127:Great staff and good food.

Review 128:No car parking or very limited

Review 129:It was a good location for our needs.Bed was comfortable and other amenities adequate.

The Fine Print

Please note that there is limited private parking available on-site. Alternatively, there is a large car park adjoining.
