Reviews for Farington Lodge Hotel
Review 1:Noisy rooms... cannot switch the boiler next door was working loudly all night and all floors creak so you wake up to people walking in the corridors. Also got locked out of the bathroom once.
Review 2:Lovely Georgian property, with easy access to the train station. Clean and good size rooms.
Review 3:Overpriced food and drink and a failure to provide food as ordered in the day and evening. A very stale scone and steak served with boiled potatoes as they had "run out" of chips!
Review 4:Room size and breakfast
Review 5:I would have preferred a room with a bath, the room only had a shower. There was a party function going on and when it finished at 2.30 am I was awoken by the staff emptying cans and bottles into the bins located below my bedroom window not particularly good.
Review 6:A nice clean room with a comfy bed friendly staff and beautifully decorated for Christmas.
Review 7:1That the first room i was given no 1 on the ground floor was just next door to a room designated for a privat dinner and dance party. Result _ I had to ask to be moved to a wuieter one at 11pm. Why oh why when the hotel was half full was I given the noisiest one in the hotel? 2 nothing - fine all other respects
Review 8:That you had a room available for me when I had fallen victim to the flooding and had had to stay overnight in the preston area on my way by rail to Glasgow.
Review 9:The staff didn't wow me to be honest, my wake up call was over half an hour late (fortunately I was already up) & I didn't get much of an apology, nor when I reported the hot tap in the sink didn't even run water for the duration of my stay (Simply mentioned it so they were aware, didn't complain in the slightest). The food was pretty dry/bland & unimpressive but I had a great time none the less as the room was fab & I kept myself to myself.
Review 10:Room was stunning, the standard of the bed, bathroom fixtures, curtains & everything just oozed quality. It was very comfortable & I simply didn't leave the room as it was so relaxing!
Review 11:Nothing.
Review 12:I gave a dinner party for my family at the hotel, it was excellent and everyone enjoyed. The room was most comfortable and the staff very helpful and pleasant. I would definitely plan a return visit.
Review 13:Some staff were good others lacked the basic knowledge when even ordering a meal. Ensuite shower waste plug was blocked and took two attempts to resolve it, then not fully. Had to ask for the obvious such as hand soap and a bottle of water for the room. Was done speedily when asked but should not of had too!
Review 14:Room was clean and tidy offering a good size. Food was of a good standard if not a bit pricy for portion size. One staff member did go that extra mile to resolve an issue.
Review 15:A bit tricky to find using the postcode on GPS. You end up in a housing estate cu-de-sac! Print a map off. The shower cabinet was very small. Considering the large size of the bathroom they should have fitted larger ones.
Review 16:Lovely room. Staff were great. Breakfast splendid.
Review 17:Although the hotel is surrounded by a populated area you feel as though you are in the country. As we were dining there were rabbits and a fox running around. Hotel very comfortable. A return visit after getting married at the hotel, it was our wedding anniversary.
Review 18:Plates were cold at breakfast. There was not enough daylight in bedroom and could have done with a 3 part mirror to look at cack of hair.
Review 19:Decor in room
Review 20:The evening meal food was well presented but of poor quality compared to the rest of the hotel facilities.
Review 21:The ambiance and staff were excellent and the style made a pleasant change from my usual business overnight. The breakfast was excellent and
Review 22:Nothing terrible...but some areas and décor could do with a little updating!
Review 23:The evening meal in the restaurant was first class! Room came with an very good morning breakfast. Service was of a very high standard!
Review 24:Had a noise out side of the window think it was air conditioning unit for kitchen was like a tumble dryer burning all day and night.
Review 25:Very nice place to stay would love to go back one day with ear plugs.
Review 26:The very minor disappointment was margarine at breakfast. Only didn't say anything as everything else had been so good. Will definately stay again when I'm visiting family in Preston
Review 27:The staff are superb, everything about the hotel was brilliant. I was late arriving due to horrendous traffic, the best beef sandwiches I have ever had were prepared for me on arrival and were much appreciated.
Review 28:I felt that the place could have been so much more had the rooms been looked after a little more. It was all nice but not perfect by any means. Breakfast on the second day was a mess and it took nearly 30minutes to get 2 hard boiled eggs. What annoyed me the most was that the staff didn't communicate this at all and the misread of enjoying my breakfast I was forced to gulp it down before I left to catch my train. I then paid £14 something for the pleasure. The coffee is not great either. I feel the hotel tries really hard to have good food but it fails on execution.
Review 29:The positives were definitely the staff who were very friendly and helpful (apart from at breakfast) throughout my 2 day stay. The surrounds were nice although I had the impression there would be more garden rather than a modern development building site.
Review 30:Webs on the light shade, dust on top of the wardrobe. The bed looked slept in on arrival and the phone in our room didn't work..
Review 31:Very friendly staff
Review 32:The atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff and their helpfulness. The great rooms, wonderful bathrooms. Relaxing atmosphere in the bar after a long day.
Review 33:I had children with me and had requested 2 rooms next to each other(had booked weeks in advance, slso called week before to check allocation of rooms) rooms were so far apart down a corridor then left down another so no where nearby Also room was directly above function room so heard music til around 1am Also woken by bottle skip being filled at around 4 :45 am extremely loud
Review 34:Chloe on reception very helpful
Review 35:Felt as a solo female guest I was under scrutiny, I was made to sign for each individual drink/food in an evening where I noticed the male guests signed for all at the end of the evening, felt discriminated against.
Review 36:The food was excellent, and the room an facilities.
Review 37:From walking in through the door to leaving, we experienced friendly, courteous staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our experience very enjoyable. The food was also excellent.
Review 38:Farington Lodge is a beautiful listed building that has been tastefully decorated in a simple, elegant manner. There are lots of beautiful antiques dotted around the place that add to the ambiance and the grounds are stunning. The staff were wonderful and made us very welcome without being intrusive. Definitely a place to go back to.
Review 39:The hotel was clean, beautiful decor, comfortable bed. The staff were all, without exception, friendly efficient and helpful, good food. Pleasant grounds to walk in.
Review 40:The evening dinner was very poor, we were the only couple dining that evening and the meat was dry & veg appeared to have been pre cooked & warmed up for us.
Review 41:Hotel & staff were great.
Review 42:that we had to leave
Review 43:Everything about our stay was pleasant: Our Room, bathroom, food, breakfast, staff, the 100th party we celebrated there of my daughter in law's grandma, beautiful building, location, gardens, outdoor walks and seating, autumn colours in garden
Review 44:Very expensive 165 for a room for the night we booked for a wedding but the hotel didn't offer a discount even when we said we were with the party
Review 45:Very clean good food and nice rooms
Review 46:what a wonderful hotel and the grounds well looked after and nice for a stroll around. also ideally situated for a b us or train into preston . .thanks to the staff for the welcome
Review 47:It was VERY hot and the windows didn't open very far and there was no air conditioning. However we were given a fan when we raised this with the hotel.
Review 48:Staff good, hotel clean, pleasant grounds
Review 49:The bar staff were not geared up for a wedding and only two ladies toilets for a large function which were not the cleanest.
Review 50:Drinks a bit dear

Review 90:Room was great
Review 91:the staff were helful, friendly and polite, room was beautiful, lovely stay
Review 92:The room wasn't amazing for £94.00

Review 95:the size of rooms, response to our request for my elderly father, space to .chill out. in the lounge, friendly helpful staff
Review 96:room too warm, no air conditioning in bedrooms yet had it in public areas.
Review 97:staff very welcoming, excellent service - asked for a room fan and brought to room within 2 mins, breakfast was good and service excellent good location nice & quiet overall good value for money
Review 98:Food has always been good and this visit was no exception. Dinner was excellent (top marks to the Chef) and breakfast good and well presented. Very spacious comfortable room with well appointed bathroom. Bed was extremely comfortable..
Review 99:Small shower cubicles
Review 100:Pleasant staff always there to look after your needs. Lovely big rooms with ample space and a decent size tv. Quiet atmosphere allowing me to work even in the bar area. Lovely grounds and away from any road noise but still close enough to the M6.
Review 101:Very cheerful and obliging staff who were very happy to help at anyopportunity. Lovely old hotel in nice grounds for little (if any) morethan a soulless budget euro-box.
Review 102:The large flood lights outside the bedroom windows (room 8) was completely unnecessary. You could read a book by the light let in through the blind and curtain. Why have flood lights pointing down onto bedroom windows - the idea is to sleep at night... in the dark. The bathroom and bedroom doors did not latch closed. The bathroom door particularly was annoying as it let light through from the court yard. Very disappointing and not a lot of sleep thanks to the above.
Review 103:Rather hard bed, cold room(although a fan heater was provided)Inexperienced waiters who needed more training.(we were at a Wedding breakfast.
Review 104:The bedroom size and the building itself.
Review 105:The bar area was small, breakfast was not the best just one egg, one sausage, one rasher and an uncooked tomato not what I expected for the price
Review 106:The room was comfortable and a large well equipped shower room. Dinner was good
Review 107:The rooms aren't particularly well decorated or furnished. Felt abit empty and dingy. Smelt of cigarettes. The breakfast buffet was poor(stuff missing or run out) although the cooked breakfast was ok. It allfelt just a bit...meh.
Review 108:The grounds are magnificent, as is the building.
Review 109:very impressed with the staff who were friendly and efficient. They made our stay especially enjoyable.Nothing was too much trouble. After enjoying a delicious vanilla latte Alison went to the trouble of explaining how she made it!
Review 110:At the lodge carpets really needed updating room 25 the plumping needed attention shower was very very small and did not drain very well, as well as the sink but it was very modern. Did report an was told it would be fixed Two days later came back and stayed in room 28 and no issues with the drainage system
Review 111:loved the modern bathroom food atmosphere. Loved the size of the room. the location is actually in Leyland not Preston so was great as all my family lived in Leyland so that worked out great. Great supply of toiletries. Staff was amazing if we needed ice cutlery anything they were right on it. I loved the fact they let me view the room before I agreed to stay there. I felt they appreciated my custom
Review 112:Shower unable to turn on, then when Manager managed to turn on with some force shower fine if you like luke warm water, shower cubicle not clean, was offered to change rooms - when shown room was even in a poorer condition so stayed where we were. Morning shower very cool water. Furniture in lounge grubby, decor dark, poor lighting summary 'tired old lady'. Advised when when leaving maybe a problem with the shower cartridge!!!!! Do they not carry out an inventory before occupancy?
Review 113:First impressions brilliant until we opened the door and went in.......
Review 114:Bathroom needed deep cleaning. Breakfast tables not laid and food ran out before the end of the service. Scrambled eggs not very nice- more like cut up omelette.
Review 115:Efficient and friendly staff. Comfortable and spacious room. Pleasant communal rooms. Very good dinner.
Review 116:Pillows! personal preference for something softer. Cold plate for my cooked breakfast but I was unlucky as my hisbans was hot. Needed sugar for my porridge and did not like sachets! A sugar shaker perhaps?
Review 117:Nice to stay in a traditional individual hotel not part of a massive chain. Rooms spacious and quirky. Nice bath shape plenty of hot water. Staff very polite, friendly and helpful.
Review 118:Being given a room above the main entrance and listening to partyrevellers drinking and smoking on the doorstep, the sound of doorsbanging constantly and clearly hearing the voices of anyone who wentpast my room. The hot water for the shower could not be adjusted to coolit down and resulted in me having to have a very hot shower as I neededto wash my hair. I am 5ft 5in and had to stand on tiptoe to reach the'adjustable' shower head.
Review 119:Being moved to a quieter room after twice complaining about the noise. The good breakfast
