Reviews for La Salamandre

Review 1:Had to pay in advance and had to sign contract

Review 2:Friendly Nice breakfast Very helpful Good location - close to Beauvais airport Not far from Beauvais station Nice garden

Review 3:The room and whole hotel was very cosy and comfortable. It is in walking distance from train station. However for airport one needs to take taxi. It is little loud in the room since the stairs guve noise. Nevertheless overall the place is great.

Review 4:No complains, it was great and we had a good rest.

Review 5:The location was excellent with a view of the great Cathedral and the City center which was decorated with the Christmas lights and original decor and it just happened that it was an event in the city market that attracted lots of vendors especially food, so we enjoyed a crepe made instantly with our choice of filling. We had fun that day! The breakfast was beautiful and delicious, the room was spacious and nicely decorated, free Wi-Fi and total quiet and privacy. Highly recommend the place!

Review 6:Nothing.

Review 7:Amazing stay in beauvais! The rooms are beautiful, well furnished and clean, the bed is really really confortable and you'll find everything that you need. The owner is the nicest person i've met in france during my stay, so friendly and helpful. Recommend a lot!

Review 8:The room we stayed in was absolutely amazing. So big and spacious and different from any other hotel room. Great location and so easy to get into Paris from Beauvais. Stephane the owner was so accommodating and was happy to help with absolutely everything.

Review 9:Everything was perfect, really high standards in quality, taste and refinement. It was amazing and I wasn't even there for leisure. It made my business trip much more pleasant.

Review 10:Not a bad experience but it was unclear where to find the main entrance. We were concerned that the hotel was closed! A simple sign would remedy this.

Review 11:Beautifully restored and renovated property. Quirky and full,of character.

Review 12:Mean and unwelcoming manager kept me waiting on the street for ten minutes late at night after a long flight. Had to phone a number first the hotel was unmanned at 10.30 at nightDemanded the money upfront called it a hotel but did not even have a card machine. The next morning I requested a taxi. It took several minutes to arrive turned out it was a mate of his who charged 15 euros for a five minute journey in a car that looked like a makeshift taxi. I would advise guests to be carful and ring for a taxi themselves as it seemed like a racket between the two of them. Also the owner was unprofessional muttering derogatory things to his pal as I left.I checked in late the owner kept raising his voice and speaking in robotic English then scolded me for checking in late as if he were the governor of a youth hostel. He seemed to have a different approach to guests who looked overtly French.Dirty and Tight: There was no hand soap provided just a tinny tube of shower gel. No door for the toilet area which was located near the bed lovely.Mean when he checked me in he snatched away the extra towels in the room then made a big deal when I asked for another big one.Zero empathy I had been travelling for a long time and besides for £73 euros a night in a makeshift bedsit passing itself off as a hotel I would not expect this level of pettiness .He was extremely rude when he gave in to my request considering he had just taken my money.Owner does not speak Spanish but loves speaking English bizarre considering the hotel is not in England. More people speak Spanish in the world too. Also understood most of what was said in French but kept insisting on speaking English disgracefulOwner broke wind loudly while serving breakfastThe owner kept on telling me everyone was a sleep but during the night I heard many people playing their tv and other noises.I had to ask to leave my baggage in my room while I went to get the money.

Review 13:Wifi speed decour location

Review 14:That I had to leave!

Review 15:Everything! The staff was great. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was amazing and the view from the bedroom was fantastic.

Review 16:My advice: Call ahead before you arrive. It's a small Bed & Breakfast, so make sure your arrival time is expected.

Review 17:The décor of the rooms. Stephan, the owner, is a very nice guy - he gave us a lift to the train station when we left! It's a very classy place, wonderful back yard... I'd have no problem living there! :-)

Review 18:We only stayed one night but I can't say I found anything at fault. Perhaps some would like more privacy in the loo and when washing but it wasn't a problem for us as so nicely appointed.

Review 19:The room was clean and beautifully decorated and our host very helpful and friendly. It was very quiet and we were able to park on the street outside and it seemed safe to do so. It was only a short distance into the centre of the town, about 10-15 minutes walk. My husband who uses a walking stick managed to do this without difficulty.

Review 20:Breakfast basic, although room very good there was no door on toilet, maybe a French thing? Had problem contacting owners.

Review 21:Beautiful room, bed very comfortable, lovely garden.

Review 22:everything perfect

Review 23:Very cosy and comfortable hotel with great decorated rooms - the owner, Stephane, showed us a few. Our loft-like deluxe room had a perfect view on the cathedral and featured a stand-alone bath tube, dimmable lights and tea/coffee amenities. Apart from that the hotel had a terrace in a wonderful backyard, where we enjoyed a conversation with Stephane, and many great ideas to add to your experience - the mini music box collection is one of them. 10+

Review 24:Everything was amazing! Stèphane was super helpful and accommodating right from the start. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on, and the shower was amazing. No faults, at all.

Review 25:The owner, Stephan is amazing. Very helpful and patient as I arrived very late and had a very early departure. Carried my bags to the top floor. The auberge is lovely with a very large room with beautiful details and a comfortable bed with high quality linens and a large soaking bathtub. Stephan was kind enough to drive me and my young son to airport the next morning very early. I highly recommend La Salamandre.

Review 26:Nothing not to like really.

Review 27:Super friendly owner and really lovely décor. Room was huge and just as described. Couldn't have been more helpful, even when we asked for a particularly early breakfast. Thank you!

Review 28:The only criticism is that the Salamandre is on a one way street which was difficult to locate on the GPS. I would suggest that this is more clearly explained on the booking form.

Review 29:The Salamandre has been refurbished to very high standards. The owners could not have been more accommodating. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 30:it felt like being at home. I travel extensively and this was my most comfortable stay so far. I didn't realise I had booked an apartment as I thought it was a hotel in the usual mould. A delight and the garden was a bonus.

Review 31:The room was nicely decorated, properly cleaned. The owner was very nice, and very very helpful. Breakfast was free and delicious, made by the owner. There are delicious restaurants around, especially the Lebanese. The whole environment was very very enjoyable.

Review 32:We had a very pleasant stay. The room was lovely and warm as it was the first cold day that we have had we really appreciated it.
