Reviews for The Fairhaven Hotel
Review 1:We stayed in a back room and it was very noisy we complained and they said the was 3 kichens at the back so if I booked again it would have to be a sea front room
Review 2:Good food.
Review 3:Grumpy staff poor breakfast no atmosphere. no view very noisy all night uncomfortable beds made of wooden boards. revolting tea and coffee in room came home day early didn't refund any money.
Review 4:Like location and clean hotel
Review 5:Our room was at the back of the property in an extension. It had a small window overlooking a washing line and another extension. This made it quite dark and cell like. No toiletries either. Clean and basic and breakfast adequate but with no frills. Would have expected price to be cheaper as no view.
Review 6:My husband and I have stayed at lots of different guest houses and hotels in Weymouth and i must say that The Fairhaven takes a lot of beating. Would not hesitate to stay there again.
Review 7:A limited choice at breakfast but I suppose this was fair enough taking into consideration the price for the night. Less acceptable was the 35 minute wait for the cooked breakfast. no real complaints.
Review 8:The location. An easy walk to any location around the centre of Weymouth, a pleasant, elegant building on the Esplanade. a reasonably priced no-frills hotel.
Review 9:The attitude of a staff member on arival, must been having an off day. The view from the window and the sound in the back yard at night.
Review 10:The breakfast.
Review 11:The hotel looks a little tired and dated and would benefit from a bit of refurbishment. Most hotels these days provide basic toiletries like shampoo or shower gel, which would have been a nice addition. A WiFi connection or at least some sort of internet access would also have been appreciated.
Review 12:Good sized room and quite comfortable. Breakfast was very good and staff friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Perpetual noise from extractor fans somewhere. Soundproofing no n existent. You could hear loos flushing ng upstairs.
Review 14:Breakfast was good value for money
Review 15:Noisy neighbours and Staff handing out your room keys to you without checking you are the legitimate occupant - I just think it is a security issue whereby anyone could ask for room 71 and then take any valuables. Not that anything like that happened.
Review 16:The price The location Breakfast
Review 17:We would have liked to sit in the lounge on the 1st floor overlooking the front but it was always locked. The reason given was it would be cold in there.
Review 18:Being right on the sea front and near to the harbour and shops. Kept beautifully clean and the staff lovely and friendly.
Review 19:Lack of Internet - although it was available in the lounge but we weren't told this found out from another guest. Needs updating. Lack of plugs in the room.
Review 20:Friendly staff, availability of parking permit. We had a comfortable quiet room although small.
Review 21:Would have liked WiFi in our room not just in reception/lounge.
Review 22:It's sea front location was lovely, very helpful restaurant staff. The room cleaning staff were excellent.
Review 23:The hotel was a bit rambling and the parking procedures, because of the location, were difficult. View from bedroom terrible.
Review 24:Ideal location and a proper breakfast
Review 25:The only complaint I would have was my mattress,ie you could feel the springs every time you turned over.
Review 26:Hotel was in a good position for my walking hols and getting around I only had bed and breakfast which was very good and lots to choose from.
Review 27:The unfriendly breakfast staff that did not listen to what was asked of them and then took our breakfast away before we had finished.
Review 28:How close it was to the beach
Review 29:The room we were in was very noisy on the first floor at the back we asked staff and they said there was 3 kitchens. Below us would not book again unless we had a front room
Review 30:the rooms are depressing, beds are uncomfortable and cannot believe you cannot get wifi unless you go to reception? the pipes when you use shower and toilet are noisy in every room. Would not recommend this hotel.
Review 31:liked the location of property and the dining room was ok.
Review 32:No bad experiences
Review 33:Excellent location over looking the beach. Top marks for value. Single room had all the facilities required and very clean. The restaurant manager was very attentative at breakfast. There was plenty of choice at breakfast all served at the table and the restaurant was bright and airy with comfortable chairs. I booked a parking permit in advance with the hotel paid deposit when I arrived and got it back the following day when leaving. When you consider that parking cost is circa 6 pounds for 4hours this was quite a saving. Finally, this hotel is rated 2stars in my view it should be 3stars and I would have no hesitation in staying here again
Review 34:Had a great time. Staff were great.rooms were good, lovely breakfast. Paid a lot more for poor accommodation. Unfortunately had to leave due to family problem and we were given a rebate as a goodwill gesture thought that was fantastic.
Review 35:The room was clean and tidy but was old fasioned and tired the posision of the room was at the back of the hotel and there was constant noise from the kitchen fans
Review 36:The staff were very freindly and the hotel although the decor was tired it was clean The breakfast was nice it was hot and there was no long waiting time
Review 37:We didn't like the dark dingy room, could do with a spruce up,also walked miles to get there from lift,no outlook only bare walls of next house so was dark, if we had been staying longer would have asked to change room.and parking not good outside if you left space you couldn't get back in and pavillion was quite away if you had suitcases or it was raining.
Review 38:hotel in good position .staff friendly and breakfast staff nice . bar downstairs has entertainment each night so that was somewhere to go if you didn't want to go out.
Review 39:The spaciousness of the room and a bath rather than a shower. The quality of the breakfast and efficiency of the service. The speedy return by post of some property (mobile) left in the room.
Review 40:The room although clean was very tired there were no niceties like picture etc and the furniture was basic like the re was a varnished plywood wardrobe and a very cheap set of draws. It was also very dark as there was a wall directly opposite the window so very little daylight.
Review 41:Friendly staff and room was very clean with new carpet.
Review 42:Good budget hotel, which is located on the seafront and close to all the facilities. We wanted a hotel with a comfy bed, hot shower and a cooked breakfast each morning and this is exactly what we got! Acts as a good base to explore Weymouth and the surrounding areas. This is the second two-night stay at this hotel this year so knew what to expect. Although no on-site parking, a parking permit is available to park nearby. Already planning to return next year :-)
Review 43:Very friendly and helpful staff.Booked ahead a parking permit and parked within 100m.Waitress service at breakfast, lovely view of the bay, comfortable bed and powerful hot shower.
Review 44:Nothing bad!!!!
Review 45:Nice welcome. comfortable, spacious room. Tasty and good choice of breakfast. Access to restaurant next door [same owners as hotel]. which was convenient.
Review 46:When I booked though yourselves, I clicked on the photo to book a doubleroom. It then showed me some photos of the double room that I wasstaying in, which looked very nice, but when we went to our room it wastotally different to the photos (& a lot smaller) I also emailed thehotel prier to booking with yourselfs & was told the double room wason the 1st floor just near the lift.(disability was mentioned &being 64) but when we got the key we was on the 3rd right at the back ofthe hotel down some stairs. I made a complaint so they moved us so wehad no stairs to go down, but the room was still nothing like the oneadvertised. I think crossed wires between your email to the hotel &my email to them. Your advert is a little misleading because when I booka holiday & it shows me photos of a room that I have booked &supposed to be staying in I expect it to be that type of room. Apartfrom that we made a good situation out of a bad one....Not a Bookingvery happy customer...Kenneth Riley
Review 47:Hotel (very clean), food & location....
Review 48:Having to park so far away because of the Triathlon. I have a damaged shoulder and am unable to carry heavy things.
Review 49:Good full breakfast as usual but bit disappointed that we were made to sit right next to the kitchen door!!! Very comfortable bed
Review 50:Limited parking spaces. No Wi-Fi in bedrooms. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and there was a lot of street noise late at night.
Review 51:The restaurant staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. Good location. Good selection of shops near by.
Review 52:The only thing wrong was parking
Review 53:As soon as we arrived we were made to feel welcome. The room was very clean and spacious. The dining area was immaculate and the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
Review 54:The hotel car park was very small difficult to get into and equally difficult to exit! The only reasonable alternative was to use a town car park which was free till 8am and then dash out early to feed the meter.
Review 55:The position was perfect right on the promenade, opposite the beach and near the shops. The room was clean, the staff were all.pleasant and the breakfast was fine.
Review 56:We were travelling from London for a wedding and requested an early check in.Advised not available but they were still advertising vacancies so could have been more accomodating
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:night disturbence outside noise. no mirror located close to use hairdryer no secure place to keep luggage.on day of leaving wanted to leave suitcase to enjoy the rest of day would like peace of mind .
Review 59:location cleanliness friendly.
Review 60:Having to hand the key in every time we went out
Review 61:The staff were super friendly and the cleanliness and comfort were superb. The hotel was ever so slightly dated and there could have been more choice for breakfast. However I did enjoy my stay.
Review 62:There were limited options for vegetarians at breakfast, and my mum ended up with baked beans and a fried egg. Maybe having vegetarian sausages available would make for a more enjoyable meal?
Review 63:Great location, and comfortable rooms. An enjoyable stay.
Review 64:Booked for our first anniversary what a disappointment good site on sea front room very dated small and up in the attic. Unorganized breakfast, waited for ages for some one to serve us and had some one who could hardly speak English. On a good point receptionist were very friendly
Review 65:We visited bar on one occasion but entertainment was not our scene. It didn't matter though because there were bars and resurants in walking distance of hotel.
Review 66:Excellent location, friendly staff, good size rooms, comfortable beds.Breakfast was good with friendly waiter service.Staff helped with a parking permit so could park right outside the hotel with no charge.Would defiantly return and are already looking to book next year.
Review 67:Walk across road to beach. Choice of breakfast menu.Helpfulness of the staff.Room cleaned early.I was with my 8 years old grandson and staff treated all children with consideration.IId
Review 68:view from room window not good, but then it was a back room and not a room facing the sea front, breakfast was not very hot,
Review 69:very comfortable, very conveniently situated, friendly staff.
Review 70:The rooms were old fashioned and tired looking. Breakfast was ok. Orange juice classed as a starter. You couldn't have cereal if you had fruit juice. Could have tomatoes and beans. It was one or the other. Why not both for what you pay. Breakfast finished too early
Review 71:Terribly uncomfortable bed, only got 3 hours sleep Pillows were 2" thick, blankets were itchy
Review 72:Really dated, terrible beds, awful bathrooms and dire breakfast. Expected so much more
Review 73:No parking, had to find a pay and display carpark every evening, very expensive, also not much in the way of a cooked breakfast,1 piece of bacon a fried egg 1 sausage, toast, left feeling hungry.
Review 74:Location good on the beach,
Review 75:Booked a double room very small space just enough room for the double bed and wardrobe
Review 76:Perfect location on the water front, close to all the local attractions and shops
Review 77:I didn't like where our room was located. I would have preferred a better view. All I could see was roof tops!
Review 78:The location of the hotel & the helpfulness of the staff
Review 79:There was 3 of us, me and my two children. We booked 2 double rooms @ £100/night and £90/night which was all that was available when we booked. However, when we arrived we were each given a family room with 3 beds in each, including a bouble. So we could sleep 8 between us. The shame is that I could have booked one room for all 3 of us and saved myself £90. So it all felt a bit over the top and too expensive for a one night stay
Review 80:Location of the hotel and one of our rooms which had sea views.
Review 81:On arrival we found the very small back street parking was poor. Charged at £5 a night I thought this was crazy as your parked in a back street. Wasn't a fan of having to leave my car key with reception just incase we were out and they needed to move the car. Breakfast the following morning staff seemed as though they wanted to get guests in and out as quick as possible rather than letting them relax and enjoy their meals plus the breakfast was like a childs portion wasn't much apealing.
Review 82:The rooms were clean and very well presented. The bed is one of the comfiest hotel beds I've ever had the joy of sleeping in. Good hotel for a last minute stay.
Review 83:The place of our bedroom. It was noisy because we are at the very back of the building. And we can hear the noises of the people walking and talking around:(. At first night we didn't have a good night sleep. But it's not a big issue though. We are still happy of our stay:). No wifi(()) connection.:( . But It's still fine, we survived!:) :)
Review 84:I like the place of the hotel. Very convenient to go to the beach, shops and leisure.
Review 85:Cramped , dirty room. The staff were ignorant and obnoxious with practically no customer skills whatsoever. Although it advertises that parking is available, in reality there is only enough for about ten vehicles. This meant a ten minute trek to the public car park.
Review 86:Very noisy rooms, could hear everything from hallway and neighbouring rooms. And being woken up at 3am by a false fire alarm was not pleasant with a little one in the room. Not much sleep..
Review 87:Good location
Review 88:The (single) room was miniscule, but all very clean and comfortable, and quite OK for what we paid.
Review 89:Superb location on the seafront, very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent breakfast, all served by friendly an cheerful waiting staff.
Review 90:Woken up in middle night by fire alarm fire exit locked! Nobody organising anything and then told someone. smoking. Foreign badly spoken English staff who didn't know where rooms were in fire alarm worrying!!
Review 91:Location beach view
Review 92:The Hotel receptionist welcomed us to come in - as she was smoking on the hotel steps ! Yuck The quality of food for breakfast was very poor - dull, and uninteresting
Review 93:Location was a delight and easy to find using the exterior photo found on the booking.com website Weymouth is so pretty and it was our second stay in the town
Review 94:We had a room at the back and it was very noisy as youngsters moved about through the night.
Review 95:Great location, helpful staff. Cleaners and waiting staff had huge smiles nothing was too much trouble! Lovely breakfast, would have been our own fault if we had left the table hungry.
Review 96:Not the most up to date of hotels but it has everything you need, comfy bed, can come and go as you please and probably the best and quickest breakfast I've had, great value for a sea front hotel.
Review 97:Very squeaky floor boards from people walking in room above. Pity the bar/dance floor and entertainnent was down in basement as not particularly enticing.
Review 98:Superb view from seafacing bay window of room. Breakfast offered good selection and nicely cooked.
Review 99:It is surrounded by several bars with live music so it was quite noisey till the early hours of the morning
Review 100:We had a lovely room with a fantastic view of the sea and all the way down the esplanade
Review 101:The room was poorly decorated, like going back to the sixtys. It still has a sink in it,it's a low low budget hotel trying to b something it isn't,my fiance even found a sewing needle in the carpet, the room backed on to a nightclub,so no sleep, never never again, travellers beware.
Review 102:The room smelt strongly of cigarette smoke. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever (not) slept in any hotel. The room was small and in real need of updating.
Review 103:The location - central near the beach. The shower was OK.
Review 104:I was placed in a single room which was on a corner. It was very small and dark and an odd shape. I do feel that 'singletons' have a very poor deal, not only at this hotel but in most.
Review 105:Location is ideal also use of parking permit for the area at no extra charge.
Review 106:Unfortunately we didn't sleep well due to the noise from party goers on the front till 5am and then council trucks and road sweepers after that.
Review 107:The beach was on the doorstep and our room was a lovely size with a fabulous view of the beach. We were given a parking pass.
Review 108:Decor after nice entrance hall very dated & poor quality. Thin curtains. Dirty towel behind bathroom door & dirty saucers on hospitality tray. 1 bedside table between 3 bed spaces! Poor lighting. Disappointing breakfast.
Review 109:Location
Review 110:The reception staff were rude & patronizing. The shower was no more than a dribble. The room was dusty & the tv remote had never been cleaned. As the room was really hot we had to keep the window open all night so didn't sleep well due to the church bell ringing every 30 mins & noisy people leaving nearby bars (not the hotel's fault)
Review 111:The location was perfect and the staff at breakfast on day one were really friendly. Although there was very limited choice for breakfast it was very tasty
Review 112:Room was far too small and not to our taste. I wouldn't recommend it for more than one night or for a special occasion. Cramped dining room should have two sittings.
Review 113:Staff were friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good but dining room far too cramped.
Review 114:I did not see the ramp for pushchairs, even I saw people with wheelchair. I do not know how they entered. Low hot water pressure (3rd floor). Small twin room, especially when you have an extra bed, for baby. I found it difficult at first to find way around the mass of corridors when locating our room. It is like a labyrinth.
Review 115:Everything, especially breakfast staff. Our baby (14 months old) loved those guys. Big bathroom, big towels, cleaning everyday, enough coffee+tea in the room; Cereals+fruit / full English breakfast + coffee, tea, milk, gem, honey, butter. Just near the best part of the beach.
Review 116:unfortunately our room was at the back of hotel and was so noisy during the night nightclub nearby crushing bottles into bottle bank between 3.00am and 4.30am || then bins being pulled along cobbles at 7.am || must be an alley between hotel and nightclub, so we had very little sleep room number 25. cleaner did tell us they had complaints about this room before.
Review 117:thye cleanliness was good, food ok for the price, parking a problem when we first arrived untill they got us a permit to park outside
Review 118:The bedroom was very small and had slanted ceiling and you had to bend and be careful in the dark. The hotel was very dated and needed to be refurbished bring it up to date.
Review 119:The breakfast was freshly cooked and service was quick. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 120:No Car Parking. Bathroom was dirty and small, view was a flat roof with dirty old rags, wires and bottles. Breakfast is pre made and sat on a hot plate, not a lot of it. Could here pub music till late at night.
Review 121:Location, fantastic.
Review 122:The reception staff are rude and have no time for the briefest of pleasantries. The bed was uncomfortable and against a wall
Review 123:The location and the price, it is cheap and you get what you pay for. The cleaners and restaurant staff were polite pleasant
Review 124:It was quite hard to find the room. And there was no air conditioning in the room so it was really hot and that makes a bit difficult to sleep
Review 125:Location was great.
Review 126:The room though small, was clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathroom with shower was large and the shower was excellent. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us.
Review 127:On the third floor that we was on it smelled a bit damp as we walked through to our room .also had a noise from a boiler which was annoying of a night also a pain with parking
Review 128:staff were nice and friendly food was nice
Review 129:Unfortunately this time the room was not good. At the end of a corridor so very noisey. Bed was against the wall so inconvenient if one person wanted to get up in the night. However have stayed before in different room without this problem so its not an issue across the hotel.
Review 130:Location perfect. Lovely filling breakfast and friendly helpful staff.
Review 131:The water pressure in the shower was very weak and it hardly got above a trickle.
Review 132:The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. We are vegetarian and had no trouble customising the menu to our tastes. The free on-street parking was well managed. The hotel is a few hundred yards from Weymouth Pavilion and right across the road from the beach. A five minute walk puts you right into the town centre and the harbour area, which is full of restaurants. A nice, if a little dated, hotel.
Review 133:Shower was awful, Had to run around to get wet. Bed wasn't very comfortable, mattress very thin.
Review 134:Hotel is in a great location right on the sea front. Staff were very friendly
Review 135:staff could have been more help spent ages searching for room, window was so small didnt let any air in and also didnt stop any noise didnt get much sleep and ended up leaving without breakfast was too cross to stay
